[Bug 1535553] Re: failed installation

2016-01-19 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Reviewing your log files attached to this bug report it
seems that there is a problem with your installation media (CD/DVD).
You can verify the integrity of the Ubuntu ISO files you downloaded by
following the instructions at
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HowToMD5SUM. You might also retry
your installation with new media. In the event that is is not in fact
an error with your installation media please set the bug's status back
to New. Thanks and good luck!

You seem to have installed the cinnamon package on Ubuntu 13.10.
Unfortunately, that package is not available yet for 14.04. To upgrade
to Ubuntu 14.04 LTS you'll need to either wait for a fix for cinnamon to
be available or uninstall the package and then upgrade.

[Bug 1532634] Re: Netbeans hangs at startup splash screen

2016-01-19 Thread Marek Slama
I do not see typical deadlock. It hangs in native call in thread "AWT-
EventQueue-1". If you take thread dump later is it the same? I want to
make sure it will not change. Anyway please could you file issue to
netbeans.org? I cannot say if it is OpenJDK issue or some native GTK
library issue. Or you can reassign this to OpenJDK directly here to see
if there is any similar issue. NetBeans tries to start with native
Look which is GTK in this case.

[Bug 1535579] [NEW] Libreoffice no longer shows menu in top panel

Public bug reported:

Since a recent update, there is no longer a menu in the top panel. This
means no access at all to several operations, for example, I can no

[Bug 1530953] Re: Support GRUB's native root=ZFS=

2016-01-19 Thread Richard Laager
In my original patch, I added BOOT=zfs code to conf.d/zfs. In your
package, you have that code in conf-hooks.d/zfs instead.

I installed the package from your PPA. It does not work. If I move the
code from conf-hooks.d/zfs to conf.d/zfs, then it works.

Here's my HOWTO for doing a ZFS root install:
https://github.com/rlaager/zfs/wiki/HOWTO-install-Ubuntu-to-a-Native-
ZFS-Root-Filesystem

For xenial, just substitute "xenial" for "wily" when doing the
debootstrap and in /etc/apt/sources.list.

The goal of this change is to avoid what is currently step 4.7, adding
"rpool=rpool bootfs=rpool/ROOT/ubuntu boot=zfs" to GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX in
/etc/default/grub.

[Bug 1534191] Re: video replay should resume after user confirms high volume

2016-01-19 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
I don't understand what this has to do with indicator-sound. Wouldn't
exactly the same problem exist if we had no sound indicator at all? I
gave my opinion on what the media player should do in bug 1504065, but
I'm not involved with the design of that app.

2016-01-19 Thread Jarno Suni
This seems to work for me. I changed some things based on feedback from
Robert Euhus (and a little bit more). I don't see a problem in updating
the kernel list in case a linux-image-extra package is being removed;
the list does not change then, but this updates also, when a linux-image
package is being removed, when it may be necessary to update the list.

[Bug 1535635] [NEW] NetworkManager does not really ignore devices, disturbing udev

2016-01-19 Thread Hadmut Danisch
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I'm just trying to configure an ubuntu machine to work as a network
controller (dhcp, dns,...) for several virtual and physical machines,
using a linux bridge as a virtual network, and trying to automatically
add USB-Ethernet-Devices to the bridge through udev.

Unfortunately my udev rules fail since Network Manager does rename new
Ethernet devices *before* udev runs, e.g.

eth0 to enxe80006d8

for my USB ethernet device. Thus, many regular udev rules fail since
they use the device name the kernel passes (=eth0), but can't find that
device for commands (since it changed it's name).

Instructing NetworkManager to ignore ifup-configured devices does not
help, since NetworkManager renames the devices and thus does not apply
/etc/network/interfaces rules for eth0.

Even worse: Even when listing the particular mac address in
/etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf to be ignored, NM ignores it in
the way that it does not configure it, but still renames it.

Is there any other way to make NetworkManager completely keep its dirty
fingers away from Network Devices except for completely killing it?

[Bug 1535648] [NEW] ifquery crashing

2016-01-19 Thread Hadmut Danisch
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I'm just doing some tests where to use an ubuntu machine as a router and
thus plugging in an USB Ethernet devices as it's second ethernet
interfaces.

Unfortunately I can't keep that damned Network manager from renaming the
device (i.e. from eth0 to enxe80006d8), even if I tell NM to ignore
the device. Since this happens before udev, it confuses several udev
scripts).

In context of this problem I found lots of messages in /var/log/syslog
of the kind

[Bug 1535646] [NEW] BLUETOOTH MOUSE: with a mouse connected lock the device and leave for some time when you return the mouse is in sleep mode and the phone is in normal not windowed mode

2016-01-19 Thread Dave Morley
Public bug reported:

STEPS:
1. Flash a device
2. Connect a bluetooth mouse
3. Let the device sleep
4. Leave it for a couple of minutes
5. Wake the device do not move the mouse
6. Device is in phone mode
7. UNlock the device and move the mouse
8. Device after 30+ seconds flips back to windowed mode

EXPECTED:
When a mouse is connected I expect the device to always be in windows mode
regardless of if the mouse is in sleep mode

ACTUAL:
When the mouse is in sleep mode it is like it is disconnected and the windowed
mode is no longer active.

[Bug 1535652] [NEW] Bluetooth headset is chosen in unity-control-center when plugging in a normal headphone

2016-01-19 Thread Anthony Wong
Public bug reported:

This bug is better explained by the reproduction steps:

1. pair a bluetooth headset and make sure it works
2. open sounds settings (unity-control-center sound)
3. select the bluetooth headset device
4. then select the internal speaker
5. plug in a common 3.5mm headphone to the computer

Notice that the bluetooth headset is automatically chosen, which I think
is a surprise to users, as user expects to use the headphone when he's
plugging that in.

[Bug 1535654] [NEW] BLUETOOTH MOUSE: with a mouse connected leave the device with a window on top

2016-01-19 Thread Dave Morley
Public bug reported:

STEPS:
1. Flash a device
2. Connect a bluetooth mouse
3. Open the web browser (It should be in windowed mode)
4. Goto ubuntu.com and now leave the device and watch the window
5. Around the time that the screen starts to dim the Window wil flash
Fullscreen and then back to windowed mode again

EXPECTED:
I expect the device to remain in windowed mode as long as the mouse is connected

ACTUAL:
The mouse is allowed to disconnect while idle meaning that normal mode is
triggered this then triggers the system to rewake and register the mouse again
and flips back to windowed mode.

[Bug 1535561] [NEW] hugepages doc symlinks broken

2016-01-19 Thread ChristianEhrhardt
Public bug reported:

The package hugepages have no own docs but instead symlinks to docs of
libhugetlbfs build from the same source package.
This is fine as libhugetlbfs is a dependency, but the links are broken.

Example file from hugetlbfs:
└──╼ ll /usr/share/doc/hugepages/HOWTO.gz
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 24 Jan 11  2014 /usr/share/doc/hugepages/HOWTO.gz ->
../libhugetlbfs/HOWTO.gz

Now the file that is there has the lib version in its path:
dpkg -L libhugetlbfs0 | grep HOW
/usr/share/doc/libhugetlbfs0/HOWTO.gz

I checked 2.17-0ubuntu2 (trusty) and 2.19-0ubuntu1 (xenial) which both
behave this way.

Should just be packaging and not super critical, but yet worth to
report.

[Bug 1519282] Re: Keyboard backlight stopped working after upgrade to Wily

2016-01-19 Thread Harry P
Sorry Christopher, I'm not sure this should be closed. An Ubuntu
install with UEFI boot consistently shows the problem. An install with
old-style BIOS does not. So the problem is with Ubuntu's UEFI boot
loader, which I'm sure the team would want to fix, since it's meant to
be the preferred way of booting PCs these days?

This might mean you want to reassign the bug to a different package,
rather than closing it?

[Bug 1478222] Re: Ubuntu Touch forgets WiFi settings after first connection. EDUROAM network WPA & WPA2 Enterprise

2016-01-19 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
Huh, I think this is actually my fault. When I designed the
authentication controls for the various wi-fi authentication types, I
included a "Remember password" checkbox for some of them (TTLS, FAST,
PEAP) but not others (WPA Personal, TLS, LEAP, WEP). I don't know why I
did that.

So unless anyone can figure out what I knew then that I don't know now,
:-) I'll remove all those "Remember password" checkboxes from the
design. Like muyiwa says, there seems to be little point in remembering
all the authentication details for the network *except* for the
password.
