Part of the problem is that any directory inside datadir will be treated as a 
schema, which could produce some pretty odd results in this case.
While changing mysqld --initialize to ignore this directory would fix the 
failure and be safe, to avoid having it be read as a schema we'd need to add 
the same to the default server config, which I'm a bit more reluctant to do, 
though granted it's not very likely that people will want a schema named 
lost+found :)
As a first step we could add a check to detect the situation (since it does 
seem to be a fairly common use case), and add a warning explaining the issue.

listed update was regarding a GTK theme I have installed. I don't know
if using the update service triggered the error or not. Right now the

mariadb-server-10.0 was installed an then mysql-server-5.7 attempted to
install over the top. Their tables are different. Purge out your data

This looks like you've copied some idb install files from a different
server. This isn't supported. It has to be the entire datadir. I suggest

Hello,

After doing some testing (see log) on a fresh install of linux mint I have 
figure out that the issue isn't with the network-manager-openvpn package it's 
just with the network-manager package.
To test this I just upgraded network-manager-openvpn from each version to see 
when bug occurred (and restarted network-manger service each time) but the bug 
never happened. When I upgraded network-manager to 1.2.6-0ubuntu0.16.04.1 the 
bug was there immediately after restarting network service.

There is an issue logged here with a lot of attention that matches the 
description.

seems as though zabbix-server-mysql is pulling in mysql-server-5.7 even
though mariadb-server was installed a few days earlier. Surely it can
work with both?

There also doesn't seem to be a mysql-common installed before mysql-
server-core was installed.

"InnoDB: Error number 28 means 'No space left on device'" seems pretty
conclusive to me. You can't install mysql without disk space. Your
Df.txt doesn't show it but it was out of space at the time of install.

I've also seen the same issue (but less frequently) with neutron.

Seems to occur mostly frequently in Launchpad builders which are 4 Core,
4GB RAM, 4GB swap.

Relatively easy to reproduce on an instance of the same spec but running
two instances of the same build in parallel using sbuild.

Hi, I know this isn't my thread but I'm trying to help. I am seeing the
crash of the VM during a Windows Server Backup with the latest kernel
4.4.0-67. I installed the kernel from comment 42 referenced in the other
thread. It did make a difference. I will post screenshots of the
results.

Side note - I am a noob to installing patches like this. I tried using the 3rd
technique here:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/Dev/KernelTesting

and pointed to: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~jsalisbury/lp1674635/revert/

then did apt-get update, but I got a message similar to this:
W: The repository '...' does not have a Release file.
N: Data from such a repository can't be authenticated and is therefore
potentially dangerous to use.
N: See apt-secure(8) manpage for repository creation and user configuration
details.
E: Failed to fetch ... 404 Not Found
E: Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones
used instead.

So... I did wget and dpkg -i for each of the 12 files in the directory.

I solved this problem by installing zeitgeist (apt-get install
zeitgesit). Activity Journal is just a viewer, which can't display any
