[Bug 1501630] [NEW] Bluetooth shows "Not discoverable" when switching but not when entering/exiting

2015-10-01 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 15.04 r132

1. Navigate to System Settings > "Bluetooth", and turn on Bluetooth if it is
off.
2. Switch to another app.
3. Switch back to System Settings.
4. Tap the Back button to the System Settings main screen.
5. Return to the "Bluetooth" screen.

What happens:
3. You see "Not discoverable", with a spinner, change to "Discoverable" after a
second.
4. The navigation happens instantly.
5. You see "Discoverable" instantly.

What should happen:
3. You see "Not discoverable", with a spinner, change to "Discoverable" after a
second.
4. You see "Not discoverable" for a second before System Settings returns to
the main screen.
5. You see "Not discoverable", with a spinner, change to "Discoverable" after a
second.

: "Whenever Bluetooth
is on but you have been on the screen for less than one second, the
status text should be 'Not discoverable' opposite a spinner ... If you
navigate back to the System Settings overview, the status text should
change immediately to “Not discoverable”, without a spinner, and System
Settings should pause for one second so that you can see this."

[Bug 1495512] Re: [FFE] LibreOffice 5.0.2

2015-10-01 Thread Björn Michaelsen
** Description changed:

+ rationale:
  5.0.2 is a bugfix release, we should bump to that.
+
+ build logs:
+
https://launchpad.net/~bjoern-michaelsen/+archive/ubuntu/libreoffice-staging/+build/7991286
+
https://launchpad.net/~bjoern-michaelsen/+archive/ubuntu/libreoffice-staging/+build/7991287
+
+ The upstream version has been published to the LibreOffice ppa and is
+ been tested there by endusers for some time already without regression
+ reports. The packaging changes beyond that are minor (gtk dependency
+ version, shlibs.override) or to prevent us gaining too much delta to
+ Debian (move of liblibreofficekitgtk.so). All those have been cherry-
+ picked from Debian.

https://lists.gnupg.org/pipermail/gnupg-devel/2015-October/030336.html

I committed a fix to upstream repository for 1.4 and 2.0.

Then, I realized that Ubuntu uses GCC 5 for building gnupg. Thus,
reporting.

I'm not sure if this bug is reproducible on Ubuntu. It is reproducible on my
Debian machine.
Please check.

[Bug 1501632] [NEW] Gtk crashes when textview is wrapped inside scrollbar in special case

2015-10-01 Thread Deividas
Public bug reported:

Using glade 3.16.1, Ubuntu 14.04 x86_64.

I attach the attachment, glade project with two widgets, second one
doesn't crash (using preview snapshot on the dialog) when typing enough
newlines inside textview enough for scrollbar to appear. First
(crashingDialog) crashes for some reason after typing new lines in the
textview for scrollbar.

Second one was created to reproduce the crash in second but I couldn't,
it works for some reason... But the first one crashes, don't remember
what did I change.

 Viewed stacktrace in gdb and seems like infinite recursion and stack
overflow.

The test described in the bug fails in Ubuntu 14.04.2.

The following packages were tried as well: libnuma1 2.0.9~rc5-1ubuntu3
and numactl  2.0.9~rc5-1ubuntu3

In all cases the test failed. The efix for 14.04.1 provided by Thierry
Fauck worked but it was not used in 14.04.02

Commit 32075635db57c3d5efe12f8fb569af857e01ccad issuea warning message
/sys not mounted when it find a non existent cpu number, and that's the

[Bug 1484589] Re: Spurious volume notification when changing output role with headphones

2015-10-01 Thread Xavi Garcia
I've fixed some changes to notify the user when the active output
changes  [bug 1382548]

What happens for the Marron game is what describes bug 1485522.
We have the notification because everytime we play a sound the audio role
changes from the ringtone to multimedia.

[Bug 1501491] Re: Unable to start containers after upgrade to 1.0.7-0ubuntu0.6 on trusty

2015-10-01 Thread Steve Beattie
Packages to address the issue in lxc are currently building in the
ubuntu-security-proposed ppa: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-security-
proposed/+archive/ubuntu/ppa/ ; please test these when they complete to
verify that there aren't any additional regressions that have cropped up
in this update. Thanks for your patience!

[Bug 1501330] Re: [webapp-container] Crash with open context menu

2015-10-01 Thread Olivier Tilloy
I can reliably reproduce the issue, and I confirm that it’s not present
in the browser itself. However, in the browser, once the context menu is
up, if I continue scrolling up/down with the finger, the page below the
menu continues scrolling. It shouldn’t.

[Bug 1501644] [NEW] package squid3 3.3.8-1ubuntu14 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 2

2015-10-01 Thread Youssef El Kayyal
Public bug reported:

I had a version of squi, not old though, but i downloaded some config files
from somewhere i dont remember, then now i wanted to use pure squid
installation, i had to remove the old squid using: (as root) apt-get purge
squid
and rm -R /etc/squid3...
which in return removed my downloaded files. Ok, now i tried to re-install
squid using : (as root) apt-get install squid. i left for like 15 minutes came
back and saw the error. No tools or apps or browser were used in the time
between removing and reinstalling squid, i removed and then quickly reinstall,
i didnt restart, i didnt use applications or anything before removing squid,
not even while installing it. I hope i helped.

[Bug 1501645] [NEW] arm64 kernel has READ_IMPLIES_EXEC in personality, makes data areas executable

2015-10-01 Thread Steve Beattie
Public bug reported:

$ uname -p
aarch64
$ cat /proc/version_signature
Ubuntu 3.13.0-63.103-generic 3.13.11-ckt25
$ cat /proc/self/personality
0040

include/uapi/linux/personality.h in the linux source tree defines
"READ_IMPLIES_EXEC = 0x040,"

A patch to start to address this was submitted upstream at
https://lkml.org/lkml/2014/5/14/520 but did not get taken.

This was noticed by the nx portiong of the qrt test-kernel-security
tests on arm64 that indicate that the data sections are allowed to
execute code.

[Bug 1497828] Re: Apps appear to freeze in Unity8, although they are really still rendering (swap interval zero). Need to interact with the shell to unfreeze it.

2015-10-01 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Found roughly the cause of the freeze. This callback randomly stops
calling back:

connect(window(), ::frameSwapped, m_surface,
::onCompositorSwappedBuffers,
(Qt::ConnectionType) (Qt::DirectConnection | Qt::UniqueConnection));

and so this function no longer retrieves new buffers, just returns
early:

void MirSurface::updateTexture()
{
QMutexLocker locker(_mutex);

if (m_textureUpdated) {
return;
}

[Bug 1501343] Re: Google Calendar site doesn't show favicon

2015-10-01 Thread Michael Terry
Hrm. When trying to reproduce in the console, I kept seeing the favicon
correctly. But this wasn't a one-off problem either, I saw it a couple
times before reporting.

I'll keep the bug open for a bit in case it re-appears and I can get a
console message. But I can't reproduce right now.

[Bug 1494699] Re: [app store] Display changelog with app updates

2015-10-01 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
I added this to the spec for system updates in August 2013:

And extended it to app updates later the same month:

** Project changed: ubuntu-ux => ubuntu-system-settings (Ubuntu)

** Changed in: ubuntu-system-settings (Ubuntu)
 Assignee: Paty Davila (dizzypaty) => (unassigned)

** Description changed:

  When updating apps there is no easy way to see what has changed in the
  new version.

  When i want to know what is new in this version i have to:
  1) open the store
  2) search for the app
  3) click on the result
  4) wait for it to load, scroll down and read the changelog
  5) switch back to system settings and start the update

  It would be very nice if you could expand the row for each app and look
  at the changes.
+
+ : "For
+ any update, tapping the version number should toggle visibility of the
+ update’s description immediately below."

[Bug 1501713] [NEW] add custom ring tone, nickname and notes to contact

Public bug reported:

It is more in the whislist category that anything list, but it would be
great if we could add ring tones and notes for contact. By notes, I mean
stuff like the code for someone building, that won't have any proper
field but just a big one where we can write anything we want.

[Bug 1493223] Re: Thunderbird does not a open a link any more

2015-10-01 Thread Thomas
@davilink: I tried this already, as it is a wide spread recommendation. But it
does not help, I did some research already and tried different things already,
but nothing helps. But thanks anyway.
By the way I already tried to turn on more debugging related to this, but it is
really ugly and hard to understand. So I gave up after reading some docs how to
activate it.

[Bug 1072531] [NEW] [regression] X11 screen blanking after 10 minutes with no UI to change it

2015-10-01 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

After updating from Ubuntu 12.04 Precise to Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal, X11
has started automatically blanking the screen after 10 minutes of
inactivity even though I have set "Turn off screen when inactive" in
"Brightness and Lock" to 1 hour.

If I change "Turn off screen when inactive" to 1 minute, then the screen
turns off after 1 minute as it should, but if I set it back to 1 hour
then the screen goes back to blanking after 10 minutes, not turning off
after 1 hour as it should. So it seems that there are two independent
timers and the GUI has no effect on the 10 minute one.

Looking in xset, there is indeed a 10-minute screen blanking timeout.

Note that I am using a dual head configuration so I have an xorg0.conf
and an xorg1.conf, but there is nothing in either related to screen
blanking. Both heads experience the same problem. My other machine that
I upgraded from 12.04 to 12.10 does not.

Running "xset s 0 0" avoids the problem.

[Bug 277903] Re: Missing Operating System [message at boot]

2015-10-01 Thread TJ
** Description changed:

  I'm reviving this report since the issue is still present in 14.04 and
  15.10 syslinux, which is used in the various flavour hybrid ISOs, via
  mbr/isohdpfx.{S,bin}

  The same system I originally reported in comment #30 is still affected.

  Original upstream discussion (March 2009):
  http://www.syslinux.org/archives/2009-March/012254.html

  Peter reworked the patches in 2009 and created additional MBRs with the
  suffix "_c" (press Ctrl to force disk 0x80) and "_f" (unconditionally
  force disk 0x80).

  See: http://www.syslinux.org/wiki/index.php/Mbr

  These images are in the Ubuntu 14.04 package but were removed (in
- Debian) with:
+ Debian) - and no longer in later Ubuntu releases - with:

  syslinux (3:6.03~pre19+dfsg-3) unstable; urgency=low

    * Also skipping isohd*x_{c,f}.bin in syslinux-common.

[Bug 1487471] Re: Udev rule for MTP with nvidia Shield

2015-10-01 Thread Sebastien Bacher
** Description changed:

+ * Impact
+ the device is not listed in the desktop interface
+
+ * Test case
+ somebody owning the device there should connect it to an ubuntu desktop and
check that it's correctly list
+
+ * Regression potential
+ check that mtp devices keep working as they should (listed in nautilus, can
copy files, etc)
+
+
+
  Hello,

  Nvidia shield tab won't connect with mtp protocol on Ubuntu 14.04.3
  It's a big trouble, many users tell me cameras or Svidia Shield are not
supported.

  To fix it for Nvidia Shield, we need to add the following Udev rule :

  in file /lib/udev/rules.d/69-libmtp.rules

  add this line :
  ATTR{idVendor}=="0955", ATTR{idProduct}=="cf07", SYMLINK+="libmtp-%k",
MODE="660", GROUP="audio", ENV{ID_MTP_DEVICE}="1", ENV{ID_MEDIA_PLAYER}="1"

  then of course restart udev service :
  sudo service udev restart
