[Bug 1485153] Re: Unable to connect to GeoClue

2016-11-25 Thread Luc Pi
I fully second the previous comment #13 :

- still in 16.10
- started by the session, it works perfectly
- started "by hand", it fails and throws the geoclue error
- enabling "Settings -> Privacy -> Location Services" makes it work again

There are 2 bugs (IMHO)
1. there is no reason why it would work from the session but not when started
by hand
2. redshift-gtk should be more friendly about the error and suggest a solution.

[Bug 1603715] Re: bluetooth unavailable after rfkill hard (or soft) unblocking and after suspend/resume

2016-11-25 Thread Eric Ding
I'm experiencing a similar issue on Thinkpad x220 running Linux Mint 18
(based on Ubuntu 16.04) with kernel 4.4.0-21. In my case, rfkill
unblock needs to be called twice in order to fully enable (and soft
unblock) bluetooth:

# rfkill block bluetooth
# rfkill list bluetooth
0: tpacpi_bluetooth_sw: Bluetooth
Soft blocked: yes
Hard blocked: no
# rfkill unblock bluetooth
# rfkill list bluetooth
0: tpacpi_bluetooth_sw: Bluetooth
Soft blocked: no
Hard blocked: no
5: hci0: Bluetooth
Soft blocked: yes
Hard blocked: no

(At this stage, Bluetooth appears to be on in the Mint Bluetooth
configuration dialog but can't see any devices).

# rfkill unblock bluetooth
# rfkill list bluetooth
0: tpacpi_bluetooth_sw: Bluetooth
Soft blocked: no
Hard blocked: no
5: hci0: Bluetooth
Soft blocked: no
Hard blocked: no

(Now Bluetooth works fully as expected).

[Bug 1644951] [NEW] Merge from Debian

2016-11-25 Thread Simon Quigley
Public bug reported:

Debian moved their Vcs-* fields from SVN to Git in version 3.30.0-4. The
reason the Ubuntu revision seems to exist is because of a package rename
for g++5 ABI transition.

In order to create version 3.30.0-4ubuntu1, it seems that all that needs to
happen is 3.30.0-3ubuntu1 needs the following done to it:
 - New Debian changelog entry synced
 - The VCS fields updated appropriately
 - A new changelog entry created for 3.30.0-4ubuntu1

This revision should keep the Ubuntu delta while syncing the appropriate
Vcs-* field changes.

This shows that you are running the trusty release kernel. snapd will
only be supported on trusty with the xenial hwe kernel. This probably
explains your apparmor errors.

[Bug 1644947] [NEW] sound will not function in any form

2016-11-25 Thread Brendan
Public bug reported:

audio fail in any format, weather using main speakers head phones, or
external head phones. im not new to Ubuntu and have solved several audio
issues in the past but this one eludes me. i am making the assumption
that there may be no Linux compatible sound driver, this is NOT a dual
boot operating system, i have no other computer at the moment and if i
did i have not used a windows OS in over 20 years and would not know how
to. with all my years of running Linux ive never had a problem so big
that i couldn't just look it up, i do now. this is a 32 bit microwatt OS
with Ubuntu a its base. 32 bit, 1 gb ram, 134 gb hard disk, Intel atom
n450 or n470 processes at 1.66 GHz manufactured in 2009. i cant give
much in terms of what is wrong with the sound, as i myself do not know.
as for giving the steps ive already taken those are many and i haven't
kept a list.

[Bug 1644940] [NEW] Wgen editing a photo, a more intuitive behaviour would be nice

2016-11-25 Thread Emanuele Sorce
Public bug reported:

Open the gallery, open a photo and press the pencil button to modify it, and
make some modification.
Now: To save the modifiy and return to the gallery must be pressed the back
button on the top left, while to discard it the button in the bottom.
What I think can be helpful consider: The back button to save is
controintuitive on my opinion. Maybe a 'v'(i don't remeber the name, maybe
tick?) in the top right to save can be nicer.
However I am not a designer, but this is just my modest opinion that I ask you
to consider. Thank you for your work.

Hi, same issue here on Yakkety.

* icons break
* also with owncloud-client and nm-applet as third party indicators

At the moment the unity-panel-service "eats" 7,4GB from my 16GB!

Will try to stop owncloud-client, too.

[Bug 1635005] Re: xubuntu 16.10 freezes when trying to print

2016-11-25 Thread Gary Houston
It's probably bug #1630063. The system seems to lock up because the
keyboard and/or mouse are plugged into the same USB hub as the printer.
If you can plug them differently, only the printer will lock up. Running
"lsusb" in a terminal will show which hub the devices are connected to.
If you can still type after a lockup, then the typing "dmesg" in a
terminal may show ohci-pci errors.

[Bug 1471794] Re: Wifi slow on Intel Corporation Centrino Ultimate-N 6300

2016-11-25 Thread Hans Deragon
>From http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/network-and-i-o
/wireless-networking/05511.html, one can conclude that this issue
will probably never be fixed. The Ultimate-N 6300 is only supported for
kernel 2.6.30. Obviously, it would be great for someone at Intel to
confirm this. The driver persists in newer kernels, but if anybody is
going to work on it to fix any problem remains to be seen.

[Bug 1644931] [NEW] conditional formatting does not take selected palette

2016-11-25 Thread Wolf Rogner
Public bug reported:

changing background and font color for a cell allows to select different color

[Bug 1630063] Re: specific USB devices disconnect and don't reconnect

2016-11-25 Thread Gary Houston
I also had this problem, and found a different fix in 4.9 that fixed it
(my original bug #1641052):

commit a8006bd915095c40098bfcb684cc2bdfb414dc0d
Merge: 965c4b7 6bad6bc
Author: Linus Torvalds
Date: Fri Oct 28 11:26:01 2016 -0700

Merge branch 'timers-urgent-for-linus' of
git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/tip/tip

Pull timer fixes from Ingo Molnar:
"Fix four timer locking races: two were noticed by Linus while
reviewing the code while chasing for a corruption bug, and two
  from fixing spurious USB timeouts"

* 'timers-urgent-for-linus' of
git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/tip/tip:
timers: Prevent base clock corruption when forwarding
timers: Prevent base clock rewind when forwarding clock
timers: Lock base for same bucket optimization
timers: Plug locking race vs. timer migration

[Bug 1176046] Re: isc-dhcp dhclient listens on extra random ports

2016-11-25 Thread Eric Desrochers
Rectification, after more investigation here what is happening :

Trusty got the random port right away because NSUPDATE is enable at
compile time in package "isc-dhcp-client"

In Xenial and late (including debian) with commit
[b1d5bab630a29f2ca94c458f9402aa43cc5975c4], a new pkg binary package is
introduced "isc-dhcp-client-ddns" set as optional.

#debian/control:
+Package: isc-dhcp-client-ddns
+Priority: optional
+Architecture: any
+Depends:
+ ${misc:Depends},
+ ${shlibs:Depends},
+ isc-dhcp-client (= ${binary:Version}),
+Enhances: isc-dhcp-client
+Description: Dynamic DNS (DDNS) enabled DHCP client
+ This a Dynamic DNS enabled version of the DHCP client.

So basically the random port still exist in Xenial and late, but it requires,
the "isc-dhcp-client-ddns" package (optional) to be installed. So basically, it
is split probably to accommodate the folks having this problem, and in the same
time it allows peoples that really needs this feature to use it by installing
this additionnal new package.

On Xenial :
** Without "isc-dhcp-client-ddns" **
# lsof -i udp
COMMAND PID USER FD TYPE DEVICE SIZE/OFF NODE NAME
dhclient 140 root6u IPv4 344477 0t0 UDP *:bootpc

** With "isc-dhcp-client-ddns" **
# lsof -i udp
COMMAND PID USER FD TYPE DEVICE SIZE/OFF NODE NAME
dhclient 140 root6u IPv4 336839 0t0 UDP *:bootpc
dhclient 140 root 20u IPv4 336827 0t0 UDP *:65239
dhclient 140 root 21u IPv6 336828 0t0 UDP *:12817

[Bug 1644916] Re: missing fonts after suspend

Every 4-5 days, after suspend the system fonts are missing and system becomes
unusable, as shown in attached screenshot.
- As suggested in forums, playing with font size or scaling factor provides
temporary relief but after one more suspend the situation gets worse. Only
solution is to log out or to reboot.

[Bug 1643165] Re: Wifi drops out regularly after upgrade to 16.04

2016-11-25 Thread Shaun Crampton
Running 4.9.0-040900rc6, just had a drop out. Noticed that dmesg had
this output:

First this line, which seemed to coincide with the dropout:

[ 3627.072802] wlan0: AP 00:07:26:aa:e0:45 changed bandwidth, new config
is 2462 MHz, width 2 (2452/0 MHz)

Then, after a minute, this and it came back:

[ 3707.386740] wlan0: authenticate with 00:07:26:aa:e0:45
[ 3707.394906] wlan0: send auth to 00:07:26:aa:e0:45 (try 1/3)

[Bug 1644916] [NEW] missing fonts after suspend

2016-11-25 Thread alperyilmaz
Public bug reported:

Similar bugs were reported earlier:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/1432194
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gtk+3.0/+bug/1596698

Every 4-5 days, after suspend the system fonts are missing and system becomes
unusable, as shown in attached screenshot.
As suggested in forums, playing with font size or scaling factor provides
temporary relief but after one more suspend the situation gets worse.
Restarting genome-shell does not help the situation. Only solution is to log
out or to reboot.

[Bug 1622951] Re: bless fails to handle user config

2016-11-25 Thread Erik Hagelberg
Launching Bless from terminal gives a fault, like the one below. I
launched bless like this "sudo bless /dev/sda1". Additionally, just
launching "bless" gives the same fault even if preferences.xml is
deleted prior to launching. The preferences.xml doesn't seem complete?!
Device is not read and bless is just displaying zeros. Any clues?

Unexpected end of file has occurred. The following elements are not closed:
pref, preferences. Line 22, position 36.
