[Bug 1519917] Re: [Hyper-V] Rebase Hyper-V to 4.3 kernel

2015-12-10 Thread Joshua R. Poulson
Functional test run complete and we got expected storage I/O
performance.

The known issues are still present: IP injection does not work (bug
1506521), Copy-VMFile timeout at ~2GB.

However, it appears that kdump is broken again (this had been resolved
in the Oct 10 Wily build). I suspect that since kdump is also broken in
linux-next testing (see bug 1515301) this is not because of your kernel
in particular.

[Bug 1524930] [NEW] "ACPI PCC probe failed" message is an error message when it should be debug

2015-12-10 Thread Colin Ian King
Public bug reported:

[SRU Justification][Vivid]

Users of Ubuntu Vivid are seeing a seemingly alarming kernel failure
message "ACPI PCC probe failed" when in fact it is just a debug message
informing the kernel developers that a probe for an ACPI PCC mailbox was
not successful (which is just a debug only message) and not a failure
one needs to worry about. This message is asked about frequently on
askubuntu.com, so it is alarming quite a few users, c.f. :
http://askubuntu.com/questions/708215/1-037533-acpi-pcc-probe-failed.

This fix landed in Wily, and the driver with the alarming message only
affects Vivid.

[Fix]
Upstream commit efd756daf4ddae3cec2404c4e0b680b7cfdd6a45 ("ACPI / PCC: Use
pr_debug() for debug messages in pcc_init()")

[Testcase]

Boot a machine without the PCC feature, without the fix one sees the
error message in the kernel log. With the fix, this error is now a
warning. Note: This only affects Vivid.

[Bug 1483343] Re: NMI watchdog: BUG: soft lockup errors when we execute lock_torture_wr tests

2015-12-10 Thread Joseph Salisbury
I built a V2 test kernel with a cherry-pick of commit
f548d99ef4f5ec8f7080e88ad07c44d16d058ddc.

The test kernel can be downloaded from:
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~jsalisbury/lp1483343/

Can you test this kernel and see if it resolves this bug?

Also, this particular tool is reading the PCI config spaces to sanity
check the PCIe ASPM modes. Can I get a copy of these config spaces so I
can debug the one that causing fwts to break: Please can you do the
following:

sudo tar cvf - /sys/bus/pci/devices/*/config > fwts-pci-config.tar

[Bug 1524939] [NEW] Using telephony with bluetooth not possible after second connection

2015-12-10 Thread Alexandre Payet
Public bug reported:

I've a problem using telephony with bluetooth in my car

I explain :
I can connect in bluetooth with my car
At the first connection everything works fine (I can do a call, play music
normally in car speakers)
At the second automatic connection (ie. I leave the car and go away, lost the
bluetooth connection, and come back in the car --> the phone reconnect
automatically to the car bluetooth)

At this second connection, I loose the possibility to do a call with
audio in car speakers. Telephony app detect the bluetooth well
(bluetooth icon in app), but this doesn’t cut the sound already playing
in car speaker and phone call is not redirected to car speakers. When I
hangout the sound playing in car speaker is cut (for 2sec) but if do an
other call this still not working.

So to solve the problem, I have to manually disconnect from car bluetooth and
reconnect again (in settings). If I just turn off bluetooth then turn it back
on, the problem is not solved.

Does someone have the same issue or am I not clear ?
I could try to add a syslog if it could help.

Device : mako rc-proposed; Bluetooth car module : XCARLink Smart BT in
207 Peugeot

Three attempts at installing Wily alongside Trusty 14.04.1.

  Steps:
dd /dev/zero bs=16M count=128 to ensure all previous partitions and data are
gone.

Boot from Trusty 14.04.1 USB drive, select erase and install. Install
without errors (none I'm alerted to or aware of, anyway)

Shut down - not that no updates or upgrades were performed...

Reboot from latest Wily 15.10 USB. Select "install alongside 14.04.1"

Installer fails when grub installer is running for the 2nd time (?). I
watched it run and create the 4.2 linux kernels and initrds. Upon
inspection, they appear properly installed in /boot.

I'll boot manually into both Trusty and Wily and attempt to reinstall
Grub so they can share it and I can choose.

[Bug 1524946] [NEW] virtualbox stop service has no effect

2015-12-10 Thread ubu...@schillerstrasse42.de
Public bug reported:

I use Ubuntu 15.10 and installed the Virtual Box "virtualbox
5.0.10-dfsg-2ubuntu1" package from the standard repository.
The application itself works well. However I want to use the virtualbox init.d
script to save the virtual machine.
Therefore I changed the /etc/default/virtualbox file as follows:

# SHUTDOWN_USERS="foo bar"
# check for running VMs of user 'foo' and user 'bar'
# 'all' checks for all active users
# SHUTDOWN=poweroff
# SHUTDOWN=acpibutton
# SHUTDOWN=savestate
# select one of these shutdown methods for running VMs
# acpibutton and savestate causes the init script to wait
# 30 seconds for the VMs to shutdown
SHUTDOWN_USERS="all"
SHUTDOWN=savestate

I can call the stop function of the virtualbox init.d script manually and it
saves the running virtual machine successfully. The script waits 30 seconds to
allow the VMs to shutdown (as stated in the config file).
However, if I shutdown the system, it is turned of immediately and the VM is
killed. It seems that the systemd shutdown does not wait for the virtualbox
script.
Is there anything I can do about this?

@Darren, can you open a bug against the kernel? That will provide a
way to track this issue and review your hardware and configuration.

I can investigate this issue using that bug report. You can open a bug
by running the following from a terminal:

ubuntu-bug linux

[Bug 1524488] Re: Manually setting the time into the past makes scopes sluggish, unnavigable

2015-12-10 Thread Allan LeSage
Ok I do think this is a real issue, happy to post a video--I've been
testing a release on this arale and was confused when seeing this
behavior again after a fresh flash.

I previously set the time manually on this phone--I assume this persists
in some way in hardware, because the time is incorrect on boot even
after flashing. So, the phone wakes displaying an incorrect time; if
I'm able to get through lock quickly, I see the indicator changing to
NTP. When the indicator changes to the correct time *the sluggish
behavior turns on* .

Still trying to lock down the conditions to reproduce this bug wanted to
report.

2015-12-10 Thread Pat McGowan
then definitely not the same bug, you may want to submit a new bug
against the kernel although its not clear to me its not hardware related

I see other similar reports where people have resolved by unplugging
devices and shutting down the PC, modprobe the usb driver, etc but no
idea

[Bug 1524959] [NEW] Lubuntu 14.04.03 installer crashes

2015-12-10 Thread caspar luc
Public bug reported:

I am trying to install lubuntu 14.04 alongside lubuntu 15.04 and 15.10 (don't
ask why).
The grub2 that comes packaged with lubuntu 15.10 has been installed to the MBR

new install will miserably fail and crash.

So you can see when it kicks in. I have made the following modifications and
still have the problem:

/etc/rc.local:

echo never > /sys/kernel/mm/transparent_hugepage/defrag
echo 0 > /sys/kernel/mm/transparent_hugepage/khugepaged/defrag

# Another fix for khugepaged issues (20151210)
echo madvise > /sys/kernel/mm/transparent_hugepage/enabled

[Bug 1524943] [NEW] Missing trust-store integration for IAP

2015-12-10 Thread Rodney Dawes
Public bug reported:

As part of the security team's requirement for shipping support for in-
app purchases, we need to have trust-store integration for pay-service,
so that users must be able to deny apps from being able to request
making a purchase. We'll need the necessary changes in pay-service, as
well as UI in system-settings to be able to manage the trust denials.
