apt-file 3.0 uses apt to fetch the contents files rather than getting

[Bug 1579712] Re: Refresh hangs indefinitely, appstreamcli using 100% CPU

2016-05-20 Thread Ljiljan Veselinovic
In order to install IBM SPSS, I had to install "libstdc++5" package. I
noticed this bug was happening after installing this package and IBM
SPSS. After removing libstdc++5 (not required to use IBM SPSS, just to
install it), I didn't experience this bug. However, this all happened in
last two days, so it could be that Ubuntu updates fixed the issue.

2016-05-20 Thread Zaphod
For my Machine (Lenovo Thinkpad X201) 4.4.0-21 works with minor glitiches,
4.4.0-22 breaks it: Graphic errors after resume, correction requires reboot.
4.2 (used on the 14.04-Installation before) worked perfectly. 4.4 on the 14.04
worked with glitches.

[Bug 554600] Re: Heap status (memory usage) indicator is unreadable with light themes

2016-05-20 Thread 99Sono
Would it be possible to get a statement of Ubuntu's view on this
problem?

It is legitimate that you say, "we do not see it as our problem". After all,
the choice of re-using OS Theme based colors is not done by Ubuntu but by
eclipse...
But this one already make clear that the problem would then have to be fixed on
Eclipse's and not on Ubuntu's.

In any case, I do believe, however, it is in everyone's best interests
to have this problem solved.

I am certain that I am far from being the only person frustrated that
Ubuntu has the sloppiest looking Eclipse Look & Feel of all OS
distributions. At the end of they day ... we are talking about Eclipse,
I think it is not even debatable that this IDE should be up there on
your top priority list. It should actually be properly tested before any
Ubuntu major release. It is after all the main IDE for java development,
even if canonical focus more on C++, perl and python.

If you state this is clearly an Eclipse only problem, I shall forward
back your feedback to the Eclipse thread I posted above. I hope they
will accept the feedback and tune the eclipse classic theme to work on
Ubuntu, e.g. by not using OS based colors on widgets and other elements.

Many thanks for your understanding and feedback.

upstream is already discussing a few in
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=737356 but wifi priorities has been
implemented and thus this ticket shall be closed as fixed. It's good to see
upstream reversing their initial stance. Too bad trusty most likely won't see
this fix.

[Bug 1584030] Re: ubuntu 16.04 installation hangs

2016-05-20 Thread swei
I find a solution. Today, I reinstall win10 in UEFI+GPT mode and then
install Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, it success, while in the previous BIOS+MBR
mode the Ubuntu installation will stuck at "starting cleanup of
temporary directories". As somebody said, it may related with SSD, mine
is samsung SSD.

Correction, Timo, I have definitively traced this down to
drm_device_keep_trying.patch. 188_default_primary_to_first_busid.patch
is not the offending patch.

[Bug 1584284] [NEW] Ubuntu 16.04 LiveCD does not boot on AMD A10 chip

2016-05-20 Thread Roger Merritt
Public bug reported:

I want to boot a Ubuntu LiveCD of 16.04 on a desktop box with an AMD
A10-5800K AGP, Gigabyte FA-42A75M-HD2 motherboard, 8 GB of RAM, and no
graphics card -- the Radeon HD 7660D graphics are done by the CPU. When
I try to boot I get an error message, "ERROR: no UMS support in radeon
module." When I edit the boot command line to add the parameter
'nomodeset' I first get an error message, "No UMS support on radeon
module," then the familiar aubergine background with the ubuntu logo and
the five dots below it changing from white to red and back again. After
twenty or thirty seconds the background goes to black, I get the error
message "No UMS support in radeon module," and the ubuntu logo
disappears but the five dots continue. After another twenty or thirty
seconds of that the screen clears, at the top is a line: "ubuntu 16.04
ubuntu LTS tty1," below that the line "ubuntu login:" and after a second
or less the screen goes black and I can't do anything except reboot.
I've tried old Live CDs, from 10.10 to 15.10, and they all boot fine.

[Bug 381517] Re: Settings in /etc/kbd/config are not read

2016-05-20 Thread Daniel Richard G.
Thanks to systemd, I've had to update my setterm invocation in
/etc/rc.local to the following:

setterm --term linux --blank 0 --powerdown 0 >/dev/console

("--powersave off" fails with an "Inappropriate ioctl" error because
rc.local no longer runs directly on the Linux virtual console.)

[Bug 1584276] [NEW] network-manager crashes when changing wireless access points

2016-05-20 Thread MBWD
Public bug reported:

After upgrading to 16.04 LTS, whenever trying to switch wifi access
points (APs), network-manager "crashes" -- meaning that the applet no
longer displays available APs and in their stead is a message "device
not ready."

In case it helps, here are the wifi script results:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/13392425/wireless-info.txt.

Note that this is bug different and distinct from Bug #1574347 (wifi
dies on wake from suspend), and the reported fix for that bug does not
help at all.

[Bug 1516451] Re: check_disk plugin broken after upgrade to 15.10

2016-05-20 Thread TomaszChmielewski
The workaround is not really great when LXD/LXC is in use:

$ /usr/lib/nagios/plugins/check_disk -e --exclude-type=tracefs
DISK CRITICAL - /run/lxcfs/controllers is not accessible: Permission denied

$ /usr/lib/nagios/plugins/check_disk -e --exclude-type=tracefs
--exclude-type=cgroup
DISK CRITICAL - /run/lxcfs/controllers is not accessible: Permission denied

$ /usr/lib/nagios/plugins/check_disk -e --exclude-type=tracefs
--exclude-type=tmpfs
DISK CRITICAL - /run/lxcfs/controllers/blkio is not accessible: Permission
denied

So it only works when we exclude all three above, including tmpfs:

$ /usr/lib/nagios/plugins/check_disk -e --exclude-type=tracefs
--exclude-type=cgroup --exclude-type=tmpfs

However, tmpfs is very often used for /tmp, /dev/shm, which are also important
to monitor - and --exclude-type=tmpfs makes the check skip these mountpoints.

2016-05-20 Thread TomaszChmielewski
I think backporting a package from 16.04 should be enough?

[Bug 1579905] Re: cups-browsed causes shutdown hang/delay in Ubuntu 16.04

2016-05-20 Thread Till Kamppeter
I can reproduce the bug. cups-browsed hangs on shutdown when CUPS is not
running any more. One can simply do

sudo systemctl stop cups

and after some seconds

sudo systemctl stop cups-browsed

with the shutdown of cups-browsed hanging.

Problem is that during shutdown cups-browsed accesses CUPS to remove
print queues and save option settings.

Solution is to modify systemd *.service files to assure that on shutdown
cups-browsed shuts down before CUPS.

[Bug 1574681] Re: Merge or sync with Debian unstable

2016-05-20 Thread Joseph Bisch
Winetricks 0.0+20160425-1 has been uploaded to Debian unstable. It is
currently the latest release from Winetricks upstream. The Debian bug
linked to from this bug should be fixed in Debian unstable now.

I'll look at fixing those two issues that were mentioned in this bug in
the next version of winetricks in Debian. The GUI patch was there when I
adopted the package and I was relatively new to packaging, so I left it
the way it was. I don't see any reason to leave it in Debian now, other
than that removing it might surprise Debian users who are used to the
patch. The install paths should definitely be fixed in Debian.
