[Bug 1488076] [NEW] Copying/moving an entry from local to ldap addressbook fails

2015-08-24 Thread Raphael Mankin
Public bug reported:

When I try to move or copy an addressbook entry from a local to an LDAP
addressbok I get an 'object class violation' error.

I quite understand why this happens; I suppose that the copy/move has to
be done field by field and not as an object. It means that I have to
manually copy each and every field from the old objects into new ones.

[Bug 1467542] Re: Add new userspace package 'opal-prd'

2015-08-24 Thread Frédéric Bonnard
Jeremy, is upgrade to 5.1.1 required ?
For trusty I guess canonical would prefer to change the version as less as
possible.
So, do we require this right away, orshould we wait an upcoming version which
will bundles more important stuff later ?
Thanks for your insight.

[Bug 1488080] [NEW] Should not use generic contact avatar

2015-08-24 Thread Michał Karnicki
Public bug reported:

I'm not sure I'm filing the bug against the right package.

The persistent notifications on vivid (phone) show a generic
human/contact icon, if no avatar was specified. However, that image may
not match all contexts in terms of who/what posted the notification (it
may be a server monitoring system, for instance, so clearly not a
person).

current build number: 24
device name: krillin
channel: ubuntu-touch/stable/bq-aquaris.en
last update: 2015-07-22 14:36:08
version version: 24
version ubuntu: 20150713
version device: 20150529-8e13c5f
version custom: 20150709-814-29-21-vivid

---

Feedback from Patricia Davila (design):

Yes, I agree, a generic contact icon does not add value or give any info
to the user in the context of a notification. As I mentioned, if the
avatar is not present, the notification artwork should display the
originating application's icon by default, rather than an generic
placeholder or 'nothing' at worst.

Please see the following spec for more information on layout and
behaviour of notifications in the notification centre:

[Bug 1475166] Re: Ubuntu 15.04 Install Error with Avago Controller

2015-08-24 Thread Bryan Quigley
Thanks for the bisect results! We can confirm that this fixes the issue by
manually specifying the max_sectors_kb and seeing if that fixes the issue.
1. Boot the server installation and stop at the partitioning screen (this way
we make sure it has detected everything)
2. Switch to another VT (Ctrl-Alt-F2)
3. Confirm and post the values of cat /sys/block/xxx/queue/max_sectors_kb and
max_hw_sectors_kb (where xxx is the block device for the Avago controller)
4. Execute - echo 1024 /sys/block/vda/queue/max_sectors_kb
5. Confirm it was really changed with cat
6. Proceed with the installation

Now, if you want to use this as a more permanent workaround you need to
specify the 1024 value in sysfs on the installed system as well. Once
confirmed, we would want to get from Avago (or at least some manual
testing) what the real hw maximum of this value should be and add it the
driver (as described in the commit message).

[Bug 1488084] [NEW] ATH9K Networking Crashes After Overnight Standby

2015-08-24 Thread cedian
Public bug reported:

If I let my linux laptop on for a night, in standby mode, without
disabling networking then it won't let me turn on networking.

My laptop is the Acer Aspire 7551 7551-P322G25Mnsk.
Information about my Wireless network card and the logs of the WiFi are in the
attachment.
I've hidden my MAC address and my network SSID in the attachment.

It's a bit annoying if I need to let files and programs (also files
according to everything is a file) open and I need to reboot, I lose
some of my work after the reboot, or don't I?

[Bug 1457776] Re: virtualbox-dkms 4.3.10-dfsg-1ubuntu5: virtualbox kernel module failed to build

2015-08-24 Thread LocutusOfBorg
Hi Henrik, I appreciate your work, unfortunately (Debian and Ubuntu
virtualbox maintainer hat on), the patch is not good.

e.g. the first patch drops support for older kernels, you can see the right
patch here
http://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/pkg-virtualbox/virtualbox.git/commit/src/VBox/HostDrivers/VBoxNetAdp/linux/VBoxNetAdp-linux.c?id=747414b7236ec035b4ffcce62f953a7908637723

and here
http://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/pkg-virtualbox/virtualbox.git/commit/src/VBox/Runtime/r0drv/linux/alloc-r0drv-linux.c?id=747414b7236ec035b4ffcce62f953a7908637723

the problem actually is that we can't provide targeted fixes anymore for
virtualbox, since this kind of kernel build failures is much frequent,
and the vbox code changes a lot between releases.

I'm going to ask soon an exception for virtualbox, to be able to update
it to new stable releases in stable ubuntu ones, to fix CVEs and this
kind of bugs easily.

look e.g. to
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=794466
where I asked the same for Debian.

[Bug 1488077] [NEW] Have the optional ability to have a screensaver

2015-08-24 Thread The Unknown
Public bug reported:

Even though I understand that Ubuntu early on decided to move away from
screensavers and to just have a black screen, not all users will like
this. So I think that it would be good if there was at least the
optional ability in the gnome-control-center to have a screensaver. This
could possible be achieved by having gnome-screensaver installed by
default and then including some settings for it in the gnome-control-
center (as it does not have its own settings GUI, not does it integrate
with the gnome-control-center to place any settings associated with it
there).

[Bug 1482069] Re: miredo.service fails on boot

2015-08-24 Thread Dainius 'GreatEmerald' Masiliūnas
Confirmed, both the problem and the workaround, and it's present upstream too.
The issue is described here:
http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/systemd/NetworkTarget/
Requiring only network.target means requiring NetworkManager to start, but not
requiring DNS to be up; since miredo is started before DNS is up, and it can't
cope with it, the result is failure.

The possible solutions/workarounds are: 1) As per above, require
network-online.target (one can use /etc/systemd/system/miredo.service.d
/network-online.conf or similar override instead of editing the whole
file); 2) Enable NetworkManager-wait-online (not recommended as it slows
down boot); 3) Fix Miredo to wait for DNS to be up by itself.

[Bug 1486872] Re: Can skip wizard steps after you tap on notificationStorage device detected

2015-08-24 Thread Michael Terry
(Note that all wizard setup work is optional. It can all be done from
System Settings afterward. So while this bug is an annoyance, it
doesn't break anything on your phone.)

My rationale for this behavior was originally that if the user is
already comfortable using the phone, they don't need a helping hand,
just let them use it. But I grant that some people might just click on
a notification and then be lost.

I suppose that to fix this, we'd need to confirm some things with
design. I'd guess that we'd want to disable edges so that you can't
open the launcher, open the panel, or right-edge swipe from any app
that opens during the wizard or tutorial. And maybe not even show the
panel, if you can't interact with it. So basically the interaction mode
we use for the emergency phone.

But then how do you exit the app? The emergency phone has a special
button for it. But not every app that opens during the wizard is
closable from within the app. (External Storage isn't, nor is
Messaging) Without that user flow, I don't know how to force the user
back into the wizard when they are done with the app.

Have you tried connecting without the --passwd-on-stdin option? I think
that option is why you are only being prompted for the username. And
when you hit enter, you are entering a blank password string. Or at

[Bug 1303736] Re: [SRU] Black screen after wakeup from suspending by closing the laptop lid

2015-08-24 Thread Tomáš Karger
This bug also affects me on a fresh install of xubuntu 15.04. Suspend
works as expected when I do it via menu, but when I close the lid and
open it, I get a password prompt with a default wallpaper in the
background. After I type in my password and hit enter, the screen goes
blank. Also, the fix proposed on the official website does not work
here:

http://xubuntu.org/news/laptop-users-fix-available-for-the-black-screen-
on-unlock-bug/

This is on Dell XPS M1330 with Nvidia graphics handled via the nouveau
driver. However, suspend works as expected with this setup on both
Ubuntu GNOME 15.04 or Ubuntu 14.04.

[Bug 1488115] [NEW] 1. Enabling secondary monitor is slow. 2. Startup and login becomes very slow when secondary monitor is enabled.

2015-08-24 Thread Regin
Public bug reported:

1. Enabling secondary monitor is slow
- The system basically hangs, the mouse moves slowly and I'm not able to open
other application until the configuration is complete.

2. Start up and login becomes very slow when secondary monitor is enabled

[Bug 1470979] Re: ghostscript 9.15+dfsg-0ubuntu2 segmentation fault

2015-08-24 Thread Phil Carns
FYI, for anyone else who might find this entry, I found two possible
workarounds:

a) use pdftops to convert a pdf file into a ps file that will safely
print (note, this is pdftops, *not* pdf2ps)

b) installing ghostscript, ghostscript-x, libgs9, and libgs9-common
packages 9.16~dfsg~0-0ubuntu1 found here (proposed for Ubuntu Wily
15.10):

https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ghostscript/9.16~dfsg~0-0ubuntu1

The b) option is nicer because I'm back to being able to print natively
from my usual programs, and fortunately it did not require any extra
dependencies beyond those already present on my 15.04 system.

[Bug 1488116] [NEW] Local session raisen insted of networked

2015-08-24 Thread Peter Fodrek
Public bug reported:

Dear Ubuntu developers,

I am preparing local host and about 20 clients to use Ubuntu based X
terminals to teach parallel programing class.

I was used XDMCPfor openSUSE and Ubuntu as well with MAC OS X and Ubuntu remote
X servers(X-terminals) using xdm
 in the past

With Ubuntu 15.04 there is an issue. XDCMP request form X -terminal contacts
host, but host does not connect to remote X-server and instead starts local
session for host and therefore stops running unity and reach login screen with
System runs in low resolution mode error message

Is there any way to change such behavior using gdm , because it is only
display manager I was able to use pam-ldap login with Not
Listed/Someone else login name option with history of recently logged
users

I look forward hearing form you

Yours faithfully

Peter Fodrek

[Bug 1485086] Re: lshw does not display cpu information correctly on aarch64

2015-08-24 Thread dann frazier
@Manoj: can you MP a fix for vivid before we do the trusty one?
Basically like the wily one, but with the following changes:

 - Please drop the changes to s390x - it won't be supported in trusty, an SRUs
should avoid unnecessary changes.
 - Please either drop the changes on arm32 *or* verify the bug on an arm32
platform and verify the fix there.
 - Please drop the arch-independent changes (i.e. cpu-setProduct(value))
 - Please drop the __ID(@(#) change at the top of the file - it is an
unnecessary change.
 - Please make the new patch the last entry in the debian/patches/series file
 - Please add a debian/changelog entry - ideally copying the one from wily, but
with an LP bug reference.

Once we SRU the vivid one, we can move on to trusty with the same above changes.

[Bug 1442884] Re: kernel BUG at /build/buildd/linux-3.19.0/fs/btrfs/inode.c:3142!

2015-08-24 Thread Raoul Bhatia
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1413008 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1413008

This bug has effected me with linux-image-extra-3.19.0-26-generic
linux-image-3.19.0-26-generic.

I was doing an rsync job when it completely blocked.

Unable to kill rsync, not even with kill -9.
Unable to reboot -fn.
Only hard resetting the server worked.

(However, I was able to operate on ext4 partitions as I used to).
