Just committed the fix for this. It was based on Tobias's patch, but his patch didn't properly exclude wxMac. And Benjamin was correct, there was a crash when the "running" Audacity attempted to disconnect the socket. Took me nearly all day to figure out what the heck was going on. Basically,
