[Bug 1568604] Re: Mouse cursor lost when unlocking with Intel graphics

2016-07-09 Thread Mario Steele
To me, what it seems to be the problem, is that Lock Screens, and Login
systems, such as GDM, or LightDM, or Pantheon's is utilizing VTs to
display Login, and switch between users / lock screen and log back in.
Which seems to be solved by resetting the Virtual Terminal, either
through a chvt between 1 and 7, or bringing up / having a terminal open,
and issuing some command that causes a line reset to which the Mouse
Cursor is allowed to be displayed again. That's what it seems to me
anyways.

[Bug 1568604] Re: Mouse cursor lost when unlocking with Intel graphics

2016-07-09 Thread Grorco
I'm running 16.04 on a HP envy 17t I only have the problem if I lock the
screen, then hit switch user after that logging back in will cause mouse
to disappear. I can get it back quickly by ctrl+alt+t to get a terminal
and typing sudo then hitting the enter key.

[Bug 1600555] [NEW] Postfix Admin depends strictly on pg-client or mysql-client with no option for mariadb-client

2016-07-09 Thread Luke
Public bug reported:

The dependencies on the Postfix Admin package should be updated to
require postgresql-client OR mysql-client OR mariadb-client. Currently
the package requires either postgresql-client OR mysql-client. As
mariadb-client is a drop-in replacement there is no reason to require
mysql (also a single system cannot have both mariadb and mysql, use of
one precludes use of the other).

** Affects: postfixadmin (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

** Package changed: apt (Ubuntu) => postfixadmin (Ubuntu)

[Bug 1477855] Re: Add alternative shutter methods

2016-07-09 Thread Daniel
This function should not be label as a wish, it should already be integrated.
It has been a part of iOS since forever (don't know about Android) and it is
extremely useful.
On large phones (like Meizu MX4, Pro 5 and others) you can drop your phone if
you try to take a picture with one hand.

[Bug 1587913] Re: Ubuntu 16.04 Two finger scrolling/multitouch not working

2016-07-09 Thread burabure
Similar issue on an Asus UX501VW, using ubuntu 16.04 kernel 4.6.3.
Touchpad is detected as "FTE1001:00 0B05:0101" (FocalTech maybe?) basic
pointing capabilities work, but its not detected as a touchpad, no
synaptycs drivers loaded, no multitouch gestures, no palm rejection
(which is driving me crazy). No further issues after suspend.

Should I open a new Issue?

Onlycparra, what layout switching hotkey are you using? (click on the
keyboard layout icon in the top right bar --> "Text Entry Settings...")
I've been using Super+Space to switch to next layout and Alt+Super+Space
to the previous, and cannot currently reproduce the issue.

2016-07-09 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
RD, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better.

While booted into a Ubuntu release that is working for you, could you please
run the following command once from a terminal by ensuring you have the package
xdiagnose installed, and that you click the Yes button for attaching additional
debugging information:
apport-collect -p xorg 1599952

When reporting xorg related bugs in the future, please do so via the
above method. You can learn more about this functionality at

[Bug 1598894] Re: system freezing

2016-07-09 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Ahmad Abdulnasir Shu'aib, thank you for reporting this and helping make
Ubuntu better.

As per http://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers an update to your
computer's buggy, insecure, and outdated BIOS is available (2.14). When
you update to this following
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate how does this improve the
situation?

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette
.

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful.

Also, you don't have to create a new bug report.

Once the BIOS is updated, if the problem is still reproducible:
1) Please provide the output of the following terminal command (not perform an
apport-collect):
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date
2) Please make a comment specifically advising on if there was an improvement
or not.
3) Please mark this report Status Confirmed.

If it's not reproducible, please mark this as Invalid.

Thank you for your help.

[Bug 1553427] Re: [LENOVO S10-3] suspend/resume failure

2016-07-09 Thread Jonathan Duff
Thank you so much for following up! :)

Unfortunately, the client needed to have a computer so I no longer have
any access to the machine. Maybe someone else in the world has this
netbook and would be able to do testing.

Semi-work-around:
Using policies i disabled the use of suspend. It is now configured to turn off
the LCD display when the lid is closed but not suspend. Hopefully this will
help others.

Thank you all for your help and working the problem.
Sincerely,
Jonathan

[Bug 1190990] Re: Xfce4 mess up with icon positions

2016-07-09 Thread Christian
The files that are created in ~/.config/xfce4/desktop should contain the
resolution in the name and not the size of the workarea. At least for me almost
every time i rebooted the values of the workarea were a little bit different
and so the icons where all rearanged to the top left side.
I changed the source to use screen resolution for the filenames and now its
working for me.

[Bug 1598295] Re: $GTK_IM_MODULE ignored after upgrade

2016-07-09 Thread Constantine
Okay, so — in short — the problem was that the command `/usr/lib/x86_64
-linux-gnu/libgtk-3-0/gtk-query-immodules-3.0 --update-cache` wasn't run
upon distro upgrade. Actually, I'm not sure if it's a distro bug or not,
because in my case the distro-upgrade came not quite fine. I was having
a PPA with latest GCC, which I didn't purge — that looks right, why
would I care if I'm using a binary distro anyway? However, after upgrade
Xorg didn't even start; long story short — libstdc++, for some reason,
didn't have some function which some apps were using. Reinstalling to
vanilla libstdc++ solved the problem. I did even see a bug about it
somewhere, but can't find it. But I can assume that some apps for distro
upgrade failed to run because of the library — as the bug with
$GTK_IM_MODULE not the only problem I encountered here. I'm seeing
things like missing tray icons, ignored preview options in Dolphin,
crashing vlc, and more.

Thanks again for the info. I will try the DAO function and is that doesn't
work, it must be the burner. I've had it for years, but it's probably
crapping out. Thanks again.

Re: [Bug 1499556] Re: Computer Reboots Instead of Halting

2016-07-09 Thread Ed Novak
The problem seems to have gone away after I switched out my power supply
with a different one. I guess the bug is mobo, psu, and kernel dependent.

The old one was this: http://www.corsair.com/en-us/tx750w

The new one:

FYI, that indiactor-network branch requires the upcoming changes from
Tony's network-manager branch to build successfully (depends on a new
enum value).

[Bug 1492623] Re: Revision doesn't match upstream v2.0.2

2016-07-09 Thread Peter Jonas
Thanks,

Actually, I fixed it ;)

Tracking bugs by revision number works very well for upstream, and if
that interferes with Debian packaging then they would see that as
Debian's problem. In any case, I was given commit access to the Debian
repository recently, and made the fix in such a way that the revision
will be set automatically each time new upstream code gets imported via
uscan, so there is no chance of somebody forgetting to do it.

Unfortunately I haven't been given access to the Debian archive so I
can't upload the package into Debian, but hopefully the actual
maintainer will get around to doing it soon.

Peter

Wait I just realized you were the person who actually fixed it! Thanks.
What you've added was probably the best solution even if I still don't
like what upstream has done with this.

[Bug 1303736] Re: [SRU] Black screen after wakeup from suspending by closing the laptop lid

2016-07-09 Thread Piotr Admin
This solution works on my laptop (ubuntu 16.04, but should work on previous OS):
open as root file
/etc/UPower/UPower.conf
and change IgnoreLid=false ==> IgnoreLid=true
save changes, restart system and now it works :-)
You can remove light-locker now.

You can use bash for these:
sudo sed -i -e 's/IgnoreLid=false/IgnoreLid=true/g' /etc/UPower/UPower.conf
sudo apt-get remove --purge -y light-locker light-locker-settings
and restart system now

[Bug 1568341] Re: Boot hangs at: /scripts/local-premount/uswsusp

2016-07-09 Thread Apple J. Kiss
same thing here with Ubuntu Mate 16.04. just installed package
'hibernate' which i guess pulled in uswusp.

i didnt see this mentioned previously but if i wait out the script it
eventually returns:

resume: could not stat the resume device file '/dev/disk/by-uuid/(some
uuid hex)' please type in the full path name to try again or press
enter to boot the system:

so was able to get into the system eventually by pressing enter. this
happened to be when i had selected recovery mode in grub. but other
times the script never ended before i gave up and reset machine.
