[Bug 1530528] [NEW] printing problem with kernel
Public bug reported: I have a canon MG 7150 printer. I have a server running ubuntu server 14.04.3 (64 bit). The printer is shared across my network (Linux mint, Mac OSX and windows 7) with CUPS. I use canon supplied drivers for linux version 4.0.0 (i have the following packages installed: cnijfilter-mg7100series_4.00-1_amd64.deb & cnijfilter-common_4.00-1_amd64.deb) Printing has always worked fine up to (and including) kernel 3.13.0-68, however, if I use kernel 3.13.0-71, -73 or -74 I cannot print. If I give the command lp /etc/hosts I get the response "lp: Error - Scheduler not responding". On the CUPS web interface jobs are listed as "printer not responding; will retry in 30 seconds..." I have also tried installing the cannon drivers on my desktop machine (LinuxMint 15.10, kernel 3.13.0-32) and that also works fine. Sorry this isnt much to go on -- I couldn't see anything relevant in the syslog. ** Affects: linux-meta (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1530528 Title: printing problem with kernel To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-meta/+bug/1530528/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1518566] Re: Ubuntu 15.10 freezing randomly
I am experiencing this bug as well, on the same hardware. I have tested the mainline builds, and can confirm that the bug exists with linux-image-4.4.0-040400rc7-generic_4.4.0-040400rc7.201512272230_amd64 as well. After some searching, it appears that this bug is known in upstream: https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=109051 As such, it probably occurs on most machines with Intel BayTrail processors, and is so far unresolved in upstream, to my knowledge. As the bug report mentions, there is a workaround, namely to add "intel_idle.max_cstate=1" to the boot options (using grub, add this to the GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT in /etc/default/grub, then run update-grub). This likely comes at the cost of some increase in power consumption, but so far it seems to work for me. If I get any more hangs even with this option, I will leave another comment. ** Bug watch added: Linux Kernel Bug Tracker #109051 http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=109051 ** Tags added: kernel-bug-exists-upsream kernel-bug-exists- upstream-4.4-rc7 ** Tags removed: kernel-bug-exists-upsream ** Tags added: kernel-bug-exists-upstream ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1518566 Title: Ubuntu 15.10 freezing randomly To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1518566/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 995332] Re: Please enhance NetworkManager such that DNSSEC validation is done whenever possible
On Wily, I edited /etc/dnsmasq.d/network-manager and added the following lines: # DNSSEC setup dnssec trust-anchor=.,19036,8,2,49AAC11D7B6F6446702E54A1607371607A1A41855200FD2CE1CDDE32F24E8FB5 dnssec-check-unsigned I then restarted network-manager and tried to connect to http://www.dnssec-failed.org/. [Bug 1513914] Re: Dell E7440 touchpad jumps position
I would like to be able to post the URL, but how do I find it? I have not had any replies to the two reports which I emailed to dmitry.torok...@gmail.com with cc to linux-in...@vger.kernel.org (on 20th November for results with kernel 4.3.0-040300-generic) and on 7th December for results with kernel 4.4.0-040400rc3-generic) Also, I have searched the forum for any posting relating to my problem and not found any. [Bug 1033598] Re: the CAPTCHA challenge in Ubuntu Software Center is much too difficult to solve for a real human being
I am a first-time Linux user of any distro. I chose Ubuntu for my laptop because I had read that it is the best distro for laptops in its interface. Had I not been a person who is loathe to use Microsoft and one who cannot afford Mac, I probably would be looking to go elsewhere after encountering this very severe problem with the CAPTCHA. Truthfully, I am downright mad that after 3 years this issue is basically being ignored. Here you have a community that prides itself on forward-thinking and out-side-the-box alternatives to modern computing, yet it maintains a Neanderthal approach to solving established problems within its system. Way to welcome new Ubuntu users. In all seriousness, I may be choosing to switch to LinuxMint after this experience. Yes, Ubuntu Community, this issue is serious enough that even after having installed the distro, set-up an account, and found a way to get past the CAPTCHA bug, I -- and likely many others -- am considering dumping this distro for another. Take that to mean you have a lot of work to do if you want to be welcoming of new users. So far, you are failing miserably. In truth, I expect little to be done, as it seems that this community is more about the status quo than continued evolving improvement. If that weren't the case, this would not still be a bug after 3 years. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1033598 Title: the CAPTCHA challenge in Ubuntu Software Center is much too difficult to solve for a real human being To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/software-center/+bug/1033598/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

If I for whatever reason (for example, I want to stick to concrete kernel version) uninstalled linux-image-generic meta-package, it won't tell me that thermald is no more needed. ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: packaging -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1530540 Title: Put thermald as recommendation into linux-image-W.X.Y-Z-generic, not into linux-image-generic To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1530540/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1530529] [NEW] printing problem with kernel
** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1530529 Title: printing problem with kernel To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1530529/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1530530] [NEW] Installer doesn't show up on Chromebook Pixel 2
Public bug reported: I downloaded Ubuntu Wily 15.10, then copied into an USB drive in order to use that to install Ubuntu on my Chromebook Pixel 2. After selecting the drive to boot from, I only get a terminal that shows up the following lines: graphics initialization failed Error setting up gfxboot boot: Same happens with any *buntu ISO image ( I tried KDE and XFCE as well). At this point, I tried to download the Debian8 ISO image and I noticed that the installer doesn't recognize the video size, too but then asks for the user to manually select a suitable video format from a list of options. Install instructions are available at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds . This will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. If testing on your main install would be inconvenient, one may: 1) Install Ubuntu to a different partition and then test this there. 2) Backup, or clone the primary install. If the latest kernel did not allow you to test to the issue (ex. you couldn't boot into the OS) please make a comment in your report about this, and continue to test the next most recent kernel version until you can test to the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette . Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't have to create a new bug report. Once the BIOS is updated, if the problem is still reproducible: 1) Please provide the output of the following terminal command (not perform an apport-collect): sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date 2) Please make a comment specifically advising on if there was an improvement or not. 3) Please mark this report Status Confirmed. [Bug 1528303] Re: Hotnkey Fn+f5 Fn+f6 won't change brightness on ASUS UX303UB
patrez, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. At your earliest convenience, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available from the very top line at the top of the page from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/?C=N;O=D (the release names are irrelevant for testing, and please do not test the daily folder)? One way to set the xfce4 wallpaper is: xfconf-query -c xfce4-desktop -p /backdrop/screen0/monitor0/image-path -s (Single display, not multiple monitors) Perhaps this command can be added to the set wallpaper command on gthumb so that it will work in the Xfce4 (Xubuntu, etc) desktop environment. ** Affects: gthumb (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1530570 Title: "Set as Background" feature fails to work in Xfce4 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gthumb/+bug/1530570/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1178622] Re: 'maniuplating' typo
I stumbled into the typo and I noticed that it has recently fixed into master branch of modemmanager: http://cgit.freedesktop.org/ModemManager/ModemManager/commit/?id=d5bc19f7db1bbbe8c54c2dc7d31bbc7a68c28d66 The fix was not backported into 1.4.x stable series so far, so this bug will be really fixed when the next major series of modemmanager will be released (or it can be closed marking it as solved upstream, I don't know the policies here). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1178622 Title: 'maniuplating' typo To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/modemmanager/+bug/1178622/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
