[Bug 1451170] Re: [ ASUS N550LF , Realtek ALC668, Speaker, Internal] To much sound

2015-10-08 Thread dubis
@Raymond

   sudo echo 1 > /sys/module/snd_hda_codec/parameters/coef_dump

The coef_dump doesn't exist and the command above will create it.
There is a file named "dump_coef" in this directory which is contining
"-1" inside.

Do I apply the command that you gave me before provide alsa-info.sh
result?

2015-10-08 Thread David Oxland
Shutdown via term.
Current,as described before with 14.04 LTS updated every day. and a few
reboots from stopped machine.
Mentioned on 2015-09-25 that I had to install 14.04. on and no problem since.
 It is or something similar is happening again.
 sudo shutdown 3 min. brings me to black screen with power on
indicated. .
 -pushing it brings a 10 seconds of hard drive activity and then a power lamp
is off for good.

--Shutdown via Gui is as expected.

[Bug 1503656] Re: package libpam-systemd:amd64 204-5ubuntu20.15 failed to install/upgrade: package is in a very bad inconsistent state; you should reinstall it before attempting configuration

2015-10-08 Thread Martin Pitt
There are no logs here which would show what led to the bad state of
libpam-systemd, and after your dist-upgrade the package is now installed
fine, so we lost the evidence of what went wrong. You apparently used
"apt-get upgrade" before, which doesn't write any further logs (such as
the update manager), so I'm afraid there's nothing else we can do here.
Thanks!

[Bug 1504404] [NEW] Imported image got black

2015-10-08 Thread omvsj
Public bug reported:

Mint 17.2
LibO 5.0.2 from PPA

When I try to Insert -> Image, select a file, (if activated Preview it
shows correctly) and then Insert, I only get a Black Box in big images
(2.9 mb)

It also happens if I try to Copy & Paste or Dragging

I tried with LibO 4.4.3 rc2 from Mint 17.2 and I got the same results
inserting, copying or dragging: a Black Box.

[Bug 1439769] Re: various linux packages being marked as manually installed, still prevents 'apt-get autoremove' from doing the right thing for kernels

2015-10-08 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package aptdaemon - 1.1.1+bzr982-0ubuntu13

---
aptdaemon (1.1.1+bzr982-0ubuntu13) wily; urgency=medium

  * Drop Vcs-Bzr from debian/control:
- The branch pointed to is "ubuntu-vivid". This is obviously incorrect
  for wily; and you shouldn't have to do a busywork update of Vcs-Bzr
  with each release.
- Uploaders do not have commit rights on the listed branch. A Vcs-Bzr
  field should only point to a branch that uploaders have rights to,
  otherwise it can never be authoritative.
  * debian/patches/lp1439769-aptdaemon-autoinstall.patch: Take a flag to
indicate whether a requested package is auto-installed. Thanks to
Michael Vogt . Closes LP: #1439769.

[Bug 1495178] Re: Failed to set wall message, ignoring: Message recipient disconnected from message bus without replying

2015-10-08 Thread Martin Pitt
This was perfectly reproducible until 225-1ubuntu4, and got fixed in
225-1ubuntu5. If you can still reproduce this crash (after a fresh
boot), please tell me how. My gut feeling is that the version number of
the recent duplicates is wrong as you probably upgraded to the latest
version (which doesn't restart logind), then restarted the computer, so
apport thought you already have the new package version?

Reverting 5edd996 (mesa: Use the effective internal format instead for

There appear to be two potential problems here. One is that Weston
tries to use GL_EXT_abgr in ES even though it is not an ES extension.
The second is that mesa advertises it and then falls over when you try
to use it. If we weren't advertising it, Weston would fall back to
other paths and be OK. I see two options:

 1) Actually support the extension even though it isn't technically an ES
extension.
 2) Stop advertising it.

I'm going to hazard a guess and say that mesa is probably the only ES
driver to support GL_EXT_abgr.

Thoughts?

I don't think you mean GL_EXT_abgr, I don't see Weston using that.

Weston is using GL_BGRA_EXT format, when GL_EXT_texture_format_BGRA
extension is available. Weston's GL-renderer refuses to start without
this extension.

I believe this is because GL_BGRA_EXT, GL_UNSIGNED_BYTE matches the
WL_SHM_FORMAT_XRGB and WL_SHM_FORMAT_ARGB layouts, so we can
avoid a conversion.

[Bug 1445436] Re: Segmentation faults in libapt-pkg.so.4.12.0

2015-10-08 Thread Ken Sharp
To add to the above comment: indeed, it isn't all systems that are
affected. I have multiple systems here and only some are affected.
TylerStyle's previous acknowledgement attests to this.

And in case some wally claims, again, that the bug report is lacking I
will reiterate this *very clearly stated* point:

"Furthermore it is completely impossible for me to report a bug with
apport."

apport clearly relies on this lib.

2015-10-08 Thread TylerStyle
This bug is definitely alive and well in the wild; I encountered it today on my
Linux Mint 17.2 + MATE install.
Key Sharp's workaround did the trick, but it definitely shouldn't bomb out of
the box like that.
If someone can tell me what they'd like in terms of reporting, I can easily
provide it.
Strangely enough, this only is affecting my Toshiba laptop - my custom PC with
a very similar install is unaffected.

[Bug 1503399] Re: Fn+F2 is not working for activating/deactivating wifi.

2015-10-08 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Xorso, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better.
Could you please test the latest upstream kernel available from the very
top line at the top of the page from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-
ppa/mainline/?C=N;O=D (the release names are irrelevant for testing, and
please do not test the daily folder)? Install instructions are available
at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds . This will allow
additional upstream developers to examine the issue.

If the latest kernel did not allow you to test to the issue (ex. you couldn't
boot into the OS) please make a comment in your report about this, and continue
to test the next most recent kernel version until you can test to the issue.
Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version
specifically you tested. If this issue is fixed in the mainline kernel, please
add the following tags by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil
icon, next to the word Tags, located at the bottom of the report description:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-X.Y-rcZ

Where X, Y, and Z are numbers corresponding to the kernel version.

If the mainline kernel does not fix the issue, please add the following tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream
kernel-bug-exists-upstream-X.Y-rcZ

Please note, an error to install the kernel does not fit the criteria of
kernel-bug-exists-upstream.

Once testing of the latest upstream kernel is complete, please mark this
report's Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results.

Thank you for your understanding.

FWIW I can't recall getting this error on the 4.2 kernels currently in
Wily. This might be fixed in 15.10.

[Bug 1499650] Re: local applications are not shown in menu (LXDE)

2015-10-08 Thread Alkis Georgopoulos
Since the code that breaks XDG_DATA_DIRS is in LXDE, LTSP can't fix it without
directly patching startlxde.
This can not be done in a non-intrusive way for thin clients as it requires
breaking the server installation (wrong debsums etc).

I'm marking this as won't fix, please file the bug report against LXDE
instead.

[Bug 1504382] [NEW] Error on Add Clip in Project menu

2015-10-08 Thread Norio Suzuki
Public bug reported:

I upgraded to Ubuntu 15.10 beta from Ubuntu 15.04 and found I can not
add clip file into my project.

* Error:

When I selected "Add clip" from the top menu bar "Project" on kdenlive,
the error message dialog "The name org.kde.klauncher5 was not provided
by any .service files" pop upped. And no file and directory names
displayed where they shoud be. This error was not seen on Ubuntu 15.04.

* Error message:

The name org.kde.klauncher5 was not provided by any .service files

* Enviroment:

$ lsb_release -a
No LSB modules are available.
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description:Ubuntu Wily Werewolf (development branch)
Release:15.10
Codename:   wily

$ dpkg -l|grep kdenlive
ii  kdenlive4:15.08.1-0ubuntu2
   i386 non-linear video editor
ii  kdenlive-data   4:15.08.1-0ubuntu2
   all non-linear video editor (data files)

$ env|grep LANG
LANG=ja_JP.UTF-8
GDM_LANG=ja
LANGUAGE=ja

* Workaround:

I seached Web pages and found the page, "Problem with KDE programs after
upgrading to 15.04" on ask ubuntu http://askubuntu.com/questions/617955
/problem-with-kde-programs-after-upgrading-to-15-04 .

This is the page to resolve my problem. After I installed kinit package,
the error disapeared and I can add clip files.

[Bug 1481025] Re: Keyboard shortcut for layout switching works in Unity but not in Gnome-Flashback

2015-10-08 Thread Alkis Georgopoulos
1) It works fine for me with no regressions at all, thank you very much.

2) I just noticed that contrary to what I wrote in the bug title, ibus also
breaks Unity, but only a little, so I hadn't noticed before.
It eats up the accent but only the first time that the user tries it. I.e.
";" + "a" = "ά"
...does work in Unity, but not the first time after the layout switch, where a
play "α" is output.

3) About the "no longer affects: ibus, gnome-flashback" etc, I think that those
were still valid, that the 1% of the Greeks or other locale users that need
ibus or fcitx to type in hebrew etc, shouldn't have their local language broken.
But it's OK for me if we want to keep this one specific to im-config. Someone
in that 1% can open another bug report.

Thanks again.

[Bug 1504371] Re: [Toshiba Satellite P55W-B5112] Touchscreen not working

2015-10-08 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
George Jones, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu
better. Could you please test the latest upstream kernel available from
the very top line at the top of the page from http://kernel.ubuntu.com
/~kernel-ppa/mainline/?C=N;O=D (the release names are irrelevant for
testing, and please do not test the daily folder)? Install instructions
are available at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds . This
will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue.

[Bug 1504321] Re: Freeze after selecting text in LO while using nouveau

2015-10-08 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Daniel M, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better.
As per
https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P5K_PremiumWiFiAP/HelpDesk_Download/
an update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available
(1101). If you update to this following
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything?

If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the
output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette
.

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't
have to create a new bug report.

Once the BIOS is updated, if the problem is still reproducible, and the
information above is provided, then please mark this report Status
Confirmed. Otherwise, please mark this as Invalid.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Bug 1498667] Re: [Toshiba P50W-B00F] Touchscreen no longer working

2015-10-08 Thread George Jones
Pardon the double post but there seems to be no way to edit previous
posts. I can compile any patches and test them on my laptop if you need
this to be done on my specific hardware. I know how difficult it is
finding and patching a bug without the specific hardware to test the
patch.

Jonathan Brier, I wanted to clarify that the scope of this report is your Cisco
Linksys device, not the built-in WiFi. This is as dealing with each device
separately in their own reports is preferred both upstream and downstream.
Hence, to scope a different report regarding your built-in WiFi, please file a
report about it via a terminal:
ubuntu-bug linux

Please feel free to subscribe me to it.

[Bug 1504220] Re: Black screen after "prime-select nvidia" and restart of lightdm/reboot

2015-10-08 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Rene Greuel, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu
better. As per http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-
netbooks/thinkpad-s-series-laptops/thinkpad-s430 an update to your
computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (2.61). If you update to
this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it
change anything?

If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the
output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date
