[Bug 1568451] [NEW] Current Tab in Gnome-terminal does not get highlighted

2016-04-09 Thread Balaji G
Public bug reported:

Hi

When multiple tabs are open in gnome-terminal, its difficult to find out
the current tab as the tab does not get highlighted properly. Tab
switching works fine but its very hard to find out the current one.
Ubuntu Gnome 16.04 does not have this problem as a blue underline is
displayed for the current tab and the tab also the current gets
highlighted better.

This problem is seen in Ubuntu 16.04 beta-2 with all updates installed.

Rolling back to prior kernel versions where this was confirmed working
didn't change anything.

Toggling the touchpad on/off button doesn't change this behavior.

This works fine in Windows.

As per cat /proc/bus/input/devices :
I: Bus=0011 Vendor=0002 Product=000e Version=
N: Name="ETPS/2 Elantech Touchpad"
P: Phys=isa0060/serio2/input0

H: Handlers=mouse0 event5
B: PROP=5
B: EV=b
B: KEY=e420 1 0 0 0 0
B: ABS=66180001103

Strangely:
synclient | grep TouchpadOff
TouchpadOff = 2

Change this to:
synclient TouchpadOff=0

Confirm this via:
synclient | grep TouchpadOff
TouchpadOff = 0

Then touch the touchpad and notice:
synclient | grep TouchpadOff
TouchpadOff = 2

[Bug 1435040] Re: Ubuntu Phone (BQ E4.5) does not connect to car-bluetooth

2016-04-09 Thread Thomas Jegen
I updated my Auquaris E.4.5 with OTA-10 today and tested with my Alpine
Car Audio.

After a little bit of a struggle (one crash of the bluetooth on the
phone and a phone reboot) it connects now and shows the phone symbols
(signal strength and battery) on the display of the car audio.

It also does ring when called and I can pick the phone up pressing the
button on the car audio, but neither the speaker nor the microphone of
the the Alpine seem to work and the speaker and microphone of the phone
seems to be switched off.

Toggling to Low as uswsusp is not installed by default (I think?!). I
must have accidentally installed it at some point in the past. Given
uninstalling it is a perfectly fine WORKAROUND I'll leave it as is for

[Bug 1078068] Re: Video blinking blue during incoming call

2016-04-09 Thread Faraz Hussain
I had the same problem with my Dell Latitude 5470 with Intel i7-6820HQ,
Sky Lake (rev 07), running Ubuntu 15.10 (4.2.0-35-generic). I found a
workaround by disabling Xvideo as suggested by Nikolay over at
freedesktop in the post dated 2016-01-14 19:44:42
(https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=93461). Simultaneouos
incoming and outgoing video now works perfectly.

[Bug 1490659] Re: package kde-config-telepathy-accounts (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: trying to overwrite '/usr/share/accounts/services/google-im.service', which is also in package accoun

https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1451728

As bugs, you MUST choose "sddm" as your default Display Manager when you
install KDE with "force-overwrite".

If NOT, you will find sddm runs with the other display manager you chose
as "lightdm" at the same time.

It cause your lost all graphics and control with your PC after ONE
second you see the Login screen.

If it happens, don't worry. First you can reboot your PC with System Request:
Hold on Alt + SysRq key (or PrintScreen key), then press these keys one by
one: R, E, I, S, U, B. When you press B with hold Alt + SysRq, your system will
reboot.

Then, when you see the Login screen, you must press Ctrl + Alt + F1
immediately. And you enter the console. Login and exec the command:
$ sudo dpkg-reconfigure sddm
Then choose sddm as your default display manager, and reboot.
$ sudo reboot

And your desktop will work normally.

[Bug 1078068] Re: Video blinking blue during incoming call

2016-04-09 Thread Faraz Hussain
I had the same problem with my Dell Latitude 5470 running Ubuntu 15.10
(4.2.0-35-generic). I found a workaround by disabling Xvideo as
suggested by Nikolai in the post dated 2016-01-14 19:44:42 UTC here:
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=93461

My /etc/X11/xorg.conf only has the following:

Section "Extensions"
Option "XVideo" "Disable"
EndSection

Both incoming and outgoing video works perfectly. (Also, I did not
notice any other performance degradation, but I'm not a graphics power
user at all.)

@ Scarlett

Did Yofel/Philip have some spare time to look into that yet?

I also think the kubuntu-team can probably ask for some assistance @ IRC
ubuntu-installer. They are familiar with the code behind and look human-
friendly to me, as well as higly competent.

If they can't help, pls assign this to 16.04-milestone-updates.

[Bug 1568428] Re: Python Exception list index out of range

Change to GDB.

It sure would be nice if someone took the time to fix Launchpad and its
broke package search. When looking up GDB, "Too many matches. Please try
to narrow your search" is a useless error message. It would be better to
give someone the damn result.

[Bug 1567061] Re: [FFe] Upgrade to drupal8

2016-04-09 Thread Steve Langasek
FWIW I don't consider it an obvious win to go with drupal8 in 16.04
rather than leaving drupal7 in, broken, and SRUing the php7
compatibility fixes post-release. Drupal8 being a major new upstream
version, there is probably integration testing that would need doing
anyway (drupal7 has no autopkgtests), and an unknown amount of packaging
changes. To me, it seems that drupal8 for 16.04 implies more work now
and more work later.

I accept Martin's judgement that drupal8 is ok for FFe, but as a sponsor
I don't believe I can commit to having enough time to following through
on this given relative priorities.

[Bug 1568429] [NEW] Radeon won't work with KMS enabled

2016-04-09 Thread Charlie McMackin
Public bug reported:

I have a Radeon HD 5770 GPU. After upgrading to Xenial today and
ensuring the xorg radeon driver was enabled, my machine will no longer
boot to a usable state. After selecting default Ubuntu option from GRUB
menu, both monitor lose signal input and the keyboard becomes
unresponsive. Sometimes the machine will reboot on its own, most of the
time I have to hard reset.

If I add `nomodeset` or `radeon.modeset=0` to kernel line in GRUB, the
machine will boot but the radeon driver will not load. Attempting to
load radeon driver with `sudo modprobe radeon modeset=1` after booting
with modesetting off results in the same fail state explained above.

The program is in a Debug configuration, which means CXXFLAGS="-DDEBUG
-g3 -O0". In addition, because DEBUG is defined,
-D_GLIBCXX_CONCEPT_CHECKS and -D_GLIBCXX_DEBUG defined, too. (We test
under a number of odd configurations, like a debug configuration of
Glibc and concept checks).

[Bug 1568211] Re: no UMS support in radeon module

2016-04-09 Thread Charlie McMackin
I am also affected by this bug after upgrading to Xenial and trying to
use radeon KMS. My system will only boot with `nomodeset` or
`radeon.modeset=0`. Futhermore, attempting `sudo modprobe radeon
modeset=1` after booting with `nomodeset` results in the same error
state: screen goes blank, monitor's "No signal detected" message
appears. Sometimes the machine reboots, but not always.

I have a Radeon HD5770 card. I will try to attach logs via apport

[Bug 302506] Re: Files with graphics do not print

2016-04-09 Thread Simon Quigley
Thank you for reporting this bug.

This bug is a specific file, and is not strictly reproducible, so I'm
marking it as incomplete on the grounds as this is very vague.

In addition, this is a very old bug report, and this may or may not
still be valid.

I see your problem, and I've been able to confirm, but this is relating
to a specific file, if you are more specific I would be able to
reproduce. In addition, this is an extremely old bug, so I doubt it
still exists. I'm marking as invalid.

[Bug 1568426] [NEW] md: detects stale members ahead of in-sync members

2016-04-09 Thread Peter Cordes
Public bug reported:

My system boots from XFS on RAID10 on GPT partitions (no LVM). The
RAID10 uses the "far2" layout, and has three component devices. I use
grub-pc for non-EFI booting, because this system is old and doesn't
support EFI (Intel DG965WH from 2008).

I added a fourth hard drive and shuffled my data around so I could re-
partition the existing drives.
-not-yet-failed-disk-in-a-linux-raid5-array)

A few weeks the final `mdadm /dev/md0 --replace /dev/sda1 --with
/dev/sdd1`, grub failed to boot. Error messages included "invalid arch-
independent ELF magic", and `insmod linux` giving "not a regular file".
Booting an Ubuntu live USB showed no problem with the FS, and none of
dpkg-reconfigure grub-pc; grub-install /dev/sda ; update-grub helped.
Before those attempts to fix it, grub was loading a messed-up menu but
not quite booting Linux. After re-running grub-install, it stopped at
the grub rescue> prompt.

sda is the first BIOS disk, but even having my BIOS boot a different
disk didn't help. Presumably that doesn't affect the order GRUB detects
them in.

I eventually solved the problem by swapping the SATA cables so the drive
that didn't have a member of the boot array was not the first BIOS drive
anymore. Now everything works perfectly.

I think GRUB's md code is including the first N members it sees, whether
they're stale or not. Linux's MD code finds all candidates, and then
picks N in-sync ones if available.

This was really hard to diagnose, because disk churn hadn't got the data
so far out of sync that there were XFS errors. Directory listings of
/boot/grub/i386-pc worked from the grub rescue shell, but the actual
data in some of the files didn't match. (And even some of the inode
contents were different, too, hence the "not a regular file")

I think wiping the RAID signature would have solved the problem as well.
(mdadm --zero-superblock /dev/sda2, after making sure that was actually
the stale device in the live-USB environment)

Here's mdadm -E from the stale component (which was sda2 before swapping
cables, now it's sdd2).
This is what a component looks like after a --replace and --remove is done with
it. After that: mdadm --detail /dev/md/root
