[Bug 1551283] Re: ibus/im-config in Ubuntu GNOME

2016-03-07 Thread Tim
I've still not tested, but those patches look mostly fine from GNOME
side.

However not really sure if the Flashback stuff is correct (edubuntu guys
maintain that), but note on flashback is now using

XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP=GNOME-Flashback:Unity

It is still using unity-settings-daemon/unity-control-center and
presumably language-selector-gnome, so I guess it just uses the same
config as Unity does? Now I wouldnt be surprised if there are snippets
of code all over the place that don't support the above format, since
they never broke on core ubuntu desktop.

Otherwise
+if os.environ.get('XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP')[-5:] in ['Unity', 'MATE',
'GNOME'] \
+ or locale.getlocale(locale.LC_CTYPE)[0][:3] in ['zh_', 'ja_', 'ko_',
'vi_']:

os.environ.get('XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP').split(':')[-1]

Would seem a little safer with the know use-cases

++if [ "$XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP" = 'Unity' -o "$XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP" =
'MATE' -o "${XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP##*:}" = 'GNOME' ]; then

that won't match for Flashback (I don't know if its meant to though?)

[Bug 1551283] Re: ibus/im-config in Ubuntu GNOME

2016-03-07 Thread Alkis Georgopoulos
Thank you very much Gunnar, the latest PPA changes work as expected for me in
gnome-flashback, i.e. ibus isn't running and I can type Greek just fine.
What you have in the PPA is a good compromise for 16.04, please keep it that
way.

For the future, post 16.04, I'll try to raise the issue in Debian's im-config,
so that there's no need to have an Ubuntu debdiff (or to minimize it).
I.e. I will ask that ibus isn't running in locales where it's not needed,
because:
1) It's causing issues (some of them will be solved in time)
2) It's wasting 20 MB of non-shared RAM (echo 3 > /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches;
free; killall ibus-daemon; echo 3 > /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches; free), which is
an issue in multi-user systems like LTSP thin clients.

2016-03-07 Thread ChristianEhrhardt
Thanks for reporting.
As I'm currently testing and fixing all kind of this it matches what I do this
week.
I just came not yet by vfio-pci, by that I have to thank you to make me aware.

I'll have a look at it and let you know.

[Bug 1546556] Re: Dropping privileges in openvswitch-switch via --user is incompatible with --dpdk

2016-03-07 Thread ChristianEhrhardt
Hi Thiago,
when running into the issue the bug is referring to it looked way different.
So I'd say the issue you are currently facing has nothing to do with the bug.

I've seen your mail on the List and will reply there with some
suggestions and by that keep the bug to the related things.

[Bug 1435706] Re: DevLossTO, FastIoFailTO settings do not match multipath.conf expected values

2016-03-07 Thread Tore Anderson
Okay, sorry about the irrelevant verification on Vivid then. But I'd
like to point out that Trusty behaves exactly the same, i.e., the bug is
*not* fixed. Using the exact same multipath.conf as I mentioned in
comment #31 with multipath-tools on 0.4.9-3ubuntu7.9, I get the exact
same behaviour. That is, it is apparent that multipathd does read the
settings from the config file (as they're visible in output from
"multipathd -k'show config'"), but they're not being applied/written to
sysfs.

If I run use the command line utility in verbose mode to create the map,
it does claim that it opens the sysfs files in question, but strace
shows no sign of that actually happening:

[Bug 1546550] Re: openvswitch-switch-dpdk links against libdpdk statically

2016-03-07 Thread ChristianEhrhardt
Yeah we changed the dpdk piece to properly be linkable in bug 1547517.
And James did some great work on updating openvswitch to 2.5.
We just have forgot to update this one, I'll talk to James later if he agrees
that we can close it.

Thanks already Thiago for making me aware!

we can try to apply the patch in SWT.

I got this error email from four different OpenVZ-based VPSes, but not
from any other servers. I wonder what's peculiar about their
configuration.  Locale used by cron?

2016-03-07 Thread Thiago Martins
You know what, this is not even a bug! Sorry about the buzz...

"ovs-vswitch log" is wrong, "log" is not even an option of "ovs-
vswitchd"!

Look:

[Bug 1554166] Re: Downloads changelogs for non desktop components

2016-03-07 Thread Robert Ancell
This one might be tricky to fix. GNOME Software requests all the
information about installed apps before removing invalid entries. So the
best solution is to make GNOME Software smarter in when it requests
changelog information.

Other improvements that will help:
- Downloading the changelogs in parallel
- Skipping entries based on the dpkg section, e.g. ignoring libs. (It's hard to
work out from the APT plugin if a given .deb has appstream information).

[Bug 1554371] [NEW] [Regression] Volume keys not working after suspend/resume

2016-03-07 Thread Furkan
Public bug reported:

I have a Microsoft Sculpt Ergonomic Desktop (keyboard/mouse combo). It
was working great with Ubuntu 15.10. After upgrading to 16.04, the media
keys stop working after suspending and resuming. This seems to be the
relevant error from Xorg.log:

[   176.121] (EE) evdev: Microsoft Microsoft® 2.4GHz Transceiver v9.0:
Unable to open evdev device "/dev/input/event6".

The USB receiver creates 5 devices:

lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root   9 Mar  7 20:17
usb-Microsoft_Microsoft®_2.4GHz_Transceiver_v9.0-event-kbd -> ../event4

usb-Microsoft_Microsoft®_2.4GHz_Transceiver_v9.0-if01-event-mouse -> ../event5
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root   9 Mar  7 20:17
usb-Microsoft_Microsoft®_2.4GHz_Transceiver_v9.0-if01-mouse -> ../mouse1
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root   9 Mar  7 20:17
usb-Microsoft_Microsoft®_2.4GHz_Transceiver_v9.0-if02-event-kbd -> ../event6
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root   6 Mar  7 20:17
usb-Microsoft_Microsoft®_2.4GHz_Transceiver_v9.0-if02-kbd -> ../js0

After suspending and resuming, the last 2 devices (event6 and js0)
disappear.

I have tried booting up into the Vivid and Trusty kernels, and the
problem persists, so at first glance it doesn't seem to be an issue with
the kernel.

[Bug 1554366] [NEW] BQ E4.5: QWERTZ keyboard per bluetooth

2016-03-07 Thread Matthias Apitz
Public bug reported:

I think I have now found exactly what I was locking for as BT keyboard with
mouse "on board":

http://www.amazon.de/dp/B0142BCTT2?psc=1
http://www.amazon.co.uk/BATTOP-Ultra-Thin-Bluetooth-Wireless-Keyboard/dp/B0142BCTT2

This has a German QWERTZ layout and it pairs fine with the E4.5
The only problem I have is, it is German QWERTZ layout and I do
not know how to change this in the Ubuntu BQ E4.5. Normaly in Ubuntu
desktop you can change this, or in FreeBSD, in KDE, etc. How this must
be done in the BQ E4.5, maybe with some command from phablets shell.

I tried, for example

$ sudo dpkg-reconfigure keyboard-configuration

but this complains about the root FS being read-only.

This is weird...

I just removed OVS with DPDK:

apt purge libdpdk0:amd64 dpdk openvswitch-switch-dpdk
apt autoremove

And installed regular OVS:

apt install openvswitch-switch

But, same problem on on log:

So, this might not be even a problem after all?

What is this message on log?

Thanks!

[Bug 1554353] [NEW] Laptop is frozen after resuming from suspend.

2016-03-07 Thread Torin
Public bug reported:

ASUS X553S, Intel 4Core 3700, Mem: 4GB. Ubuntu 14.04.

Laptop is totally frozen in 1-2 minutes after resuming from suspend if I
send/receive data over wifi.

For example, I run Firefox then I start any video on Youtube. In 1-2 minutes
computer is totally frozen.
On screen frozen picture, frozen mouse pointer. Keybord and touchpad do not
work. Network connections are frozen too, network ports are unreachable. To
restart computer I need to hold on power button.

Crash-report in such circumstances does not run! So I need to describe
this bug by my hand.

Some history:

What I have done before this trouble?
I had performed these two commands some days ago:
   echo "options rtl8723be swenc=1 fwlps=0 ips=0" | sudo tee
/etc/modprobe.d/rtl8723be.conf
   echo 'KERNEL=="wlan0", RUN+="/sbin/iwconfig wlan0 txpower 18"' | sudo tee -a
/etc/udev/rules.d/75-wlan.rules

Without these commands wifi connection was not working after resuming
from suspend.

Some additional information:

By the way, Bluetooth does not work totally, and do not work combinations of
key:
Fn+F1, Fn+F2, Fn+F5, Fn+F6, Fn+F7, Fn+F8, Fn+F9, Fn+Enter.
Fn+F10, Fn+F11, Fn+F12 — work. This is control of sound.
I tried 'xev'. There is no any reaction, no key codes, no any changes on screen.

[Bug 1551858] Re: [bluetooth] Connecting to Apple BT keyboard fails due to PIN prompt

2016-03-07 Thread Simon Fels
Because what pairing method is selected is chosen further down the stack
so settings only reacts on what bluez tells it should do. I suspect the
keyboard uses pairing capability KeyboardOnly which then should lead to
passkey entry where the initiator displays and the responder inputs the
PIN (we use KeyboardDisplay) [see Core spec 4.0 page 1968].

However the described dialog on your side is incorrect as it just asks
the user to confirm or cancel which could still be an settings app issue
just displaying the dialog but also an issue down the stack.

[Bug 1551858] Re: [bluetooth] Connecting to Apple BT keyboard fails due to PIN prompt

2016-03-07 Thread Simon Fels
And there we go:

Mar  7 15:08:44 ubuntu-phablet bluetoothd[890]: src/device.c:new_auth()
Requesting agent authentication for 04:69:F8:C2:A0:09
Mar  7 15:08:44 ubuntu-phablet bluetoothd[890]: src/agent.c:agent_ref()

src/agent.c:agent_request_confirmation() Calling Agent.RequestConfirmation:
name=:1.119, path=/com/canonical/SettingsBluetoothAgent/adapteragent,
passkey=800772

I expected bluez to call DisplayPasskey here rather than
RequestConfirmation. So what settings displays is correct (in terms of
what it was asked for).

[Bug 1554346] [NEW] ovs-vswitchd log: connection attempt failed (Address family not supported by protocol)

2016-03-07 Thread Thiago Martins
Public bug reported:

Guys,

 I'm seeing an error right after first steps towards enabling
OpenvSwitch with DPDK on Xenial, easy to reproduce:

--
 NOTE: Instructions presented on an Intel post, also face this problem:

https://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/using-open-vswitch-with-dpdk-on-ubuntu
--

 Steps to reproduce:

 * Installing

 apt update
 apt install dpdk openvswitch-switch-dpdk

 update-alternatives --set ovs-vswitchd /usr/lib/openvswitch-switch-dpdk
/ovs-vswitchd-dpdk

 * Configuring

 - Set DPDK_OPTS in "/etc/default/openvswitch-switch" file:

DPDK_OPTS='--dpdk -c 0x3 -n 4'

 - Set NR_2M_PAGES in "/etc/dpdk/dpdk.conf"

NR_2M_PAGES=64

 Then, just reboot the box, to make sure that it will come enabled.

 You can see that "ps axf | grep dpdk" will show that openvswitch is,
apparently, working with DPDK! But, is it really working?

 The BUG, run "ovs-vswitchd log", look:

---
root@xenial-1:~# ovs-vswitchd log

---

Someone else is also facing this problem:

https://software.intel.com/en-us/forums/networking/topic/611366

And I strong believe that because of this problem, it is not possible to
use a DPDK 10G NIC device, with OpenvSwitch+DPDK, thread on Ubuntu Devel
mail list (I'm guessing here):

https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-devel-
discuss/2016-March/016287.html

I really appreciate any help!

Thanks!

[Bug 1554344] [NEW] Mouse left click stops working

2016-03-07 Thread Petteri Kähärä
Public bug reported:

HP Elitebook 8770w. Mouse left/right click & scroll wheel works only on
system panels (Window menus, choosing application, shutdown etc.), not
anywhere else. Reboot fixes problem, but it reappears after unknown time
period (usually overnight).

This problem is the same with touchpad buttons & external usb mouse.
Replugging mouse does not help.

I chose xorg package because this was instructed on older similar bugs.

[Bug 1540886] Re: xfrm and fwmark do not work on VXLAN xmit

2016-03-07 Thread Atzm Watanabe
Thank you for the advice.
I tried LTS Enablement Stack (linux-image-generic-lts-wily) and it worked fine
to me.
So I don't need a backport. I mark the issue status Invalid.

Thank you again!

[Bug 1105453] Re: gEdit hangs when searching a minimized css file

2016-03-07 Thread Stan Williams
I noticed it lockong up first last night when i opened some CSS files and
again tonight I opened a file named bootstrap.min.css which is 117.3 kB.
Gedit immediately froze up again. I have to use System Monitor to kill it
when it does that.

[Bug 1515791] Re: apparmor for qemu is too restrictive for USB passthrough

2016-03-07 Thread Serge Hallyn
Hi,

could you please show the contents of
/etc/apparmor.d/libvirt/libvirt-99917005-9251-4ea3-9e72-946b42061df1 ?

virt-aa-helper *is* supposed to be adding an rw entry for each usb file
for hostdevs being added (through file_iterate_hostdev_cb()), so I'm
wondering which file isn't being handled and why.

The default security driver in Ubuntu is apparmor.

Could you please show the output of

cat /etc/*-release
ls -l /etc/apt/sources.list.d

dpkg -l | egrep -e '(libvirt|qemu)'

and show any relevant DENIED messages in syslog (grep DENIED

Your libvirt version, 1.2.12, is not in any support release of Ubuntu.

[Bug 1386465] Re: apparmor profile prevents libvirtd from creating a socket

2016-03-07 Thread Serge Hallyn
Because this bug report has quite a bit of information and history has
taught me that not keeping information from different reporters separate
can greatly complicate matters.

Since I'm asking for apport-uploaded information, it would be best that
it not be mixed with information from another system.

[Bug 1386465] Re: apparmor profile prevents libvirtd from creating a socket

2016-03-07 Thread Serge Hallyn
Also note that there are already several different directions into which
this bug has been taken. A crucial question is whether step 3 in
@mahmoh's recipe is really needed:

 3) /etc/default/libvirt-bin: ' libvirtd_opts="-d -l" '

If not then there are different bugs at work.

Re: [Bug 1553757] Re: dbconfig-common: writing config to /etc/dbconfig-common/maas-region-controller.conf stat: cannot stat '/etc/dbconfig-common/maas-region-controller.conf': No such file or director

2016-03-07 Thread Andres Rodriguez
Hi Paul

Sorry for the delay and thanks for looking into it. Good catch on the
postrm. At least I know that's my fault. That being said, I wonder if
unregistering the file actually explains why it doesn't get re-created. The
funny thing here is that this is the first time it actually does something
similar (not creating the file), and the packaging hasn;'t really change in
that area.

I'm gonna try to reproduce what you suggest with touching the file and see
whether things get resolved with the fix to postrm..

Thanks!
