[Bug 1519082] Re: Left mouse bottom stops working

2015-11-24 Thread path
Chris,

I tried using a different kernel and an older installation. The left
mouse button error occurred again in each case. I connected this
keyboard and mouse to a windows 10 system and the left mouse button
stopped working at times yet again. Simply, this isn't a software bug at
all. Let alone an xorg bug.

I removed the plastic cover from the mouse. Then started testing
directly with screw driver on the mouse button electronic. I kept
clicking for a while and the error never appeared?

I guess I needed to clean my mouse. I haven't experienced the left mouse
button error since. It works fine right now.

[Bug 1516531] Re: Fullscreen Freeze.

2015-11-24 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Vindicator, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better.
However, your crash report is missing.

Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your
crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. First, execute at a
terminal:
cd /var/crash && sudo rm * ; sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get -y
dist-upgrade && sudo service apport start force_start=1

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in
/etc/default/apport and restart. Now reproduce the crash, then open a terminal,
navigate to your /var/crash directory and file your report with:
sudo ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash

where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. By
default, this sends the crash to the Ubuntu Error Tracker
infrastructure, which is different than Launchpad. For more on this,
please see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ErrorTracker .

However, if after doing this you would still like to have a crash report posted
to Launchpad, for example to ease triage and add others to your report, one
would need to open the following file via a terminal:
sudo nano /etc/apport/crashdb.conf

and comment out the line:
'problem_types': ['Bug', 'Package'],

by changing it to:
# 'problem_types': ['Bug', 'Package'],

Save, close, and file the crash report via:
sudo ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash

If you do open this report, please feel free to subscribe me to it.

However, I'm closing this report since the process outlined above will
deal with this issue more efficiently. Also, please do not attach your
crash report manually to this report and reopen it. Thank you for your
understanding.

Andrejs Grigorjevs, please execute the following command only once, as it will
automatically gather debugging information, in a terminal:
apport-collect 1517547

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu-
bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this
functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

[Bug 1519413] Re: scribus doesn't manage french letters é è à

2015-11-24 Thread Len Ovens
Please read the reply above, scribus-ng does not exist any more it is
just a pointer to scribus. Running scribus from the command line should
do the same thing. Scribus-ng was just a way to run scribus 1.4 instead
of 1.3, now scribus is all 1.4 (1.4.5 as happens). Again scribus-ng is
an empty package that requires scribus be installed. This bug really
should be with scribus.

[Bug 1512429] Re: Clementine crashes when playing aac (.m4a) files

2015-11-24 Thread Simon
Same Problem with Exaile depending on gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad in Wily
Werewolf..
When trying to play .m4a-Files (AAC), Exaile crashes showing "stack smashing
detected".
In Thrusty Tahr everything worked just fine, probably the now missing
gstreamer-ffmpeg, could have been an alternative to gstreamer-plugins-bad, but
is gone in Wily Werewolf.. :-/
This is annoying, when you upgrade your distro and your favourite player isn't
working anymore with most of your music.. :-/

[Bug 1518725] Re: Battery indicator wrong

2015-11-24 Thread David Baumann
I am sorry, I think this can be closed.
The mouse switched to 1/3 leds right after my post, aber showing 20% and 2/3
for around one day of heavy usage.

Now it's showing 5%, and the last led switched to red. So I think, the
leds are some kind of "optimistic".

-> Close, please.

Fine, Chris.

Since it's only a workaround to degrade Java OpenJDK-7 in Kubuntu 14.04
to V.6 would sugest to leave it open until the fix is released/commited
& published. This may well take some more time, for whatever reason in
question. I'll associate this than to the package in question, as
duplicate..

best wishes

[Bug 1518259] Re: Wireless is disabled by rfkill after suspend with linux-image-generic-lts-wily

2015-11-24 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Andrei Borzenkov, as per http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04
/product-support/product/latitude-e5450-laptop/drivers an update to your
computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (A10). If you update to
this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it
address the issue?

If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the
output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette
.

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful.

Also, you don't have to create a new bug report.

Once the BIOS is updated, if the problem is still reproducible, and the

This is because "-3" is parsed as an option to the command. You can use
"--" to signify the end of the options and pass "-3" properly like so:

gconftool-2 -t int -s /app/myvalue -- -3

[Bug 1496927] Re: [Hyper-V] udev trying to modify owner and mode of /dev/vmbus/hv_vss

2015-11-24 Thread Joseph Salisbury
Yes, this is defiantly a regression. I booted the wily guest with the
mainline kernel(v4.2-rc2) and the bug still exists. I then booted with
the Vivid kernels(3.19 based) and the bug went away. I'll bisect this
down and should have an update shortly.

[Bug 1519413] Re: scribus doesn't manage french letters é è à

2015-11-24 Thread Mattia Rizzolo
I can type àèìòù, etc just fine. I do use it for Italian stuff where I
clearly need accents.

Can you try the ppa:scribus/ppa ? beware files saved with that scribus-
ng can't be opened by scribus anymore. there scribus-ng is 1.5.0.

I'm confident this is not really a scribus problem. Does this issue
occur with other programs in the same system?

Using JDK 6 run any Swing app with a menu bar in Ubuntu 12.04 using the default
Ambiance theme. The menu bar will be visible, but the text ("File") will be in
dark grey on black, nearly unreadable. The menu text is only readable when the
menu is selected.

Fix:
S7169111 [1] was applied to OpenJDK 7 and integrated into IcedTea 2.4.0, but no
backport was made to OpenJDK 6 and that still affects Ubuntu users running
OpenJDK 6.

I would like ask for a backport review in order to incorporate this
patch into OpenJDK 6/IcedTea 1.x. Apart from a small fuzz the original
patch [2] applies OK - the one attached has been refreshed and should
apply cleanly.

[Bug 1516451] Re: check_disk plugin broken after upgrade to 15.10

2015-11-24 Thread Ben Coleman
Also note that while 15.10 does change the permissions on
/sys/kernel/debug/tracing (from drwxr-xr-x in 15.04 to drwx-- in
15.10), the permissions on /sys/kernel/debug are drwx-- on both
15.10 and 15.04 - which means that /sys/kernel/debug shouldn't be
readable from a non-root account on either release, so this looks like a
code change in check_disk.

[Bug 1519545] [NEW] gpsbabel has usb problems with 15.10

2015-11-24 Thread Hadmut Danisch
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I'm using gpsbabel to access my several Garmin eTrex Devices through usb
to up- and download tracks, waypoints, etc. for almost ten years, but
since I've upgraded to ubuntu 15.10, it does not work anymore. It hangs
and says

Could not start session in a reasonable number of tries.

stracing gpsbabel shows that it goes into an endless loop.

[Bug 1517161] Re: virtualbox SRU for CVE

2015-11-24 Thread Tyler Hicks
Hi - I got a little uneasy about all of the changes to the packaging and
decided to do some quick install testing of my own (install, not
upgrade). It looks like the updates break `apt-get install virtualbox`
in 14.04 and 12.04. I tested the packages in the security-proposed ppa:

  https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-security-proposed/+archive/ubuntu/ppa/

Can you please attach debdiffs, based on the packages in that ppa, to
fix the install issues in 14.04 and 12.04? Thanks!

[Bug 1508081] Re: Fails to receive OTA updates

2015-11-24 Thread Barry Warsaw
If the log file (or system-image-cli -vv) ends with "Running group
download reactor" it basically means that s-i has told udm to download a
bunch of files, and it's waiting for the D-Bus signals indicating
successful completion or failure. Since we're not seeing either of
those, s-i will just sit and wait, although it will eventually time out.

There could be several reasons why udm is not responding, including
networking problems anywhere along the path, or bugs. I don't know
whether udm is being actively maintained.

As an experiment, you could try `SYSTEMIMAGE_PYCURL=1 system-image-cli
-vv` and see if you get different behavior. This bypasses udm and uses
s-i's built-in cURL-based downloader. It's not recommended currently
for production phone environments because it doesn't have the same
networking behavior as udm, but this is essentially what's used in
snappy. (Assuming of course that you're running s-i 3.0 or newer).

If the cURL approach works, then it points to a problem in udm. If it
doesn't work, you should at least get more diagnostics to help narrow it
down to a problem in the networking, client, or server.
