[Bug 1554716] Re: FFe: Sync nvidia-cuda-toolkit 7.5.18-1 (multiverse) from Debian experimental (non-free)

2016-03-08 Thread Graham Inggs
** Summary changed:

- FFe: Sync nvidia-cuda-toolkit 7.5.18-1 (multiverse) from Debian unstable
(non-free)
+ FFe: Sync nvidia-cuda-toolkit 7.5.18-1 (multiverse) from Debian experimental
(non-free)

** Description changed:

  Please sync nvidia-cuda-toolkit 7.5.18-1 (multiverse) from Debian
- unstable (non-free)
+ experimental (non-free)

  Explanation of FeatureFreeze exception:
  New upstream version with support for the latest GPU devices.
  Support for gcc/g++ 5, previous version only supports up to 4.9.
  The packages contain pre-compiled binaries so there is no opportunity to
backport fixes from future versions, so shipping the newest possible version in
Ubuntu is desirable.

  I have built a recent snapshot of Debian's SVN in a PPA for amd64 and ppc64el.
  The reverse dependencies eztrace-contrib, hwloc-contrib, pycuda and
starpu-contrib all built, some with minor modifications.

  Changelog entries since current xenial version 7.0.28-3:

- nvidia-cuda-toolkit (7.5.18-1) UNRELEASED; urgency=medium
+ nvidia-cuda-toolkit (7.5.18-1) experimental; urgency=medium

[ Zhou Mo ]
* New upstream release 7.5 (Sept 2015).  (Closes: #807579)
* SOVERSION bump: 7.0 => 7.5, rename all library packages.
* Update symbols control files.
* [ppc64el] Adjust location of nvvm/lib.
* Update Lintian overrides.

[ Andreas Beckmann ]
* Refresh man-sections.patch.
* debian/copyright: Synchronize with updated EULA.txt.
* Use multiarch substitution in nvcc.profile.
* gcc-support.patch: New, allow usage of GCC 5.
* Use gcc-5/g++-5 as preferred compiler.
* Update documentation regarding the CUDA Code Samples.
* [ppc64el] Use the no-libcuda1 virtual package on Ubuntu.

I'm not quite sure about this.
If I choose 'Try Ubuntu' and then choose 'Instal', this bug pops up.
If I choose directly 'Install Ubuntu' on a text based Ubuntu Boot up screen,

[Bug 1554117] Re: gnome-software search bar duplicates letters while typing

2016-03-08 Thread wereturtle
Thanks for the quick reply. I completely understand regarding bugs that
are hard to reproduce, being a software developer myself. I'm running
the 16.04 beta on a VM, and the bug is happening every time I use the
application. This is the only application that it happens in. I wonder
if running in a VM has something to do with the frequency at which I am
seeing the issue?

[Bug 1554803] Re: apparmor throwing inexplicable errors

2016-03-08 Thread Steve Beattie
Thanks for taking the time to report this issue and help improve Ubuntu.
This specific issue is a duplicate of
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/webbrowser-app/+bug/1511439
which I believe has been addressed by the webbrowser-app package in
16.04.

However, I'm not marking it as such as it seems to me that making each
desktop package that wants to ship "converged" policies have to include
stub apparmor directories seems... inefficient at best, and that perhaps
the apparmor packaging should provide these directories, that can be
populated by apparmor-easyprof-ubuntu as needed (or not).

[Bug 1547466] Re: grep switches into binary mode while processing a text file

2016-03-08 Thread Stefan Bader
While it is good to have the builders fixed, there is one worrying
aspect to this: this may happen to anything using grep and modifies the
output in an unexpected way while still returning a zero return code.
For example:

echo -e "Hello\nWörld" | LANG=C grep -v xxx; echo $?

will no longer return both input lines (note the German umlaut ö) but
stop at the second line (even if there were more), print a "binary ...
matches" and return with 0. So having the grep passing its output to
another pipe, there is no way to tell it is going wrong. Given that it
is not uncommon to set a LANG=C in scripts (as one then knows what
output language text messages will have) and potentially might be used
to parse file lists (where file names may have special characters) it is
hard to predict how much breakage this may cause.

[Bug 1554371] Re: [Regression] Volume keys not working after suspend/resume

2016-03-08 Thread Furkan
Hi Chris,

The BIOS you're referring to is a beta BIOS. I have installed it in the
past but had a memory compatibility issue with it so I reverted back.
Based on the change log of the beta BIOS, it doesn't fix any bugs (the
only change is "Update CPU AGESA Code").

Also, in this particular scenario, I think the BIOS is probably
irrelevant since the keyboard works fine in Ubuntu 15.10, so I don't see
a reason why it shouldn't continue to work after upgrading to 16.04.

Based on the above reasons, I am switching the status back to Confirmed.
I can install the beta BIOS if you insist, but it will likely be a
useless exercise on my part. As an alternative, I may prefer to upgrade
one of my other computers to 16.04 to see if I can reproduce the bug on
a different system.

[Bug 1554330] Re: Reboot upon resume from suspend on Dell XPS 13

2016-03-08 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Anmar Oueja, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu
better.

In order to allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue, at your
earliest convenience, could you please test the latest upstream kernel
available from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/?C=N;O=D ? Please
keep in mind the following:
1) The one to test is at the very top line at the top of the page (not the
daily folder).
2) The release names are irrelevant.
3) The folder time stamps aren't indicative of when the kernel actually was
released upstream.
4) Install instructions are available at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds .

If testing on your main install would be inconvenient, one may:
1) Install Ubuntu to a different partition and then test this there.
2) Backup, or clone the primary install.

If the latest kernel did not allow you to test to the issue (ex. you couldn't
boot into the OS) please make a comment in your report about this, and continue
to test the next most recent kernel version until you can test to the issue.
Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version
specifically you tested. If this issue is fixed in the mainline kernel, please
add the following tags by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil
icon, next to the word Tags, located at the bottom of the report description:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-X.Y-rcZ

Where X, and Y are the first two numbers of the kernel version, and Z is
the release candidate number if it exists.

If the mainline kernel does not fix the issue, please add the following tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream
kernel-bug-exists-upstream-X.Y-rcZ

Please note, an error to install the kernel does not fit the criteria of
kernel-bug-exists-upstream.

Also, you don't need to apport-collect further unless specifically
requested to do so.

Once testing of the latest upstream kernel is complete, please mark this
report Status Confirmed. Please let us know your results.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Bug 1554371] Re: [Regression] Volume keys not working after suspend/resume

2016-03-08 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Furkan, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better.

As per http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3908#bios
an update to your computer's buggy, insecure, and outdated BIOS is
available (F12). If you update to this following
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything?

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette
.

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful.

Also, you don't have to create a new bug report.

Once the BIOS is updated, if the problem is still reproducible:
1) Please provide the output of the following terminal command (not perform an
apport-collect):
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date
2) Please make a comment specifically advising on if there was an improvement
or not.
3) Please mark this report Status Confirmed.

If it's not reproducible, please mark this as Invalid.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Bug 1360247] Re: JSON format for Variant encoding uses system locale for doubles

2016-03-08 Thread Michi Henning
I just tried with version 1.6.5-4. Unfortunately, it's still broken.
When the locale is set to de_DE.utf8, it serializes correctly now, but
it no longer parses "10.5" and, instead, comes back with '10.5' is not
a number.' :-(

[Bug 1554919] [NEW] dhclient debug script error

2016-03-08 Thread Duncan Thomas
Public bug reported:

/etc/dhcp/dhclient-enter-hooks.d/debug is broken

It outputs the name of the variable twice, rather than the contents of
the variable, e.g.

ipaddress='ipaddress'

The fix is to change eval "content=\$var" to eval "content=\$$var"

I believe the fixed script is attached to this bug

Did you upload new nautilus package? When I wrote it it was about patches
in last uploaded version in xenial. Also it is not only about old
patches/code, same problem is with new patches/code - mostly it is simple
g_strcmp0...

As for "GNOME-Flashback:Unity" vs "GNOME-Flashback:GNOME", switching

That is right thing... GNOME Flashback should work with GNOME components
not Unity.

Yes at least for monitor config, idle monitor.

That is how it should work.

I guess something like that could be part of glib API...

And no I don't like going back to GNOME-Flashback:GNOME. Many things

Be more specific - please give me list of broken things so I can fix
that.

Not a solution.

There was time when GNOME Flashback was really in bad shape upstream, but
things have improved - it definitely is not that good as I would like, but
it should be usable.

Arch has added GNOME Flashback back to community repository with message -
"It became usable with GNOME 3.18". From ubuntu forum:

In my case, I've rebuilt some flashback packages with git codebase and now

P.S. The problem is not only with nautilus. Looks like Ambiance is and will
be Unity only theme. It not updated to support csd windows. It does not
work good with mutter, metacity - CSD windows are not resizable, windows
has problem with rounded corners...

[Bug 1554279] Re: Times advances twice as fast with refined-jiffies

2016-03-08 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Nicholas Westlake, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu
better.

As per http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/product-
support/product/poweredge-r720/drivers?os=naa an update to your
computer's buggy, insecure, and outdated BIOS is available (2.5.4). If
you update to this following
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything?

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette
.

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful.

Also, you don't have to create a new bug report.

Once the BIOS is updated, if the problem is still reproducible:
1) Please provide the output of the following terminal command (not perform an
apport-collect):
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date
2) Please make a comment specifically advising on if there was an improvement
or not.
3) Please mark this report Status Confirmed.

If it's not reproducible, please mark this as Invalid.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Bug 1494350] [NEW] QEMU: causes vCPU steal time overflow on live migration

2016-03-08 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I'm pasting in text from Debian Bug 785557
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=785557
b/c I couldn't find this issue reported.

It is present in QEMU 2.3, but I haven't tested later versions. Perhaps
someone else will find this bug and confirm for later versions. (Or I
will when I have time!)

Hi,

I'm trying to debug an issue we're having with some debian.org machines
running in QEMU 2.1.2 instances (see [1] for more background). In short,
after a live migration guests running Debian Jessie (linux 3.16) stop
accounting CPU time properly. /proc/stat in the guest shows no increase
in user and system time anymore (regardless of workload) and what stands
out are extremely large values for steal time:

 % cat /proc/stat

Reading the memory pointed to by the steal time MSRs pre- and
post-migration, I can see that post-migration the high bytes are set to
0xff:

(qemu) xp /8b 0x1fc0cfc0
1fc0cfc0: 0x94 0x57 0x77 0xf5 0xff 0xff 0xff 0xff

The "jump" in steal time happens when the guest is resumed on the
receiving side.

I've also been able to consistently reproduce this on a Ganeti cluster
at work, using QEMU 2.1.3 and kernels 3.16 and 4.0 in the guests. The
issue goes away if I disable the steal time MSR using `-cpu
qemu64,-kvm_steal_time`.

So, it looks to me as if the steal time MSR is not set/copied properly
during live migration, although AFAICT this should be the case after
917367aa968fd4fef29d340e0c7ec8c608dffaab.

After investigating a bit more, it looks like the issue comes from an overflow
in the kernel's accumulate_steal_time() (arch/x86/kvm/x86.c:2023):

  static void accumulate_steal_time(struct kvm_vcpu *vcpu)
  {
  u64 delta;

  if (!(vcpu->arch.st.msr_val & KVM_MSR_ENABLED))
  return;

  delta = current->sched_info.run_delay - vcpu->arch.st.last_steal;

Using systemtap with the attached script to trace KVM execution on the
receiving host kernel, we can see that shortly before marking the vCPUs
as runnable on a migrated KVM instance with 2 vCPUs, the following
happens (** marks lines of interest):

 **  0 qemu-system-x86(18446): kvm_arch_vcpu_load: run_delay=7856949 ns
steal=7856949 ns

[Bug 1398274] Re: [Feature] TPM2.0 kernel support

2016-03-08 Thread XiongZhang
Sorry, I have to add more commits for TPM 2.0 trusted keys.
In v4.5 kernel:
6674ff1 tpm_ibmvtpm: properly handle interrupted packet receptions
b8ba1e7 tpm_tis: Tighten IRQ auto-probing
e3837e7 tpm_tis: Refactor the interrupt setup
7ab4032 tpm_tis: Get rid of the duplicate IRQ probing code
2511204 tpm: rework tpm_get_timeouts()
036bb38 tpm_tis: Ensure interrupts are disabled when the driver starts
727f28b tpm_tis: Use devm_free_irq not free_irq
f728643 tpm_tis: further simplify calculation of ordinal duration

There are also some bug fixes patches queued in maintainer's tree for v4.6.
Once 4.6-rc1 is released, we will give the commits.
If 16.04 couldn't wait for 4.6-rc1, 16.04 should pick this fixes at least
which will be in 4.5.1 stable.

Re: [Bug 1552504] Re: clicking noise on acer 131t-c1yf

2016-03-08 Thread bhikkhu subhuti
I cannot download anything until 4.00 am when the myanmar rates are 1 ks
versus 6ks per mb.
I am excited to something useful for the ubuntu community.
Can you tell me what the clicking noise is? I am most curious because my
comouter is solid state.!

In the meantime, I could prepare an ubuntu , but how.?
The testing for ubuntu is now done on a standard usb live 1 gb persist. On
a 9 gb parition usb.
The 4.4.4 kernel was actually only installed on lubuntu.

However, my machine came with only 32 gb. And windows eats most of it (with
almost nothing installed).
I have lubuntu installed on a removeable SD which is permanently there.
(This replaced my ubuntu)
I do have another removable sd, but i am afraid to remove the one I have.
Is it possible to up steams a live usb last time it failed and there was
not enough space. I only have 2gb ram so I cannot do a big live usb. I
tried installing Ubuntu on a usb a few noghts ago and it did not work and I
needed to run boot-repair to fix things back.

[Bug 1549951] Re: plymouth on ubuntustudio 16.04 boot is blank

2016-03-08 Thread Ross Gammon
I had a quick look at this last night. Something strange has happened
where the plymouth theme was moved from /usr/lib to /usr/share, and our
bzr was out of sync and we tried to fix that. It appears that the latest
upload may be missing some files.

I will try and do a diff between our bzr upsteam branch, and all the
recent releases to work out where we went wrong.

- I modified the debian/changelog to match our format
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SecurityTeam/UpdatePreparation
- I modified the patch to include dep3 tags: http://dep.debian.net/deps/dep3/

Thanks

[Bug 1553903] Re: Touchpad dosent work from start on

2016-03-08 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Jannik Hahn, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu
better.

As per http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/Laptops-and-netbooks
/ThinkPad-Edge-
laptops/ThinkPad-E460?linkTrack=GPS:Body_Search%20Products&beta=false an
update to your computer's buggy, insecure, and outdated BIOS is
available (1.12).

1) Please provide the output of the following terminal command (not perform an
apport-collect):
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date
2) Please make a comment specifically advising on if there was an improvement
or not.
3) Please mark this report Status Confirmed.

If it's not reproducible, please mark this as Invalid.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Bug 1553941] Re: Lenovo Y700-17ISK: Direct firmware load for iwlwifi failed

2016-03-08 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
aljosa, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better.

To clarify, do you actually have a usability issue with the WiFi?

** Tags added: latest-bios-cdcn30ww

** Description changed:

- Lenovo Y700-17ISK (Intel Core i7-6700HQ/RAM 16GB/SSD 512GB/Nvidia GTX960M 4GB)
- Operating system: Ubuntu 16.04 (xenial-desktop-amd64.iso 04-Mar-2016, kernel
4.4.0-10-generic, nvidia 361.28)
-
- After installing Xenial, I installed all available updates too, and then I
examined detally dmesg output in order to see if everything is ok between
Ubuntu and my new notebook.
- One month ago, wifi didn't work - but now this issue seems solved, at least
partially...
-
-
  Current dmesg output:
-
  [1.869368] iwlwifi :08:00.0: Direct firmware load for
iwlwifi-8000C-19.ucode failed with error -2
  [1.869382] iwlwifi :08:00.0: Direct firmware load for
iwlwifi-8000C-18.ucode failed with error -2
  [1.869392] iwlwifi :08:00.0: Direct firmware load for
iwlwifi-8000C-17.ucode failed with error -2
  [1.869589] iwlwifi :08:00.0: Unsupported splx structure
-
-
- I'm not an expert so I'm not sure about all (potential) consequences of this
firmware problem, but I know for certain that this problematic lines shouldn't
exist inside my dmesg output.
-
- When compared to other two Asus notebooks (both with Xenial installed on
- ssd), my new Lenovo boots up much slower due to some other issues too:

[Bug 1546328] Re: Systray option does not work.

2016-03-08 Thread Ross Gammon
Thanks Dmitry. That really helps make it clear. I have updated the
upstream bug with the analysis.

So it appears we have a choice:
1. Go with the original proposal (patch attached) and build qjackctl with QT4
for Xenial
2. Cherry pick two of the upstream commits and try and get it working that way

I will look at (2) in the next few days.

[Bug 1554897] [NEW] With silo050 if an app has a black background it flickers temporarily to white at startup

2016-03-08 Thread Andrew Hayzen
Public bug reported:

With silo050 if an app has a black background it flickers temporarily to
white at startup

What happened:
1) Ensure you are using the latest UITK from silo050
2) Install the linked [0] branch which has a black/dark background (similar to
the Music app)
3) Launch the application
4) Notice as it is launched that once the splash disappears, it temporarily
goes to a white backgound causing a large flicker

What I expected to happen:
At step 4) for there to be no flicker

Note, I've also noticed that the indicators and scopes do the same at
startup of the device.

[Bug 1553811] Re: Thinkpad T460: Trackpoint mouse buttons instantly generate "release" event on press

2016-03-08 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Ryan, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better.

[Bug 1274740] Re: Re-enable traditional titlebar on 'gnome-but-not-shell' sessions too

2016-03-08 Thread Khurshid Alam
Why don't we use it like gedit? i.e

+static gboolean
+in_desktop (const gchar *name)
+{
+   const gchar *desktop_name_list;
+   gchar **names;
+   gboolean in_list = FALSE;
+   gint i;
+
+   desktop_name_list = g_getenv ("XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP");
+   if (!desktop_name_list)
+   return FALSE;
+
+   names = g_strsplit (desktop_name_list, ":", -1);
+   for (i = 0; names[i] && !in_list; i++)
+   if (strcmp (names[i], name) == 0) {
+   in_list = TRUE;
+   break;
+   }
+   g_strfreev (names);
+
+   return in_list;
+}

Then we can use : if (in_desktop ("Unity"))

And no I don't like going back to GNOME-Flashback:GNOME. Many things
will be broken. Lots of things need to be patched which we don't want in
LTS.

(BTW, In Ubuntu, we can still reach nautilus preference if we add
indicator-applet-appmenu to the panel. Although its a personal choice)

[Bug 1554895] [NEW] Mouse going crazy at bottom right corner

2016-03-08 Thread Theo
Public bug reported:

I am running Ubuntu 14.04 on a Lenovo Yoga 2 13 and, after a few minutes
of working, the mouse pointer goes crazy. It goes to the bottom right
corner of the screen and flickers, clicking stuff randomly.

* Adding a USB mouse and deactivating the trackpad makes no difference.
* Tried Kubuntu 15.10, problem still there.
* Tried suggestions in

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2235704
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2229831&page=2&p=13451930#post13451930

without success also.

As mentioned by other users, my laptop is currently unusable. I do not
want to switch to Windows but, given the current hardware I have, I do
not see how I can resolve this.

[Bug 1552938] Re: Keyboard not working on boot

2016-03-08 Thread Alex
The problem has been fixed with 4.4.0-11-generic kernel.

The current reason for high shutdown times was CPUS adding 60s and that
seems unrelated to this issue. All problems described in this issue was
solved by the new kernel, let's hope it stays that way. :)

I'll mark it as fixed.

[Bug 1552504] Re: clicking noise on acer 131t-c1yf

2016-03-08 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
bhikkhu subhuti, in order to allow additional upstream developers to examine
the issue, at your earliest convenience, could you please test the latest
upstream kernel available from
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/?C=N;O=D ? Please keep in mind
the following:

[Bug 1552938] Re: Keyboard not working on boot and stop job taking forever

2016-03-08 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Alex:
>"There is however(on boot) a purple screen for a couple of seconds before it
>turns black and reappears with the input box for the decryption password, but
>that might be normal."

It might be.

>"The shutdown now seems to work every now and then. Sometimes it shuts
down quickly but other times it hangs for a long time after "[ OK ]
Stopped Thermal Daemon Service", I'm not sure what it's waiting for, so
something seems to be wrong there. Should I mark this bug as fixed and
create a new one as the problem has changed with the latest kernel?"

Given the issue scoped to this report "Keyboard not working on boot" has
been resolved, then this report is considered closed. However, you are
welcome to file a new report about the shutdown delay.

** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu)
   Status: Fix Released => Invalid

** Summary changed:

- Keyboard not working on boot and stop job taking forever
+ Keyboard not working on boot

** Description changed:

- When using the 4.4.0-9-generic the splash screen that asks for my
- encryption password don't register any keypresses. If i force the laptop
- to shut down and boot again the screen doesn't even show, it's just
- purple. But then I can enter my password and hit enter and it will
- unlock and bring me to the Ubuntu login screen.
-
- When shutting down it hangs on "A stop job is running..." (/dev/dm-0 i
- think it was) until it times out (90 sec).
-
- If I switch back to the 4.4.0-8-generic kernel it all works just fine,
- boot goes to splash screen, I can type in my encryption password, and it
- also shuts down without waiting for 90 secs.
-
- Description: Ubuntu Xenial Xerus (development branch)
- Release:  16.04
+ When using the 4.4.0-9-generic, keyboard doesn't work. If I switch back
+ to the 4.4.0-8-generic kernel it works fine.

[Bug 1386379] Re: Audio Input switches after opening "Sound Settings/Input"

2016-03-08 Thread Luke Yelavich
So far I am unable to reproduce this bug. Are you all able to reproduce
this bug in 16.04? This should be able to be tested when booted into a
live 16.04 environment.

Please download the latest daily image for 16.04 desktop from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current and write it to optical
media or a USB drive. Boot into it, and try and reproduce this problem
there. If so, please reply here, and let me know so we can try to debug
this further.

Thanks.

2016-03-08 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
aljosa, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better.

Typically, "Firmware Bug" means you would have a bug in your firmware
versus a software bug in Ubuntu.

Have you had a chance to advise your vendor of this?

[Bug 1554335] Re: Mouse auto select text in some windows

2016-03-08 Thread Otavio
OBS: The bug occurs in the same way on XFCE. Disabling touchpad, the
bug occurs; Enabling touchpad and clicking, the error is gone.

In Mate and Cinnamon, if i disable the touchpad, the bug doesn't happen.

[Bug 1554878] [NEW] fix up usage of XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP

2016-03-08 Thread Tim
Public bug reported:

Since being standardised XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP supports specifying
multiple Desktop Names seperated by a colon, however many of the patches
in Ubuntu pre-date this change so don't correctly support the current
format in some cases.

These days XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP will look something like
Unity
GNOME (gnome-shell)
GNOME-Classic:GNOME (gnome-shell classic mode)
GNOME-Flashback:Unity (Flashback sesison, although upstream and debian use
GNOME-Flashack:GNOME for this)

Many of the patches only check for == "Unity" or == "GNOME", so
misbehave for the latter cases in the list above.

I suspect this will be more widespread than just nautilus, but fixing
that would be a good start. Since most of this code is still Ubuntu
specific (upstream mainly use XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP for onlyShowIn etc),
probably taking the last value in the string would get the desired
result of Unity vs GNOME3 behaviour

ProblemType: Bug
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 16.04
Package: nautilus 1:3.18.4.is.3.14.3-0ubuntu2
