[Bug 1503800] Re: BUG: unable to handle kernel paging request at ffffebe000000000

2015-10-09 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
foulonarnaud, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu
better. As per http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-
netbooks/thinkpad-t-series-laptops/thinkpad-t510 an update to your
computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (1.52). If you update to
this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it
change anything?

If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the
output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette
.

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't
have to create a new bug report.

Once the BIOS is updated, if the problem is still reproducible, and the
information above is provided, then please mark this report Status
Confirmed. Otherwise, please mark this as Invalid.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Bug 1503754] Re: BUG unable to handle kernel page request at ffffebe000000000

2015-10-09 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
emmsarris, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better.
Could you please test the latest upstream kernel available from the very
top line at the top of the page from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-
ppa/mainline/?C=N;O=D (the release names are irrelevant for testing, and
please do not test the daily folder)? Install instructions are available
at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds . This will allow
additional upstream developers to examine the issue.

If the latest kernel did not allow you to test to the issue (ex. you couldn't
boot into the OS) please make a comment in your report about this, and continue
to test the next most recent kernel version until you can test to the issue.
Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version
specifically you tested. If this issue is fixed in the mainline kernel, please
add the following tags by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil
icon, next to the word Tags, located at the bottom of the report description:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-X.Y-rcZ

Where X, Y, and Z are numbers corresponding to the kernel version.

If the mainline kernel does not fix the issue, please add the following tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream
kernel-bug-exists-upstream-X.Y-rcZ

Please note, an error to install the kernel does not fit the criteria of
kernel-bug-exists-upstream.

Once testing of the latest upstream kernel is complete, please mark this
report's Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Bug 1458615] Re: Ubuntu Softwer Center does not start

2015-10-09 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read "How to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

[Bug 1504445] Re: FocalTech touchpad stops working after suspend

2015-10-09 Thread Thatoo
Thank you Pilot6, so my guess was right.
I had to do it because to file in this bug, I had to boot into the Ubuntu
kernel (not mainline) and type the command "ubuntu-bug linux"

When I go to /usr/src,
sudo ls
here is the list of folders
bbswitch-0.7 linux-headers-4.1.6-040106
focaltech-1.5linux-headers-4.1.6-040106-generic
linux-headers-3.13.0-65 linux-source-3.13.0
linux-headers-3.13.0-65-generic linux-source-3.13.0.tar.bz2
linux-headers-3.19.0-28 nvidia-355-355.11
linux-headers-3.19.0-28-generic psmouse-elantech-v7
linux-headers-3.19.0-30 psmouse-elantech-v7.tar.bz2
linux-headers-3.19.0-30-generic

Why is there psmouse-elantech-v7 and psmouse-elantech-v7.tar.bz2 whereas
my touchpad is a focaltech???

Re: [Bug 1502675] Re: Webview turns black when it gets refocused

2015-10-09 Thread JkB
Hi, Yes.

Right now I do not have a standalone, but while working on lp:unav
I encountered this for our Oxide.Webview also.

If you have unav installed try:
- Start the app and go for a HeaderAction like info or settings and then
go back: it will behave as in webbrowser-app. You will encounter a black
screen for part of a second.
- If I am on a route (meaning that there is a lot of active js content
in the webview) this behaviour extents to up to a second.

It seems that this behaviour falls back to oxide.

I will try to get a standalone example as soon as i have a bit more
spare time.

[Bug 1503931] Re: BUG: unable to handle kernel paging request at fffffffffffffff8

2015-10-09 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
afz12, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better.

[Bug 1504321] Re: Freeze after selecting text in LO while using nouveau

2015-10-09 Thread Daniel M
Christopher, Thank you for your rapid response.
Since posting the bug last night I have switched nvidia driver (as others
suggested in the original thread). This has solved the problem for me.
I'll try to find the time to switch back to nouveau and check out your bios fix
but I'm a little busy for the next week or so - the freeze issue has been
interfering with my work and now I need to make up lost time. If the bios fix
doesn't work for me then I'll let you know.

[Bug 1504445] Re: FocalTech touchpad stops working after suspend

2015-10-09 Thread Pilot6
With kernel 3.19 the touchpad is not recognized. That can be fixed by
installing the Focaltech driver from my ppa.
It will not work if you installed another Elantech driver.

So this is not a bug report, but a support request.

In kernel 4.2 (Ubuntu 15.10) the touchpad is recognized out of the box.

[Bug 1421559] Re: [Clock] Should be able to silence alarm using power button

2015-10-09 Thread Paty Davila
** Description changed:

  krillin @rtm #16

  Reproduce:
  1. Set alarm
  2. Let alarm go off, but do not turn it off immediately—do not touch the
phone surface, wait until the screen goes black
  3. Try to disable alarm

  What happens:
You need to turn on screen, press "OK" on alarm

  What should have happened:
I should be able to silence the alarm using the power button. On iOS and
Android power button enable snooze to prevent accidential disabling alarm.

Rationale: I set two alarms on weekdays, one at 07:07 and one at 09:07.
When I wake up at 07:07 and go to school, the 09:07 alarm goes off
during class. Removing the phone from my pocket, swiping, unlocking and
dismissing the alarm, always takes about 3-4 rings.

Also when someone forget phone in the office, then it will be no
  possibility to disable alarm.

  Related to bug 1340329.
+
+ UX Comment
+
+ Please see desired behaviour described below:
+
+ - If alarm goes off, user can tap power button to snooze it.
+
+ - If the screen is in idle, the alarm dialog will wake up the screen
+ (see screen blanking policy doc:
+
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1RBoVknCLZ4GQ8E_iVftd3i_KmdxI5d6JrBt7i5EDZO0/edit?usp=sharing).
+ The alarm will contain two action buttons: 'Snooze' and 'Off'.
+
+ - User can also dismiss the alarm in the dedicated app's UI.

[Bug 1504462] [NEW] REGRESSION in Kubuntu Vivid 15.04: Okular ignores "default applications" in KDE system settings

2015-10-09 Thread Sergio Callegari
Public bug reported:

Hi,

in Ubuntu Vivid, KDE applications such as Okular, completely ignore the default
applications defined in the KDE system settings.
This happens with the KDE PPA that provides plasma 5.3.2 and frameworks 5.12.

To reproduce:

- Open the KDE system settings -> Applications -> Default applications
configuration windows
- Indicate that you want to use a "Different email client"
- Select thunderbird as the email client
- Open a document containing a mailto: link in Okular
- Click on the link and see kmail popping up.

Unfortunately, having configuration options that are visible but do
nothing can be a major source of confusion.

Does someone know if this is fixed in the upcoming Wily?

[Bug 1446298] Re: Should show power dialog when turning on screen with a long-press

2015-10-09 Thread Paty Davila
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1486953 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1486953

** Description changed:

To work around the power dialog appearing on resume, I implemented a
band-aid fix [1] that prevented showing the dialog when the screen was
off. But I didn't think of the case where you are waking up your device
with an intentional long-press to show the power dialog.

Currently, we don't show the dialog, we just turn on the screen.
Ideally we'd also show the power dialog.

This is a break-out bug from bug 1445662.

  [1] https://code.launchpad.net/~mterry/unity8/no-shutdown-dialog-while-
  suspended/+merge/246445

  -UX comment-

When the screen is in idle mode and you long press the power button the
  following should happen:

  1. Screen turns on and stays on
  2. Power Dialog popps up after the same delay as if the screen was turned on
already.

I checked Android and iOS and all of then ask for confirmation from the
  user.
+
+
+ Please refer to the Screen blanking policy document for the correct
behaviour:

[Bug 1486953] Re: Power-off dialog doesn't appear if power key press begins when screen is off

2015-10-09 Thread Paty Davila

Assignee: (unassigned) => Andrea Bernabei (faenil)

** Changed in: ubuntu-ux

** Changed in: ubuntu-ux
   Status: New => Fix Committed

** Description changed:

  On arale with rc.proposed:

  1. Ensure the screen is off
  2. Press the power button and keep it pressed

  Expected result:
The screen should turn on and the power-off dialog should appear after a few
seconds.

  Actual result:
The screen turns on but the power-off dialog doesn't appear. Eventually the
phone reboots. I assume that this is because of hard reboot caused by pressing
the power button for long enough, but more investigation is needed.

[Bug 1175947] Re: gvfs-copy --preserve doesn't work with MTP devices

2015-10-09 Thread Grzegorz Ciołek
Andrew could you test copying files inside phone and check timestamps i.e.:
- Internal <> Internal,
- Internal <> SD Card
- Internal <> USB (OTG).

Does any of your devices has an encrypted internal partition ?

As far as I can recall there can be these issues regarding timestamps:

- gvfs (Internal, SD, USB)
- FUSE implementation (SD and USB)
- Encryption (Internal, SD, USB)

My S4 had these issues since 4.2.

Happy to hear that it works for you :-).

[Bug 1504445] Re: FocalTech touchpad stops working after suspend

2015-10-09 Thread Thatoo
Pilot6, my ubuntu is a fresh install of 14.04 and I didn't install in purpose
any pilot for Elantech driver
About kernel, I didn't install kernel 3.13 and neither 3.19 by myself, I guess
they have been installed during the fresh install and some update.

The only thing I did myself was to install kernel 4.1.6 because I read
somewhere that it makes the system recognise the touchpad. My problem at
that time was not to solve the problem after suspending the computer but
to make my touchpad recognise and not just be a simple mouse.

If that was wrong, I didn't know about your pilot, I've just discovered
it this morning when I was researching more.

What should I do now?
