[Bug 1542519] Re: Double menu bar

2016-05-29 Thread rtimai
New discovery in the VLC double menu syndrome: Turning "Minimal
interface" on and off by pressing Ctl-H several times on my system seems
to reliably remove the menu in the Unity menubar, leaving the menu in
the window titlebar. This appears to be the behavior despite my Unity
System Settings > Appearance > Behavior settings for the menu to
integrate in the Unity menubar. But at least the cosmetic annoyance can
be fixed, at least persistently over several sessions, if not
permanently.

[Bug 1586894] [NEW] Xenial upgrade installs i386 kernel despite amd64 userland

2016-05-29 Thread Ryan C. Underwood
Public bug reported:

I had a Trusty 14.04 LTS system and used update-manager -d to trigger
the release upgrade to Xenial. Everything went fine, but when I
rebooted into the kernel 4.4.0-22-generic I was greeted with a
stacktrace and an error about not being able to execute /sbin/init on
the initrd.

I booted into the old kernel and extracted and compared the initrd's and
everything important was the same. I then booted with boot_delay=250
and after a long wait was able to see "request_module: runaway loop
modprobe binfmt-464c" messages indicating wrong binary format. Then I
looked at the kernel config and noticed that CONFIG_X86_64 was not
defined on the upgrade kernel; afterwards, I saw that linux-image-
generic:i386 and friends were installed.

After replacing linux-image-generic:i386 and friends with the amd64
variants, all was fine.

Please ensure that if linux-image-generic is installed or replaced, its
arch matches the arch of /sbin/init or systemd perhaps?

[Bug 1586856] Re: docker sends sigterm to systemd-journald and soft reboots the system

2016-05-29 Thread Michael Hudson-Doyle
Well that's interesting, because it sounds a lot like some issues we've
had running the docker CI tests. Would it be difficult for you to try
with docker's 1.10 packages? We'll have docker 1.11 packages sooner or
later so trying with those is also a possibility. I'm not super inclined
to go digging into the root cause until we know if it's an upstream
issue, but I guess I can try to recreate this myself...

I tried again. This time journalctl -xe throws this useful error:
mysqld[23361]: mysqld: Can't read dir of '/etc/mysql/conf.d/' (Errcode: 2 - No
such file or directory)

Easy fix now:
sudo cp -r /etc/mysql/mysql.conf.d/ /etc/mysql/conf.d/

Successfully migrated databases to 5.7

Repairing tables
mysql.proxies_priv OK
Upgrade process completed successfully.
Checking if update is needed.

[Bug 1586883] [NEW] Can't right-edge switch apps when the OSK on-screen-keyboard is visible

2016-05-29 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Public bug reported:

Can't right-edge switch apps when the OSK on-screen-keyboard is visible.

Kind of... You can switch apps if you use the top-right edge and avoid
the OSK. But you can't switch apps using the bottom half of the right
edge when the OSK is there. The OSK is stealing input events from the
edge gesture.

[Bug 1586869] [NEW] ubuntu-fan breaks networking when installed inside an LXD container

2016-05-29 Thread James Johnston
Public bug reported:

If ubuntu-fan is installed inside an unprivileged LXD container (both
host & container are Ubuntu 16.04), it will break networking:

$ journalctl
May 29 23:32:47 sandvich ifup[201]: run-parts: /etc/network/if-up.d/ubuntu-fan
exited with return code 1
M
May 29 23:32:47 sandvich ifup[201]: Failed to bring up eth0.
May 29 23:32:47 sandvich systemd[1]: networking.service: Main process exited,
code=exited, status=1/FAILURE
May 29 23:32:47 sandvich systemd[1]: Failed to start Raise network interfaces.

I couldn't find any other indication in the log of why it failed.

My networking configuration was configured to get an IP address with
DHCPv6. That no longer happened after installation of ubuntu-fan.

I ran into this problem when following Stephane Graber's tutorial on
nesting Docker inside LXD: https://www.stgraber.org/2016/04/13/lxd-2-0
-docker-in-lxd-712/

It turns out that ubuntu-fan is recommended by docker.io:
http://packages.ubuntu.com/xenial/docker.io

So a mere "apt-get install docker.io" will also install ubuntu-fan, and
then break networking inside my container. Easy to skip ubuntu-fan if
you don't need it via "--no-install-recommends" but it's a gotcha if you
follow the above tutorial as-is.

2016-05-29 Thread Richard Baka
@Mike

Look at this link:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1575467.
Cannonical's kernel maintainers are working on it. They are trying to
find the bug with a bisecting process, you can help them too. Just
download the latest test kernel and report if you had a freeze or not
with/on it.

At least Ubuntu has a good support. Upstream Kernel developers don't do
anything.

[Bug 1586862] [NEW] Errors installing dnscrypt-proxy on fresh Ubuntu 16.04

2016-05-29 Thread rowyourboat
Public bug reported:

I have a fresh install of Ubuntu 16.04. I ran sudo apt-get install
dnscrypt-proxy. It installed with errors. After install, I ran sudo
dnscrypt-proxy -R=soltysiak, but it said it could not read the csv file.
I also used the -L option to specify the path and name to the
resolvers.csv. I also verified that I could open and read the file,
which worked.

I uninstalled the package, and installed dnscrypt-proxy using the tar.gz on
it's website. It installed without issue, and functions without issue.
Please test and correct the problem with the package.

[Bug 1586860] [NEW] cannot find libsodium >=0.7.0

2016-05-29 Thread rowyourboat
Public bug reported:

I have a fresh install of Ubuntu 16.04. By default it has libsodium
1.0.8-5. I am trying to install dnscrypt-proxy. However, when I run
./config on the untarred dnscrypt-proxy, it eventually fails because it
cannot find libsodium >=0.7.0.

I believe it is a problem with libsodium, not dnscrypt-proxy, because when I
install libsodium 10.0.10 from the website, then dnscrypt-proxy completes
install without error.
Please update and test with the current version (10.0.10) and make it available

[Bug 253906] Re: Too many redirects. Segmentation fault

2016-05-29 Thread Eriberto
The problem is caused by redirections from http to https, that currently
not supported.

There are efforts to implement SSL and solve this question soon.

[Bug 1586856] [NEW] docker sends sigterm to systemd-journald and soft reboots the system

2016-05-29 Thread Cole Mickens
Public bug reported:

Original report here: https://github.com/docker/docker/issues/23095. It
is copied here in it's entirety. This does not happen with the official
docker 1.11.1 package. I did not try with docker's official 1.10.3
package.

This is a patched xenial VM in Azure.

Something is happening when I try to stop containers on a 16.04 VM. I
lose my ssh session, my tmux session and the machine "soft reboots".

`docker version`:
```
Client:
 Version:  1.10.3
 API version:  1.22
 Go version:   go1.6.1
 Git commit:   20f81dd
 Built:Wed, 20 Apr 2016 14:19:16 -0700
 OS/Arch:  linux/amd64
Server:
 Version:  1.10.3
 API version:  1.22
 Go version:   go1.6.1
 Git commit:   20f81dd
 Built:Wed, 20 Apr 2016 14:19:16 -0700
 OS/Arch:  linux/amd64
```

`docker info`:
```
Containers: 16
 Running: 0
 Paused: 0
 Stopped: 16
Images: 15
Server Version: 1.10.3
Storage Driver: aufs
 Root Dir: /var/lib/docker/aufs
 Backing Filesystem: extfs
 Dirs: 68
 Dirperm1 Supported: true
Execution Driver: native-0.2
Logging Driver: json-file
Plugins:
 Volume: local
 Network: host bridge null
Kernel Version: 4.4.0-22-generic
Operating System: Ubuntu 16.04 LTS
OSType: linux
Architecture: x86_64
CPUs: 1
Total Memory: 3.359 GiB
Name: master
ID: KSVP:ECEP:LOQS:3YWO:WBWU:PSK4:5TGO:FSSS:2WYA:6RZM:OVJV:CCS6
WARNING: No swap limit support
```

This is on an Ubuntu 16.04 VM in Azure.

**Steps to reproduce the issue:**
1. Use kubelet with cbr0 mode
2. Start some containers
3. Kill those containers

**Describe the results you received:**
Docker seems to fail to stop the containers. Next in the logs is something
indicating that `docker` sent SIGTERM to `systemd-journald`:

```
May 29 22:13:57 master systemd-journald[64414]: Journal stopped
May 29 22:13:57 master systemd-journald[2398]: Runtime journal
(/run/log/journal/) is 34.4M, max 34.3M, 0B free.
May 29 22:13:57 master systemd-journald[64414]: Received SIGTERM from PID 943
(docker).
```

**Additional information you deem important (e.g. issue happens only
occasionally):**

* [This is `sudo journalctl -f | tee journal.log` right before I deleted the
containers](https://gist.githubusercontent.com/anonymous/fe72ad251ad5c6ffa2b5de1d35266def/raw/18d4b65f93fa3b3e0761fb1db4a378ef7d8f2fe6/journal.log).
 The output stops whenever things go south... so you can correlate with
* [The full log

2016-05-29 Thread Pablo Estigarribia
I have found more information on:
http://nagios.fm4dd.com/howto/manual/pnp4n_send_service_mail.htm

Seems that it's recommended to have enable_environment_macros=0 option
to avoid inestability with check-mk-livestatus

[Bug 1586835] Re: ssh-agent fighting gnome-keyring on Ubuntu Gnome 16.04

2016-05-29 Thread Jean-Pierre Rupp
I have located a way to disable ssh-agent by commenting out the use-ssh-
agent line from file "/etc/X11/Xsession.options". But even after doing
this it is not guaranteed that the $SSH_AUTH_SOCK variable will be set
when I open a new terminal, even while doing so several minutes after I
have logged into my GNOME session, presumably when all session programs
are running. Sometimes I open a terminal and see that $SSH_AUTH_SOCK is
set, then close it and open a new one a few minutes later, and there is
no $SSH_AUTH_SOCK anymore.

[Bug 1533631] Re: dhclient killed when DHCPv6 lease is out-of date

2016-05-29 Thread Jason C Daniels
I'm getting DOS'd about 20 times a day as a result of this issue.

Could a "band-aid" shell script be whipped up by anyone in the know, to
physically purge the expired lease files periodically, and posted here?

I would gladly set such a script to run as a "cleanup service" or even
run it manually, while the proper fix is implemented.

Thanks,
Jason

[Bug 1576386] Re: vlc system package can be broken by source installation

2016-05-29 Thread Karl-Philipp Richter
> Well, yes, that's the purpose of /usr/local.
It's just an installation prefix of many possible. Installations into
`/usr/local` should provide files for binaries of that prefix and installations
into `/usr` (source installation or packages) should provide files for binaries
in that prefix. There's no reason why an installation into `/usr/local` is
breaking something and that's the reason why so many programs don't have any
trouble with source installations in `/usr/local` and binary packages installed
into `/usr`.

If you don't support it or don't have the resources to support it's good
not great.

[Bug 1540157] Re: Xenial: Mouse pointer disappears after release upgrade

Agreed, this is not invalid -- I just experienced this same problem
after upgrade to Lubuntu Xenial from Wily, and although intermittent, it
is very real. Logging out seems to solve the issue, at least
temporarily.

[Bug 1433906] Re: Acer, Inc ID 5986:055a is useless after 14.04.2 installed.

2016-05-29 Thread Henrik Ingo
Thanks Brad :-) Maybe a little encouragement was all I needed, because a
new patch was now sent to the mailing list:

https://sourceforge.net/p/linux-uvc/mailman/message/35123087/
Commentary: https://sourceforge.net/p/linux-uvc/mailman/message/35123103/

In short, Laurent (the module maintainer) pretty much rewrote the patch
in his preferred way as part of the review, and his proposals do work,
and current version is pretty much what he suggested. So I'm optimistic
for this patch's future.

[Bug 1574079] Re: USB audio device is not recognized after startup in 16.04

2016-05-29 Thread Taras
Hi Richard, I'm glad you have paid attention to this problem.
A few weeks ago I've upgraded my Ubuntu version from 14.04 to 16.04 and faced
with this issue. Now every time before connecting my USB sound-card I have to
kill the 'fwupd' process.
Here is output from the 'dfu-tool list' command:

 - When 'fwupd' is running:
Found 1397:0501 [v1.0]:
  Status: cannot get device state: transfer failed

 - After killing 'fwupd' and replugging sound-card:
Found 1397:0501 [v1.0]:
 Mode:  runtime
 Status:OK
 State: appIDLE
 ID:0
  Cipher:   none
  Region 0x00:  Zone:0, Sec#:0, Addr:0x, Size:0x, Caps:0x3

The 'fwupd' process itself using 1.2 - 1.8 % of CPU (model name: Intel(R)
Core(TM) i3 CPU M370  @2.40GHz).
Also please check the attachments: lsusb (with connected working/not-working
sound-card) and fwupd verbose output (started with working
sound-card/connecting sound-card when 'fwupd' running) diffs. Hope this will
help.

[Bug 1586841] [NEW] Fitt's law issues when Unity dock at bottom of screen

2016-05-29 Thread hazylazysusan
Public bug reported:

Fitt's law issues when Unity dock at bottom of screen:

1-Moving cursor to the bottom left corner to try to activate the Ubuntu
button does not do anything - same with moving the cursor to the left of
the Ubuntu button - nothing happens - violates Fitt's law

2-after pressing the Ubuntu button, the 'X' to get out of the search
screen does not have infinite height at the top left corner of the
screen - I note it does seem to when the dock is at the left of the
screen - but when at the bottom it doesn't - violates Fitt's law

This is with the 16.04 1live cd only. I don't know if the packages were
updated to be fixed later.

Re[2]: [Bug 1584302] Re: New install of Lazarus - Cant load without many .lpk errors

2016-05-29 Thread wallace
Hi Paul

Posted on Linux Mint Forum:-

Hi I have just installed Lazarus. After the Lazarus install, the compiler
could not find the fpc files. After many hours of we searching and forum
chats, Paul from bug.launchpad.net came to the rescue and the problem was that
the lcl component was not included in the install.

Can this be be fixed please.

On a similar note, the install package options are very confusing. Nowhere
does it say "This is the main package which must be installed first". These
are optional packages that belong to the program . As a first time user to
Linux, this is very annoying.

**

Thanks for your help.

The GUI that Linux uses is Mate.

Cheers Wallace

[Bug 1586838] [NEW] bcache causes a kernel bug when adding a new cache device

2016-05-29 Thread Jacky Wang
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 16.04 on virtualbox 5.0.20. VirtualBoxAddition is installed.

The issue happens on both out-of-box 4.4.0 kernel and the later-
installed 4.4.11 kernel. 100% re-producible. The same issue applies to
both virtual hard drive (/dev/sdb) and file-base block device
(/dev/loop2) I created within Ubuntu.

$ sudo make-bcache -C /dev/sdb

The error shows (through dmesg):
