Can you please provide links to the sources as well, just to do a quick diff
against the 4.5 working git?

Have we made further progress on bisect?

[Bug 1547770] Re: Vinagre / Remote Desktop Viewer won't exit full screen when launched from command line

2016-07-10 Thread Lindsay
Here are a couple of workarounds:

>From the View menu in vinagre, enable "Keyboard Shortcuts". The F11 key
will now toggle in and out of full screne mode. This had the
disadvantage that some keystrokes or keystroke combinations aren't
passed on to the remote desktop, which is usually the desired behavior

Hover your mouse pointer a few pixels below the top of the screen and
move it slowly left and right over the area where the menu usually
appears. Tooltips will pop out belonging to the buttons which should be
displayed. Left-click when you see "Leave fullscreen".

[Bug 1577140] Re: Wifi Ralink R3290 disabled by default in ubuntu 16.04

2016-07-10 Thread Shankey
I've identified the kernel from where this issue occurred at first time
its kernel 4.3 and after looking the above link i still cant get the
exact meaning of bisection or how to bisect a kernel...

Kernel without issue http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-
ppa/mainline/linux-3.19.y.z-review/

On last kernel(which i installed by myself) wifi worked is kernel 4.2
and distribution is ubuntu 15.04

I think something is wrong with network manager and rfkill as well in
Ubuntu 16.04 i.e. the network manager doesn't load the interference name
by itself I'll have to manually enter the command

sudo ifconfig interface-name up
sudo service network-manager restart

And if somehow after compiling the driver and executing the above wifi
shows up then it doesn't detects any hotspots or available connections
in ubuntu 16.04.

Also the rfkill shows the "hardware block: yes" it fails to unblock the
device even by pressing the wifi key or by executing the command "rfkill
unblock all". I had also reseted the BIOS but nothing worked.

Ralink r3290 having too much issues with ubuntu as compared to windows.
We want any working driver for it.

[Bug 1600671] [NEW] OsSysLogTask not assigning syslog server sockets correctly

2016-07-10 Thread Thomas Gutzler
Public bug reported:

OsSysLogTask::processAddSocket() is supposed to add a syslog server socket to
the list of available sockets (mpSockets) if there is still one available. The
loop which is inserting the newly created socket into mpSockets[] is not
terminated when an available spot is found. This fills up the array the first
time a syslog server is added leaving no room for more.
Worse, the syslog server will get multiple copies of the same log message
blowing up the logfile unnecessarily.

Patch is attached.

[Bug 1562182] Re: missing greeter icon for budgie-desktop

2016-07-10 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Doug, that's a good point if the Debian maintainer is unwilling to
include a Ubuntu-specific icon (although it's still worth asking and not
assume they wouldn't be interested).

But in this case, fossfreedom, the original bug reporter, is working to
get his budgie-desktop package in Debian and be the Debian maintainer.

2016-07-10 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Because it's a big disadvantage that nothing recommends or depends on
unity-greeter-badges so users have to explicitly install it which means
they'd have to learn about it somewhere.

Doug, have you tried asking the unity-greeter maintainers if they'd
recommend this package or just bundle the icons directly?

[Bug 1600399] Re: dh_makegolangshlibs breaks audit

2016-07-10 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package dh-golang - 1.18ubuntu2

---
dh-golang (1.18ubuntu2) yakkety; urgency=medium

  * Run dh_makegolangshlibs after dh_makeshlibs rather than instead of it,
fixing FTBFS when there are non-Go shared libraries in the package.

[Bug 1600638] Re: Unity control center chokes on upper case in user name

2016-07-10 Thread Robert Ancell
POSIX supports upper and lower case letters, however adduser is
configured by default in Debian to only allow lower case. It makes sense
for Unity Control Center to only allow lower case given it is used in
Ubuntu, though GNOME Control Center might still continue to allow mixed
case.

[Bug 1562182] Re: missing greeter icon for budgie-desktop

2016-07-10 Thread Doug Torrance
A big advantage of shipping a badge in unity-greeter-badges as opposed
to budgie-desktop (or any window manager/desktop environment package) is
to minimize the diff between the Debian and Ubuntu packages.

The Window Maker and Motif badges were both moved into unity-greeter-
badges for this reason.

3) do you just want an Ubuntu package you can use?

[Bug 1562182] Re: missing greeter icon for budgie-desktop

2016-07-10 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Ok, this icon could be shipped in unity-greeter-badges. But then you'd
have to ask your users to install this package if they want to use
unity-greeter. (I think the Budgie .iso uses a different lightdm
greeter.)

My opinion is that this file could be shipped in the budgie-desktop
package itself. That way, there's no need to install an extra package.

This would also allow you to update the icon in the future if you ever
need to, without waiting for a sponsor.

I did a search (apt-file search /usr/share/unity-greeter/ ) and saw that
Unity 8 ships its own unity-greeter icon.

[Bug 1599952] Re: Blurred images with kernels after 4.2.x

2016-07-10 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
RD, in order to allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue, at
your earliest convenience, could you please test the latest upstream kernel
available from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/?C=N;O=D ? Please
keep in mind the following:
1) The one to test is at the very top line at the top of the page (not the
daily folder).
2) The release names are irrelevant.
3) The folder time stamps aren't indicative of when the kernel actually was
released upstream.
4) Install instructions are available at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds .

If testing on your main install would be inconvenient, one may:
1) Install Ubuntu to a different partition and then test this there.
2) Backup, or clone the primary install.

If the latest kernel did not allow you to test to the issue (ex. you couldn't
boot into the OS) please make a comment in your report about this, and continue
to test the next most recent kernel version until you can test to the issue.
Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version
specifically you tested. If this issue is fixed in the mainline kernel, please
add the following tags by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil
icon, next to the word Tags, located at the bottom of the report description:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-X.Y-rcZ

Where X, and Y are the first two numbers of the kernel version, and Z is
the release candidate number if it exists.

If the mainline kernel does not fix the issue, please add the following tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream
kernel-bug-exists-upstream-X.Y-rcZ

Please note, an error to install the kernel does not fit the criteria of
kernel-bug-exists-upstream.

Also, you don't need to apport-collect further unless specifically
requested to do so.

Once testing of the latest upstream kernel is complete, please mark this
report Status Confirmed. Please let us know your results.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Bug 1133477] Re: cut-n-paste move files got stuck forever

2016-07-10 Thread Sebastian
I ran into the same issue just now on 15.10 trying to drag <300 text
files (<2MB) into a folder. I just received the "preparing ..." pop-up.
When I hit cancel after several minutes, a small portion of the files
had transfer.

[Bug 1600399] Re: dh_makegolangshlibs breaks audit

2016-07-10 Thread Michael Hudson-Doyle
Oops.

I think just calling dh_makeshlibs -Xlibgolang at the end of
dh_makegolangshlibs would work pretty well, but I guess it's almost as
easy and more correct to just -X the shared libraries we have done the
work for.

Not at all sure how to do the bonus bit, AFAICT the overide_ rule
detection is in /usr/bin/dh itself not in any library package (and is
pretty hair-raising).

This bug still exists in Mint 18

Xsane generates the error: "Failed to open device
'avision:libusb:009:003': Operation not supported"

The only work around I've found is to us vuescan (commercial software).
vuescan even supports transparency scanning, something the sane driver
never did, even when it worked.

[Bug 1600649] [NEW] External keyboard keys don't repeat in XMir apps

2016-07-10 Thread Michael Sheldon
Public bug reported:

Steps to reproduce:

1. Open Libre Office Writer

2. Type a string of random characters

3. Hold down the backspace key

Expected result:

All the characters should be deleted

Actual result:

Only one character is deleted, you have to keep tapping the key to
delete large amounts of text

This behaviour works correctly in text fields for normal applications, it's
only in legacy XMir apps that this occurs.

[Bug 1600648] [NEW] Generic USB Mass Storare Failure

2016-07-10 Thread Hans Verschoor
Public bug reported:

I realize this is not a reporting a bug for a specific situation but after
collecting numerous reports from equally numerous forums I cannot make another
analysis that there something very wrong crept into Linux regarding mounting
and handling USB Mass Storage. None of the suggestions I found worked, and I
dare to say the same goes for the major part of others with their problems as
well.
May be it's time to stop with trying to solve each individual problem, usually
without any success as I followed the discussions, but go back to "point zero"
and fix this horrible bug.
FYI: I noticed that mounting USB Mass Storage worked on earlier releases.

BTW. my system:
Mint 17.2 Rafaela

Ubuntu: 52~14.04.1-Ubuntu SMP

[Bug 1600647] [NEW] openafs-modules-dkms 1.6.15-1ubuntu1: openafs kernel module failed to build

2016-07-10 Thread David Horner

I saw

[Bug 1294643] Re: Boot Hangs, lshw display indicates UNCLAIMED

2016-07-10 Thread Andreas Bartels
I've got a simular problem. After failing of the bootdisk in my raid, I
exchanged that and could first not start the system any more even with
boot-repair not. But that left me of with a kernel that was not able to
even mount the efi partition.

After all that finding and getting back on now the Mouse is not more
working proper and the Screen as well. The UNCLAIMED msg in my lshw is
existing. So I think maybe my kernel isn't doing it. Which kernel do I
need, as my system is maybe not that easy to reinstall with 14.4 as it
is using mdadm and efi and some other features that are installed and I
don't want to reinstall as I think the normal reinstall will not give me
that back?

[Bug 1599952] Re: i915 driver not supported in kernels after 4.2.x

2016-07-10 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
RD, I clarified your Bug Description to focus on one problem (one issue
per report), and correct the fact that the issue isn't your hardware
isn't supported (it is) but you have a regression that is causing this
problem.

With this in mind, could you please attach a picture or screenshot of
the blurred images to this report?

** Tags added: latest-bios-1301

** Description changed:

- Have used Ubuntu or its flavors for 3 years with no issues on this machine.
Installed Ubuntu 16.04 64-bit lts, and successively xubuntu 16.04, ubuntuMATE
16.04, and lubuntu 16.04. Each installed, but with blurred images. Could not
get native 1920x1080 resolution to display. Would like to use one of these,
but am relegated to Debian or Debian derivatives using older kernels and
packages that support the driver. Sandy Bridge integrated graphics with my i5
cpu were manufactured in 2011 -- in my opinion not too old to still work or at
least be supported somehow. A patch or updated driver would be great. There
were a bunch of these Asus cm6850 machines made.

2016-07-10 Thread Joakim Koed
New and better fix if you still want to use SNA, insted of UXA.

sudo nano /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-intel.conf

Section "Device"
   Identifier "Intel Graphics"
   Driver "intel"
   Option "AccelMethod" "sna"
   Option "TearFree""true"
   Option "DRI""3"
EndSection

Save and reboot.

[Bug 1599952] Re: i915 driver not supported in kernels after 4.2.x

2016-07-10 Thread RD
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected ubuntu xenial

** Description changed:

- Have used Ubuntu or its flavors for 3 years with no issues on this
- machine. Installed Ubuntu 16.04 64-bit lts, and successively xubuntu
- 16.04, ubuntuMATE 16.04, and lubuntu 16.04. Each installed, but with
- blurred images. Could not get native 1920x1080 resolution to display.
- Would like to use one of these, but am relegated to Debian or Debian
- derivatives using older kernels and packages that support the driver.
- Sandy Bridge integrated graphics with my i5 cpu were manufactured in
- 2011 -- in my opinion not too old to still work or at least be supported
- somehow. A patch or updated driver would be great. There were a bunch
- of these Asus cm6850 machines made.
