[Bug 1585471] [NEW] libftdi-based Altera USB Blasters not supported

2016-05-24 Thread Christopher Head
Public bug reported:

The Ubuntu package of OpenOCD does not depend on libftdi and was not
built with --enable-usb_blaster_libftdi. This means it does not support
some types of Altera USB Blasters. It would be nice if a future package
were built to support these adapters.

** Affects: openocd (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

amount of packages stuck in proposed so it will take some time before
this bug will be "Fix Released".

[Bug 1585462] [NEW] Dell Latitude E7440 crash on lid close (MATE 16.04)

2016-05-24 Thread Ken D'Ambrosio
Public bug reported:

Fresh install of 16.04 (installed twice, now -- same issue both times;
apt-get update; apt-get dist-upgrade run in both cases, so latest
packages). On lid close, system hard freezes, requiring power cycle.
On opening lid, is frozen on lockscreen. No mouse movement, no keyboard
movement,  does nothing.  Freezes ~80% of the time;
occasionally (perhaps related to WiFi not being enabled), it suspends
properly.

[Bug 1584314] Re: Togo keyboard layout / compose keys

2016-05-24 Thread Alkis Georgopoulos
Hi Gunnar,

the issue was that in some cases, typing the Greek key for accent (tonos, the
key is ";"), and then after releasing it, typing "α", resulted in two separate
characters, i.e.
;+α=´α
instead of the correct
;+α=ά

At first I thought this was because of ibus, because I was seeing the issue
only on setups where ibus was installed.
But later on I realized that something, maybe /usr/bin/gnome-language-selector,
but possibly something else too, was creating a ~/.xinputrc file:
# im-config(8) generated on Wed, 25 May 2016 07:25:38 +0300
run_im xim
# im-config signature: 5f2367a738e8f9717ddbb719455f7930 -

So when that file was present, even when ibus was not installed, I was still
having the tonos issue.
After running `rm ~/.xinputrc` and logging in again, the issue was gone.

Btw note that opening gnome-language-selector and selecting "None"
creates that file and causes the issue again!!! So we try to never open
gnome-language-selector.

That's all I know about the issue; I found out that Ubuntu Mate comes
without ibus/fcitx installed, so we've switched to using that one, where
the Xorg system-wide keyboard defaults are respected and remain
unmodified after login and everything works flawlessly! :)

ARM: don't attempt to merge litpools referencing different PC-anchors.

There are four thread local storage (TLS) models in Clang/LLVM as following:
1) global-dynamic TLS model
2) local-dynamic TLS model
3) local-exec TLS model
4) initial-exec TLS model
and emulated-TLS (for Android S/W platform)??

Even though, We can build run normally with the static relocation method
by selecting the initial-exec TLS model instead of global-dynamic TLS
model (by default) , We need to run the clang application code with
global-dynamic (or local-dynamic) TLS model in order that we support
some applications is working with dlopen(3) library call.

We have found the appropriate solution for some clang/LLVM applications
including 1) __thread variables and 2) -O2/-O3 of the clang language.
Could you apply this patch to Ubuntu 14.04 LTS and Ubuntu 16.04 LTS
repository?

[Bug 1575614] Re: [SRU]Can't select secret key for TLS auth for 802.1X authentication

2016-05-24 Thread Aron Xu
** Description changed:

- Ubuntu 16.04 LTS x64
- Network Manager: 1.1.93-0ubuntu4
+ [Impact]

+ Users cannot select TLS certificate when connecting to a network that
+ requires TLS type 802.1X authentication
+
+ [Test case]
  STR:
  1. Click on Connections icon in status panel
  2. Click on Edit connections
  3. Select Wired connection
  4. Go to 802.1x tab
  5. Check the Use 802.1X checkbox
  6. Choose TLS
  7. Click on Secret key button
  8. In file chooser navigate to the folder where key is located and try to
select key file - the list is empty

  For wifi connection:
  1. Click on Connections icon in status panel
  2. Click on Edit connections
  3. Select Wi-Fi connection
  4. Go to Wi-Fi Security tab
  5. Select WPA & WPA2 Enterprise in the drop-down list
  6. Choose TLS
  7. Click on (None) next to Private key
  8. In file chooser navigate to the folder where key is located and try to
select key file - the list is empty

- I'm absolutely sure that private key file exists in the folder and is
- correct. As a workaround TLS can be configured manually using
- wpa_supplicant.
+ [Regression Potential]
+ The fix is quite straight forward and the possibility of causing regression
is limited.

+
+ [Test case]
+
+ After installing the update, errors.ubuntu.com should receive a much
+ smaller number of assertion failed crash reports.
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+
+ The assert is removed by upstream and thus backported to archive package
+ because it was believed most of the assertion triggered are false
+ positives, hence the potential of regression is having mis-functionality
+ but the chance is fair low.

[Bug 1585434] Re: ecryptfs_decrypt_page: Error attempting to read lower page; rc = [-4]

2016-05-24 Thread cooloutac
I think it is possibly caused by steam. I can recreate the issue, cause
the lines to show in dmesg. By opening up Steam, load a game, then
quit the game, and then quit steam. Then the new error lines will be
there. As I said though it doesn't happen on 3.19 kernel.

[Bug 1582471] Re: Add focus/unfocus event passing for Xmir non-rootless mode

2016-05-24 Thread Daniel van Vugt
This is correct behaviour. The X server window loses focus, not the X
app inside it.

Your app would lose focus correctly if Unity8 used Xmir properly with
-rootless. I appreciate Unity8's still not ready for that (bug 1543467)
so will implement another workaround in Xmir.

[Bug 1247221] Re: Nautilus doesn't remember setting for showing hidden files correctly when org.gtk.Settings.FileChooser show-hidden is true

2016-05-24 Thread Rui Neto
How to reproduce the bug:

1. Open Nautilus: Everything normal, hidden files are hidden.
2. In Nautilus press CTRL + H: Hidden files are shown.
3. Close Nautilus and open again: hidden files are back hidden.
4. Open Gedit;
5. In gedit try to open file. In the file chooser dialog, press ctrl + h.
Hidden files will be shown, to be choosen. Close Gedit without choosing a file.
6. Open nautilus. Hidden files are shown again.

Resume: when showing hidden files in the file chooser dialog, this
preference sticks when re-opening nautilus.

PS: You can revert to the default behavior in nautilus:

Edit -> Preferences -> Uncheck "Show hidden files"

In UX terms, its counterintuitive.

[Bug 1585438] [NEW] [TOSHIBA NB505, Realtek ALC259, Speaker, Internal] No sound at all

2016-05-24 Thread Khristoph-Alexander Hedare
Public bug reported:

all of the troubleshooting and it still is not responding but is
showing up when asked which device I would like to use for playback

[Bug 1574079] Re: USB audio device is not recognized after startup in 16.04

2016-05-24 Thread kingfriday
When is this fix actually going to be present in vanilla Ubuntu 16.04? I
have been using the "sudo killall fwupd" method to get audio working but
it would be nice to not have to do that everytime I login or update
software or resume from sleep.

[Bug 1585434] [NEW] ecryptfs_decrypt_page: Error attempting to read lower page; rc = [-4]

2016-05-24 Thread cooloutac
Public bug reported:

ecryptfs_decrypt_page: Error attempting to read lower page; rc = [-4]

ecryptfs_readpage: Error decrypting page; rc = [-4]

I dont' have this issue showing in dmesg when using 3.19 kernel, only
with later kernels. Is it related to selecting encrypted home on
install or something?

I don't notice any issues with performance because of it or have any
other error messages. I am using default ubuntu xenial 16.04 with
unity.

[Bug 1584485] Re: Upgrading samba to latest security fixes together with winbind in nsswitch.conf can harm entire OS

2016-05-24 Thread Rafael David Tinoco
** Patch added: "yakkety_samba_4.3.8+dfsg-0ubuntu2.debdiff"

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/+bug/1584485/+attachment/4669818/+files/yakkety_samba_4.3.8+dfsg-0ubuntu2.debdiff

** Description changed:

+ [Impact]
+
+ * Upgrading samba when using winbind as NSS can lead to loosing OS.
+ * Probable not noticed if "compat" is BEFORE "winbind" in nsswitch.conf.
+ * Huge impact due to big version different between winbind and libraries.
+
+ [Test Case]
+
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+
+ * "preinst" and "postrm" maintainer scripts are acting only in "upgrade"
+ * uninstalling packages and reinstalling would bypass this change
+
+ [Other Info]
+
+ * Original Bug Description:
+
It was brought to my attention that, because of latest security fixes
  for samba:

  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/+bug/1577739

  samba (2:4.3.9+dfsg-0ubuntu0.14.04.1) trusty-security; urgency=medium
  samba (2:4.3.8+dfsg-0ubuntu0.14.04.2) trusty-security; urgency=medium
  samba (2:4.1.6+dfsg-1ubuntu2.14.04.13) trusty-security; urgency=medium

when library symbols changed, a samba upgrade MAY jeopardize an entire
Ubuntu OS installation IF /etc/nsswitch.conf uses winbind as a service
(specially if used before compat mechanism).

  How to reproduce easily:

  $ cat /etc/nsswitch.conf
  passwd: winbind compat
  shadow: compat
  group: winbind compat

(winbind is usually used after compat, in this case it was used before)

to have samba version "4.1.6+dfsg-1ubuntu2.14.04.13" installed and do a:

  $ sudo apt-get update

  and FINALLY:

  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/+bug/1584485/comments/1

Leading into an unusable system in the following state:

  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/+bug/1584485/comments/2

  ## state

  Workaround:

DO REMOVE winbind from /etc/nsswitch.conf (and possibly from pam.d with
"pam-auth-update") before ANY attempt of upgrading samba to latest
  version.

  samba (2:4.1.6+dfsg-1ubuntu2.14.04.13) trusty-security; urgency=medium

when library symbols changed, a samba upgrade MAY jeopardize an entire
Ubuntu OS installation IF /etc/nsswitch.conf uses winbind as a service
(specially if used before compat mechanism).

  How to reproduce easily:

  $ cat /etc/nsswitch.conf
  passwd: winbind compat
  shadow: compat
  group: winbind compat

(winbind is usually used after compat, in this case it was used before)

to have samba version "4.1.6+dfsg-1ubuntu2.14.04.13" installed and do a:

  $ sudo apt-get update

  and FINALLY:

  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/+bug/1584485/comments/1

Leading into an unusable system in the following state:

  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/+bug/1584485/comments/2

  ## state

  Workaround:

DO REMOVE winbind from /etc/nsswitch.conf (and possibly from pam.d with
"pam-auth-update") before ANY attempt of upgrading samba to latest
  version.

[Bug 1584485] Re: Upgrading samba to latest security fixes together with winbind in nsswitch.conf can harm entire OS

2016-05-24 Thread Rafael David Tinoco
According to document:

https://wiki.debian.org/MaintainerScripts

I added constrains on letting upgrade to happen for:

libnss-winbind
libpam-winbind
libwbclient0
samba-dsdb-modules
samba-libs
samba
winbind

When winbind is enabled in either /etc/nsswitch.conf or in /etc/pam.d/*
files.

So, whenever trying to upgrade samba you will get something like:

Do you want to continue? [Y/n] y
(Reading database ... 115473 files and directories currently installed.)
Preparing to unpack
.../libnss-winbind_2%3a4.3.9+dfsg-0ubuntu0.14.04.2~lp1584485~4_amd64.deb ...

Warning:

You have winbind configured in either NSS (/etc/nsswitch.conf)
or in PAM (/etc/pam.d/*). Before proceeding with the
installation, or upgrade, make sure to disable winbind!

dpkg: error processing archive

dpkg: error while cleaning up:

That will save you from crashing your system because of NSS being

[Bug 1380480] Re: network disabled after suspend - resume

2016-05-24 Thread lauricat
Please note this fix (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-
manager/+bug/1380480/comments/9) NO LONGER works for me - from yesterday
- after a month or so or working absolutely perfectly fine. (X220 Lenevo
Laptop, 16.04 MATE edition.) ie. back to the same problem of NOT
indicating Networks available on Resume, and connecting to Wireless
showing connected to an unknown network via ethernet connected symbol.

I suspect it broke yesterday after a rather larger system update that
was pushed out yesterday. Could others please check if the same happens
to their system - that have used this workaround?

Thanks.

[Bug 1577197] Re: Pulseaudio bluez5-util.c: TryAcquire() failed - Operation Not Authorized

2016-05-24 Thread Con Kolivas
I have the same issue since upgrading to (Kubuntu) 16.04 with bluetooth
audio not working to the A2DP device. However I found a temporary
workaround - after it connects the audio player stops completely in its
tracks, but if I change the audio configuration on the bluetooth audio
device from A2DP to HSP/HFP audio starts working at low fidelity and if
I then switch it back to A2DP the audio now works at high fidelity.

First, I thank you for your assistance. I tried to install on this other

load. I tried all possible sets as possible for my mobo. Only managed to
proceed when installing version 15.10 and upgrading to 16.04. Running well
now.

2016-05-24 Thread dvergspett
Im trying to install xenial from minimal cd on hp laptop.

fails at the end of update, cant and wont go further in the installation
process.
i386 python3-apt i3861.1.0~betabuild1 is the file making the halt.
This was from archive.ubuntu.com , tried different other archives as the
swedish and norwegian that failed in the installation process at an earlier
stage in retrieving files from archive.

What? The window *should* be realised on first map, which should happen
basically immediately (and is driven by the X11 client, not Mir).

sudo mysql_upgrade --force -u root -p

[Bug 1577760] Re: Screen Display 'Apply' fails

2016-05-24 Thread Max Waterman
Ah, I think I just 'got' what you were suggesting. If I move the
/usr/local/lib/libimobiledevice* away, and then look at the ldd output
from upowerd, I see that it indeed shows it linked to libusbmuxd.so.4,
rather than .2.

[~]$ ldd -r /usr/lib/upower/upowerd | grep usbmuxd
libusbmuxd.so.4 => /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libusbmuxd.so.4
(0x7f35bc721000)

So, yes, that /usr/local/lib/ library was causing a dependency on the
old version of the libusbmuxd library.

Following that line of thinking, I also removed the workaround and, yes:

[~] gnome-settings-daemon --replace

still runs.

If I then reboot, all works as planned (command line and the Apply button
itself). I think you're right.
upowerd was being linked to /usr/local/lib/libimobiledevice.so.6 instead of
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libimobiledevice.so.6, and the former was linked to
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libusbmuxd.so.2, instead of
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libusbmuxd.so.4.

So, why is upowerd getting linked to
/usr/local/lib/libimobiledevice.so.6 in the first place?

for some reason, is trying to switch to efi.

[Bug 1584597] Re: Hyper-V Memory Ballooning re-broken in 16.04

2016-05-24 Thread Joshua R. Poulson
I have tried a number of different reproduction scenarios at this point
on 4.4.0-21 and 4.4.0-22 and am not getting 100% except on a fresh
install.

Why are you modprobing hv_balloon? It should always be present and
should never need to be loaded manually.

[Bug 1584597] Re: Hyper-V Memory Ballooning re-broken in 16.04

2016-05-24 Thread Joshua R. Poulson
Per https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn531029.aspx the
recommended kernel and tools to load is as follows:

# apt-get update
# apt-get install --install-recommends linux-virtual-lts-xenial
# apt-get install --install-recommends linux-tools-virtual-lts-xenial
linux-cloud-tools-virtual-lts-xenial

Of course, it has to be rebooted after this... I *don't* recreate the
problem when I do this... but I did recreate it on a VM that had been
running for a couple weeks.

[Bug 1576434] Re: nvidia-361 does not work with Geforce 610M (Asus X55VD) Xenial Xerus

2016-05-24 Thread Yegor
Maybe it is a solution.
I'm installed Ubuntu 16.04 and after that I updated system packages using
apt-get, also I installed nvidia-361 right after packages updated. Result is
black screen after restart. I deleted nvidia driver, and also I found two
kernels installed in my system, I removed old kernel and reinstalled nvidia
drivers and reboot. It works now!
