[Bug 1502738] [NEW] X apps are very laggy under Xmir

2015-10-04 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Public bug reported:

X apps are very laggy under Xmir.

This is a simple problem whereby Xmir has introduced a second layer of
nesting on top of an already laggy nested system.

I have a solution for this bug ready, but it can't be enabled until
Unity8 bug 1497828 is fixed.

[Bug 1498738] Re: Xmir -rootless: Menus sometimes appear in the wrong place

2015-10-04 Thread Daniel van Vugt
** Summary changed:

- Xmir: Menus sometimes appear in the wrong place
+ Xmir -rootless: Menus sometimes appear in the wrong place

** Description changed:

- Xmir: Menus sometimes appear in the wrong place
+ Xmir: Menus sometimes appear in the wrong place when using -rootless

In the past fortnight I've got menu placement working for the first
time. However if you use an app for a little while its sub-surface
placement (including menus) will sometimes get confused. And menus start
to appear more around the middle of the app window.

[Bug 1446247] Re: Lubuntu 15.04 - No power indicator in applet indicator

2015-10-04 Thread A. Liang
By following the URL provided by Schneider, I managed to have the
battery indicator back to work on Lubuntu 15.04(upgraded from 14.10).
Here are my manual installation steps of xubuntu-staging without using
'apt-get dist-upgrade:'

1. goto
https://launchpad.net/~xubuntu-dev/+archive/ubuntu/xubuntu-staging/+sourcepub/5186374/+listing-archive-extra
and download packages based on your architecture. For example:
$ wget
https://launchpad.net/~xubuntu-dev/+archive/ubuntu/xubuntu-staging/+files/xfce4-power-manager-data_1.5.2-0ubuntu1%7E15.10_all.deb
$ wget
https://launchpad.net/~xubuntu-dev/+archive/ubuntu/xubuntu-staging/+files/xfce4-power-manager-plugins_1.5.2-0ubuntu1%7E15.10_amd64.deb
$ wget
https://launchpad.net/~xubuntu-dev/+archive/ubuntu/xubuntu-staging/+files/xfce4-power-manager_1.5.2-0ubuntu1%7E15.10_amd64.deb
2. get the latest libxfce4panel-2.0. For example:
$ wget
http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ubuntu/ubuntu/ubuntu/pool/universe/x/xfce4-panel/libxfce4panel-2.0-4_4.12.0-3ubuntu2_amd64.deb
3. install libxfce4-ui-2-0 for one of he required dependencies:
$ sudo apt-get install libxfce4ui-2-0
4. update xfce4-power-manager to 1.5.x by installing .deb files downloaded in
step 1 and 2:
$ sudo dpkg -i libxfce4panel-2.0-4_4.12.0-3ubuntu2_amd64.deb
xfce4-power-manager-data_1.5.2-0ubuntu1~15.10_all.deb
xfce4-power-manager_1.5.2-0ubuntu1~15.10_amd64.deb
xfce4-power-manager-plugins_1.5.2-0ubuntu1~15.10_amd64.deb
5. run xfce4-power-manager-settings command from the command line and then
check that Status notifications and System tray icon are set to ON.
6. run xfce4-power-manager --restart from the command line

The resize logic in question was rewritten recently to work (better) in

also already logged as bug 1417541. So we'll track it there.

[Bug 1502719] Re: Desktop installer erases LVM partition without warning or undo, data loss

2015-10-04 Thread cmcginty
I could not figure out what it exactly did. After I dumped the LVM2
metadata, I could see that it erased all of the logical volumes, volume
group and physical volume. LVM save a buffer of all the changes and I
was able to recover the original state. However, after rebuilding the PV
with the old UUID and importing the old VG and LV configs some of my LV
file systems were corrupted and could not be recovered. One of the old
LV mounted correctly with all data, however this was not the one I was
hoping to get back.

I'm sure the next person that hits this will really appreciate it if you
could fix this.

[Bug 882942] Re: NaCL is missing

2015-10-04 Thread Robert Orzanna
Dear Timo,

Thanks for your comment. I need Chrome Sync as much as I need NaCL
support.

Thus the best solution I see for now is to use both, Ubuntu Chromium
built (Chrome Sync) and Chrome (for NaCL).

Warmly,

Robert

[Bug 1502568] Re: Missing SV translation from package

2015-10-04 Thread Josef Andersson
Think I found the bug: Under folder locale in the package, see file Makefile.am.
The locale dirs lists all langue dirs. For Swedish it's listed as sv_SE which
was changed in boinc to just sv quite a while ago. (see
http://lists.ssl.berkeley.edu/pipermail/boinc_loc/2015-March/002435.html )
So Makefile.am wont ever copy it.

Natural means that the windows should have their proportional size from
each other.

[Bug 1502578] [NEW] HPLIP plugin installer hangs forever

2015-10-04 Thread Bernd Laser
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 15.10 Wily Werewolf

The plugin needed for the scanner included with my HP CM1415fn MFP
cannot be installed. The plugin installer hangs just after I did accept
the terms and never returns. There is no difference whether that was
started from hp-setup, hp-toolbox or hp-plugin.

Please note, that hp-plugin must not be started as root anymore; it just
prints an error message then. Aso hp-plugin-ubuntu does not work at all
anymore just because of that reason.

>From the log below you can see that download of the plugin works OK but
installation hangs forever.

[Bug 1502581] [NEW] [needs-packaging] openrc

2015-10-04 Thread Robert Millan
Public bug reported:

OpenRC is a dependency based init system. It provides support for System
V init, for booting, changing runlevels, starting and stopping services,
and shutting down.

Originally written as a Gentoo project, OpenRC is 100% compatible with
Gentoo init scripts. OpenRC, however, is not exclusively used by Gentoo
Linux, and aims at being platform-agnostic, and supporting the old style
init system historically available in Debian.

This package provides the runlevel change mechanism.

[Bug 1502582] [NEW] In-game dialogs give black screen

Public bug reported:

The game offers various in-game dialogs, in response to game conditions
or actions. These are supposed to provide text panels superimposed on
the game view, but instead they result in a black screen until ESC is
pressed to exit the dialog. Meanwhile, the game's debug output produces
a message such as:

[Bug 1502581] Re: [needs-packaging] openrc

2015-10-04 Thread Hans Joachim Desserud
Thanks for taking your time to report this issue and help making Ubuntu
better.

I wanted to check whether this had already been requested, and I found
that openrc has actually been packaged and is available in Ubuntu 15.04
and later. :) See https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openrc

If this looks ok, I believe this issue can be closed as Fix Released.

[Bug 1502598] Re: Boot hangs on encryption password prompt on 3.19.0-30

2015-10-04 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Mark Adams, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better.
Could you please test the latest upstream kernel available from the very
top line at the top of the page from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-
ppa/mainline/?C=N;O=D (the release names are irrelevant for testing, and
please do not test the daily folder)? Install instructions are available
at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds . This will allow
additional upstream developers to examine the issue.

If the latest kernel did not allow you to test to the issue (ex. you couldn't
boot into the OS) please make a comment in your report about this, and continue
to test the next most recent kernel version until you can test to the issue.
Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version
specifically you tested. If this issue is fixed in the mainline kernel, please
add the following tags by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil
icon, next to the word Tags, located at the bottom of the report description:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-X.Y-rcZ

Where X, Y, and Z are numbers corresponding to the kernel version.

If the mainline kernel does not fix the issue, please add the following tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream
kernel-bug-exists-upstream-X.Y-rcZ

Please note, an error to install the kernel does not fit the criteria of
kernel-bug-exists-upstream.

Once testing of the latest upstream kernel is complete, please mark this
report's Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Bug 1493814] Re: [Acer Travelmate B115-M] Synaptic touchpad

2015-10-04 Thread Josep Pujadas-Jubany
System is unstable with 3.13.0-rc8.

It doesn't boot or if it boots blank screen after some seconds.

Some weeks ago I migrated from 3.13 branch to 3.19 branch (lts-vivid)
just because I had problems with 3.13 branch.

I updated yesterday and got this issue afterwards.

I tried the following workaround with worked for me :

[Bug 1502569] [NEW] The desktop icons are not positioned correctly when connecting second screen

2015-10-04 Thread Адександр Козак
Public bug reported:

Here is the desktop when the second screen is not connected (look at the icon
position): https://yadi.sk/d/pMx3hdrUjVqJ7
If you connect a second screen, the icons away from the desktop on the first
screen: https://yadi.sk/d/9vWDOW-UjVqLn
I think these icons are arranged on the upper boundary of the second screen on
the left border of the first screen. What part of them is not visible.
This is confirmed, if I change the position of the screens:

[Bug 1502570] [NEW] gnome-panel indirectly installs evolution

2015-10-04 Thread Alkis Georgopoulos
Public bug reported:

http://packages.ubuntu.com/wily/gnome-panel
gnome-panel Recommends: evolution-common
...which in turn Recommends: evolution

Is this on purpose?
Could you please lower the "Recommends" to "Suggests"?
Gnome-flashback isn't a flavor with a live CD etc, so it makes more sense to
keep the vanilla Ubuntu defaults, i.e. thunderbird as the mailer...

If evolution-common is necessary for gnome-flashback, but evolution
isn't, please mention it so that we ask them instead to lower their
Recommends to Suggests.

** Affects: gnome-panel (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 1301623] Re: unity freezes when moving windows among workspaces

2015-10-04 Thread Marcus
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 815996 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/815996

Looks like an old nightmare returning :-)
I often use workspaces and change windows between them. I've had the first
"freeze" this morning.

Whilst waiting a patch, y You don't need to reboot. Simply got to
console (e.g. Ctrl+alt+F1), identify de gnome-session PID (ps -ef | grep
gnome-session) and kill it. The graphic console will return to the login
screen.

And yes; it doesn't freeze if you grab the center of the screen you're
moving, not the bar.

[Bug 1465685] Re: OTA4 SMS function now fails

2015-10-04 Thread LionelB
I have tried the Phonecoop SIM for the first time since the new OTA. A
'new voicemail' message appeared in Notifications. It dates to 19
September, as it turns out. Has appeared for the first time today
though.

Today, I made a call twice to a short dial number. Both times it went
through okay. So now I have credit ! My call to the voicemail (again
using short dial) also went through without any problem.

A test text message just sent without problems.

It appears therefore that Phonecoop is now functioning properly again. I
am still using the original SIM.

Seems that the OTA must have included a fix.

[Bug 1502055] Re: Crypt password screen not responding

I'm experiencing the same issue running after upgrading to 3.19.0-30-generic.
If I downgrade to 3.19.0-28-generic, the password prompt for my encrypted disk
behaves normally and I'm able to boot.

[Bug 1500757] Re: Ubiquity crashed during installation on Btrfs

2015-10-04 Thread Jan Rathmann
Strange, yesterday I tried to reproduce the bug again (with current
daily image), and this time it neither happened with an Ext4 nor with a
Btrfs partition (installation was successful and old @home subvolume was
correctly mounted).

Perhaps it had been implicitly fixed during the last week?

Kind regards,
Jan

[Bug 1502593] [NEW] bwm-ng: Changing input method causes program to quit

2015-10-04 Thread AZ
Public bug reported:

When changing input method the program exists with a non-zero exit
status (1) with the message:

libstatgrab error!

I'm running
ii bwm-ng0.6-3.1ubuntu2amd64
small and simple console-based bandwidth monitor
on ubuntu trusty.

This is the same as
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=746014

Upstream fixed this with
https://github.com/vgropp/bwm-ng/commit/20c51f46720dbf329e0ec46654d55b2e4d696a8a

which would also apply to the ubuntu package.

** Affects: bwm-ng (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New
