Since the latest Kernel upgrade, my laptop (Dell m4700) fails to show
the login screen. I see the Ubuntu boot animation, but the screen turns
black instead of showing the login screen. I'm using AMD proprietary
drivers for my "Chelsea XT GL FirePro M4000" graphics card.

I updated to the 3.19.0-26 kernel today and the fglrx-core package
failed to install when dkms tried to install it. Switching to the fglx
packages here in the proposed branch solved my issue. It would seem that

1) Downloaded ubuntu 14.04-3 on 2015-08-18.
2) Installed onto /dev/sde (PCIe SSD) as LVM partitions.
3) Install goes smoothly.
4) At end of install, GRUB installation fails giving the options of
a) killing the install
b) proceeding without a bootloader

UBUNTU 14.10 64 BIT install disk downloaded and made on a MS HP laptop.
expected to continue install and instead crashed a brought me back to
the Ubuntu desktop, ( try os desktop). I will try again.

This nearly identical to the following bug:

however, this is not effecting iTCO_wdt, but is effecting gpio_ich
ACPI Warning: SystemIO range 0x0828-0x0
I forgot to mention that I manually tested the
GetConnectionAppArmorSecurityContext and GetConnectionCredentials bus
methods. Both work as expected.
