[Bug 1488080] [NEW] Should not use generic contact avatar
Public bug reported: I'm not sure I'm filing the bug against the right package. The persistent notifications on vivid (phone) show a generic human/contact icon, if no avatar was specified. [Bug 1475166] Re: Ubuntu 15.04 Install Error with Avago Controller
Thanks for the bisect results! We can confirm that this fixes the issue by manually specifying the max_sectors_kb and seeing if that fixes the issue. 1. Boot the server installation and stop at the partitioning screen (this way we make sure it has detected everything) 2. Switch to another VT (Ctrl-Alt-F2) 3. Confirm and post the values of cat /sys/block/xxx/queue/max_sectors_kb and max_hw_sectors_kb (where xxx is the block device for the Avago controller) 4. Execute - echo 1024 /sys/block/vda/queue/max_sectors_kb 5. Confirm it was really changed with cat 6. Proceed with the installation Now, if you want to use this as a more permanent workaround you need to specify the 1024 value in sysfs on the installed system as well. Once confirmed, we would want to get from Avago (or at least some manual testing) what the real hw maximum of this value should be and add it the driver (as described in the commit message). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1475166 Title: Ubuntu 15.04 Install Error with Avago Controller To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1475166/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1457776] Re: virtualbox-dkms 4.3.10-dfsg-1ubuntu5: virtualbox kernel module failed to build
Hi Henrik, I appreciate your work, unfortunately (Debian and Ubuntu virtualbox maintainer hat on), the patch is not good. e.g. the first patch drops support for older kernels, you can see the right patch here http://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/pkg-virtualbox/virtualbox.git/commit/src/VBox/HostDrivers/VBoxNetAdp/linux/VBoxNetAdp-linux.c?id=747414b7236ec035b4ffcce62f953a7908637723 and here http://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/pkg-virtualbox/virtualbox.git/commit/src/VBox/Runtime/r0drv/linux/alloc-r0drv-linux.c?id=747414b7236ec035b4ffcce62f953a7908637723 the problem actually is that we can't provide targeted fixes anymore for virtualbox, since this kind of kernel build failures is much frequent, and the vbox code changes a lot between releases. I'm going to ask soon an exception for virtualbox, to be able to update it to new stable releases in stable ubuntu ones, to fix CVEs and this kind of bugs easily. look e.g. to https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=794466 where I asked the same for Debian. ** Changed in: virtualbox (Ubuntu) Status: Fix Committed = Confirmed ** Changed in: virtualbox (Ubuntu) Assignee: Henrik Tikanvaara (henrik-tikanvaara-7) = (unassigned) ** Bug watch added: Debian Bug tracker #794466 http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=794466 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1457776 Title: virtualbox-dkms 4.3.10-dfsg-1ubuntu5: virtualbox kernel module failed to build To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/virtualbox/+bug/1457776/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1482069] Re: miredo.service fails on boot
Confirmed, both the problem and the workaround, and it's present upstream too. The issue is described here: http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/systemd/NetworkTarget/ Requiring only network.target means requiring NetworkManager to start, but not requiring DNS to be up; since miredo is started before DNS is up, and it can't cope with it, the result is failure. The possible solutions/workarounds are: 1) As per above, require network-online.target (one can use /etc/systemd/system/miredo.service.d /network-online.conf or similar override instead of editing the whole file); 2) Enable NetworkManager-wait-online (not recommended as it slows down boot); 3) Fix Miredo to wait for DNS to be up by itself. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1482069 Title: miredo.service fails on boot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/miredo/+bug/1482069/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1486872] Re: Can skip wizard steps after you tap on notificationStorage device detected
(Note that all wizard setup work is optional. It can all be done from System Settings afterward. So while this bug is an annoyance, it doesn't break anything on your phone.) My rationale for this behavior was originally that if the user is already comfortable using the phone, they don't need a helping hand, just let them use it. But I grant that some people might just click on a notification and then be lost. I suppose that to fix this, we'd need to confirm some things with design. I'd guess that we'd want to disable edges so that you can't open the launcher, open the panel, or right-edge swipe from any app that opens during the wizard or tutorial. And maybe not even show the panel, if you can't interact with it. So basically the interaction mode we use for the emergency phone. But then how do you exit the app? The emergency phone has a special button for it. But not every app that opens during the wizard is closable from within the app. (External Storage isn't, nor is Messaging) Without that user flow, I don't know how to force the user back into the wizard when they are done with the app. ** Also affects: ubuntu-ux Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1486872 Title: Can skip wizard steps after you tap on notificationStorage device detected To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-system-image/+bug/1486872/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1481388] Re: NTP : Use-after-free in routing socket code after dropping root
I was able to reproduce the problem on PRECISE (12.04) by lowering the kernel parameter value net.core.rmem_max. And then test my .deb build on my PPA[1] with the following upstream commits : - d6df9d3 [Bug 2224] Use-after-free in routing socket code after dropping root. - db47bd4 [Bug 2890] Ignore ENOBUFS on routing netlink socket. What the patch does ? === The program first read from the fd. On success, the number of bytes written into buf is returned. This bug also affects me on a fresh install of xubuntu 15.04. [Bug 1485086] Re: lshw does not display cpu information correctly on aarch64
@Manoj: can you MP a fix for vivid before we do the trusty one? Basically like the wily one, but with the following changes: - Please drop the changes to s390x - it won't be supported in trusty, an SRUs should avoid unnecessary changes. - Please either drop the changes on arm32 *or* verify the bug on an arm32 platform and verify the fix there. - Please drop the arch-independent changes (i.e. cpu-setProduct(value)) - Please drop the __ID(@(#) change at the top of the file - it is an unnecessary change. - Please make the new patch the last entry in the debian/patches/series file - Please add a debian/changelog entry - ideally copying the one from wily, but with an LP bug reference. Once we SRU the vivid one, we can move on to trusty with the same above changes. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1485086 Title: lshw does not display cpu information correctly on aarch64 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lshw/+bug/1485086/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
