[Bug 1511058] Re: No application indicator

2016-04-27 Thread Roberto Resoli
My workaround for installing official (and working) owncloud client on
Xenial:

0) Purge 2.1.1+dfsg-1ubuntu1 with broken indicator support. "sudo apt-get purge
owncloud-client" && "sudo apt-get autoremove""
1) Disable universe ubuntu repo (which contains 2.1.1+dfsg-1ubuntu1)
2) Enable *both*:

deb
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/isv:/ownCloud:/desktop/Ubuntu_15.10/
/
deb
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/isv:/ownCloud:/desktop/Ubuntu_16.04/
/

3) sudo apt-get update
4) Reinstall owncloud client: "sudo apt-get install owncloud-client"
5) Re-enable universe repo.
6) mark owncloud-client as hold: "sudo apt-mark hold owncloud-client"

Works for me, and I agree that owncloud client should receive more care
in ubuntu.

[Bug 1453740] Re: do-release-upgrade crashes with message : "UnicodeDecodeError: 'utf-8' codec can't decode byte 0xae in position 337: invalid start byte"

2016-04-27 Thread Robert Krambovitis
I just encountered this issue when trying to update a trusty server to xenial.
Here's how we "resolved" it.

After do-release-update exited with a similar to the above message, there is a
temporary ubuntu-release-upgrader-{random} left over in /tmp.
Enter that directory i.e. cd /tmp/ubuntu-release-upgrader-asd123
edit DistUpgradeCache.py
Head down to def installedTasks(self)
after the line that reads: "for pkg in self:"
add logging.debug("%s \n" % pkg)
You need to make sure this is indented with spaces to the same level as the
next line.

save / exit, then run (assuming you are upgrading to xenial)
./xenial

When it crashes this time, you can view /var/log/dist-upgrade/main.log
and see which was the last package processed that caused the crash.
Remove this package, then proceed with do-release-upgrade as normal. In
our case it was a very old wowzaServer package.

This is obviously not a fix, but it got the job done :)
Hope this helps.

[Bug 1576055] [NEW] gvfsd-dnssd segfault, error in libc-2.23.so

2016-04-27 Thread DasJott
Public bug reported:

This seems to be the reason my network-manager has to be restarted, because it
somehow crashed.

This is what I found in the syslog:

[Bug 1576051] [NEW] Duplicity cannot handle sparse files efficiently

2016-04-27 Thread Aki Tuomi
Public bug reported:

When running backup with duplicity, it cannot handle sparse files
efficiently.

I have a virtual machine image on my home dir,

26G -rw-r--r-- 1 libvirt-qemu kvm 33G huhti 28 08:59 dev02.img

And duplicity is backing it up 33G, when it should only back up 26G.

Steps to reproduce

1. Use qemu-image to create a sparse file
2. Run duplicity
3. Observe duplicity back it up whole instead of very small size

[Bug 1576052] [NEW] Scrollbar on gtk3 has inconsistent behavior

2016-04-27 Thread Oxwivi
Public bug reported:

$ lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 16.04 LTS
Release:16.04
$ apt-cache policy firefox
firefox:
  Installed: 46.0+build5-0ubuntu0.16.04.2
  Candidate: 46.0+build5-0ubuntu0.16.04.2
  Version table:
 *** 46.0+build5-0ubuntu0.16.04.2 500
500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial-updates/main amd64
Packages
500 http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial-security/main amd64
Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
 45.0.2+build1-0ubuntu1 500
500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial/main amd64 Packages

Since the upgrade to version 46.0 using the new gtk3 interface, the
scrollbar has been exhibiting behavior inconsistent with previous
releases and other gtk apps on the system.

What I expected to happen:
 * Left-click below the scroller to evoke the page down function
 * Left-click above the scroller to evoke the page up function
 * Middle-click on the scrollbar to move the scroller to the cursor position

What happened instead:
 * Left-click moves the scroller to the cursor position
 * Middle-click on the scrollbar does not evoke any reaction
 * Right-clicking on the scrollbar evokes the page up/down function

This not only breaks expected behavior from the previous versions, it's
also inconsistent with scrollbar behavior on apps all across the board.

[Bug 1576045] [NEW] dies abruptly from, time to time

2016-04-27 Thread Uqbar
Public bug reported:

For some unknown reason, from time to time I am left without any window
management.
No title bar, no window buttons, no ALT+TAB.
This is happening after a while (2+ hours) since reboot.
The only option I have is to switch to a local console (aka CTRL+ALT+F1) and
run "sudo reboot" as "sudo /etc/init.d/sddm restart" doesn't work and seems to
wait forever.
I am available to provide for more details, but I need to be directed on how to
gather those.

[Bug 1575813] Re: Dual boot does not work after upgrade to 16.04

2016-04-27 Thread Martin Pitt
What I don't understand is the line with the long UUID for /boot/efi:

  #UUID=b032ab5d-1a06-4b52-afcb-14954b4b6ab8 /boot/efi /dev/sda1:
PARTLABEL= defaults 0 1

this would suggest that at some point the EFI partition was formatted some
ext* or other Linux fs instead of the normal VFAT (for
which a commented out entry also exists). How did you install this system, in
particular which partitioning option did you chose? If you did manual
partitioning, what exactly did you do? Is it possible that you changed the EFI
partition manually?

Can you please run "sudo blkid" and paste the output here?

[Bug 1576041] [NEW] Spams "Please run this cronjob as user amavis" from cron after upgrading 12.04 -> 14.04

2016-04-27 Thread Marius Gedminas
Public bug reported:

I've upgraded a server running Ubuntu 12.04 LTS to 14.04 LTS and now I'm
getting these emails from cron:

From: Cron Daemon
To: r...@fridge.pov.lt
Subject: Cron  test -x /usr/sbin/anacron || ( cd / &&
run-parts --report /etc/cron.daily )
Date: Thu, 28 Apr 2016 08:06:26 +0300 (EEST)

/etc/cron.daily/amavisd-new:
Please run this cronjob as user amavis
run-parts: /etc/cron.daily/amavisd-new exited with return code 1

I see that the amavisd-new package has two cron scripts:

$ dpkg -S amavisd-new|grep /etc/cron
amavisd-new: /etc/cron.daily/amavisd-new
amavisd-new: /etc/cron.d/amavisd-new

The one in /etc/cron.d/amavisd-new already runs the commands as user
'amavis', so it looks like the upgrade left a stale cron script lying
around.

[Bug 1576042] [NEW] Many display problems with oxygen-gtk on KDE

2016-04-27 Thread Firas Kraïem
Public bug reported:

With the new Firefox 46 package, Firefox looks very bad when used on KDE
with the oxygen-gtk theme. Most notably, tooltips are now displayed in
black text on black background, but other elements such as form items

The issue is caused by the following commit:

commit 3df6b7b72fd8cb3fd8dd1bee6916b1c91c74d441
Author: Tim Gardner
Date: Wed Dec 2 07:28:37 2015 -0700

UBUNTU: SAUCE: AUFS

Signed-off-by: Tim Gardner

Once it is reverted, no oops is observed any more.

Thanks,

[Bug 1576032] Re: Software compositing of EGL clients is much slower than software clients

I'm guessing this might be related to the fact I'm running on an Intel

still GBM. However the buffer implementation for the software clients is
just local memory (ShmBuffer).

2016-04-27 Thread Daniel van Vugt
** Description changed:

Software compositing of EGL clients is much slower than software
clients. Even when the EGL client is allowed to render in hardware.
There is something weirdly slow about our EGL texture binding compared

  Compositor performance:
7 FPS with mir_demo_client_eglflash (rendered in hardware, only rendering 1
FPS)
7 FPS with mir_demo_client_egltriangle (rendered in hardware)
30 FPS with mir_demo_client_fingerpaint (not redrawing at all)
30 FPS with 'mir_demo_client_progressbar 1' (rendered in software at 1 FPS)
30 FPS with 'mir_demo_client_progressbar 60' (rendered in software at 60 FPS)
+ 30 FPS with 'mir_demo_client_flicker' (rendered in software at 60 FPS)

Thats a good hint, Knut. However on Ubuntu's side, the
/etc/default/varnish file should disappear as it only creates confusion.

[Bug 1575555] Re: Chrome/Chromium use "Thin" as default font weight

2016-04-27 Thread JI Xiang
Could the package just install all weights in separate files just the
way they're downloaded at Google website https://www.google.com/get/noto
/#sans-hans, instead of putting them into one file? Should that make a
difference? This approach seems to solve the issue in Chrome for me.

[Bug 1575555] Re: Chrome/Chromium use "Thin" as default font weight

2016-04-27 Thread JI Xiang
I'm not sure that's the case... As I described in the original report,
once I uninstalled the package and manually downloaded NotoCJK from
Google, the issue is fixed, even though I didn't make any changes in the
Chrome font settings (the default font is still "Liberation Sans" now).
In my original noto folder, there is only one NotoSansCJK file, but in
the downloaded zip file, there are various files e.g. NotoSansCJKsc-
Regular.otf, NotoSansCJKsc-Bold.otf etc. Maybe this package just packs
all of them into one, but then it's likely a fontconfig issue as of why
Chrome decided that "Thin" is the correct one to use.

Crash affects me using Xubuntu 16.04 and Albatross theme. I woke up to
find FF had crashed overnight and a crash report was ready to send. And
after restarting it, it managed to lock up my entire system similar to
how memory leaks have done it before.

[Bug 1327412] Please test proposed package

2016-04-27 Thread Adam Conrad
Hello Jim, or anyone else affected,

Accepted klibc into xenial-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/klibc/2.0.4-8ubuntu1.16.04.1 in a
few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

[Bug 1575507] Re: Language Selector Help not translatable

2016-04-27 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
Right, it's true; thanks for filing this bug report.

There is a history worth mentioning: There was a plan for Ubuntu 11.10
to make the help document translatable. Then there was another plan for
12.04 to replace the Language Support GUI with the GNOME equivalent, so
the translation plan was dropped.

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/language-
selector/+bug/742857/comments/14

But plans changed again, and we still have the Language Support GUI in
16.04.

2016-04-27 Thread spm2011

+ Broken Launcher Icons in Xubuntu Classic Panel Dock

** Description changed:

- The legacy Ubuntu Software Center icon is still present in Xubuntu 16.04
- when the Xubuntu Classic Panel Theme is set.
+ Legacy launcher icons for programs that are no longer installed,
+ including the Ubuntu Software Center, AbiWord , GIMP, and GMusicBrowser
+ are still present in Xubuntu 16.04 live session when the Xubuntu Classic
+ Panel Theme is set. Clicking the icons will display an error message box
+ "Failed to execute child process "/usr/bin/" (No such file
+ or directory)" , since those applications are no longer packaged by
+ default in 16.04.

To reproduce, go to Settings -> Xfce Panel Switch , select "Xubuntu
Classic" , click the apply configuration gears icon , and look at the
- dock on the bottom of the screen. The purple Ubuntu Software Center icon
- is there. Clicking the icon will display an error message box "Failed to
- execute child process "/usr/bin/software-center" (No such file or
- directory)" , since Ubuntu Software Center is no longer included in
- 16.04.

[Bug 1543952] Re: Mir binaries ignore Mesa setting LIBGL_ALWAYS_SOFTWARE=1 and only ever try hardware acceleration

2016-04-27 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Accidentally found a workaround!

You can set environment GBM_ALWAYS_SOFTWARE=1 for Mir servers and
clients, and they will then successfully render in software using
LLVMpipe.

[Bug 1536353] Re: [regression] Printer drivers install is broken as lsb package is not available anymore

2016-04-27 Thread Douglas Santos
Since this bug also affects Epson L355 driver (epson-inkjet-printer-
201207w) and Epson XP-310, that needs lsb (>=3.2), and other printers
as well, why not mark Bug #1573893 as a duplicate of this one?

[Bug 1543952] Re: Mir binaries ignore Mesa setting LIBGL_ALWAYS_SOFTWARE=1 and only ever try hardware acceleration

2016-04-27 Thread Daniel van Vugt
A quick grep seems to suggest it's the responsibility of each EGL
platform to re-implement the environment check:

$ grep -r LIBGL_ALWAYS_SOFT src
src/glx/glxext.c:   glx_accel = (getenv("LIBGL_ALWAYS_SOFTWARE") == NULL);
src/glx/apple/apple_visual.c:   else if (getenv("LIBGL_ALWAYS_SOFTWARE") !=
NULL) {
src/egl/drivers/dri2/platform_wayland.c: int hw_accel =
(getenv("LIBGL_ALWAYS_SOFTWARE") == NULL);
src/egl/drivers/dri2/platform_x11.c: int x11_dri2_accel =
(getenv("LIBGL_ALWAYS_SOFTWARE") == NULL);

[Bug 1575043] Re: drop ubuntu-app-launch direct dependecy on xmir

2016-04-27 Thread Ted Gould
This was done at the request of the pocket desktop folks who want to
drop it from libertine as they move it into the standard seeds. We do
want the 7MB in the main seeds for OTA11 as the pocket desktop seeds are
retired.

[Bug 1448555] Re: network-manager does not autoconnect to wifi network after resume from suspend

2016-04-27 Thread lauricat
I have this bug as well in a clean MATE 16.04 install.

x220, Intel 6205 wireless . Using the firmware iwlwifi 18.168.6.1

Various things like #12 sudo iwlist wlan0 scan - does not work for me.

Also disabling Wireless and/or networking via Network Manager - and re-
enabling does nothing.

Nor does using hardware on/off/on for wifi make a difference.

Rebooting fixes it.

I have tried this fix

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1984317&page=3

[which is a seperate fix for the Intel Wireless hardware flaky WiFi
connection - not related I feel]

Subsequently I have gone back to 14.04 MATE and works perfectly!

Is this a systemd issue perhaps?

[Bug 1576016] [NEW] geoclue2 location not working

2016-04-27 Thread James Wilson
Public bug reported:

After upgrade to to 16.04 LTS, redshift no longer gets any location
through geoclue. Running the gtk app, location stays at 0.0, 0.0. I ran
geoclue-test-gui from the geoclue-examples package, and it correctly
determines a good location, so it seems geoclue itself is working.

[Bug 1576017] [NEW] Touchscreen multitouch inputs/gestures no longer recognized in 16.04

2016-04-27 Thread Adam Colligan
Public bug reported:

This machine is an HP Envy x360 touchscreen hybrid laptop. On upgrade
from 15.10 to 16.04, multiple finger touches / gestures no longer
perform actions in the user session as they did before. This includes
the unity window controls.

I believe as well that pinch used to work when running Google Maps in
Chrome -- this now also fails. I don't know if it's possible that means
it's a symptom of another problem. I'm not sure what tools at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Multitouch/Testing are actually current or
useful right now, as there are some broken links and un-maintained
packages there, but I'm happy to follow guidance on how to help nail
down the problem.

[Bug 1576015] [NEW] chromium-browser does not work with nimf

2016-04-27 Thread Hodong Kim
Public bug reported:

You can download nimf at https://launchpad.net/~hodong/+archive/ubuntu/nimf
Install nimf.
Run chromium-browser in gnome-terminal.
Then, you can see the following message.

@shanen It makes a lot of sense for applications with title bars that
have to do with the content you're viewing. Web browsers and media
players are good examples.
