[Bug 1123108] Re: unity slow on dual monitors (extended desktop)

2015-10-15 Thread Thuc
I have the same problem with Ubuntu 14.04 LTS. After installation
Ubuntu, everything was fine. I restarted computer and things were still
ok until the moment when I logged in. The unity became extremely slow. I
unplugged a monitor, it went back to normal speed. I waited for a while
(more than 10s), and plugged again. Now is a story of luck. Sometimes it
worked, sometime not.

[Bug 1506139] Re: 15.10beta crashes encrypted swap partition

2015-10-15 Thread Martin Pitt
> This time, sda2 has survived as a valid and operating luks partition.

Then the journal won't show the bits where it destroys it (but it's
still useful for comparison). I'd like to see a journal when it does
destroy the device. One way would be to just keep rebooting until that
happens.

However, there might be a faster and also more useful way. First, stop
only the swap partition and luks device:

   sudo systemctl stop systemd-cryptsetup@sda2_crypt.service

Now /dev/mapper/ should not have sda2_crypt any more, just sda3_crypt
(for the root partition). Then you can run the commands in
/run/systemd/generator/systemd-cryptsetup@sda2_crypt.service manually
with extra debugging:

   sudo SYSTEMD_LOG_LEVEL=debug /lib/systemd/systemd-cryptsetup attach
sda2_crypt /dev/sda2 none luks,swap,discard
   (enter passphrase)
   sudo /lib/systemd/systemd-cryptsetup detach sda2_crypt
   # now check if the signature is still correct:
   sudo blkid -p /dev/sda2

You can try running this several times until it destroys your partition
(FTR, I ran it successfully some 20 times). Does that reproduce the bug
for you? If so, please copy&paste the output from the command cycle that
did the destruction. If not, then I guess it's something else in the
boot process, and then please reboot until it happens and attach the
journal output from this boot.

Thanks!

> Furthermore, I have another problem: When doing a regular boot, but
boot process hangs after systemd listed the names of several services

Please file a separate bug report about that.
/usr/share/doc/systemd/README.Debian.gz describes how to debug such
shutdown hangs. In particular, boot with enabling the debug shell, and
when it hangs switch to it and check for running services and also save
the journal. Thanks!

[Bug 1306991] Re: pip stops with ImportError for request-Modul

2015-10-15 Thread Kris Warner
I fixed this by doing same thing as #33, then removing and and re-
installing pip. The call to autoremove was key - it didn't work when I
tried without this.

sudo apt-get purge python-pip

sudo agt-get autoremove

and re-installing

sudo apt-get install python-pip

[Bug 1506723] [NEW] Initial downward scroll using touchpad is too fast

2015-10-15 Thread Christopher Kyle Horton
Public bug reported:

After opening a tab in the Browser app on the desktop which can be
scrolled, I find that the initial downward scrolling speed is much too
fast when using a two-finger slide on my laptop touchpad. This causes me
to unexpectedly skip large amounts of content. Scrolling up and
subsequent downward scrolls go at the much more reasonable expected
speed, however.

[Bug 1506721] [NEW] Rebranding Xara LX to Xoamorph

2015-10-15 Thread Earl DuCaine
Public bug reported:

Xara LX is still one of a handful of full-featured professional quality
vector editing tools for Linux. It's features set it apart from other
tools by ease of use and its strong ability to incorporate and
manipulate raster images. Sadly Xara has discontinued supporting the
tool, and because they reserve the trademarks, no third party has been
able to step in and create a support community.

To break that impasse I've created a re-branded repository Xoamorph to
carry on Linux development. Unlike some of the other previous forks of
Xara, the project's goal is not to replace CDraw (though maybe it will
one day), but rather to maintain the application fixing bugs and
integrating it with the latest version of dependant libraries,
particularly WX, which is causing problems.

As of this moment, the current snapshot in master has all the latest
patches and compiles on 15.04. Work is currently under way to replace
all user interface elements that contain trademarked images or text with
Xoamorph branded ones. But that is not necessary to include it into the
latest Ubuntu release.

The repository can be found here:

https://bitbucket.org/educaine/xoamorph

[Bug 1433032] Re: Starting Chrome makes gnome-keyring-daemon loading 100% of a CPU thread for 5 at least mins

2015-10-15 Thread Scott Stensland
My system typically runs just fine even with
~/.local/share/keyrings/login.keyring over 1.3 mb with 5000+ lines,
however CPU goes over 75% only when I setup auto login without ubuntu password
prompt on reboot.
I do get that keyring password prompt a few seconds after boot completes. Then
CPU goes through the roof.
ubuntu 14.04As a top-gap I am going back to the normal boot login password
prompt

[Bug 1506713] [NEW] Xmir: App menus don't always close

2015-10-15 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Public bug reported:

Using Xmir, app menus don't always close when you click outside of them.

They only close (in some cases) if you click on the app itself or are
forced to select a menu item.

This is an expected problem, as Mir does not yet implement pointer
grabs, which is what toolkits use to auto-close menus when you click
outside them.

[Bug 1506711] [NEW] firefox open dialog crashes due to bug in gfvs

2015-10-15 Thread Mathieu Pellerin
Public bug reported:

The gfvs package in the repository of the forthcoming ubuntu 15.10 has a
bug that causes firefox to crash when opening up the file picker dialog
(see https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1212139).

The bug has been patched (see
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=756153), and it'd be
important that ubuntu integrates that fix before the final release of
15.10.

[Bug 1493888] Re: FGLRX incompatible with kernel 4.2

2015-10-15 Thread Yusuf Ismail Bin Shukor
Just tried using Kernel 4.1.0-040100 and then attempted to install both
fglrx and fglrx-updates. Both installed, and upon reboot there is a
working desktop, but it's not the Catalyst driver that's running.

It's defaulting back to stock Mesa 11.0.2, even though Additional
Drivers states that the fglrx driver is in use.

I do not know if this would be useful, but this is my dmesg file currently:

[Bug 1506708] [NEW] Dash reset when pulling out launcher is too eager

2015-10-15 Thread Michael Terry
Public bug reported:

1) Go the app store, look at an app page, maybe start writing a review
2) Pull out the launcher

If you are even a little enthusiastic with your pull, the dash resets,
and you lose your place.

I do it by accident often, and it's annoying. I think it would be
reasonable to wait till the drag goes more than a launcher's width past
the launcher or something similar.

[Bug 1298921] Re: cloud-init should give up on 404 errors

2015-10-15 Thread Thiago Martins
Scott,

This is the first time I'm hearing about "cloudsigma", I'm pretty sure
that I'm not running there, since this is a KVM Guest running at my own
Ubuntu physical host, that I installed using Ubuntu ISO.

So, this might be another bug... Or maybe not, because it is not giving
up on 404 errors...

Do you know any way to disable this second datasource that it uses
automatically as a fall back ?

Thanks!

2015-10-15 Thread Brian Neltner
I can verify that I also am getting this error now that I am running
3.19.0-30 on Intel NUC5i7RYH with Iris 6100 graphics.

I don't know what the error means, but definitely getting it. Upon
update now my boot screen doesn't properly load and I have to decrypt
the disk with nothing on the screen, clear regression from 3.19.0-28,
but not sure if it's related.

Brian, thank you for uploading and publishing those to -proposed.

I have tested them on both Precise and Trusty and can confirm that they
work as expected: squid is killed with SIGINT, closing all outstanding
connections immediately and unlinking the PID file.

[Bug 1493888] Re: FGLRX incompatible with kernel 4.2

2015-10-15 Thread Yusuf Ismail Bin Shukor
Confirmed not working on Ubuntu 15.10 64bit with my AMD R9 390 on kernel
4.2.0-16.

Both fglrx and fglrx-updates will return a black screen of death upon
reboot after installation. The only way to revive the system is to do a
fresh install.

This will cause many people to break their systems when they choose to
upgrade their systems to 15.10 with an AMD card and attempt to install
Catalyst.

I'm going to try the Kernel 4.1 workaround now, see if it works or not.

[Bug 1506704] [NEW] Thin font, nautilus doesn't integrate with Unity.

2015-10-15 Thread Wiktor: Nizio
Public bug reported:

It happens frequently (around 1/2 of the time) that when I boot the
computer, font lines are only one pixel thick. This concerns watch in
the sys-tray, all item in the menu of all applications, as well as all
fonts in Nautilus. When this happens. Nautilus doesn't display menu in
the Unity menu bar, but displays an additional button showing three
horizontal lines for bringing up the menu.

This problem has been with me for years, although sometimes disappears
for months at a time when I run sudo apt-get update. This time it re-
emerged after upgrading to 15.10 beta (Wily). It happens usually on
power-up, and disappears after system restart. (To appear again on the
next power-up).

[Bug 1506696] [NEW] Bullets and numbering ignores paragraph formatting

2015-10-15 Thread octalman
Public bug reported:

After years of fighting OO Writer's bullets and numbering, I have
finally discovered at least part of the problem. It appears to consist
of two parts.

1. There is no "No, I don't want bullets and numbering" for a selected
paragraph. Both the formatting drop-down/paragraph and the bullent-and-
numbering drop-down should both have this option, explicitly.

More specifically,

2. Bullets and numbering is ultra aggressive. Under some conditions,
even when bullets and numbering is turned off for a paragraph, O-O tries
to implement numbering anyway. Worse, when this happens, not only the
current paragraph is infected, but one or more subsequent paragraphs
will also be affected, and the problem cannot be fixed.

Bullets and numbering energizes itself, even if the paragraph does not
have bullets and numbering enabled, when one or more of the following
occur:

.. A paragraph begins with a capital letter immediately followed by a
period
.. A paragraph begins with certain capital letters (C, but apparently
others as well)
.. The first character of the paragraph is a numeral followed by a period

This issue with respect to the second item above can be overcome by
enclosing the offending letter and some following text in double quotes
(U S style, "). I don't know whether this works for numerals, however,
or if only the first letter is so enclosed.

Under these circumstances, it is impossible to disable bullets and
numbering.

When this aggressive behaviour occurs, it also causes indentation
specifications to be ignored and attempts to correct formatting causes
indentation specifications to be altered or eliminated.

By bullets and numbering enabling, I mean that "include this paragraph"
and/or "start numbering" is checked.

I am using Open Office 4.2 in the current release of Ubuntu 14.04,
presumably up to date, on an Pavilion laptop with AMD A8 processor.

[Bug 417432]

2015-10-15 Thread Leonardodg
Hi, guys first of all, I am not a C programmer, so I changed the source
a little bit, to telepathy-haze won't use /tmp/haze-/ directory to
handle the certificates anymore, so instead off use the home directory
~/.haze/

Download the source code 0.8.0
Apply de patch on main.c

The procedure is copy once all certificates to
~/.haze/certificates/x509/tls_peers/

and start the telepathy...

I hope this help..

PS: Sorry about my english...
