[Bug 1453740] Re: do-release-upgrade crashes with message : "UnicodeDecodeError: 'utf-8' codec can't decode byte 0xae in position 337: invalid start byte"
I just encountered this issue when trying to update a trusty server to xenial. Here's how we "resolved" it. After do-release-update exited with a similar to the above message, there is a temporary ubuntu-release-upgrader-{random} left over in /tmp. Enter that directory i.e. cd /tmp/ubuntu-release-upgrader-asd123 edit DistUpgradeCache.py Head down to def installedTasks(self) after the line that reads: "for pkg in self:" add logging.debug("%s \n" % pkg) You need to make sure this is indented with spaces to the same level as the next line. save / exit, then run (assuming you are upgrading to xenial) ./xenial When it crashes this time, you can view /var/log/dist-upgrade/main.log and see which was the last package processed that caused the crash. Remove this package, then proceed with do-release-upgrade as normal. In our case it was a very old wowzaServer package. This is obviously not a fix, but it got the job done :) Hope this helps. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1453740 Title: do-release-upgrade crashes with message : "UnicodeDecodeError: 'utf-8' codec can't decode byte 0xae in position 337: invalid start byte" To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/update-manager-core/+bug/1453740/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1576045] [NEW] dies abruptly from, time to time
Public bug reported: For some unknown reason, from time to time I am left without any window management. No title bar, no window buttons, no ALT+TAB. [Bug 1575813] Re: Dual boot does not work after upgrade to 16.04
What I don't understand is the line with the long UUID for /boot/efi: #UUID=b032ab5d-1a06-4b52-afcb-14954b4b6ab8 /boot/efi /dev/sda1: PARTLABEL= defaults 0 1 this would suggest that at some point the EFI partition was formatted some ext* or other Linux fs instead of the normal VFAT (for which a commented out entry also exists). How did you install this system, in particular which partitioning option did you chose? If you did manual partitioning, what exactly did you do? Is it possible that you changed the EFI partition manually? [Bug 1575555] Re: Chrome/Chromium use "Thin" as default font weight
I'm not sure that's the case... As I described in the original report, once I uninstalled the package and manually downloaded NotoCJK from Google, the issue is fixed, even though I didn't make any changes in the Chrome font settings (the default font is still "Liberation Sans" now). In my original noto folder, there is only one NotoSansCJK file, but in the downloaded zip file, there are various files e.g. NotoSansCJKsc- Regular.otf, NotoSansCJKsc-Bold.otf etc. Maybe this package just packs all of them into one, but then it's likely a fontconfig issue as of why Chrome decided that "Thin" is the correct one to use. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/157 Title: Chrome/Chromium use "Thin" as default font weight To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fonts-noto-cjk/+bug/157/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1448555] Re: network-manager does not autoconnect to wifi network after resume from suspend
I have this bug as well in a clean MATE 16.04 install. x220, Intel 6205 wireless . Using the firmware iwlwifi 18.168.6.1 Various things like #12 sudo iwlist wlan0 scan - does not work for me. Also disabling Wireless and/or networking via Network Manager - and re- enabling does nothing. Nor does using hardware on/off/on for wifi make a difference. Rebooting fixes it. I have tried this fix http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1984317&page=3 [which is a seperate fix for the Intel Wireless hardware flaky WiFi connection - not related I feel] Subsequently I have gone back to 14.04 MATE and works perfectly!
