[Bug 1596662] Re: pcscd fails to read CAC card data, errors out
I was able to upgrade the firmware of the reader from a virtual machine running windows with virt-manager/qemu. But I don't recommend this method of upgrade. You have to attach the broadcom usb device to the machine, then execute the dell control vault2 firmware upgrade. The thing is that once it starts the USB device will disappear, and it will appear again with a 0a5c:5831 ID. You have to be quick to reatach this new usb device (in live) on the machine so the upadate can continue. And it will disappear again and appear again. Like 8 times. If you fail to be quick in attaching the device the updater will abort and will tell you to reboot. If the device don't completes the update it will be unusable. It will not identify itself as a smart card reader and will have the 0a5c:5831 ID. You can however retry the update. Once the upgrade completes the USB ID will change to 0a5c:5832 and it will identify itself as a smart card reader. Another important thing is that you have to enable the TPM and set it to disable. And also attach the TPM as a passthrough device on the qemu/kvm machine for it to work. I finally was able to upgrade the firmware correctly using this dirty method. So, meanwhile I achieved to upgrade the firmware from a windows virtual machine, I don't recommend it. I think in the end is simple and less risky to run the upgrade from windows directly. Its a shame that dell or broadcom don't provide a way of updating this firmware without requiring windows. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1596662 Title: pcscd fails to read CAC card data, errors out To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pcsc-lite/+bug/1596662/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1586381] Re: Pip states report "AttributeError: 'Requirement' object has no attribute 'project_name'" since python-pip (8.1.1-2ubuntu0.1)
It also breaks TensorFlow and a lot of other things. The workaround is to do "pip install --upgrade pip" to apply the fix from upstream, but the Ubuntu package is still broken. *** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1556795 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1556795 I'm not completely sure this is a duplicate of bug 1607240 because that one technically never existed in a form that users of non-X11 apps would notice. Because Unity8 was also defaulting to slowing down scrolling by a similar amount, which was a guestimate hack that kept most apps scrolling at the right speed. [Bug 1566302] Re: Ubuntu 16.04: Suspend freezes the system after upgrade to linux image 4.4.0-16
Same problem here. Lenovo G510 with I5 and integrated graphics. Just installed elementary OS Loki Beta. Currently running 4.4.0-36-generic. Randomly freezes on resuming from suspend. Screen does not blank out, windows are visible but everything is unresponsive including mouse/touchpad. Happens about 1 in 4 resumes. Thinking this might be a video driver issue I just added the oibaf and x-org/edgers ppas to update my graphics drivers to the latest by doing: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:oibaf/graphics-drivers sudo add-apt-repository ppa:xorg-edgers/ppa sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get dist-upgrade I'm not certain this will have any effect at all or even if it is a good or bad idea to add both. Yeah, sounds like a hint to the BleachBit folks. (hadn't seen your comment #46 when I posted my comment #47) As regards those two packages, and based on your latest comments, I assume that reinstalling was a no-op in 14.04, since you had a higher version number installed than was available in the archive. That in turn would explain why the files removed by BleachBit were back only when you downgraded. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1599516 Title: No accented letters in window title bars, dash and hud. [Bug 1620854] [NEW] Audio playback works in slow motion after resume from suspension
Public bug reported: The audio playback through HDMI works in slow motion after a resume from suspension. Before the suspension the audio works as expected on both the "internal speaker" and "HDMI" output cards. When you suspend (and then resume) the system the audio playback starts acting weird through the HDMI output card. The audio is played in slow motion and you can also see that the time of playback is going on slower than the time in real life. Let me describe one of the tests I've performed. I've booted the system and started playing a song in vlc. I've opened the Ubuntu sound settings. I've selected the "HDMI" output card and the playback worked as expected. I've selected the "Internal speakers" output card and the playback worked as expected. Then I've closed vlc, suspended and then resumed the system. I've started playing a song in vlc again. I've opened the Ubuntu sound settings. I've selected the "HDMI" output card and the playback started working in slow motion: the audio was extremely slow and also the time indicator was working slowly (5 seconds of the song were played in about 10 seconds "in real life"). I've selected the "Internal speakers" output card and the playback started working as expected again. Please note that after a resume from suspension when you select the "Internal speakers" card the bug disappears and when you select the "HDMI" card the bug appears again. I've tested this bug also with videos in vlc, in a browser and in totem. The bug appears (or disappears) in the same way. The bug affects every kind of audio, including system sounds. Everything works fine before a suspension. The only way I found to restore the before-suspension behavior is a reboot. Steps to reproduce: * Make sure this is a fresh boot (never suspended since the last boot). * Play something with audio (tested with: video in browser, song in vlc and Ubuntu speaker tests). * Select "Speakers - Internal audio" as output device (Audio works as expected). * Select "HDMI - Internal audio" as output device (Audio works as expected). * Stop the audio playback. * Suspend and resume the system. * Play something again. * Select "Speakers - Internal audio" as output device (Audio works as expected). * Select "HDMI - Internal audio" as output device (The bug appears). Expected behavior: * Audio playback should work well through "Speakers - Internal audio" as output device. * Audio playback should work well through "HDMI - Internal audio" as output device. Actual behavior: * Audio playback is working well through "Speakers - Internal audio" as output device. * Audio playback is working in slow motion through "HDMI - Internal audio" as output device. If you installed steam from here, http://store.steampowered.com/about/, then on first run it tries to install 'libgl1-mesa-dri:i386 libgl1-mesa- glx:i386 libc6:i386'. If you install the appropriate packages for your HWE stack first, e.g. sudo apt-get install libgl1-mesa-dri-lts-wily:i386 libgl1-mesa-glx-lts-wily:i386, then you can successfully run steam. To find out what HWE stack you have installed you can use the following command: dpkg -l | grep ii.*-lts Regardless, this (the steam application manually trying to install packages) is not something we the developers of Ubuntu can fix so I'm setting this to Invalid. ** Changed in: mesa (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1424263 Title: steam deb file isn't aware of HWE stacks To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mesa/+bug/1424263/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
