upgrade from 14.04 to 16.04 did this. I copy file to documents. I removed said
file from apt dir.
sudo rm... ok, then apt worked with no more N: msg

Just had this issue on a AD2550R/U3S3 motherboard with Ubuntu 16.04.2
Server. Installation display works fine, post installation display no
longer works after a quick text scroll (doesn't get to login.)
Intel GMA 3600 GPU had no display output and wasn't fixed my nomodeset
or other GMA related
Because the code can be applied in many kernel post-installation
scripts, I have attached it in Bug #1501884 and further updates go
there.

Me too.
Turns out the problem for me is updating *while* copying a hard-drive
(in another terminal).
The "update-initramfs" script calls "sync" in the "generate_initramfs"
function. For me, copying hard-drives at the same time caused "sync" to
hang: Then the whole thing hangs.

Ubuntu Budgie is the only OS that cannot turn put displays to sleep.
Ubuntu Mate 17.04 works just fine inside the VM

While on battery, i tried to install bios firmware from Ubuntu Software.
Clicking "install" in the update tab grayed it out for a second, and
then restored back to being clickable. I tried it several times without
any failure notifications, but it was clearly not doing
This happens for me too with files of a few GB sometimes on ULTS 14 with
RSYNC 3.1.0.
> It also works, when I try rsync with -W option at client side.
Same, and for me it works also when specifying '--block-size 4096'.
What this makes me suspect is that the remote 'rsync' process takes too
long
I see this has been open for a few years now. Is there anything we can
do to help speed it along? I'm open to sponsoring it, testing new code,
whatever.

Hi guys, I tried nextized's kernels above at Mint 18.1 and each of them
worked (AX370-Gaming5). However I wanted to keep up with the latest
kernels, and am now running Fedora without a hitch.
I then tried booting OpenSuSE Tumbleweed and got different error
messages/kernel panic that seemed to be
