[Bug 1529458] [NEW] ubuntu 14.04: Epson Stylus Photo 2100 "missing print filter"

Since I upgraded from 12.04 to 14.04 this printer has not worked well.
Sometimes it prints after repeatedly pressing the paper feed button. I often
get the error message: "missing print filter". I have had the printer for
approx. 10 years, and it worked well before 14.04.

I have tested on a windows 7 laptop and on a mac. Both work well.

Conclusion: printer is working. Someting has happened to cups or the
cups driver for this printer.

I have tried the Open Printing user forum and only gotten a report from
someone with the same problem

I attach the error log (/var/log/cups/error_log)

[Bug 1512608] Re: No thumbnails generated for OGG audio

2015-12-27 Thread Michi Henning
The Bad Request response issue is definitely fixed by the linked branch.
I'm seeing much more robust behavior now.

We still have an issue with the error back-off being too aggressive when
an individual request to the server times out. I'll work on that and try
to get this into OTA-9. We have a separate bug for that problem:

[Bug 1529452] Re: Gallery app asks for same image multiple times at different sizes

2015-12-27 Thread Michi Henning
This is really serious. I'm seeing around a dozen requests for each
image (each request at a different size) when scrolling in the event
view. I'm also seeing crashes. One way to reproduce seems to be to
scroll all the way to the end of the event view and then scroll in the
other direction. As soon as I try to go backwards from the end, I get a
crash.

Looks like 'python-nautilus' could be blamed for that issue (1.1-4):
latest update oct 2013, still depends on python2.7 (libpython2.7)

2015-12-27 Thread Jarno Suni
To make sure current kernel is not autoremoved, /etc/kernel/postinst.d
/apt-auto-removal should be run during startup, that is before running
"apt-get autoremove" during uptime.

[Bug 1529462] [NEW] Access to source folder in Recently used

2015-12-27 Thread Robert Orzanna
Public bug reported:

Dear all,

This bug report is in direct reference to the conversation at
bugzilla.gnome.org [1].

There I was told that the GTK File Chooser dialog has a function under
"Recently Used" to directly access the source folder.

However, in Ubuntu 15.10 I cannot find this option.

Is this function not available yet because Ubuntu 15.10 uses a different
version of GTK?

Is this function thus something that will be available in future Ubuntu
releases?

Thankfully,

~ Robert

2015-12-27 Thread Carl Englund
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected

** Description changed:

  To reproduce (on this hardware)

  1) Install 14.04.3 LTS (Ubuntu or XUbuntu)
  2) Install updates
  3) Reboot

  The kernel used after update is 3.19.0-42. Booting with the kernel that
  came with the install image (3.19.0-25) works fine.

  This computer is a HP Compaq 6715s. I have looked at HPs support pages
  for BIOS updates for this model but none was available.

[Bug 1459613] Re: connecting 2x 4k screens on a Dell XPS12 (9Q33): compiz crashed with SIGSEGV in GLTexture::matrix() from GLScreen::glPaintCompositedOutput

2015-12-27 Thread D
Seems my respons was lost: i gave a reply to the emailalert, but it
didn't make it to launchpad i see.

So here it is once more;
---
So, nice to have finally explained this issue, as far im concerned you can set
this bug to resolved. It gets handled nicely on a new install of 15.10 and
correct message and not crashing.

Things i did;
- copy to texture is on
- i didn't run arandr, too complex for me (i am just a newbee on linux).
- i placed the 3rd screen at the bottom and even while the screen was activated
and i had 3 screens, the whole screen froze (even though music kept playing).

[Bug 1501580] Re: Workaround for dw_dmac causing random hang when booting

2015-12-27 Thread Libor Chmelik
This bug also appears on Acer Aspire E15 Laptops (E5-511-P7AT) and
(E5-511-P01P) on 14.04.3 Trusty with kernel 3.19.0-28.

If dw_dmac and dw_dmac_core are not blacklisted, everytime on Shut Down
or Reboot comes a black screen and the fan starts spinning like crazy
every +-20 seconds, but the machine doesn't shut down or reboot.

I hope this issue will be fixed for the next LTS 16.04 ?

[Bug 1433351] Re: Opening an ISO with a parameter doesn't work

2015-12-27 Thread MatthewAllen
** Description changed:

  Opening a DVD ISO file works when you open it from the File->Open menu, but
not if you give it as a parameter for Parole, eg.
- parole filename.iso
+ parole filename.iso

- Parole 0.7.0 with Xubuntu 14.10.
+ Effects Pasi Lallinaho on Parole 0.7.0 with Xubuntu 14.10.
+ Effects MatthewAllen on Parole 0.8.1 with Ubuntu 15.10.
+
+ Steps to reproduce:
+  1) Open Terminal
+  2) $ parole test.iso
+
+ Expected Result: The ISO opens and begins playing.
+ Actual Result: Parole opens but does nothing.

[Bug 1515091] Re: Thumbnail of photo/video displays incorrect size in preview page

2015-12-27 Thread Michi Henning
Here is what I see in the thumbnailer log when I tap on a single image
in the photo roll:

Note that, even though I asked to see one image, the app issues requests
for two images. As far as I can see, it should ask only for the image I
want to see?

For each image, there are two requests, one for 768, and one for 2304.
There should be only one request.

Asking for the image at 2304 is meaningless, in the sense that the
thumbnailer won't deliver anything larger than 1920. It doesn't do any
harm as such, the actual image that is returned will be scaled to 1920.
But the image that is shown is too large and displaces the "Open button"
near the bottom, so I can see the button only once is scroll. The
preview image should be displayed at a size that doesn't push the rest
of the card off the screen.

[Bug 1280300] Re: Desktop contents displayed on resume, before lock screen is shown

2015-12-27 Thread James Baicoianu
Still seeing this bug in Ubuntu 15.10 64-bit with Unity 3D, and have
seen it in every Ubuntu version going back to at least 2011, across
several different laptops from different manufacturers (Chromebook,
Thinkpad, and Dell something-or-other). It happens reliably every time
I resume from suspend - doesn't matter if I suspended through the menu
or by closing the lid.

How is this not considered a major security bug? If someone steals my
laptop they can see anything I was doing before suspending. Information
leakage like this should be treated as high priority.

[Bug 1529452] [NEW] Gallery app asks for same image multiple times at different sizes

2015-12-27 Thread Michi Henning
Public bug reported:

I'm seeing this with image 342 from rc-proposed.

When starting the gallery app with around 300 photos in my Pictures
folder, I just noticed the request sequence shown below. Note that all
requests are for the same image and are issued pretty much all at once.
(There is about half a second elapsed time between the first and the
last request.) The requests keep changing the size only, starting at 342
and working their way down to 216. This is supremely inefficient because
each of the requests results in a separate scaling operation. In
addition, each of these requests ends up in the cache on disk, so this
behavior really hammers the battery and reduces cache efficiency.

[Bug 1529454] [NEW] dm-tool add-nested-seat fails

2015-12-27 Thread Petter Adsen
Public bug reported:

On Wily, updated daily:

petter@odin:~$ ac policy lightdm
lightdm:
  Installed: 1.16.6-0ubuntu1
  Candidate: 1.16.6-0ubuntu1

petter@odin:~$ dm-tool add-nested-seat
Unable to add seat: GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.Failed: Failed to
start seat

I was hoping to get a nested X server with lightdm, but the Xephyr
windows briefly opens and then closes again. I have tried this on two
different installations of Wily with the same results. If I try to start
Xephyr manually and then start lightdm on it with 'dm-tool add-
local-x-seat' then dm-tool fails with exactly the same error message as
above.

[Bug 1462981] Re: pinentry-gtk-2 crashed with SIGABRT in g_assertion_message()

2015-12-27 Thread Jose Cicero
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1455312 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1455312

I faced the same problem with Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (trusty) and I did not
found bug #1455312. Then I checked in packages.ubuntu.com that Trusty is
using package pinentry-gtk2 (0.8.3-1ubuntu1) and Vivid is using
pinentry-gtk2 (0.8.3-2ubuntu1) and both packages depend on same
libraries.

So I downloaded the pinentry-gtk2_0.8.3-2ubuntu1_amd64.deb file from
Vivid and I installed using:

$ sudo dpkg -i pinentry-gtk2_0.8.3-2ubuntu1_amd64.deb

[Bug 1529266] Re: [HP Spectre x360 - 13-4005dx] suspend/resume failure

2015-12-27 Thread Stephen
Here are the results of the reverse bisect:

 $ git bisect start
 $ git bisect bad v4.4-rc6
 $ git bisect good v4.2.6
Bisecting: a merge base must be tested
[64291f7db5bd8150a74ad2036f1037e6a0428df2] Linux 4.2
 $ cp /boot/config-4.2.0-22-generic .config
 $ make oldconfig
 $ make clean
 $ time make -j5 deb-pkg LOCALVERSION=-custom-1
 $ cd ..
 $ ls
 $ sudo dpkg -i linux-image-4.2.0-custom-1_4.2.0-custom-1-2_amd64.deb
linux-headers-4.2.0-custom-1_4.2.0-custom-1-2_amd64.deb
 $ sudo reboot
 $ git bisect bad
The merge base 64291f7db5bd8150a74ad2036f1037e6a0428df2 is bad.
This means the bug has been fixed between
64291f7db5bd8150a74ad2036f1037e6a0428df2 and
[1c02865136fee1d10d434dc9e3616c8e39905e9b].

Looks like I need to do a forward bisect from 4.2 to 4.2.6 to determine
when the bug was introduced?

[Bug 1529232] Re: Scanner not detected over wifi since after 3.13.0-68

2015-12-27 Thread Lucas Partridge
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected

** Description changed:

  Please see http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2306464 for details.
  I'm running 64-bit 14.04 LTS ubuntu.

  When I boot my PC into 3.13.0-68-generic (via the 'ubuntu advanced' menu
  item in grub) I can detect my scanner over wifi using scangearmp.
  However since 3.13.0-70-generic I have not been able to detect my
  scanner over wifi. My current kernel is 3.13.0-74-generic. Therefore I
  suspect a regression has occurred between 3.13.0-68-generic and
  3.13.0-70-generic:

  Scanner *is* detected by scangearmp over wifi and it scans documents as
expected in this version:
  uname -a
  Linux zorro 3.13.0-68-generic #111-Ubuntu SMP Fri Nov 6 18:17:06 UTC 2015
x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

  But scanner is *not* detected by scangearmp in this version or later:
  Linux zorro 3.13.0-70-generic #113-Ubuntu SMP Mon Nov 16 18:34:13 UTC 2015
x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

  Note that this happened before some time ago. i.e., The scanner was
  detected over wifi, then not, then it was again some time later. Then
  this latest break occurred again. I suspect successive updates are
  fixing or breaking the detection accordingly.

  $ dpkg -l | grep scangear
  ii  scangearmp-common 2.20-1
amd64ScanGear MP for Linux.
  ii  scangearmp-mg7100series   2.20-1
amd64ScanGear MP for Linux.

  Device is Canon Pixma MG7150 (combined printer, scanner, copier). Note
  the printer works fine over wifi; only the scanner is affected.

- I can see from the changelog at
-
http://changelogs.ubuntu.com/changelogs/pool/main/l/linux/linux_3.13.0-74.118/changelog
- that many changes went into 3.13.0-69.112 but it's not obvious to me
- which of these might have caused the regression.

[Bug 1529497] [NEW] Frequent iwlwifi crashes

2015-12-27 Thread Skippy le Grand Gourou
Public bug reported:

I experience very frequent wireless network deconnections on my laptop.
A typical case is when I close the screen : when I open it again, the
network is systematically gone. Sometimes it's just that the wifi
options won't show up in NetworkManager dropdown menu, but on other
occasions the menu says that the wifi has been turned off with a
hardware switch (there is no such switch on the laptop).

Syslog shows crashes related to iwlwifi (search for "Trace" in the
attached file).

Sorry for the poor report, but I don't have much time to narrow down the
issue. Of course I can add whichever information is needed.

[Bug 1529504] [NEW] Alien postinst/prerm scripts expecting integer argument

2015-12-27 Thread Terry Cain
Public bug reported:

Using Ubuntu 15.04, alien package version 8.93

I was converting an RPM to a deb and supplied --scripts so that it generates
the prerm/postinst etc... scripts when installing.
It created the .deb successfully but the postrm and preinst scripts produced an
error during install.

In postrm there is an if statement on line 9 which uses "-eq" to check
if 0 and then removes some installed files. From what I've read the
support scripts are called with strings for the first argument, Changed
it to "if [ "$1" = "remove" ];" and that worked as expected.

The same goes for preinst but it should check for "install" (I'm
assuming there are more instances where this occurs).

The file I used was the "QConvergeConsole CLI for Linux (x64)" from
http://driverdownloads.qlogic.com/QLogicDriverDownloads_UI/SearchByProduct.aspx?ProductCategory=39=935=65

I would attach the RPM but I doubt QLogic would be happy me
redistributing their software.

2015-12-27 Thread kostasz
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1514912 ***

How can I downgrade to Thunar 1.6.6 after doing d0-release-upgrade from
xubuntu 15.04 to 15.10 thus switching from Thunar 1.6.6 to 1.6.10? Is
there any chance to downgrade just Thunar?
