[Bug 1670905] Re: qemu-debootstrap inserts debian repos into the chroot
Hi Alistair, yes that matches 100% what I have found and is the reason I added a bug task for debootstrap. Sorry if I didn't sum it up so well, but yeah - I agree that the root cause is the lack of an ability to pass such info to second stage (or alternatively that second stage knows how to handle better what it finds from first stage in such cases). I kept the qemu-debootstrap task since if debootstrap develops something to be passed to second stage that needs modification of the second stage call that would have to be changed there. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1670905 Title: qemu-debootstrap inserts debian repos into the chroot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/debootstrap/+bug/1670905/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1670905] Re: qemu-debootstrap inserts debian repos into the chroot
Thinking about it, it actually wouldn't make too much sense to fix that in the Ubuntu Delta of the two packages. This bug is present in Debian too. So it would be best fixed in Debian, and then Ubuntu will pick it up on the next merge. Would you mind filing bug(s) with Debian please? [Bug 1671360] [NEW] System doesn't boot properly on AMD Ryzen / Gigabyte GA-AB350-gaming-3
Public bug reported: I'm trying to run ubuntu on Ryzen 1700x with Gigabyte GA-AB350-gaming-3 motherboard, and it has a load of problems, starting with not being able to boot normally. During normal boot, on 16.10 as well as 17.04 beta: system doesn't boot normally, hangs with a lot of "unexpected irq trap at vector 07" messages displayed. Following advice from various places, I've tried:disable cpu freq governor and cpu handling in acpi settings 1. add "acpi=off" to boot params That helps, allowing me to boot into recovery mode, though it leaves me with system seeing only one core, is really slow and still only boots in recovery mode. 2. Compile own kernel using 4.11.rc1 and disabling cpu freq governor and cpu handling in acpi settings. Boot with "quiet loglevel=3" option. That gets me even further - system sees all cores now. Still only recovery mode though, but its enough to get info for this bug report. Some observed problems: 1. dmesg reports *a lot* of messages like this all the time: [ 163.362068] ->handle_irq(): 87a7e090, [ 163.362081] bad_chained_irq+0x0/0x40 [ 163.362089] ->handle_irq(): 87a7e090, [ 163.362090] amd_gpio_irq_handler+0x0/0x200 [ 163.362090] ->irq_data.chip(): 88587e20, [ 163.362090] ioapic_ir_chip+0x0/0x120 [ 163.362090] ->action(): 884601c0 [ 163.362091]IRQ_NOPROBE set [ 163.362099] ->handle_irq(): 87a7e090, [ 163.362099] amd_gpio_irq_handler+0x0/0x200 [ 163.362100] ->irq_data.chip(): 88587e20, [ 163.362100] ioapic_ir_chip+0x0/0x120 [ 163.362101] ->action(): 884601c0 I've tried to redirect dmesg to a file, stopped after a short while, it generated 400M of those. 2. Systemd cannot start journald. Perhaps because it cannot cope with amount of kernel logs? 3. Looking at pci, I've noticed something called AMDI0040 (/sys/bus/acpi/devices/AMDI0040, path=_SB_.EMMC), among AMDI0010, AMDI0020, AMDI0030. Those however are mentioned in kernel source, kernel and google are completely silent about AMDI0040. Phoronix tested ryzen using different motherboard, and it worked better (though not well), so I suspect it is an issue with motherboard. ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Incomplete ** Attachment added: "kernel config, lspci, dmesg messages and other info I could get" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1671360/+attachment/4834330/+files/report.tgz -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1671360 Title: System doesn't boot properly on AMD Ryzen / Gigabyte GA-AB350-gaming-3 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1671360/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1671355] [NEW] Outdated gnome-session files break System Settings menu
Public bug reported: The System Settings menu stopped working since Trusty. The reason is that the included gnome-session files are out of date: they use gnome- settings-daemon, but the required gnome-control-center is no longer installed by default. While installing that package makes it "work," I believe the correct fix is to do exactly what gnome-session-metacity already does, and use unity-settings-daemon/unity-control-center instead. The two files that need updating appear to have been cloned from gnome- flashback-metacity at some point in the past, and not gotten updated since. It's easy to just overwrite them with new ones: cd /usr/share/gnome-session/sessions && sed 's/metacity/xmonad/g' gnome-flashback-metacity > gnome-flashback-xmonad sed 's/metacity/xmonad/g' /usr/lib/gnome-flashback/gnome-flashback- metacity > /usr/bin/gnome-flashback-xmonad With these two changes, it works perfectly: unity-settings-daemon is running, and the Systems Settings menu brings up unity-control-panel. As an aside, that second file belongs in /usr/lib/gnome-flashback/, not /usr/bin. If moving it, simply update /usr/share/xsessions/gnome- flashback-xmonad.desktop with the new location. [Bug 1575437] Re: Asus ZenBook UX501VW frequently hangs during boot under Ubuntu 16.04
Adric Norris, the next step is to fully commit bisect from kernel 4.3.5 to 4.4 in order to identify the last good kernel commit, followed immediately by the first bad one. This will allow for a more expedited analysis of the root cause of your issue. Could you please do this following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/KernelBisection ? Please note, finding adjacent kernel versions, or providing a commit from a kernel version bisect is not fully commit bisecting. Also, the kernel release names are irrelevant for the purposes of bisecting. It is most helpful that after the fix commit (not kernel version) has been identified, you then mark this report Status Confirmed. [Bug 1639517] Re: [HP Pavilion Notebook - 17-g164ng] black screen when booting
FFab, in order to allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue, at your earliest convenience, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/?C=N;O=D ? Please keep in mind the following: 1) The one to test is at the very top line at the top of the page (not the daily folder). 2) The release names are irrelevant. 3) The folder time stamps aren't indicative of when the kernel actually was released upstream. 4) Install instructions are available at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds . If testing on your main install would be inconvenient, one may: 1) Install Ubuntu to a different partition and then test this there. 2) Backup, or clone the primary install. If the latest kernel did not allow you to test to the issue (ex. you couldn't boot into the OS) please make a comment in your report about this, and continue to test the next most recent kernel version until you can test to the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this issue is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon, next to the word Tags, located at the bottom of the report description: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-X.Y-rcZ Where X, and Y are the first two numbers of the kernel version, and Z is the release candidate number if it exists. If the mainline kernel does not fix the issue, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-X.Y-rcZ Please note, an error to install the kernel does not fit the criteria of kernel-bug-exists-upstream. Also, you don't need to apport-collect further unless specifically requested to do so. It is most helpful that after testing of the latest upstream kernel is complete, you mark this report Status Confirmed. Lastly, to keep this issue relevant to upstream, please continue to test the latest mainline kernel as it becomes available. Thank you for your help. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1639517 Title: [HP Pavilion Notebook - 17-g164ng] black screen when booting To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1639517/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

It would be better in the long run to fix the Mir architecture (separate on-top from keyboard focus). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1625846 Title: Xmir -rootless: Firefox menus pop up then close right away To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-system-image/+bug/1625846/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
