[Bug 1295267] Re: Windows change Monitor/Desktop after screen lock

2016-06-09 Thread David Klasinc
This is driving me crazy. :/ What we need, in a nutshell, is this:

- window is moved/resized/changed: save desktop state
- screen is put to sleep: save desktop state and disable WM events
- screen wakes up: restore desktop to what it was, if screens are missing, put
all windows on 1st workspace of the primary screen
- if screen is disconnected: save desktop state, move out of bounds windows to
1st workspace of the primary screen
- if screen is connected again: restore desktop state if no WM events occurred
while screen was missing

If WM events are suspended a moment before screens are turned off/to
stand-by/to sleep/low power mode/... and desktop state is saved, then no
re-arrangement would occur.

I also noticed that having a window on my secondary screen and issuing a
'Move To Workspace' by right clicking on a title bar, will always send
the window to my primary screen. Which is also slightly annoying.

[Bug 1590974] Re: package mariadb-common 10.0.25-0ubuntu0.16.04.1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 2

2016-06-09 Thread Otto Kekäläinen
The dpkg terminal seems to have said:
Processing triggers for menu (2.1.47ubuntu1) ...
Setting up mariadb-common (10.0.25-0ubuntu0.16.04.1) ...
update-alternatives: error: alternative path /etc/mysql/mariadb.cnf doesn't
exist

What was the previous MariaDB version you upgraded from? What does your
/etc/mysql contents look like? Why was the failed file not found in
/etc/mysql, have you manually deleted it?

Please provide more information. Try to debug yourself so that the basic
information would be available in this bug report.

2016-06-09 Thread Tomas Cassidy
Public bug reported:

What goes wrong:

When a terminal window is maximized, clicking the "return" button in the

2. Click "maximize" buttton in title bar (square button) to maximize the window
to fullscreen.
3. Click the "return" button in title bar (rectangle button) to return the

[Bug 1591056] [NEW] snapcraft clean doesn't remove the bin/ directory

2016-06-09 Thread Didier Roche
Public bug reported:

snapcraft clean doesn't remove the bin/ directory from this part.

$ snapcraft clean gnu-bash

happens consistently.

[Bug 736743] Re: environment block not implemented on btrfs

Not really. The issue is still present on trusty.

If your /boot is a btrfs, grub2 does not know how to save its env.

In order to reproduce:

While on grub menu, press c
Type: save_env xxx

Disabling GRUB_SAVEDEFAULT just disables the feature that needs
save_env. It is not a fix.

[Bug 1591043] [NEW] xubuntu 16.04 on the haswell platform random restart

2016-06-09 Thread zhangyang
Public bug reported:

Recently,I am use the xubuntu 16.04 on the haswell platform.I found my
haswell's device random restart, when log in the xubuntu about 10
minutes, but it doesn't happen every time.

The random reboot is similar to use the watchdog(directly power off and
then automatically power on ).

Now,I can't find any message about this issue.

Any help will be grateful.

[Bug 1454668] Re: Failed to upgrade/reinstall libreoffice-common

2016-06-09 Thread Allan Dyer
Workaround:
I've found it is not necessary to uninstall Sophos Anti-virus, just disabling
the on-access scanning is enough:

/opt/sophos-av/bin/savdctl disable
apt-get upgrade
/opt/sophos-av/bin/savdctl enable

and re-enable it afterwards, so you still have the AV protection the rest of
the time.
Thanks to John Correa - his post reminded me I should add this note.

[Bug 1589401] Re: cannot view wifi networks after re-enabling wifi

2016-06-09 Thread Henry J. Douglas
I'm being disconnected after leaving the computer idle for a minute or
so. However, while downloading a large file or playing an online game,
for example, the connection goes on and never quits. As soon as the
downloads finish... it's gone. Network-Manager shows connected, but
ownCloud sync stops, can't connect to websites or check for updates. To
bring it back, I must reconnect to my AP. It's pretty annoying when
combined with the suspend issue. Very bad bug. Hope this gets solved or
I'll have to use Windows 10... and that's a game over.

[Bug 1591010] Re: two s390x fixes for docker

2016-06-09 Thread Michael Hudson-Doyle
** Description changed:

  [Impact]
  As explained in
https://github.com/golang/go/issues/16021#issuecomment-225029684, the s390x
port for Go contains two bugs that prevent docker from operating correctly.

  [Test Case]
- Simply run "docker run s390x/ubuntu:16.04 echo hi" -- in the failing case
this will hang on exit and containerd will be observed to use 100% cpu.
+ Build the docker, containerd and runc source packages from yakkety, install
them "docker run s390x/ubuntu:16.04 echo hi" -- in the failing case this will
hang on exit and containerd will be observed to use 100% cpu.
+
+ [Regression potential]
+ Slight. I believe the Go point releases meet the guidelines described at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates#New_upstream_microreleases.

Isn't that the entire point of introducing the XS-Build-Indep-

supports it now...

[Bug 1590679] Re: Apps can't own session bus names (unity7 interface)

2016-06-09 Thread Jamie Strandboge
@Gustavo, if we are moving towards a separate interface and forcing a
declaration via attributes, I'd prefer introducing that interface now
with default to anything because if we add it to unity7, we can't remove
it once apps start using it without breaking apps. With the new
interface with defaults to any name, we can transition to using
attributes by having store reviews force use of the attributes and
manual review when using defaults for new uploads-- but the interface
still supports the default for old uploads so nothing breaks.

So it's really unclear to me what's the actual problem, but I got a fix
for the situation that I've tested on a mako here.

[Bug 1551150] Re: devel-proposed - android lxc container fails to start

2016-06-09 Thread Stéphane Graber
Basically it looks like that "something" doesn't like the cgroups being
mounted on the phone. Immediately after udev starts, every process gets
a SIGKILL and the phone goes down.

We do need the cgroups filesystems to be mounted for LXC to be happy
though, but we don't need them visible after that (since cgmanager is
running anyway).

So my workaround is to tweak lxc-android-config.conf a bit, first to
make it start the container in the background which lets us get useful
debug output in the upstart log should it fail again, second, shuffle
the cgroup init code a bit in there (based on what I pasted in this bug
before) and then adding a bit of code which unmounts all the cgroup
filesystems right before emitting the android event.

New lxc-android-config.conf is attached. Tested on clean mako using
ubuntu-touch/devel-proposed channel.

Re: [Bug 1586417] Re: Ubuntu 16.04 Desktop kworker/1:0 and systemd-timesync use 100% CPU, system very slow

2016-06-09 Thread James
Sorry about the "ubuntu-bug" filing. I simply googled "report Ubuntu
bug" and Google sent me straight to the Launchpad method, so I assumed
that was the correct way to do it. If there is a better/preferred way it
certainly doesn't seem clear when searching online.

Attached are dmesg and journal as requested, run with the nvidia card,
which leads to the frequent GUI lockups and systemd-timesync 100% CPU loads

I have also conducted one more experiment where I removed the graphics
card and used the motherboard's onboard Intel graphics instead. That has
run stable with no lockups for two days, so it seems not to be affected
by the same problem. It may somehow be linked to the nvidia graphics,
whether run under nouveu or the proprietary driver. I also tried an
older Nvidia card (GV-N240D3-1GI, slightly fancy in its day, big cooling
fan) and had the same issues as with the newer one.

I am also attaching for your reference dmesg and journal when it's
running on the onboard intel graphics, in case comparing the two is
helpful. The onboard graphics seem pretty stable; the only odd artifact
I sometimes get is the screen going black for about half a second to one
second (for no reason I can readily ascertain) and then going back to
totally normal as though nothing had happened. In terms of impact this
minor niggle is easy to live with - certainly a lot easier than total
GUI lockup every few hours. The "brief black screen" episodes happen
every few hours as far as I can tell.

Unlike doing 'dmesg > filename.txt' , if I look in the logs directory,
'cat /var/log/dmesg' shows a very empty file - just one line saying
"(Nothing has been logged yet.)"

[Bug 1442105] Re: GPS not working on my BQ Ubuntu Touch

2016-06-09 Thread Joan CiberSheep
Same behaviour here with bq Aquaris m10 (tablet). With wifi and GPS on doesn't
find position (Here, OSMScout, uNav).
Since the tablet has no 3g it makes impossible to use offline driving
directions.

Tried app Location Test with no results. I thought GPS might be broken
so I did a system check (rebooting into tablet's checking system mode)
and GPS seams to work fine but not in Ubuntu.

[Bug 1448485] Re: [Compaq Presario CQ60-300EO Notebook PC] kernel doesn't recognize backlight fn keys

2016-06-09 Thread Tina Russell
I'm also getting this problem on my Compaq Presario CQ60. Fn+F7/Fn+F8
don't work to set brightness (though other Fn keycodes generally work),
and in fact I can't seem to find anything to set any value of brightness
at all, and the computer seems to be stuck on the setting of "blindingly
bright." /sys/class/backlight is empty, and the Xorg log doesn't mention
"video" or "light" at all (other than in reporting the "acpi_backlight"
kernel setting I tried; it didn't work). I'm using Ubuntu MATE 16.04.
I'm... not sure how to post my specs, so I'm attaching a HardInfo report
in case it helps :) Let me know if you need any more information, I'd
love to see this bug fixed! (My eyes will thank you!)

it's unclear to me why this shows up as a failure to load the driver

[Bug 1590740] Re: grub-pc, grub2 doesn't check /dev/disk/by-id or "by-path" for zfs zpool

2016-06-09 Thread brian mullan
Just heard from a Reddit zfs thread inquery I made that the fix for grub
& zfs is aleady in 16.10 & will make it into 16.04 in perhaps a month..

The fix is being tracked with this bug:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/xenial/+source/grub2/+bug/1527727

So my bug report can be closed.

[Bug 1591021] [NEW] upgrading docker does not restart daemon

2016-06-09 Thread Michael Hudson-Doyle
Public bug reported:

Upgrading docker does not restart the daemon. This seems entirely
intentional (see
http://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/docker/docker.io.git/commit/debian/rules?h=ubuntu&id=777987c5b7b25b88a2b9be40c512cfc805c65ffa)
but is a bit confusing.

I guess the issue is that restarting the daemon may affect containers
that are already running?

[Bug 1574904] Re: Docker compiled with wrong version of Go

2016-06-09 Thread Michael Hudson-Doyle
Hey, thanks for testing. I've reported the two issues you mention as
separate bugs
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/docker.io/+bug/1591021 and
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/docker.io/+bug/1591023, happy
to continue conversations there. I'll be asked you to do verification of
the packages when they get to xenial-proposed I expect!

[Bug 1585942] Re: Mesa causes a segmentation fault on arm64 (wrong count of uniform locations)

2016-06-09 Thread Steve Langasek
Rebuilding mesa with llvmpipe enabled on arm64, I'm able to get this
test to pass as:

LIBGL_DRIVERS_PATH=../mesa-11.2.1/debian/libgl1-mesa-dri/usr/lib/aarch64
-linux-gnu/dri/ xvfb-run -a -s "-screen 0 640x480x24" ./obj-
qt5/bin/quickinspectortest

Not sure what negative impact there might be from enabling llvmpipe or
arm64... that it works at all seems like a good sign to me.

Re: [Bug 1584348] Launcher thinking app is running still when it'sdead

2016-06-09 Thread Thomas Meyssonnier
Thanks for the explanation, it sound quite right.
However, the combination of the two makes things worse, and it's probably
what makes me react.
I guess I'm going to check the current bugs for Dekko as soon as I have the
time, seeing as it seems to be the real problem in my case.

Thanks, keep up the good work !

[Bug 1591010] [NEW] two s390x fixes for docker

2016-06-09 Thread Michael Hudson-Doyle
Public bug reported:

[Impact]
As explained in
https://github.com/golang/go/issues/16021#issuecomment-225029684, the s390x
port for Go contains two bugs that prevent docker from operating correctly.

[Test Case]
Simply run "docker run s390x/ubuntu:16.04 echo hi" -- in the failing case this
will hang on exit and containerd will be observed to use 100% cpu.

[Bug 1585942] Re: Mesa causes a segmentation fault on arm64 (wrong count of uniform locations)

Since this is a crash in the swrast driver, it's worth noting that mesa
is built with llvmpipe on armhf but not on arm64. This may account for
why the bug manifests on arm64+gles but not on armhf+gles.
