I got those error reports too. It happens when you run wget as root, and
use that directory. I changed it to use /var/tmp and the message went
away. You could also run wget without the sudo (some of the instructions I
saw have done that).

I'm on yakkety. I enabled pre-released updates "yakkety-proposed"
and I pinned it with priority 400 in /etc/apt/preferences.d/proposed-pkgs ---
that means I only upgraded the packages I chose (spyder / spyder3) and the

To really debug this, need logs. There may be number of causes if the
temperature is not really high.
There may be wrong powerlimits configured in RAPL registers. So it is better to
debug for good.

of course Ii tried that, but after you asked I tried again and again.
Doesn't work but the thing is it's totally silent. Not glitching or
anything. It seems very unlikely to me to be a hardware thing. It's a
desktop. I didn't do anything. I didn't move it at all and it happened
after a reboot.
Just a heads up - yes, I'm working on the full commit bisect. Good news,
I know it's between 4.4.0.53 and 4.4.0.54 (the glitch is present in that
version) - bad news, before I could do the next step in the bisect, I
accidentally switched my ABI (I have two compilers). Now it is

I didn't put as much work in, but exactly the same problem. Unable to
add new device using GUI. Removed all the devices as I thought that
might help. It didn't.
Added devices though the CLI. Which worked, GUI still shows no devices.
