[Bug 1667113] Re: Libvirt Qemu appears in the list of users in Ligthdm and user switecher

2017-02-22 Thread ChristianEhrhardt
Hi,
thank you for the report - I can confirm the issue.
This was caused by fixing bug 1637601.
This was brought up on IRC two days ago and I was already polling for opinions
on the original but.

There are way more such high-id users in there and I wonder why they would not
show up.
Maybe there is some filtering mechanism that I didn't know about yet.

Adding a base-passwd task as they should be the best experts knowing how to
deal with that (Authority for allocating such IDs).
Also I'm gonna subscribe all participants of the old bug here.

[Bug 1667158] Re: Borders of pop-up windows are displayed badly

2017-02-22 Thread SunBear
I found a way to eliminate the problem (I think). I went into
CompizConfig Setting Manager --> Effects and turned off all the effects
like wobbling, water effect, motion blur and fading window). I don't not
if the problem will reoccur but so far the border problems have stopped
appearing and every thing is good again. Monitoring the situation.

[Bug 1667033] Re: nova instance console log empty

2017-02-22 Thread ChristianEhrhardt
Thanks Ryan for doing all the search work!

@James - I have prepared a preliminary zesty version in a ppa at
https://launchpad.net/~ci-train-ppa-
service/+archive/ubuntu/2512/+packages (currently building)

Since you very likely need that for your Xenial backport instead of the zesty
version I pushed the commits to my LP repo, and you might want to experiment
with those two on top of yours then:
https://git.launchpad.net/~paelzer/ubuntu/+source/qemu/commit/?id=273876e81575127d55cb6f1de700f5d96f144662
https://git.launchpad.net/~paelzer/ubuntu/+source/qemu/commit/?id=0db1cac03f93890e13b3a3152367509ff3a66457

There are a lot of CVEs for qemu 2.8 and I wanted to wait for a new Debian
release to pick those up. That will still get into zesty release, but it could
take a while, and I assume your schedule might be more aggressive.
I you happen to need this content here in zesty earlier please let me know and
I'll plan for an extra upload/testing cycle.

I also experience a similar/the same problem for upgrading from 14.04 to

[Bug 1655842] Re: "Out of memory" errors after upgrade to 4.4.0-59

2017-02-22 Thread joconcepts
Could somebody please confirm that the issue has been fixed with the
kernel 4.4.0-64.85? We had massive problems with OOM killed qemu
instances on our virtualization hosts and would not like to have this
introduced again.

[Bug 1667216] [NEW] build-attributes not documented

2017-02-22 Thread Michi Henning
Public bug reported:

I found out about this only per chance during a conversation:

https://developer.ubuntu.com/en/blog/2016/11/16/snapping-qt-apps/

As best as I can tell, build-attributes is not documented anywhere other
than this blog post. When a new feature is added to snapcraft, could we
please also document it?

Are there any values other than "no-system-libraries" that can be set
here?

[Bug 1617098] Re: Add support for option max-routes

2017-02-22 Thread Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre
Sponsored the SRU. This does not need a fix in zesty as the fix is
already applied there (via newer upstream release).

Adam Collard, please update the bug description to follow the SRU
procedures (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates#Procedure). You
will want to subscribe ~ubuntu-sru when the bug report description is
ready.

[Bug 1667198] Re: gpu-manager should also support reading kernel parameter to adding options in xorg.conf for Nvidia

2017-02-22 Thread Alex Tu
** Description changed:

This feature has been implemented for Intel (ex. gpumanager_uxa), which
is parsing kernel parameter to add option in xorg.conf (commit
  ff3a4e54).

And now Nvidia also need this feature to add Option "nvidiaXineramaInfo"
  "off" to fix some issues.

Btw, I'm thinking it might be a more flexible to have a config file
which user could add all options as they want so that we could prevent
keeping change gpu-manager when some more options are needed in the
  future.

2017-02-22 Thread Rogério Theodoro de Brito
Public bug reported:

Hi.

The package python{,3}-selenium uses a hardcoded path of
'/usr/lib/chromium/chromedriver' when instantiating a Chrome webdriver.

That path is correct for Debian (in particular, it was directly
inherited from https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-
bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=805733#5), but since Ubuntu uses chromium-browser
instead of Debian's chromium naming. The package chromium-chromedriver
in Ubuntu installs the webdriver at '/usr/lib/chromium-
browser/chromedriver'.

There needs to be a synchronization between the selenium Python module
and the webdriver package.

Thanks,

Rogério Brito.

[Bug 1663975] Re: XHCI errors causes dock USB and network adapter dropouts

2017-02-22 Thread leee
Hi - sorry for the delay in response. I wanted to wait until the final
4.10 was released, and then had some prior obligations I had to tend to
until now.

I and colleagues with the same machine (which rules out a hardware
problem) experienced this problem out of the box with 16.04.1 (which
provides 4.4).

While on 16.04.1, I tested with 4.4, 4.9 and 4.10 (rc8), and on 16.04.2,
I tested with 4.8 and 4.10 (final).

All tested kernels have me run into the exact same xhci_hcd error about
`TRB DMA ptr`.

[Bug 1313436] Re: Unity/Compiz very slow after resume from suspend

2017-02-22 Thread Kai-Heng Feng
Leonard,

I think it's not related to Unity, what happens here is something like
[1],

"A bug was reported that on certain Broadwell platforms, after resuming from S3,
the CPU is running at an anomalously low speed.

It turns out that the BIOS has modified the value of the THERM_CONTROL register
during S3, and changed it from 0 to 0x10, thus enabled clock modulation(bit4),
but with undefined CPU Duty Cycle(bit1:3) - which causes the problem."

So basically the "right fix" should come from BIOS, in generally I think
Dell is doing a good job at updating BIOS.

If they don't want to fix this at their side, you should file a bug at
[2].

[Bug 1667198] [NEW] gpu-manager should also support reading kernel parameter to adding options in xorg.conf for Nvidia

2017-02-22 Thread Alex Tu
Public bug reported:

This feature has been implemented for Intel (ex. gpumanager_uxa), which
is parsing kernel parameter to add option in xorg.conf (commit
ff3a4e54).

And now Nvidia also need this feature to add Option "nvidiaXineramaInfo"
"off" to fix some issues.

Btw, I'm thinking it might be a more flexible to have a config file
which user could add all options as they want so that we could prevent
keeping change gpu-manager when some more options are needed in the
future.

[Bug 1667195] [NEW] Drop mdbtools-gmdb from main

2017-02-22 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Public bug reported:

It looks like mdbtools-gmdb is keeping several obsolete packages in main
such as libbonoboui, libgnomecanvas, and libgnomeui.

Perhaps mdbtools could be demoted entirely to universe. It's listed in
the platform.zesty seed in supported-misc-servers, Database section.
Its only reverse dependency in main is an alternate Suggests from

Please at least demote mdbtools-gmdb to universe.

[Bug 1107935] Re: Support for WPA Enterprise wireless networks

2017-02-22 Thread Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre
I'll review this; but from a quick look, it seems like it should be more
efficient to get NM to prompt the user for the right credentials in a
separate window (ie. as it would already be done if you were to click on
the network from the indicator), instead of requiring password entry
from the ubiquity dialog. It would make Ubiquity less complex that way
since we already have NM available in both live and ubiquity-dm
sessions.

[Bug 1667014] Re: Mir hangs when requesting a buffer with no pixel format

2017-02-22 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Yeah the new approach to resizing looks wordy. It would be nice if we
could simplify that for everyone... or just keep some kind of flag for
"this stream should automatically resize with the window by default".
That covers the vast majority of existing toolkits and apps.

[Bug 1659159] Re: KeePass 2.35 is not nice to your clipboard

2017-02-22 Thread Bud Manz
I am on Linux Mint 18.1 with the Cinnamon desktop and I haven't seen the
behavior listed here, so here is my 2 cents worth...

The only way I have successfully copied anything out of KeePass 2.35 is
to right-click on the record, then paste it into either a text editor,
such as Leafpad or Xed, copy it from there, then I can paste it where-
ever. This is fairly annoying and I agree wth @dlech that this should
be a critical bug.

Another weird thing is that if I copy out of KeePass2 and right click
into, say, PhpStorm or the Gnome Terminal, the paste link is grayed out,
but if I go to a text editor or whatever, and paste, it will paste
whatever was in the clipboard before!

[Bug 1666178] Re: Legacy apps are crashing in mir_create_modal_dialog_window_spec() due to NULL parent pointer

2017-02-22 Thread Daniel van Vugt
OK, from the duplicate bug I can see the common theme. We either have
buggy toolkits, or just some legacy apps expect to create "modal"
dialogs without a parent window. I'm not sure if that's an app bug, but
Mir will certainly abort() if you ask for that.

** Summary changed:

[Bug 1666833] Re: GTK overlay scrollbars never appear at small window sizes

2017-02-22 Thread Daniel van Vugt
In that case this might not be an "overlay" scrollbars bug but just a
Nautilus bug.

** Also affects: nautilus (Ubuntu)
   Importance: Undecided
   Status: New

** Changed in: canonical-devices-system-image
   Status: New => Invalid

** Description changed:

- GTK overlay scrollbars never appear at small window sizes, at least in
- Unity8.
+ GTK overlay scrollbars never appear at small window sizes in zesty (but
+ works in xenial).

  Test case:
- 1. In Unity8 launch "Files".
- 2. Navigate to a folder with lots of files/icons.
- 3. Resize the window as small as it will go.
- 4. Slowly move the mouse so the cursor enters from the right side of the
window.
+   1. Launch "Files" (nautilus binary)
+   2. Navigate to a folder with lots of files/icons.
+   3. Resize the window as small as it will go.
+   4. Slowly move the mouse so the cursor enters from the right side of the
window.

  Expected: Overlay scrollbars appear
Observed: Overlay scrollbars never appear (unless the window is bigger)

[Bug 1667187] [NEW] Font fallback/rendering issue when CJK text appears

2017-02-22 Thread LiTuX Sol
Public bug reported:

This issue can be found in kubuntu 16.04 and 16.10, other version are
not tested

When text include east Asian characters, but the font do not include
glyph of those characters, text were cropped so part of a character is
invisible.

This issue exist in konsole, kate/kwrite, konquerer (when opening a text
file), but not in kmail.

How to reproduce:
Using the live CD, select a corresponding language (Chinese, Japanese or
Korean), booting into desktop, opening konsole, and run `ls -l`. The rendering
of the output text is abnormal.

Copying the output into kate and kmail, see the differences.

See attachments for demo.

[Bug 1015886] Re: gmapbase.html is missing in gpsbabel-gui

2017-02-22 Thread Pascal Mons
Since Google Code is now dead, the project has been moved to GitHub and
the URL of the file is:

https://github.com/gpsbabel/gpsbabel/blob/master/gui/gmapbase.html

However this file is present in the source tarball and is however
missing from the gpsbabel-gui package.

This is a debian folder error.

I will recompile it in my soon to be GPS PPA.

[Bug 1583088] Re: Randomly corrupt font / text / characters in Unity8

2017-02-22 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Assuming the current value is 4 might be incorrect in this case but also
won't cause the bug unless they also fail to call
"glPixelStorei(GL_UNPACK_ALIGNMENT, 4)" somewhere that they need it to
be 4.

Where you see Qt code that uses alignment 1, that's not relevant here
because it will play perfectly with Mir. The problem is elsewhere...
some GL unpacking without a glPixelStorei call is being done and that
location expects/requires alignment of 4.

So I guess start by searching for all glTexImage2D calls and ensure they
are all /immediately/ preceded by glPixelStorei. It's possible Qt
already has some housekeeping for that but then the bind call happens in
the middle:

Qt: glPixelStorei(GL_UNPACK_ALIGNMENT, 4);
Qt: calls the offending Mir bind code
Qt: glTexSubImage2D or glTexImage2D

So the fix then would still be in qtdeclarative; either reorder lines 1
& 2, or add another glPixelStorei call in before the glTex*Image2D calls
in Qt.

[Bug 1667157] Re: Toolkit doesn't change the layout when using an RTL language

2017-02-22 Thread Adnane Belmadiaf
** Description changed:

Passing LANGUAGE="ar_MA.utf8" LANG="ar_MA.utf8" to the toolkit gallery
doesn't change the layout direction, adding some debug statements gives
  me :

  QGuiApplication::layoutDirection() :  Qt::LayoutDirection(LeftToRight)
  QLocale::system().name() :  "ar_MA"

- The RTL locale gets loaded and the strings got translated but the layout
- is still Qt::LayoutDirection(LeftToRight)
-
Forcing the RTL layout in src/UbuntuToolkit/ucapplication.cpp makes the
- layoutDirection to change to Qt::LayoutDirection(RightToLeft) :
+ layoutDirection change to Qt::LayoutDirection(RightToLeft) :

  QGuiApplication::setLayoutDirection(Qt::RightToLeft);

after that i get the correct value :

  QGuiApplication::layoutDirection() :  Qt::LayoutDirection(RightToLeft)
  QLocale::system().name() :  "ar_MA"

[Bug 1667160] [NEW] Kernel panic with 4.8.0-1025 and -1026 on RasPi 2

2017-02-22 Thread Markus Birth
Public bug reported:

I have a Raspberry Pi 2 running Ubuntu 16.10 without problems. I use
wicd to let it connect to my WiFi with a RTL8188CUS USB dongle. And
there's a RTL2838 DVB-T USB stick attached to monitor airplane positions
for Flightradar24.

After updateing the kernel from 4.8.0-1024, which runs flawlessly, to
-1025, there's a kernel panic happening 10-20 seconds after booting up
to the login prompt. I thought the -1026 fixed that, but it's still no
worky. The trace is scrolling so fast I can't read anything but the last
page:
