[Bug 1589288] Re: python3.4 package missing threading module in trusty-security
** Description changed: Someone forgot to add threading.py module in libpython3.4-mininal_3.4.0-2ubuntu1.1 package. I fail when trying to work with python3.4 in trusty-security environment. How to reproduce: 1. Install new Ubuntu Trusty WITHOUT online updates or downgrade all packages to trusty-security. 2. Disable *-updates repositories, update apt cache: # sed -i -e'/-updates/s/^/# /' /etc/apt/sources.list && apt-get update 3. Upgrade python3 packages: # apt-get install python3 python3-minimal python3.4 python3.4-minimal libpython3.4-minimal libpython3.4-stdlib 4. Try to import threading module (will fail): # python3 -c 'import threading' Traceback (most recent call last): File "", line 1, in ImportError: No module named 'threading' Without threading.py `pip3 install` and `add-apt-repository` will fail. Extended terminal output (including apt-cache policy) is in python3.4_trusty_bug_terminal_output.txt . This problem has occured in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/python3.4/+bug/1503382/comments/4 , but hasn't been articulated or resolved. I compared packages in security and updates and found significant differencies: 1. [debian/pymindeps.py] subprocess key in excluded_imports is threading in security and dummy_threading in updates. 2. [debian/PVER-minimal.README.Debian.in] Information about threading module differs. - I make patch libpython3.4-minimal_3.4.0-2ubuntu1.1custompatch1.patch and + I made patch libpython3.4-minimal_3.4.0-2ubuntu1.1custompatch1.patch and applied to python3.4_3.4.0-2ubuntu1.1 . The result is available in https://launchpad.net/~bugchecker/+archive/ubuntu/python3-threading- trusty-sec . This patch may be incorrect but it works for me. Also I attached docker context for any experiments. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1589288 Title: python3.4 package missing threading module in trusty-security To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/python3.4/+bug/1589288/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Unknown header type 7f Kernel driver in use: amdgpu Kernel modules: amdgpu In order to use the discrete GPU, in Xenial you can prefix any command with `DRI_PRIME=1`. However, with this device, doing this crashes the device. I tried installing a backported kernel that Alberto provided [2] and even though the computer does not crash anymore, it still won't show anything (but the process launched will take 100% of the CPU and cannot be stopped nor killed, it looks...). I tried with the following commands: glxinfo glxgears DRI_PRIME=1 glxinfo DRI_PRIME=1 glxgears Once, I managed to get some output from the `glxinfo` command, with and without `DRI_PRIME=1` prefix: $ glxinfo | grep -i "opengl" OpenGL vendor string: X.Org OpenGL renderer string: Gallium 0.4 on AMD KAVERI (DRM 2.43.0, LLVM 3.8.0) OpenGL core profile version string: 4.1 (Core Profile) Mesa 11.2.0 OpenGL core profile shading language version string: 4.10 OpenGL core profile context flags: (none) OpenGL core profile profile mask: core profile OpenGL core profile extensions: OpenGL version string: 3.0 Mesa 11.2.0 OpenGL shading language version string: 1.30 OpenGL context flags: (none) OpenGL extensions: OpenGL ES profile version string: OpenGL ES 3.0 Mesa 11.2.0 OpenGL ES profile shading language version string: OpenGL ES GLSL ES 3.00 OpenGL ES profile extensions: $ DRI_PRIME=1 glxinfo | grep -i "opengl" OpenGL vendor string: X.Org OpenGL renderer string: Gallium 0.4 on AMD ICELAND (DRM 3.1.0, LLVM 3.8.0) OpenGL core profile version string: 4.1 (Core Profile) Mesa 11.2.0 OpenGL core profile shading language version string: 4.10 OpenGL core profile context flags: (none) OpenGL core profile profile mask: core profile OpenGL core profile extensions: OpenGL version string: 3.0 Mesa 11.2.0 OpenGL shading language version string: 1.30 OpenGL context flags: (none) OpenGL extensions: OpenGL ES profile version string: OpenGL ES 3.0 Mesa 11.2.0 OpenGL ES profile shading language version string: OpenGL ES GLSL ES 3.00 OpenGL ES profile extensions: So it looks like the discrete GPU is used, but so far I couldn't really use it to run anything 3D-demanding. [Bug 1589331] Re: USB Mouse randomly adds another press and release click
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1589331/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package. [Bug 1589336] Re: version incompatabilities
Further research verifies this. As discussed in https://bugs.debian.org/805751 in combination with the changelog, it would appear that any version 0.15.0 and later cannot talk to one that is prior. The Debian maintainer failed to document this properly, even if he eventually added python-rencode to Depends. There's a number of strange behaviors I observe, e.g. screen flickering, networking issues, but I don't know if these can be attributed to this specific kernel issue. [Bug 1586814] Re: The touchpad of the netbook does not work
yevgenych, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. In order to allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue, at your earliest convenience, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/?C=N;O=D ? Please keep in mind the following: 1) The one to test is at the very top line at the top of the page (not the daily folder). 2) The release names are irrelevant. 3) The folder time stamps aren't indicative of when the kernel actually was released upstream. 4) Install instructions are available at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds . If testing on your main install would be inconvenient, one may: 1) Install Ubuntu to a different partition and then test this there. 2) Backup, or clone the primary install. Where is your Fix Release ? I don't see anything. I believe in my Xenial 16.04 I have just fixed the error messages I got for caffeine and caffeine-indicator: For /usr/bin/caffeine at the beginning of file in the import section I did add an import gi followed by a require_version i.e. import gi gi.require_version('Gtk', '3.0') import pkg_resources from gi.repository import GObject, Gtk, GLib For /usr/bin/caffeine-indicator idem import gi gi.require_version('Gtk', '3.0') gi.require_version('AppIndicator3', '0.1') import pkg_resources from gi.repository import GLib, Gtk, GObject, AppIndicator3 Now when launched by a Terminal cmd. line there is no warnings / no errors. If the mainline kernel does not fix the issue, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-X.Y-rcZ Please note, an error to install the kernel does not fit the criteria of kernel-bug-exists-upstream. Also, you don't need to apport-collect further unless specifically requested to do so. Once testing of the latest upstream kernel is complete, please mark this report Status Confirmed. Please let us know your results. [Bug 1585598] Re: steady decrease in available memory (RAM) under 16.04
Christopher Barrington-Leigh, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. If the latest kernel did not allow you to test to the issue (ex. you couldn't boot into the OS) please make a comment in your report about this, and continue to test the next most recent kernel version until you can test to the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this issue is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon, next to the word Tags, located at the bottom of the report description: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-X.Y-rcZ Where X, and Y are the first two numbers of the kernel version, and Z is the release candidate number if it exists.
