[Bug 1522316] Re: Icons are too big

2016-01-06 Thread Silvio Bierman
What is the status of this bug? The current 16.04 still has huge desktop
icons and no way to make them smaller. The Nautilus icon size options
are also way too limited. The smallest setting is too small and both
larger settings are too big for list mode.

Reducing the options to three sizes is a big mistake IMHO. Where we used
to have slowly increasing resolutions on computer screens the high res
screens today are twice the resolution of main stream screens. If
anything we need more options than before. Unity allows pixel sizes for
the launcher icons and Nautilus chooses to dumb down.

Together with the unfortunate choice of making Nautilus another horrible
CSD window desktop usability has taken a huge plunge in 16.04.

[Bug 1531457] [NEW] AppHeader has no background

2016-01-06 Thread Tim Peeters
Public bug reported:

The clipping of the Page not to overlap with the AppHeader (which has
transparent background) was removed in this MR:
https://code.launchpad.net/~zsombi/ubuntu-ui-
toolkit/bottomEdge/+merge/278336

So in the AdaptivePageLayout, the Page contents, and the header contents
may now overlap, and because the AppHeader has no background, that is
wrong.

The AppHeader in MainView still has the clipping enabled, but this may
poorly affect performance and it is no longer needed if we give the
header a background, as is the case in all the new designs.

Florian Voit, given no crash information is provided, and you emailed a
generic mailing list with information from the Ubuntu kernel, I wouldn't
expect a response. Upstream needs something more to work with besides
"my computer crashes". Also, they don't support the Ubuntu kernel.

Despite this, would there be anything in either the old xorg, or syslog?

[Bug 1285044] Re: every times browser showing untrusted connection, why/

2016-01-06 Thread DiagonalArg
This is not a firefox problem. Chromium also suffers, even though with
exceptions getting through to the internet is fine. On my new install
ssl certs do appear to be present.

[Bug 1285044] Re: every times browser showing untrusted connection, why/

2016-01-06 Thread DiagonalArg
Just going by the title, I am similarly effected. This is a new install
of 15.10, (Gnome). I can access sites fine from other machines on the
LAN, but my new install tells me that all connections are untrusted. I
have also installed chromium browser and I have the same problem. For
both, if I allow the exception, I can get through fine. (Though not to
google.com which doesn't allow security exceptions, apparently.) I have
checked /etc/ssl/certs, and all looks fine. (There is, at least, a long
list of certs there.)

So, this is not a firefox issue. It's something deeper.

[Bug 1523228] Re: package nfs-common 1:1.2.8-6ubuntu1.2 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2016-01-06 Thread jmartinz
I've been having the same error.
In my case statd.log gave this message:
/proc/self/fd/9: 6: /etc/default/nfs-common: no: not found

Checking /etc/default/nfs-common there was this line
NEED_STATD= no
instead of
NEED_STATD=no
(note the space between = an no) and it was giving me that error.

I am not aware of having changed nfs-common file configuration...

Anyway, this bug has helped me to solve my problem.
thanks

[Bug 1307545] Re: Power Manager settings are ignored when closing laptop lid

2016-01-06 Thread Jeroen Ruigrok van der Werven
When I probe that configuration parameter, it responds with false on my
install of 15.10 Xubuntu. Yet when my lid is closed while in my docking
station (two external monitors connected), the system puts it in suspend
mode after a short time. Is there still some default setting I have to
mess with, because I honestly cannot seem to find any settings I need to
toggle/tweak.

[Bug 1531352] Re: QEMU_LD_PREFIX not load correct library order in the PATH

2016-01-06 Thread bananaapple
** Description changed:

run qemu with QEMU_LD_PREFIX argument will not load correct library order in
the PATH.
  How to reproduce this bug:
These command will download the library of other architectures
  wget
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/BinaryAnalysisPlatform/qira/master/fetchlibs.sh
  ./fetchlibs.sh
  This is 32bit binary file,
  wget http://train.cs.nctu.edu.tw/files/magic
  chmod +x ./magic
  qemu-i386 -L /home/apple/libs/i386 /home/apple/magic
  This is work fine.
But after you install gcc-multilib, it failed.
  sudo apt-get install gcc-multilib
  qemu-i386 -L /home/apple/libs/i386 /home/apple/magic
The following is the error message
  /home/apple/magic: 0: ̀Í: D$($: Error 18446744073549536926
Because the order of dynamic linker search the shared library is wrong.
When your system has /lib32 directory, its priority is higher than the
QEMU_LD_PREFIX.
If the system not loaded correspond with the dynamic linker, it will crash.
  Code flow:
- linux-user/main.c:
- call loader_exec
- linuxload.c:
- call load_elf_binary
- elfload.c:
- in load_elf_binary function
- dynamic loader will be elf_interpreter
+ linux-user/main.c:
+   call loader_exec
+ linuxload.c:
+   call load_elf_binary
+ elfload.c:
+   in load_elf_binary function
+   dynamic loader will be elf_interpreter
I think the problem should be here.

[Bug 1505564] Re: Soft lockup with "block nbdX: Attempted send on closed socket" spam

2016-01-06 Thread Nick Moffitt
This problem has caused more serious damage recently. When nbd dies and
printk()s like mad, the serial console is not fast enough to display it.

The kernel keeps allocating buffer space for serial output, which we see
as 13G kmalloc-256 or kmalloc-512 kernel threads.

Eventually the OOMkiller tries to free up space, but it can only kill
userspace programs so ultimately the system dies altogether.

This is more dire than mere CPU load or lockup warning messages.

[Bug 1531439] [NEW] Freeze after kernel upgrade to 4.0.23

2016-01-06 Thread Ales
Public bug reported:

After the recent kernel upgrade 2.4.0-23 the computer freezes (see the
screenshot) and I'm not able to login neither into a graphic mode nor
the text console.

When I try previous kernel 4.2.0-22 the result is the same even if it
worked before.

When I go to the recovery mode (Grub menu > Advanced options > Linux
4.2.0-23-generic (recovery mode)) and just select "Resume normal boot"
it boots as normal and I can login into KDE. But I guess it is in some
non accelerated graphics mode.

[Bug 1531465] [NEW] /usr/share/sddm/scripts/Xsetup is overwritten on updates

2016-01-06 Thread Michael Marley
Public bug reported:

The /usr/share/sddm/scripts/Xsetup file is automatically and silently
overwritten when sddm is updated, removing any modifications the user
may have made to the file. This is a pain because it requires the file
to be re-edited after every update if the user needs to launch something
(a VNC server, for example) from Xsetup.

Instead, this file should probably be handled like other configuration
files (asking the user whether to keep or replace the file).

[Bug 1528668] Re: [regression] Qt.application.active not working correctly

What about test cases? The dialer tests passed despite the bug when I
was checking this. Does any existing test catch it - which would mean
either the bug was introduced manually or the test plan is complete?

[Bug 1307619] Re: All Qt5 applications' menu bar is missing at non-Unity DEs after appmenu-qt5 installed

2016-01-06 Thread achevrier
Hi. This bug of absence of menu bar affects also the usage of OPENSCAD when
used under ubuntu 14-04 and gnome-shell.
OPENSCAD menu bar is accessible under Ubuntu14-04 UNITY (or METACITY ...) with
appmenu-qt5 installed.
But, under gnome-shell+Ubuntu14-04, with appmenu-qt5 installed, the menu bar is
not accessible (no menu bar at all).
However, under gnome-shell+ubuntu14-04, uninstalling appmenu-qt5 allows to
access to the menu of OPENSCAD. The menu bar is present. However, the behaviour
to acess to sub-items of menu bar, works in 2 steps: 1/ clic one time on the
item menu does not show the subitem; 2/ reclic again on the same menu item
allows to get the subitems.
And, with appmenu-qt5 uninstalled under Ubuntu14-04 UNITY, the menu bar is
still visible and accessible, but its behaviour to access to sub-items is also
changed (in 2 clic instead of 1 clic).

[Bug 1531455] [NEW] reboot under Oracle Virtual Box not possible

2016-01-06 Thread Christian Bachmaier
Public bug reported:

Running 16.04 server without X unter latest Oracle Virtual Box 5.0.12 on
Windows. After issuing 'shutdown -r now' the following boot process is
not successfull and hangs with message

---[ end of Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: unable to mound root fs on
unknown-block(0,0)

If using 'shutdown -h now' and then staring the machine anew from
Virtual Box manager, then the system starts as it should. Thus, for
short, warm reboot hangs and cold reboot operates as desired. I have the
feeling that this behavour was introduced with kernel 4.3, but I cannot
swear on it.

Imho, may also be a bug of Virtual Box.

The result of ubuntu-bug linux is attached.

[Bug 1531455] Re: reboot under Oracle Virtual Box not possible

2016-01-06 Thread Christian Bachmaier
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected xenial

** Description changed:

[Bug 1531474] [NEW] update-grub improperly inserting between devices on linux line of grub.cfg in multi-dev btrfs sys's

2016-01-06 Thread DiagonalArg
Public bug reported:

On a new install of wily. update-grub is improperly inserting a
carriage return on the "linux" line of the grub.cfg menu items, between
the two devices of a btrfs raid1 system (which for my system is in a
luks container). The menu entries all looks like this:

menuentry 'Ubuntu' --class ubuntu --class gnu-linux --class gnu --class os
$menuentry_id_option
'gnulinux-simple-/dev/mapper/luks.root1_/dev/mapper/luks.root2' {
recordfail
load_video
gfxmode $linux_gfx_mode
insmod gzio
if [ x$grub_platform = xxen ]; then insmod xzio; insmod lzopio; fi
insmod part_msdos
insmod btrfs
set root='hd2,msdos1'
if [ x$feature_platform_search_hint = xy ]; then
  search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set=root --hint-bios=hd2,msdos1
--hint-efi=hd2,msdos1 --hint-baremetal=ahci2,msdos1
fe74974e-3e23-43af-bfb1-7b520673c52b
else
  search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set=root
fi
linux /@s3970boot/vmlinuz-4.2.0-23-generic root=/dev/mapper/luks.root1
/dev/mapper/luks.root2 ro rootflags=subvol=@ quiet splash $vt_handoff
initrd /@s3970boot/initrd.img-4.2.0-23-generic
}

Removing that makes everything boot fine.

[Bug 1517553] Re: Push Notifications Delayed or Missing

2016-01-06 Thread Michał Karnicki
Sorry for late reply, had extended hols and catching up.

Notifications seem to be working fine for me. As mentioned, I believe
Telegram addressed some problems on their end, but I have no further
insight into potential problems that persist. Are you still having
issues with notifications as of today? Thanks.

Hello,

Would it be possible to have someone test the potential modification
from a PPA ? Since it concerns addition of a new feature to a stable
release, I would prefer to have a bit more testing done before uploading

Kind regards,

..Louis

[Bug 1528880] Re: freeze

2016-01-06 Thread Harkishan Singh
The mainline kernel did not fix the issue. As i do not know how to add
tags:kernel-bug-exists-upstream & kernel-bug-exists-
upstream-4.4-rc8,please add those for me.

I have installed the kernel on 15.45 hrs and the system froze around
20.27 hrs, which means that there was an uptime of 5 hours.

another point to note is that i was loading up 3 tabs on chrome, all
loading youtube podcasts in 480p.I was watching one of these podcasts
when the system froze.

Uninstalling kernel-4.4-rc8 and reverting to kernel 4.3.0.5-generic

[Bug 1488719] Re: dmesg shows "[drm:gen8_irq_handler [i915]] *ERROR* The master control interrupt lied (SDE)!"

2016-01-06 Thread Morten Clausen
I have to revice my comment from January 4th. The error is gone without
external display connected with 4.4.0 rc7 for me too, still occuring
with ext. display connected. I'm not sure what I was looking at, maybe
booted the wrong kernel, stupid me.

Since yesterday 4.4.0 rc8 is released, same behaviour without external
display connected, error is gone. I will check rc8 with external display
connected later this day when I'm at home.

[Bug 1531478] [NEW] Browsers apparently not finding certs in Wiley new install

2016-01-06 Thread DiagonalArg
Public bug reported:

New install of 15.10, (Gnome). I can access sites fine from other
machines on the LAN, but my new install tells me that all connections
are untrusted. I have also installed chromium browser and I have the
same problem. For both, if I allow the exception, I can get through
fine. (Though not to google.com which doesn't allow security exceptions,
apparently.) I have checked /etc/ssl/certs, and all looks fine. (There
is, at least, a long list of certs there.)

So, this is not a firefox or chromium issue. It's something deeper.

Because apport can't get to the browser, I'm not sure how to send system
data.
