[Bug 1634867] Re: Memory leak in DownloadJobImpl

2016-12-18 Thread Michi Henning
This is in part related to some of the leaks:

https://svn.boost.org/trac/boost/ticket/12220

We are still compiling with BOOST_THREAD_VERSION=4, which might prevent
the boost fix from being effective. (Need to check both xenial and
zesty.)

[Bug 1621121] Re: VM fails to start when vcpu placement='auto'

2016-12-18 Thread ChristianEhrhardt
Hi Nish,
I had the same conclusion and IMO we don't need a MIR.

In fact on merging recent libvirt we get this "for free" without a Delta
to be added.

I haven't tested the case of uninstalled numad yet, as I was (I'm still)
waiting for the reporters to confirm if the suggested way of inclusion
(merging Debian would be about the same) would suit their needs first.

Only then I wanted to go on investigating more to test/verify potential
pitfalls from our side.

[Bug 1651044] Re: ProxyDHCP replies on invalid range

2016-12-18 Thread Alkis Georgopoulos
I did another test:
 * I unplugged the network cable so that the ltsp-server didn't have an ip.
 * I ran `service dnsmasq restart`.
 * I plugged the network cable back in.
 * ...and the problem came back again, i.e. dnsmasq replied on invalid range.

This again suggests that it's some kind of wrong initialization when the
network is down while dnsmasq starts.

Using dnsmasq 2.75-1ubuntu0.16.04.1 on i386 architecture.

understand why a (reverse) bisecting between 4.7-rc7 and 4.8.1 is needed

[Bug 1651044] [NEW] ProxyDHCP replies on invalid range

2016-12-18 Thread Alkis Georgopoulos
Public bug reported:

In Ubuntu 16.04, I've configured dnsmasq to reply on subnet=10.160.37.0/24, yet
it replies even when it gets an IP on subnet=10.161.254.0/24.
I've only seen this after clean system restart. If I restart dnsmasq later on,
it works as expected.
Maybe when dnsmasq starts, the network isn't up yet, and it incorrectly
initializes some networking information? I'm using network-manager with DHCP.

Details:

[Bug 1649060] Re: amdgpu does not find any output when using dedicated (AMD) card

2016-12-18 Thread miguelquiros
Just for information of anyone landing here, I indicate the results of
my tests, I have tested the procedure with glxgears and the game
Minecraft, both reporting similar results.

If I remove all custom xorg configuration, just leaving defaults Ubuntu
settings, the DRI_PRIME procedure appears to work fine if I use metacity
as desktop, but if I use dash (Ubuntu default nowadays), I sometimes got
black windows, with the image randomly appearing or disappearing when
resizing the window.

Googling about, I have found a reference (sorry, I do not remember where
and I have not written it down) saying that DRI-3 should be used for the
Intel driver. This is accomplished by creating a file in the
/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d folder (create the folder if it does not exist), I
have named it 20-dri3.conf, with the following contents:

Section "Device"
Identifier "intel-device"
Driver "intel"
Option "DRI" "3"
EndSection

According to the reference, the BusID field should not be indicated.

Doing this, it seems that DRI_PRIME=1 works fine with both desktops,
anyway if I read the Xorg.0.log file, all references to AMDGPU have
disappeared (there are lot of them when using default xorg
configuration) which seems to indicate that xorg module admgpu is not
used (the kernel module is loaded anyway). Nevertheless, both glxinfo
and Minecraft report that the AMD card is being used (and Minecraft
performs better than without DRI_PRIME=1).

Thanks for your interest.

igbinary to be installed as well. In my case, we're running TYPO3 CMS
with redis for caching. The TYPO3 caching framework uses igbinary if
available and this breaks in really subtle ways. See
https://github.com/igbinary/igbinary/issues/114 for the particular
issue.

[Bug 1651033] [NEW] Virtual Box gives the user a few seconds to do stuff before locking

2016-12-18 Thread Eli
*** This bug is a security vulnerability ***

Public security bug reported:

I had a Windows 10 image running on Virtual Box, and I restarted the
Windows 10 image on virtual box, and left the computer (host and guest)
alone. When I came back, my monitors were turned off (like, in sleep
mode) like they were in sleep mode. When I typed in a few keys to get
everything to wake up again, I was typing into my Windows 10 image my
account password. But then, I moved my mouse over to the other monitor
(the host OS - Ubuntu Linux LTS 16.04), and started doing stuff on my
web browser (Google Chrome), a few seconds after, the screen locked
(almost like if the computer has a brain fart and was like "oh shit,
this was supposed to be locked. Let me fix my mistake.") and I had to
type in the password for the host operating system.

Doesn't this mean that the user had a few unauthorized seconds to do
stuff on the host OS, before being locked out?

Hopefully I explained this well.

[Bug 1651031] [NEW] php-igbinary package version is outdated and has various bugs

2016-12-18 Thread Tyson Andre
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 16.04 is affected, probably every Ubuntu release with php 7.0.

Installations with php 5 should be unaffected, though igbinary releases
also contain performance improvements.

This should be upgraded to 2.0.0 (on PECL) or 2.0.1. The PHP function
signatures and integration with other extensions(header files) haven't
changed.

https://github.com/igbinary/igbinary/releases mentions other bugs

https://github.com/igbinary/igbinary/pull/79 was also fixed.

ondrej's php ppa (different repo from this bug report) is also affected.

[Bug 1639776] Re: dnsmasq fails to send queries out after suspend disconnects the interface

2016-12-18 Thread Andrew
I can confirm that for this bug, I am not affected directly by suspend /
resume actions. But the DNS still randomly fails during normal operation
of the machine.

If I kill dnsmasq PID and restart it from the command line, then it
works again.

sudo /usr/sbin/dnsmasq --no-resolv --keep-in-foreground --no-hosts
--bind-interfaces --pid-file=/var/run/NetworkManager/dnsmasq.pid
--listen-address=127.0.1.1 --cache-size=0 --conf-file=/dev/null --proxy-
dnssec --enable-dbus=org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.dnsmasq --conf-
dir=/etc/NetworkManager/dnsmasq.d &

[Bug 1651019] [NEW] nm-applet not show wwan options on menu after logout/in

2016-12-18 Thread Alex Tu
Public bug reported:

With DW5811e(EM7455), mobile data connection not show on nm indicator
after logout -> login.

packages which be used:
network-manager: network-manager_1.2.2-0ubuntu0.16.04.3_amd64
nm-applet: network-manager-gnome_1.2.0-0ubuntu0.16.04.4_amd64

Steps to reproduce:
1. boot device with 4G sim card + DW5811e(EM7455) wwan card
2. check nm-applet indicator then "Mobile Braodband" could be found in menu in
normal cases.
3. logout then login
4. check nm-applet indicator then "Mobile Braodband" not shows in menu anymore.
5. but still could connect to wwan by nmcli, so looks device and networkmanager
work fine.

investigation:
* In nm-applet, it caused by device-added signal comes before mm_new_ready()
which is the call back of mm_manager_new(). And that asynchronous way was added
by 408b88cc (Dan Williams 2014-05-01:
http://paste.ubuntu.com/23639247/
* revert 408b88cc fixed this issue.

[Bug 1067444] Re: x2x exits with "bash: x2x: command not found"

2016-12-18 Thread SB Technical Services
This bug is invalid.

The problem is actually that x2x is not installed on the remote system.

x2x does not need to be installed on the local system (the one with the
controlling keyboard and mouse), rather it needs to be installed on the
system you wish to control (the remote)

[Bug 1605974] Re: usbduxsigma_firmware.bin: old version causes driver crash

2016-12-18 Thread Bernd Porr
A new firmware package has arrived and the usbduxsigma file has
certainly been updated.

-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 999 Apr 25 2016 usbduxfast_firmware.bin
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root1770 Apr 25 2016 usbdux_firmware.bin
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root8192 Nov 30 21:03 usbduxsigma_firmware.bin

So I've just cloned:
git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/firmware/linux-firmware.git
and compared it to the firmware version in the just installed ubuntu xenial
linux-firmware package:

bp1@bp1-Precision-WorkStation-T5400:/lib/firmware$ diff
./usbduxsigma_firmware.bin /tmp/linux-firmware/usbduxsigma_firmware.bin
Binary files ./usbduxsigma_firmware.bin and
/tmp/linux-firmware/usbduxsigma_firmware.bin differ
bp1@bp1-Precision-WorkStation-T5400:/lib/firmware$

Even that the timestamp has changed to Nov 30th it's still not the
version in linux-firmware.git!

Frustrating.

[Bug 1463422] Re: [Lenovo IdeaCentre A740] Doesn't poweroff on shutdown

2016-12-18 Thread Nicolas K
Hello,

Same hardware configuration as Ratrop (Lenovo A540 with same bios revision)
I use kernel 4.4.0.53, with "acpi=noirq", and have the same issue: poweroff
hangs at exit screen.

1) Could you please provide the full computer model as noted on the sticker of

[Bug 1650046] Re: application doesn't sync, it needs to be updated.

2016-12-18 Thread ayito
Hi again,

Thanks for the advice on installing 0.5.1-4, though I haven't done it
since the fix I applied solved my problem and it is just good enough for
me for the time being.

Anyway, since I also reported the bug to the developer, I also got
answers to it over there, so I invite you to go back there and read the
newer posts. They recommend me to ask for a SRU (Stable Release Update),
and will back me up in doing so, which I will be grateful if they do.
Though I am a first timer doing this and have no clue how to do it.

The link seems to be this:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates

and the proposed fix is this:
https://bitbucket.org/benallard/galileo/issues/attachments/311/benallard/galileo/1481921710.25/311/0001-Fix-fitbit-server-url.patch

As stated in the thread:
https://bitbucket.org/benallard/galileo/issues/311/a-serious-error-happened-which-is-probably

So please, do the stable release update for Yakkety Yak. I guess this is
kind of a mess of bug report, not really well formatted, but I think you
understood the problem and also can check the other thread for further
explanantions. Me being a first timer in bug reporting, next time I'll
try to adhere to the explanations mentioned in Stable Release Updates
link.

Thanks again!

[Bug 1647075] Re: Unable to enter password to decrypt filesystem on boot after upgrading kernel to 4.4.0-51

2016-12-18 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Chris Schadl, the next step is to fully reverse commit bisect from
kernel 4.4.30 to 4.4.36 in order to identify the last bad commit,
followed immediately by the first good one. Once this good commit has
been identified, it may be reviewed for backporting. Could you please do
this following
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/KernelBisection#How_do_I_reverse_bisect_the_upstream_kernel.3F
?

Please note, finding adjacent kernel versions is not fully commit
bisecting.

Also, the kernel release names are irrelevant for the purposes of
bisecting.

It is most helpful that after the fix commit (not kernel version) has
been identified, you then mark this report Status Confirmed.

Thank you for your help.

helps .
  - network-connections break (tried to monitor the system remotely, but when
the error occurs, also the ssh-connection fails)
  - the kern.log stops and contains only a few lines of rubbish:

[Bug 1645985] Re: ubuntu 1404_HWE_EOL kernel breaks Thinkpad T530 keyboard backlight operation

2016-12-18 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
rich painter, in order to allow additional upstream developers to examine the
issue, at your earliest convenience, could you please test the latest upstream
kernel available from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/?C=N;O=D ?
Please keep in mind the following:
1) The one to test is at the very top line at the top of the page (not the
daily folder).
2) The release names are irrelevant.
3) The folder time stamps aren't indicative of when the kernel actually was
released upstream.
4) Install instructions are available at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds .

If testing on your main install would be inconvenient, one may:
1) Install Ubuntu to a different partition and then test this there.
2) Backup, or clone the primary install.

If the latest kernel did not allow you to test to the issue (ex. you couldn't
boot into the OS) please make a comment in your report about this, and continue
to test the next most recent kernel version until you can test to the issue.
Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version
specifically you tested. If this issue is fixed in the mainline kernel, please
add the following tags by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil
icon, next to the word Tags, located at the bottom of the report description:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-X.Y-rcZ

Where X, and Y are the first two numbers of the kernel version, and Z is
the release candidate number if it exists.

If the mainline kernel does not fix the issue, please add the following tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream
kernel-bug-exists-upstream-X.Y-rcZ

Please note, an error to install the kernel does not fit the criteria of
kernel-bug-exists-upstream.

Also, you don't need to apport-collect further unless specifically
requested to do so.

It is most helpful that after testing of the latest upstream kernel is
complete, you mark this report Status Confirmed.

Lastly, to keep this issue relevant to upstream, please continue to test
the latest mainline kernel as it becomes available.

Thank you for your help.

** Description changed:

- System: Lenovo Thinkpad T530 laptop
- OS: ubuntu 14.04 LTS, kernel 3.19.0-66-generic 64bit
- lsb_release -rd
- Description: Ubuntu 14.04.5 LTS
- Release: 14.04
+ Using kernel 3.19.0-66-generic the keyboard backlight and screen-top
+ illuminator work.

- With the above configuration the keyboard backlights and screen-top
- illuminator work as they are supposed to.
+ However, after upgrading to kernel 4.4 the keyboard backlight and
+ screen-top illuminator come on without hitting the special keys. When it
+ returns from screen saver when I hit the return key these lights come on
+ also.

- In August I received the 1404_HWE_EOL update popup. Image taken today is
attached.
- I installed the ubuntu 1404_HWE_EOL which installed (I think) some 4.4 kernel.
-
- After installing, the keyboard backlights and screen-top illuminator
- come on without hitting the special keys. When it returns from screen
- saver when I hit the return key these lights come on also.
-
- If I reboot to the old kernel all is well. So something is broken in the
- kernel that is installed with the 1404_HWE_EOL
-
- So I deleted this new kernel for now.
-
- The popup comes up constantly for almost 4 months now, many many times
- per day. This is a huge annoyance.
-
- More seriously is that no other updates are coming in. This poses
- security issues at a minimum.
-
- Accepting the update causes the backlights and screen-top illuminator to
- go on with every screen saver operation which is just as annoying.
