2016-09-21 Thread Seth Arnold
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears
to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.
Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

[Bug 1626389] [NEW] OTA-13 Meizu Pro 5 Bluetooth not working

2016-09-21 Thread Henrik Solskov Jensen
Public bug reported:

I am not able to use my phone in my car.
The phone connects perfectly to Sync in my Ford Fiesta.
Downloading phone book works.
Status in the car-display works.
Streaming music works.
With Incoming calls / outgoing calls it is impossible to hear anything.
Must be fixed ASAP, otherwise the phone is useless for me!

[Bug 1626175] Re: dpkg crashes after apt-get upgrade got interrupted while upgrading "python-pyasn1" and it couldn't recovered

2016-09-21 Thread Steve Langasek
It's unclear to me why this package should have gotten into a state
requiring reinstallation, and it's unlikely that we will have enough
debugging information here to figure it out.

For recovering, the advice here applies:

http://askubuntu.com/questions/148715/how-to-fix-package-is-in-a-very-bad-inconsistent-
state-error

in particular, sudo dpkg --remove --force-remove-reinstreq python-
pyasn1; sudo apt-get install python-pyasn1

Your bug report also shows a dpkg crash due to an invalid free. This
would be something we should also look at, but we would need a full
symbolic backtrace to debug it. Is the crash reproducible for you? Can
you install the apport package and trigger the crash, capturing the core
to /var/crash so we can debug it?

[Bug 1626350] Re: package initramfs-tools 0.122ubuntu8 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2016-09-21 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The version of update-initramfs that you likely have
installed is unable to work on a persistent usb stick. You can resolve
this issue by upgrading the version of casper on your system. This can
be done via the commands:

sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get install casper

Then performing the software update or installation that you were
originally trying. If this does not resolve your bug please set its
status back to New. Thanks in advance!

[Bug 1626378] [NEW] Wifi Connection applet does not connect or save passwords with a comma

2016-09-21 Thread notuvo
Public bug reported:

I clicked on the WiFi connection applet, selected an access point,
entered in a password that contained a comma, clicked Connect, then
nothing happened. There was no error or attempt to connect. When trying
to connect again, the previous password with a comma was not saved.
However, incorrect password attempts that don't contain a comma are
saved. The applet is nm-applet.

When using nm-connection-editor, I can save the password that contains a
comma. The next time I try to connect with the applet, the connection
succeeds without prompting for a password.

The problem is that I can't use the applet to enter in the password with
a comma. I must use the connection editor.

This was on Lubuntu. The WiFi access point was 2.4 GHz and used a WPA
ASCII password that contains a comma.

[Bug 1581713] Re: Ubuntu Software asks for an Ubuntu Single Sign-On account to remove a snap

2016-09-21 Thread Claudio André
Reasonable observation, but there is something that worries me.
- It means my mother-in-law will have to create one SSO account if she wants to
install/uninstall a snap package.

Okay, this might be necessary sooner or later, I'm just thinking out
loud.

BTW: She doesn't speak English. Are these 'account' pages available in a
good set of languages?

[Bug 1581713] Re: Ubuntu Software asks for an Ubuntu Single Sign-On account to remove a snap

2016-09-21 Thread Robert Ancell
Technically why this happens is gnome-software asks snapd to remove the
snap. Since gnome-software is run as as user (i.e. not as root) it
prompts gnome-software for authorization. The only method of getting
authorization is to call 'snap login' which prompts for store
credentials.

What we actually want here is the equivalent of sudo. i.e. check if the
user is an administrator and prompt them for their password. This would
require snapd to have a "login-local" type concept that would return
authorization without checking Ubuntu One credentials.

I'll ask the Snappy team what their thoughts are on this.

The USB Ethernet device would warn occasionally under the 4.4 kernel. Under the
4.8 kernel, it spams my kernel log so much that I don't get anything else.

[Bug 1602243] Re: [16.10 FEAT] Upgrade Docker to newest version 1.12

2016-09-21 Thread Michael Hudson-Doyle
Docker fails to start when the package from xenial-proposed is
installed. The docker.socket unit is enabled but does not start.

The package in yakkety works and is very similar, so I think this is
probably a bug in something in yakkety (maybe init-system-helpers?) but
something needs fixing in any case.

[Bug 1626224] Re: [SRU] New stable micro release 2.18

2016-09-21 Thread Chris Halse Rogers
Hello Sergio, or anyone else affected,

Accepted snapcraft into xenial-proposed. The package will build now and
be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/snapcraft/2.18 in a
few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

[Bug 1489329] Re: MX4 GPS doesn't work at all

2016-09-21 Thread Victor Gabillon
GPS has been not working on my Meizu MX4 for a long time time now. Recently it
went back to life after the OTA 13 update but only for a couple of hours.
After I tried to connect to WIFI, the GPS dropped. And now, after reboot, or
delete the config file as advised in previous comments, I am back to the
No-GPS state.
It used to work sometimes when wifi was available but now it seems that the
phone is also recently having big problems connecting to WIFI (cannot connect
to my work wifi for instance).

[Bug 1609898] Re: dhclient incorrectly assumes a /64 ipv6 prefix

2016-09-21 Thread Mathew Hodson
** Description changed:

  [Impact]

clients who get an ipv6 address from a dhcpv6 server assume the address
has a /64 prefix, but that is not necessarily true, and if the subnet is
different than /64 those clients will not be able to reach other
addresses in that /64 prefix because the other systems are not on-link.
This /64 assumption of dhclient effectively breaks the client networking
  for certain addresses.

  [Test Case]

Set up a server with two interface nics, and one client connected to
each of those interfaces. On the server, set up a ipv6 subnet on each
interface, with a larger prefix than /64, e.g.:

  2001:db8:0:0:1::/96
  2001:db8:0:0:2::/96

configure dhcpv6 on the server, to provide ipv6 addresses on each
interface. Set the server as the default ipv6 route for the clients.

Allow the clients to get dhcpv6 ipv6 addresses from the server. The
clients will each get a ipv6 address with a /64 prefix, due to the bug
  in dhclient.

Try to ping (or otherwise communicate) between the clients. Since they
have /64 prefixes, they think they are on-link with each other, but they
are not, so they can't communicate.

After the dhclient bug is fixed, repeat the above setup, and the clients
will get /128 prefixes instead, and then will be able to communicate
with each other, because they will route the traffic to each other
  through the server.

- [Regression potential]
+ [Regression Potential]

Non-standard (i.e. not /64) subnets served by dhcpv6 currently are
  broken, this fixes that.

However, any ipv6 network configurations that rely on the previous
incorrect assumed /64 behavior (as described here:
https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc5942#section-5) in order to allow dhcpv6
clients to communicate with other systems inside the subnet, but do not
use RA to also provide clients with the actual prefix len, will break.

To clarify: a server that provides clients with dhcpv6 addresses, but
  does not also provide the prefix len via RA, will change behavior;
previously, all clients on the subnet could talk directly to each other,
with this update the clients cannot talk to each other directly; all
traffic between clients will be routed through the default gateway.

Further, if the network does not provide a default gateway - for example
a local network that is intended only for traffic between local servers
  - the clients will not be able to talk to each other at all.

Note that such configurations *are* broken configurations, that just
happened to work before because of incorrect dhcp client behavior; such
configurations must be updated to perform RA to provide the prefix len
  to clients.

The exception in comment #23 is from Mir. However I don't know if it's
really a bug or just excessive logging that coincides with an external
failure like a client dying.

[Bug 1626344] [NEW] [enhancement] Add microseconds to unity8.log prefix

2016-09-21 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Public bug reported:

Please add microseconds to the logging prefix used in unity8.log (and
more?). They are often useful for debugging and would make things look
more consistent with Mir. For example, I just saw this in a user's bug
report:

[2016-09-22:02:30:46.345] qtmir.mir: SessionListener::SessionListener - this=
SessionListener(0xf17ece3c)
[2016-09-22:02:30:46.345] qtmir.mir:
PromptSessionListener::PromptSessionListener - this=
PromptSessionListener(0xf17ecffc)
[2016-09-22 02:30:46.345807] mirserver: Using nested cursor
[2016-09-22:02:30:46.346] qtmir.mir: MirWindowManagerImpl::MirWindowManagerImpl
[2016-09-22 02:30:46.346617] mirserver: Initial display configuration:
[2016-09-22 02:30:46.349255] mirserver: 0.1: LVDS 10,0" 135x216mm
[2016-09-22 02:30:46.349405] mirserver:Current mode 1200x1920 56,90Hz
[2016-09-22 02:30:46.349470] mirserver:Preferred mode 1200x1920 56,90Hz
[2016-09-22 02:30:46.349526] mirserver:Logical position +0+0
[2016-09-22 02:30:46.349588] mirserver: 0.2: unused DisplayPort
[2016-09-22 02:30:46.349644] mirserver: 0.3: unused (null)
[2016-09-22 02:30:46.350821] mirserver: Mir version 0.24.0
[2016-09-22:02:30:46.350] qtmir.screens: QtCompositor::start
[2016-09-22:02:30:46.413] qtmir.screens: ScreensModel::update

We could certainly make the date/time formats the same...

[Bug 1626340] Re: Blank space between 'FlightMode' and 'Rotation Lock' after update

2016-09-21 Thread Victor Gabillon
** Description changed:

In the main menu of System Settings, the first options at the top of the page
are 'Flight Mode' and 'Rotation Lock'. I have seen temporarily an additional
blank space between these two after having made an update of one of the app
from the update menu in the same System Settings. The blank space disappears if
you close and reopen the System settings app.
This bug might be linked to the fact that a temporary option called 'Updates
Available >' appears when updates are available around this same position.
