[Bug 1455916] Re: Xorg unexpectedly crashed

2015-10-12 Thread Stephane Lapie
I also have confirmed the bug, it just happened right now, and here is
the crash dump for metacity.

It feels like gnome-session is trying to restart metacity too fast, when
waiting a few seconds before respawning it would avoid this problem...

[Bug 1488660] Re: Intermittent bug with additional applets appearing

2015-10-12 Thread Julien Lavergne
After some testing, it seems that the change in indicator-application-
gtk2 is correct, but it triggered another bug on lxpanel, or the
interaction between lxpanel and indicator-application-gtk2. As far as I
can see, the startup sequence mess up the applet. I still try to know
which event trigger this.

[Bug 1403792] Re: brightness of one of two screens no longer adjustable with hotkeys and menu

2015-10-12 Thread Karl-Philipp Richter
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected rc-7.3.2+15.04.20150420-0ubuntu1 vivid

** Description changed:

  Without noticible cause the brightness of the screen of my laptop is no
  longer adjustable and stuck at the lowest level. Both the hotkey on my
  keyboard and the brightness submenu in the system settings no longer
  show any reaction to changes (i.e. key pressing and using the regulation
  bar in the menu).

  The issue persists accross reboots which makes the main screen of my
  laptop unusable and it necessary to plug in an extra monitor!

  I had this issue on an unknown version of Ubuntu < 14.10 and the
  installation of `indicator-brightness` (https://launchpad.net
  /~indicator-brightness/+archive/ubuntu/ppa) and setting the brightness
  in it once to the lowest and then to the highest level fixed the issue
  (persistently accross reboots), but now it doesn't show any reaction
  neither (I adjusted the package soucres to point to `trusty` after `sudo
  add-apt-repository ppa:indicator-brightness/ppa` in order to be able to
  install in 14.10). When the issue occured `indicator-brightness` was not
  installed.

  I could only fix the issue by rebooting and entering BIOS/EFI menu and
  using brightness hotkeys there.

[Bug 1465196] Re: open-iscsi init script creates dependency cycle with NetworkManager

2015-10-12 Thread Vincent Ladeuil
I ran into that bug again now that I really need open-iscsi ;)

I'm using systemd on vivid.

I want to mount remote disks but I don't want to boot from one.

s/remote_fs/local_fs/ in /etc/init.d/open-iscsi doesn't seem to be
enough :-/

Purging open-iscsi (and removing the mount from fstab) was the only
escape path.

I'd try to reproduce on a test system but any advice on what I can try
next warmly welcome ;)

Surelock: GA2: z138e: System and FSP dumps are not moving from FSP to Ubuntu
15.10 partition during continous user dump test, TER 93148

Note(s)
++
This system is in use for Surelock GA2 Hardware Systems Test. You should
contact the system tester or defect submitter before performing any disruptive
actions.

Problem Description

On Ubuntu 15.10 partition, I created directory /var/log/dump and installed the
ppc64-diag package. I ran following commands to complete both tasks.
sudo mkdir /var/log/dump #Create dump directory
sudo apt-get install ppc64-diag #install PPC64 diagnostic package

Afterwards, I ran HTX to exercise the hardware in system, specifically
focused on exercising between Corsa-CAPI cards and the flash system.
Then, I started TER 93148 for continuous user dump. For TER 93148, I
ran a script that continuously intiates a USER dump about every 2 hours.
The system dump and fsp dump are expected to move from FSP to Ubuntu
partition after system reaches runtime and boots the Ubuntu partition.
However, the system and FSP dumps aren't getting moved from the FSP to
the Ubuntu partition.

System and FSP dumps still present on FSP
Not getting moved to ubuntu partition despite
creating /var/log/dump/ and installing ppc64-diag
on ubuntu partition

The unit is "disabled" initially, and then after i manually run "enable"
it becomes "enabled." This seems to indicate that the debs that we
installed aren't quite doing the right things after their installation.
This is a bug that needs to go to launchpad for fix out in ubuntu - not
something that's specific to surelock.

It's a good find either way.

Summary: ppc64-diag, when installed on Ubuntu 15.10 does not
automatically "enable" the opal_errd daemon. This means that opal_errd,
while installed, does not actually -start- on boot.

LTC - please move this to the appropriate component (launchpad?
elsewhere?) so that the ppc64-diag package for Ubuntu 15.10 can make a
fix for this. Probably any other distro that relies on systemd should be
checked as well to make sure all expected daemons actually -start- when
ppc64_diag is installed.

[Bug 1425447] Re: pulseaudio crashed with SIGABRT in core_free() at login

2015-10-12 Thread David Henningsson
@Seb128,

The main problem here is lack of people who can reproduce the problem
and help us out (see comment #14). Lacking that, the commit you point at
is merely a guess, and probably won't solve the problem for everyone.
But it's the best guess I came up with, given the lack of
reproducability here.

So, yes, I certainly don't mind us backporting that commit to Wily (and
for 16.04, we should have PA 7.0 which already includes the patch), but
don't have too high hopes about it.

[Bug 1505105] [NEW] misleading error message on resize

2015-10-12 Thread Humphrey van Polanen Petel
Public bug reported:

 opens "resize images" box
seeing the "scale" option pre-filled with 50 I knee-jerk-click
 I get the error message "'Screenshot from 2015-10-12 18:08:49.png' cannot be
resized. Check whether you have permission to write to this folder."
I am confused, investigate and *finally* realize that I should have clicked the
 button

the bug is that the error message should have been appropriate to the
error, in this case something like "invalid selection"

2015-10-12 Thread Rudolf Leitgeb
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected

** Description changed:

  During every boot sequence, SMART commands are sent to this SSD, causing
  a minute long hang, until a kernel error message appears, telling me
  that some SMART command failed. Since SSDs are not the target audience
  for SMART checks anyway, I wanted to disable smart checks through gnome-
  disk tool.

  When I tried to disable SMART for this disk, I got the following error
message:

===
  Error sending ATA command SMART, sub-command DISABLE OPERATIONS: ATA command
failed: error=0x04 count=0x00 status=0x51 (g-io-error-quark,0)

===

  After closing the error dialog, SMART switch in the window is turned
  back on :( All I wanted was disable SMART checks during boot time for
  this disk

  The kernel message (taken from dmesg output) regarding SMART and the SSD at
boot time is as follows:

[Bug 1505093] [NEW] Sony VAIO touchpad only scrolls

2015-10-12 Thread Vasilj Milošević
Public bug reported:

It looks like the touchpad is registering the single touch even when
there is none.

So it scrolls (only vertically) when used normally. When I press and
hold it behaves as it supposed to. Making selection etc.

But what is more strange is that i very small area in top right corner
it registers the scrolling. Like half a centimeter in height and two
centimeters in width.

[Bug 1505148] [NEW] shell restarts spontaneously

2015-10-12 Thread Jean-Baptiste Lallement
Public bug reported:

current build number: 136
device name: arale
channel: ubuntu-touch/rc-proposed/meizu.en

I opened the spread, dismissed an app (dekko IIRC) the shell froze for a
couple of seconds and restarted (only the shell not the device) Then
everything resumed as if nothing happened.

It was not an out of memory situation or the watchdog. Logs attached. It
happened around 8:19 local time in syslog.

[Bug 1464249] Re: Ubuntu WebView should not silently honour fullscreen requests

2015-10-12 Thread Oliver Grawert
with this fix my App does not recieve any fullscreen events from an
embedded WebView anymore with the following code:

Connections {
target: webview
onFullscreenChanged: {
nav.visible = !webview.fullscreen
if (webview.fullscreen == true) {
window.visibility = 5
} else {
window.visibility = 4
}
}
}

when i hack /usr/lib/arm-linux-
gnueabihf/qt5/qml/Ubuntu/Components/Extras/Browser/UbuntuWebView02.qml
on the phone to revert the change all is fine and embedded videos
properly emit the onFullscreenChanged to the webview. i assume i need to
do any code changes on my side to use an embedded WebView this way now.
are these changes somewhere documented ?

[Bug 1130713] Re: Empathy doesn't open when clicking messages -> chat in system tray

2015-10-12 Thread Alex Baggott
As part of the big bug review for 16.04 LTS, I have tested this on 15.10
and the bug is still there.

I don't see "chat" in the menu, just Empathy. However, the behaviour is
the same: Clicking on Empathy opens the contact list, but not the chat
window, when Empathy is already minimised.

[Bug 1323837] Re: Sim toolkit is not available on UT

2015-10-12 Thread Simon Fels
Some code we can base our work on is in https://github.com/meego-tablet-
ux/meego-app-satk

However we need to be able to process requests from STK in the
background to push notifications or other requests. We maybe can put in
a small plugin into ofono which triggers this when the STK agent should
be triggered but is suspended or not available.

As a further note: I talked with Tony (awe) a week ago and he said from
the ofono side there should be nothing left to do for STK support.
@Tony: Can you confirm that?
