[Bug 1129849] Re: Valadoc man pag has wrong reference to “--enable-checking”
I saw the corresponding Debian issue had been fixed, and the same version had been synced to the current development version. I've tested with valadoc 0.23.2~git20150422-3 on Ubuntu Xenial and neither "--enable-checking" nor "--enable-deprecated" is present in the manpage. [Bug 1336451] Re: Cannot boot/run ubuntu without "acpi=off" or "nolapic" or "idle=poll". Freezes otherwise.
Another update. The idle=poll option was more of a power hog than I realized. I actually ended up going back to nolapic a few days after I used it. After the electricity ran out much, MUCH faster than it should have. The most recent thing I looked into is the max cstate options. processor.max_cstate didn't seem to work. Though intel_idle.max_cstate does work. I am able to use up to intel_idle.max_cstate=2. This is what I now have as my default boot option. Power usage seems to be acceptable and I am able to see all my cores. When I try intel_idle.max_cstate=3 it fails in the same way as when there are no boot options. So cstate 3 seems to be where the issue lies, as far as I can tell. I do not know how to debug this problem though. Install instructions are available at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds . This will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. If the latest kernel did not allow you to test to the issue (ex. you couldn't boot into the OS) please make a comment in your report about this, and continue to test the next most recent kernel version until you can test to the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this issue is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon, next to the word Tags, located at the bottom of the report description: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-X.Y-rcZ Where X, and Y are the first two numbers of the kernel version, and Z is the release candidate number if it exists. If the mainline kernel does not fix the issue, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-X.Y-rcZ Please note, an error to install the kernel does not fit the criteria of kernel-bug-exists-upstream. [Bug 1517161] Re: virtualbox SRU for CVE
Hi Tyler, well, I would like if possible to trash the ubuntu changelog, and start from the exact debian security changelog + the ubuntu change. e.g. for vivid I started from the trusty changelog, but vivid has an ubuntu1 and ubuntu2 delta (that is already part of Debian changelogs) I would appreciate if the above fixes can start from the debian virtualbox.git (jessie and wheezy branches) http://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/pkg-virtualbox/virtualbox.git but they are nitpicks, I'm not sure about how ubuntu likes rewriting changelogs of previous releases :) (I'm an ubuntu vivid user x64 at this moment, I didn't upgrade to wily yet). So I did: download the last trusty from ubuntu.com install trusty x64 on a virtual machine install virtualbox (the current one) inside --fail because of the too new kernel (the dkms doesn't run successfully anymore) installed virtualbox from my ppa installed a trusty 32 bit inside my trusty VM, upgraded everything, rebooted them both everything was still running (I also installed the guest-* modules IIRC) for precise I did mostly the same install precise in a VM install the current virtualbox install trusty 32 bit inside the virtualbox poweroff the trusty VM inside the VM upgraded virtualbox to the ppa version rebooted the trusty VM checked that everything was still running fine after the upgrade. The problem about upgrades is that sometimes machines doesn't start anymore, but it should happen only between major releases, not minor. For me it is safe to update, but well, it is an huge piece of software, it might break on obscure operating systems, architectures, CPU, kernels and so on... So far the Debian work has been a complete success, so I think the Ubuntu same work will be too. (and I have to say, upstream is really good at testing minor releases and keep the work done correctly, with no regressions) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1517161 Title: virtualbox SRU for CVE To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/virtualbox/+bug/1517161/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thanks for providing the requested information, that looks right. >a just upgraded Ubuntu 15.10 Hm... my 15.10 vm is a clean install, so maybe this issue is affected by some packages from older releases? Ok, here's a couple of questions: 1. Usually when packages have unmet dependencies, some other installed packages are conflicting and prevent the an underlying package from being installed. Could you try to drill down from one of the packages which isn't going to be installed and see whether something is uninstallable because it conflicts with another package? 2. Do you have packages installed from any PPAs which might affect these packages? 3. Out of curiosity, could you test switching to a different package mirror and see whether you can install then? As per http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and- netbooks/thinkpad-t-series-laptops/thinkpad-t540p an update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (2.21). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything? If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command: sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette . Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't have to create a new bug report. Once the BIOS is updated, if the problem is still reproducible, and the information above is provided, then please mark this report Status New. Otherwise, please mark this as Invalid. Thank you for your understanding. ** Tags added: bios-outdated-2.21 ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Low ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1516822 Title: Xorg crashes with segmentation fault To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1516822/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1282542] Re: (synaptic:3405): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_child_watch_add_full: assertion 'pid > 0' failed
UPDATE: seems like "(synaptic:20090): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_child_watch_add_full: assertion 'pid > 0' failed" was not an issue on its own... I tried to delete the folder "/usr/share/mime/application/x-dar.xml" and replacing it with a copy of the file "/usr/share/mime/application/x-dar.xml.new" manually and now mint updates are back to work. Sorry for not trying this before posting here... :) PS: since the folder was not opening at all, I believe it was a corrupted file being seen by the system as a folder... fortunately no other damage is noticeable and deleting the folder didn't cause any other issues PS2: had to use a liveboot Linux Mint pendrive to replace the folder with the file because NEMO (linux mint file explorer) *even when ran with administrative privileges (gksu)* said parent folder "/usr/share/mime/application/" was read only when I tried to copy the file, even though it had just let me delete the folder (go figure!?) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1282542 Title: (synaptic:3405): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_child_watch_add_full: assertion 'pid > 0' failed To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/vte/+bug/1282542/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1136110] Re: USB Audio Codec choppy playback
I thoroughly tested the patches when the bug happened to me before. The same kind of stuttering never happened again after the fix was released. I suppose the newer reports are not related to this bug. Please understand not all choppy audio has the same source. You may troubleshoot over these things: 1) Turn off Wireless and Bluetooth. CSR Bluetooth adapters are more stable. Broadcom to my experience is very bad at this. Realtek wifi chips are kinda bad, too. 2) Do not use USB hub, or make sure it is sufficiently powered (>500mA per port, >2A DC adapter). 3) Make sure the playback samplerate is native of the device. Pulseaudio's SRC could introduce stuttering. If your DAC is 48K by default and you output 44.1K to Pulseaudio, it can chop things up. 4) Do not use aggressive power save options in your BIOS. 5) Try plug the DAC on USB2.0 only ports, not USB3.0 ports. Many USB3.0 ports are running on 3rd party chips. [Bug 1518568] [NEW] Embedded subtitles are not detected
Public bug reported: The version of handbrake in the Ubuntu archives does not detect embedded subtitles. As a consequence, the options in the "Subtitle list" tab are always empty. Even, when clicking "Add" the option radio button for embedded subtitles is grey out and only the option to add srt files is available. I tried with sevaral video files with different video encondings. This does *not* happen with the handbrake supplied by the handbrake ppa (https://launchpad.net/~stebbins/+archive/ubuntu/handbrake-releases). [Bug 1380480] Re: network disabled after suspend - resume
This bug occurs to me as well on a clean install of Ubuntu 15.10 (64 bits). I have it installed on a Dell xps lalptop (I can give more details if needed). Anyway... I've notice a very important detail. This behaviour only happens to me when I close the laptop and it is suspended automatically. That does NOT happen if I suspend it manually.
