The upstream "fix" now known and understood I agree way more with your

Upon further reflection, instead of chmod o-x, use chmod 700. Otherwise,

I'm using 16.04 and installed from the default repos with a simple "sudo
apt install libpam-fprintd", and I'm seeing the same (original)
behaviour, as in fprintd-enroll doesn't require root to change the
enrolled fingerprints (and asks for 5 swipes to confirm enrollment).

tried to follow the instructions of the "CUPS error_log" section.
Step 1.
I can't do it. Can't find "Save debugging information for
troubleshooting" on "System" -> "Administration" -> "Printing". I have
System Setting -->
dinamic, you are a star...
Unfortunately I can think of a few reasons why this might happen.
1. Unity8 server died (although you would have noticed)
2. Apparmour problems
3. Fullscreen apps may crash the server in Mir 0.26.0 (bug 1661508)
And worse, when I try to test supertux under Mir
Bug 1503971 is one of the problems I was hitting.

This happens on an ASUS ZenBook UX303UB, with nvidia-375 installed.
I'm able to connect to the host through SSH. I have run the apport-bug tool
when the display was black.

I recently get time to build kernel from source, using dpkg-buildpackage.
But there's a problem: "dpkg-buildpackage -b -d -nc" generates both generic and
low-latency kernel, which is space and time consuming. How can I specify one
build target? Thanks.

Sorry, i cannot re-playing MCP55 4GB problem (i tested 4.4.0-59 and -62, no

To add one more data point, I hit the same problem when upgrading from
Kubuntu 14.04 to 16.04.
Ondrej's workaround is also effective for my setup. In the end, the
upgraded system was unusable for other problems as well so I did a fresh
install. However, I kept the lvm volume group on luks device
Nice, adding a delay (in autostart entry) to start plank has fixed the problem.

Hi, I still have this bug in Ubuntu 16.10 with the Plank dock. Removing
it from autostart worked as a fix, but I would like to start it with the
