I'm also having the same or similar problem with my Epson WF-3520. Worked find at 15.10, nothing after 16.04 upgrade. I was a little confused about which set up some of the comments described here. Mine is a printer / scanner directly connected to the router and accessed wirelessly. So in theory needing to set up a backend is not required(?). I have also bugged this separately at #1613027. I've also tested a few mainline kernels to see where the problem starts (it appears to be all the 4.4... series). Reverting to an earlier kernel allows scanning to work which may be a temporary work-around. In any case I've tried the solutions raised here, but did not succeed. The verification for 2.15 failed on xenial, so 2.15.1 was released with a few small fixes. I tested it in an up-to-date xenial virtual machine with kvm. I installed snapcraft, snapcraft-examples and snapcraft-parser, version 2.14. Then enabled proposed and updated those packages to 2.15.1. Then I ran the following tests: ✓ build a snap with artifacts instead of an install target. ✓ run the parser with an error and check the exit code. ✓ build a snap with chown warnings, check that they are printed only with --debug. ✓ build a part that depends on a library part I'm marking this bug as verified so it can land in xenial. Interestingly, I still get the partial vertical line drawn even now that nautilus doesn't draw the screen background on startup (I have to manually run it from the launcher to get the screen background). There are a bunch of other things that don't run anymore, eg the the system load indicator, the weather indicator, tomboy notes indicator, the network-manager indicator... and the screen lock and dpms is now broken. Public bug reported: Whenever I reboot, if there are drivers mounted with corresponding folders in /media (whether internal or external, btfrs, ntfs, or ext4), after the reboot the original folder is still present and the drives re- mount in a new folder. (Note that I mount drives in /media instead of /media/ so that all users can access them, in case this is relevant.) eg if there was a file mounted in /media/drive, after reboot there is an empty folder /media/drive and a new one /media/drive1 with the drive mounted in it. A subsequent reboot means there will be /media/drive, /media/drive1, and /media/drive2, and so on until I manually remove the old folders. I'm guessing that the issue is that systemd is not unmounting the drives properly on reboot since is a problem in Ubuntu 16.04 as well as yakkety. It's unlikely to be a lack-of-time issue since sometimes on reboot systemd will wait for 90 seconds or more for the cryptfs swap to unmount before giving up. Public bug reported: This is on an upgrade from 14.04.4LTS to 16.04.1LTS. I'm using the same configuration file as before. Nothing was changed. When starting the clamav-daemon by using sudo service clamav-daemon start or by sudo /etc/init.d/clamav-daemon start the clamd.pid and clamd.socket files are not created per my configuration file. Some hints for using Ubuntu 16.04 machines that can't be rebooted to work around this bug: 1) You can keep your SSH logins a secret from systemd-logind by adding `UsePAM no` to /etc/ssh/sshd_config; this will avoid the ~25 second delay. 2) `UsePAM no` requires unlocked accounts (passwd -u) with a password set, even if you are only using publickey authentication. 3) You can use `AuthenticationMethods publickey` to prevent login with the passwords set for those accounts. 4) `su` also uses PAM and therefore informs systemd-logind and hangs for ~25 seconds, but in some cases `ssh user@localhost` can work as a replacement for `su`.
