[Bug 1595803] [NEW] [i915_bpo][SKL] Display core init/uninit updates

2016-06-23 Thread Shrirang Bagul
Public bug reported:

At the moment, our i915_bpo driver on Vivid (kernel version:
Ubuntu-3.19.0-62.70) lacks certain patches which fix the display core
init/uninit sequence esp. handling dmc firmware loading and runtime-pm.
Following patches from v4.5-rc1 address these issues on SKL.

* e8ca932 drm/i915: Extract a intel_power_well_enable() function
* dcddab3 drm/i915: Extract a intel_power_well_disable() function
* 0a9d2be drm/i915/skl: Making DC6 entry is the last call in suspend flow.
* 18a04a7 drm/i915: Kill intel_runtime_pm_disable()
* ebae38d drm/i915/gen9: csr_init after runtime pm enable
* 01a6908 drm/i915: use correct power domain for csr loading
* bffbcd9 drm/i915/gen9: Don't try to load garbage dmc firmware on resume
* ca1283d drm/i915/skl: Removed assert for csr-fw-loading check during
disabling dc6
* 56fcfd6 drm/i915: fix the power well ID for always on wells
* fc17f22 drm/i915: fix lookup_power_well for power wells without any domain
* 2f693e2 drm/i915: Make turning on/off PW1 and Misc I/O part of the init/fini
sequences

These patches also fix OEM bug related to audio not working after
suspend by close/open lid.

[Bug 1582340] Re: [SRU] Sync drupal7 7.43-3 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

2016-06-23 Thread Jeremy Bicha
drupal7 needs to depends on php-xml (bug 1595788)
In Debian testing and yakkety, php7.0 depends on libapache2-mod-php7.0 (and
with this installed, the installer works).

More precisely:
16.04: php7.0 depends on php7.0-fpm | libapache2-mod-php7.0
16.10: php7.0 depends on libapache2-mod-php7.0 | php7.0-fpm

For the purposes of this SRU, should we have drupal7 depend on
libapache2-mod-php7.0...or, because I believe we should probably do it
anyway, do an SRU for php7 to have that dependency added there?

Either way, I propose we replace this SRU with a new backport from
yakkety of 7.44-1 and the php-xml dependency.

[Bug 1569674] Re: [Kubuntu] Fail to connect to wifi after a recent update

2016-06-23 Thread Avishay
I tried switching back to network-manager (was using WICD until now) and I
still can't connect to wifi.
Can anyone walk me through the steps needed to get it work?
I tried updating it with
sudo apt-get install python-networkmanager libkf5networkmanagerqt-dev
libkf5networkmanagerqt6
but I don't see any wifi networks in the network manager widget. Its UI is
broken (see "broken_widget") but after I click the left button that supposedly
enables wifi and click the scan button I get "Failed to request scan" error

[Bug 1577957] Re: Intel 7265D wifi firmware crashes on a Lenovo x1 carbon (3rd generation)

2016-06-23 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
mich...@hinespot.com, would the firmware found via https://www-
ssl.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/network-and-i-o/wireless-
networking/05511.html provide better results than iwlwifi-
7265D-21.ucode?

This will help determine the earliest version of the firmware where this
issue started to occur.

[Bug 1594214] Re: ETPS/2 Elantech Touchpad inconsistently detected (Gigabyte P57W laptop)

2016-06-23 Thread @pjf
@penalvch: I would *love* to run `apport-collect`, but doing so causes
my entire system to lock-up. So does running `lspci` more than 80% of
the time, which will be a tale for another bug report.

Using skylake hardware is proving to be a real adventure. :/

Is there a way to run apport-collect and choose what information it
gathers, so I can restrict it to non-crashy commands only? I'm not yet
on a 4.6 kernel (which apparently has much better skylake support), and
4.4 seems to require a gentle touch.

[Bug 1595788] [NEW] drupal7 needs dependency on php-xml

2016-06-23 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Public bug reported:

What happens

$ sudo apt install drupal7
(on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS currently, you'll also need to sudo apt install
libapache2-mod-php
$ sudo a2enconf drupal7
Enabling conf drupal7.
To activate the new configuration, you need to run:
  service apache2 reload
$ sudo systemctl reload apache2

Open your webbrowser to http://localhost/drupal/install.php

The installer complains that it needs the php xml extensions. See
attached screenshot.

What works
==
$ sudo apt install php-xml
$ sudo systemctl reload apache2

What's needed
=
drupal7 should depend on php-xml

drupal7 7.44-1 on Ubuntu 16.10 (yakkety) and
drupal7 7.43-3~16.04.0 on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS from xenial-proposed

[Bug 1594214] Re: ETPS/2 Elantech Touchpad inconsistently detected (Gigabyte P57W laptop)

2016-06-23 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
@pjf, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better.

Please execute the following command only once, as it will automatically gather
debugging information, in a terminal:
apport-collect 1594214

** Description changed:

- On my Gigabyte P57W laptop (and possibly others, see:
- https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1526393 ) my ETPS/2
- Elantech touchpad is inconsistently detected at boot. Sometimes it's
- there, sometimes it's not, and I'm not sure of the circumstances which
- cause it to be detected or not. I'm on a 4.4 kernel, but trying a
- mainline 4.6 kernel did not help.
+ On my Gigabyte P57W laptop the ETPS/2 Elantech touchpad is
+ inconsistently detected at boot. Trying mainline 4.6 kernel did not
+ help.

- Luckily, after trawling the internet (
- http://askubuntu.com/questions/636350/elantech-touchpad-not-detected-
- anymore-on-ubuntu-15 ) I found that adding `i8042.kbdreset=1` to
- `GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT` in /etc/default/grub resolves the problem.
+ WORKAROUND: Add kernel boot parameter:
+ i8042.kbdreset=1

- The device is id=17 on xinput below. I *would* be running `lspci`, but
- my hardware is new enough that causes my machine to hang sometimes, but
- that's another bug...

[Bug 1548850] Re: Suspend-Resume freezes the computer completely

2016-06-23 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
flrtx, in order to allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue,
at your earliest convenience, could you please test the latest upstream kernel
available from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/?C=N;O=D ? Please
keep in mind the following:
1) The one to test is at the very top line at the top of the page (not the
daily folder).
2) The release names are irrelevant.
3) The folder time stamps aren't indicative of when the kernel actually was
released upstream.
4) Install instructions are available at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds .

If testing on your main install would be inconvenient, one may:
1) Install Ubuntu to a different partition and then test this there.
2) Backup, or clone the primary install.

If the latest kernel did not allow you to test to the issue (ex. you couldn't
boot into the OS) please make a comment in your report about this, and continue
to test the next most recent kernel version until you can test to the issue.
Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version
specifically you tested. If this issue is fixed in the mainline kernel, please
add the following tags by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil
icon, next to the word Tags, located at the bottom of the report description:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-X.Y-rcZ

Where X, and Y are the first two numbers of the kernel version, and Z is
the release candidate number if it exists.

If the mainline kernel does not fix the issue, please add the following tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream
kernel-bug-exists-upstream-X.Y-rcZ

Please note, an error to install the kernel does not fit the criteria of
kernel-bug-exists-upstream.

Also, you don't need to apport-collect further unless specifically
requested to do so.

Once testing of the latest upstream kernel is complete, please mark this
report Status Confirmed. Please let us know your results.

Thank you for your understanding.

This shouldn't be too far away, just waiting for it to be updated in
Debian first, so we can merge.

If you want to use it right now and you are using yakkety, you can use
the Ubuntu Audio Dev pulse testing PPA ppa:ubuntu-audio-dev/pulse-
testing.

[Bug 1553563] Re: bconsole to Bacula Director fails with authorization problem message

2016-06-23 Thread Nish Aravamudan
@Kern,

To clarify, this change:

export DEB_LDFLAGS_MAINT_STRIP = -Wl,-Bsymbolic-functions

  [-Bsymbolic is not passed to the build currently, so omitted in my
changes]

has nothing to do with stripping of binaries. It 'strips' the requested
LDFLAGS out of the DEBUILD_LDFLAGS (aiui, not much documentation of it).
So it seems that the Bacula build can't handle this option to ld:

   -Bsymbolic-functions
   When creating a shared library, bind references to global function
   symbols to the definition within the shared library, if any. This
   option can also be used with the --export-dynamic option, when
   creating a position independent executable, to bind references to
   global function symbols to the definition within the executable.
   This option is only meaningful on ELF platforms which support
   shared libraries and position independent executables.

Given Hiroaki's excellent analysis here and in Bug 1570923, I think this
relates to the use of a same-named function in a library that is linked
to? Maybe if we also passed --export-dynamic, it would also work, I'm
not 100%. I'd like to understand the exact issue better before
suggesting we SRU that change.
