[Bug 1648388] Re: Install Ubuntu16.04 in RAID1 created by Intel RSTe and the system hangs while rebooting

2016-12-25 Thread Lo

** Description changed:

  Install Ubuntu16.04 in RAID1 created by Intel RSTe no matter legacy mode or
UEFI mode.
  System hangs while rebooting

  Not found the issue in RAID0
  No issue on Ubuntu14.04
  Driver-OS inbox support

  Below as error messages
  ===
  INFO: task systemd-shutdow:1 blocked for more than 120 seconds.
  Not tainted 4.4.0-21-generic #37-Ubuntu
  "echo 0 > /proc/sys/kernel/hung_task_timeout_secs" disables this message.

  ===

  Then I edit /etc/sysctl.conf with follow commands and the system
  don't hang while rebooting

  vm.dirty_background_ratio=5
  vm.dirty_ratio=10
  kernel.panic=3
  kernel.hung_task_panic=1
  kernel.hung_task_timeout_secs=30

  But I don't know if it's an appropriate fix or not.

  Thanks

[Bug 1648183] Re: Crackling and popping sound when using headphones

2016-12-25 Thread humble_coffee
I'm also experiencing this exact issue. While it doesn't happen all the
time, it's sufficiently frequent and unpleasant that I just can't listen
to music through the audio jack. It's still an issue using the 4.9
mainline kernel. Using a USB sound card makes the problems go away.

[Bug 1652549] Re: package libkrb5support0 1.13.2+dfsg-5 failed to install/upgrade: trying to overwrite shared '/usr/share/doc/libkrb5support0/changelog.Debian.gz', which is different from other instan

2016-12-25 Thread Steve Langasek
I've verified that the contents of
/usr/share/doc/libkrb5support0/changelog.Debian.gz in libkrb5support0
1.13.2+dfsg-5 correctly matches across architectures. This looks like a
problem of local filesystem corruption on your install. You can check
this by installing the debsums package and running 'debsums
/usr/share/doc/libkrb5support0/changelog.Debian.gz', which should return
no mismatches.

Also, the correct md5sum for this file is:

$ md5sum /usr/share/doc/libkrb5support0/changelog.Debian.gz
553513278beb9f1512774d100fbd3176
/usr/share/doc/libkrb5support0/changelog.Debian.gz
$

You should be able to resolve this problem either by running 'sudo apt
install --reinstall libkrb5support0', or by manually removing
/usr/share/doc/libkrb5support0/changelog.Debian.gz, and then installing
libkrb5support0:i386.

[Bug 1651707] Re: ntpd[1243]: error resolving pool 0.ubuntu.pool.ntp.org: Name or service not known (-2)

2016-12-25 Thread Paul Gear
The global pool is certainly working and its DNS servers are resolving
correctly:

$ host 0.ubuntu.pool.ntp.org
0.ubuntu.pool.ntp.org has address 108.59.2.24
0.ubuntu.pool.ntp.org has address 129.250.35.250
0.ubuntu.pool.ntp.org has address 52.0.56.137
0.ubuntu.pool.ntp.org has address 72.14.179.135

Directly after the last occurrence of the resolver failure, your ntpd
resolved a large list of pool servers, including 5 within the same
second as the error message.

Without knowing your configuration, I'd guess this was a network-
manager-initiated restart, and your resolver setup simply wasn't
finished by the time ntpd was asking for DNS names. If you're using the
default ntp configuration (or similar to it), this will not be a
problem, because ntpd will retry the DNS lookups.

[Bug 1637179] Re: Hexchat is unstable in Ubuntu 16.10

2016-12-25 Thread Mattia Rizzolo
> So I really wish for a new official ubuntu package up-to-date.

Anyway, this won't happen, because simply packages are not updated to new
releases in stable releases (apart from few exceptions).
Also, this bug is not really actionable, as "program is unstable" is not much
to go on. Besides, I tried to run it on a clean yakkety install for a few
hours, and I didn't encounter any oddities.

If you are bleed edge software, you can consider updating to the
development version of ubuntu (zesty) in some weeks (Feature Freeze is
16th February, and after that nothing huge/breaking should happen).

If you have any particular crash or so, please report it, and that can
be probably be actually fixed; I'm closing this bug.

[Bug 1496163] Re: i915 firmware is not copied to initrd

2016-12-25 Thread Steve Langasek
Hello Jason, or anyone else affected,

Accepted initramfs-tools into trusty-proposed. The package will build
now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/initramfs-
tools/0.103ubuntu4.6 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed
repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed.Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification .  Thank you in
advance!

[Bug 375147] Re: Unicode 5.1 data missing from 20060907 release

2016-12-25 Thread JoesCat
When looking at libuninameslist, you need to think of these like you
would think of paperback books. Once these libraries are published, they
will not be updated.

Information:
It seems that each year, unicode.org updates the unicode charts with
refinements, improvements, and updates, for example, going from Unicode 8
(2015) to Unicode 9 (2016), there are a few thousand updates.

Since these charts are fluid and changing, several functions have also
been added into recent versions of libuninameslist to make it easier to
quickly query information based on which list is loaded. Existing
programs are not really needing these sort of functions at the moment,
but these functions do allow for the potential of loading different
library versions if anyone sees a need for that sort of functionality.

Summary:
Updating any particular version of libuninameslist is highly unlikely, and
timewise, you are always better-off loading a more current/recent version
unless you need to work with some very old data.

I don't see any switches allowing this bug to be closed, so it will have
to be closed by the original poster, or someone with administrative
privileges for this bug.

2016-12-25 Thread Steve Langasek
Unfortunately your bug report does not show any output from the
installation of the shim-signed package. But I notice that the contents
of your /boot/efi/efi/ubuntu directory are a bit unusual:

FSCK.000
fsck.001
FSCK.002
fsck.003
FSCK.004
FSCK.005
FSCK.006
FSCK.007
fsck.008
fw
fwupx64.efi
grub.cfg
grubx64.efi
MokManager.efi

Perhaps the installation failed because of corruption on your EFI system
partition?

[Bug 1652539] [NEW] Ubuntu GNOME should install flatpak by default

2016-12-25 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Public bug reported:

Impact
==
I believe all other GNOME distros include or will include Flatpak 0.8 in the
default install.

Once Flatpak 0.8 is available, it would be nice if Ubuntu GNOME users
could benefit it from it without having to install extra packages.

https://blogs.gnome.org/alexl/2016/12/22/a-stable-base-for-flatpak-0-8/

Test Case
=
Install the updated ubuntu-gnome-desktop
Check if 'flatpak' is installed.

Regression Potential

None. This just adds flatpak to the default install and there are no known bugs
caused by that.

Other Info
==
These are command-line tools. There is GUI support in
gnome-software-plugin-flatpak 3.22 which is only available in Ubuntu 17.04
since GNOME Software 3.22 has various dependencies that are only available
starting in that release (GTK 3.22 and PackageKit 1.1.4), but see also bug
1650783.

Ubuntu GNOME still installs Ubuntu Snap support (snapd).
