[Bug 1625782] Re: [needs-packaging] adwaita-icon-theme and adwaita-icon-theme-full not available in Trusty
Ubuntu 14.04 LTS uses GNOME 3.10. adwaita-icon-theme was not introduced until GNOME 3.14. Before that point, the theme was named gnome-icon- theme. Therefore, I recommend you install gnome-icon-theme-full. Or you could opt in to the Windows Insider Program. With build 14936 and higher, Ubuntu 16.04 LTS is used for new Bash on Ubuntu on Windows installs. I believe you need to opt in to the Fast Ring currently for that but after installing the latest build, you can choose the Slow Ring if you don't want frequent updates. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1625782 Title: [needs-packaging] adwaita-icon-theme and adwaita-icon-theme-full not available in Trusty To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/adwaita-icon-theme/+bug/1625782/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1280300] Re: Desktop contents displayed on resume, before lock screen is shown
Below is a workaround I use. * #!/bin/sh viewnior --fullscreen '/home/user_name/Images/My solid color image which obscures my desktop.png' && sleep 2 && dbus-send --system --print-reply --dest=org.freedesktop.login1 /org/freedesktop/login1 "org.freedesktop.login1.Manager.Suspend" boolean:true && i3lock -i '/home/user_name/Images/My image I like to look at when my computer wakes up.png' -p default -n * I lock my screen with a keyboard shortcut I created in Xubuntu which I associated with the above script. After my computer wakes up I need to exit Viewnior (the image viewer I am using) so that the the file called, "My solid color image which obscures my desktop.png" disappears. I suppose the extra step would not be necessary if someone with some technical knowledge would explain how to cause i3lock to exit the image viewer after the computer wakes up. I use "viewnior --fullscreen" instead of "viewnior -f" because the later didn't seem to work in a terminal. I suppose this was a result of my using a French language terminal. Also, if you need to resize your image because you want it to appear centered on the screen, there's no need to install GIMP or any other draw or paint application. I used Google Drawings to resize "My solid color image which obscures my desktop.png" to match my screen size which is 1366 x 768 pixels. I went to File–>Page configuration–>Customize and typed 1366 then 768 and chose pixels. Then I downloaded "My solid color image which obscures my desktop.png" to my local drive. I suppose if the developer(s) of this app were to a detailed explanation of the abovein a message, say the first five times a new image were used in i3lock, it would help new users quickly and easily lock their screen securely and ensure their images were centered on the screen. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1280300 Title: Desktop contents displayed on resume, before lock screen is shown To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-screensaver/+bug/1280300/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1636034] [NEW] Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs
Public bug reported: Got kernel panic at boot and could not reach grub using shift. Found Bug #1547559, saw this comment by Jason Straight. "Stumbled across this today while searching for a fix for a PC running 16.04 that this is happening on. I don't understand why, but editing /etc/default/grub to uncomment the line for graphical terminal fixed it. What that has to do with mounting root I don't know, but that was certainly the fix." "Uncommenting #GRUB_TERMINAL=console fixed it." Yes, it does. Not sure if this is related or not so new bug. [Bug 1626436] Re: [4.8 regression] boot has become very slow
Thanks Joseph! I'm seeing the same effect described by Martin. Boot+lightdm+loading Unity 7 is not as fast as it used to be in 16.04. I need to compare timings (4.8 patched vs 4.8 vs 4.4) tomorrow to make sure, but I also feel like it's a little faster now with the patches applied. The number of kworker processes after boot has reduced drastically using the patched kernel, it's a sane number now (~30), not 1004 like when using the unpatched 4.8 kernel. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1626436 Title: [4.8 regression] boot has become very slow To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1626436/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1636033] [NEW] Graphics driver setback to Gallium 0.4 on llvmpipe (LLVM 3.8, 256 bits)
Public bug reported: I've been experiencing brightness control issues and I ended up "upgrading" my graphics driver through Intel Graphics Update Tool for Linux https://01.org/linuxgraphics. Running their application setback my graphics driver (previously Intel Ivybridge) to Gallium 0.4 on llvmpipe (LLVM 3.8, 256 bits). I've tried several solutions I found on askubuntu and other forums, but nothing seems to work. Fortunately I stumbled upon your xdiagnose tool and tried running it. It seems my system is not using hardware acceleration. I'll be happy to share any additional information you might need for solving this.
