[Bug 1621121] Re: VM fails to start when vcpu placement='auto'
Hi Nish, I had the same conclusion and IMO we don't need a MIR. In fact on merging recent libvirt we get this "for free" without a Delta to be added. I haven't tested the case of uninstalled numad yet, as I was (I'm still) waiting for the reporters to confirm if the suggested way of inclusion (merging Debian would be about the same) would suit their needs first. [Bug 1651044] Re: ProxyDHCP replies on invalid range
I did another test: * I unplugged the network cable so that the ltsp-server didn't have an ip. * I ran `service dnsmasq restart`. * I plugged the network cable back in. * ...and the problem came back again, i.e. dnsmasq replied on invalid range. [Bug 1651044] [NEW] ProxyDHCP replies on invalid range
Public bug reported: In Ubuntu 16.04, I've configured dnsmasq to reply on subnet=10.160.37.0/24, yet it replies even when it gets an IP on subnet=10.161.254.0/24. I've only seen this after clean system restart. If I restart dnsmasq later on, it works as expected. [Bug 1649060] Re: amdgpu does not find any output when using dedicated (AMD) card
Just for information of anyone landing here, I indicate the results of my tests, I have tested the procedure with glxgears and the game Minecraft, both reporting similar results. If I remove all custom xorg configuration, just leaving defaults Ubuntu settings, the DRI_PRIME procedure appears to work fine if I use metacity as desktop, but if I use dash (Ubuntu default nowadays), I sometimes got black windows, with the image randomly appearing or disappearing when resizing the window. Googling about, I have found a reference (sorry, I do not remember where and I have not written it down) saying that DRI-3 should be used for the Intel driver. This is accomplished by creating a file in the /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d folder (create the folder if it does not exist), I have named it 20-dri3.conf, with the following contents: Section "Device" Identifier "intel-device" Driver "intel" Option "DRI" "3" EndSection According to the reference, the BusID field should not be indicated. Doing this, it seems that DRI_PRIME=1 works fine with both desktops, anyway if I read the Xorg.0.log file, all references to AMDGPU have disappeared (there are lot of them when using default xorg configuration) which seems to indicate that xorg module admgpu is not used (the kernel module is loaded anyway). Nevertheless, both glxinfo and Minecraft report that the AMD card is being used (and Minecraft performs better than without DRI_PRIME=1). [Bug 1651031] Re: php-igbinary package version is outdated and has various bugs
This is made worse by the fact that installing php-redis causes php- igbinary to be installed as well. In my case, we're running TYPO3 CMS with redis for caching. The TYPO3 caching framework uses igbinary if available and this breaks in really subtle ways. [Bug 1651033] [NEW] Virtual Box gives the user a few seconds to do stuff before locking
*** This bug is a security vulnerability *** Public security bug reported: I had a Windows 10 image running on Virtual Box, and I restarted the Windows 10 image on virtual box, and left the computer (host and guest) alone. When I came back, my monitors were turned off (like, in sleep mode) like they were in sleep mode. When I typed in a few keys to get everything to wake up again, I was typing into my Windows 10 image my account password. But then, I moved my mouse over to the other monitor (the host OS - Ubuntu Linux LTS 16.04), and started doing stuff on my web browser (Google Chrome), a few seconds after, the screen locked (almost like if the computer has a brain fart and was like "oh shit, this was supposed to be locked. Let me fix my mistake.") and I had to type in the password for the host operating system. Doesn't this mean that the user had a few unauthorized seconds to do stuff on the host OS, before being locked out? Hopefully I explained this well. [Bug 1639776] Re: dnsmasq fails to send queries out after suspend disconnects the interface
I can confirm that for this bug, I am not affected directly by suspend / resume actions. But the DNS still randomly fails during normal operation of the machine. [Bug 1650046] Re: application doesn't sync, it needs to be updated.
Hi again, Thanks for the advice on installing 0.5.1-4, though I haven't done it since the fix I applied solved my problem and it is just good enough for me for the time being. Anyway, since I also reported the bug to the developer, I also got answers to it over there, so I invite you to go back there and read the newer posts. They recommend me to ask for a SRU (Stable Release Update), and will back me up in doing so, which I will be grateful if they do. Though I am a first timer doing this and have no clue how to do it. The link seems to be this: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates and the proposed fix is this: https://bitbucket.org/benallard/galileo/issues/attachments/311/benallard/galileo/1481921710.25/311/0001-Fix-fitbit-server-url.patch As stated in the thread: https://bitbucket.org/benallard/galileo/issues/311/a-serious-error-happened-which-is-probably So please, do the stable release update for Yakkety Yak. I guess this is kind of a mess of bug report, not really well formatted, but I think you understood the problem and also can check the other thread for further explanantions. Me being a first timer in bug reporting, next time I'll try to adhere to the explanations mentioned in Stable Release Updates link. [Bug 1647075] Re: Unable to enter password to decrypt filesystem on boot after upgrading kernel to 4.4.0-51
Chris Schadl, the next step is to fully reverse commit bisect from kernel 4.4.30 to 4.4.36 in order to identify the last bad commit, followed immediately by the first good one. Once this good commit has been identified, it may be reviewed for backporting. Could you please do this following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/KernelBisection#How_do_I_reverse_bisect_the_upstream_kernel.3F ? Please note, finding adjacent kernel versions is not fully commit bisecting. Also, the kernel release names are irrelevant for the purposes of bisecting. It is most helpful that after the fix commit (not kernel version) has been identified, you then mark this report Status Confirmed. Thank you for your help. ** Tags removed: kernel-fixed-upstream needs-bisect ** Tags added: bios-outdated-3602 kernel-fixed-upstream-4.4.36 needs-reverse-bisect regression-update ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1647075 Title: Unable to enter password to decrypt filesystem on boot after upgrading kernel to 4.4.0-51 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1647075/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1645985] Re: ubuntu 1404_HWE_EOL kernel breaks Thinkpad T530 keyboard backlight operation
rich painter, in order to allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue, at your earliest convenience, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/?C=N;O=D ? Please keep in mind the following: 1) The one to test is at the very top line at the top of the page (not the daily folder). 2) The release names are irrelevant. 3) The folder time stamps aren't indicative of when the kernel actually was released upstream. 4) Install instructions are available at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds . If testing on your main install would be inconvenient, one may: 1) Install Ubuntu to a different partition and then test this there. 2) Backup, or clone the primary install. If the latest kernel did not allow you to test to the issue (ex. you couldn't boot into the OS) please make a comment in your report about this, and continue to test the next most recent kernel version until you can test to the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this issue is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon, next to the word Tags, located at the bottom of the report description: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-X.Y-rcZ Where X, and Y are the first two numbers of the kernel version, and Z is the release candidate number if it exists. If the mainline kernel does not fix the issue, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-X.Y-rcZ Please note, an error to install the kernel does not fit the criteria of kernel-bug-exists-upstream. Also, you don't need to apport-collect further unless specifically requested to do so. It is most helpful that after testing of the latest upstream kernel is complete, you mark this report Status Confirmed. Lastly, to keep this issue relevant to upstream, please continue to test the latest mainline kernel as it becomes available. Thank you for your help. ** Tags added: bios-outdated-2.67 regression-release ** Description changed: - System: Lenovo Thinkpad T530 laptop - OS: ubuntu 14.04 LTS, kernel 3.19.0-66-generic 64bit - lsb_release -rd - Description: Ubuntu 14.04.5 LTS - Release: 14.04 + Using kernel 3.19.0-66-generic the keyboard backlight and screen-top + illuminator work. - With the above configuration the keyboard backlights and screen-top - illuminator work as they are supposed to. + However, after upgrading to kernel 4.4 the keyboard backlight and + screen-top illuminator come on without hitting the special keys.
