[Bug 1722448] [NEW] 16.04 VMware Guest Freezes - Killing compiz unfreezes
Public bug reported: I used 14.04 for many years with this problem, but recently "upgraded" to 16.04. Since then using multiple monitors causes X to randomly freeze. After searching similar bugs I found that a "killall -9 compiz" from an SSH login un-freezes it. However, if the system gets into this state once, it happens more frequently. I found the problem occurred when using multiple workspaces on multiple monitors, so I stopped using multiple workspaces. To my surprise, the problem continued to happen. [Bug 1716047] Re: rustc control file contains unsupported restriction formulas in control file
Our builds use germinate to create a custom ISO installer. Germinate attempts to parse all of the index files from an APT repository including Sources. The rustc source package contains restriction formulas which are too new (read as: schema change) for germinate and/or python-apt to understand and it errors out. If anyone attempted to rebuild rustc using trusty using pbuilder, it won't work for the same reason. (This leads me to conclude that whomever built the binary rustc packages for this trusty backport did not do so on a trusty system). There are zero other content changes required, just removal of the unsupported restriction formulas in the Build-Depends* fields of the control file. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1716047 Title: rustc control file contains unsupported restriction formulas in control file To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rustc/+bug/1716047/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1721735] Re: UbuntuOne auth dialog is displayed when polkit auth dialog is dismissed
The cause of this is the Polkit failure is reported back via snapd as a general unauthorized failure. GNOME Software then attempts to do a snap login which is the old method of gaining authorization. There seem to be two solutions to this: 1. snapd should report the auth failure with an error code so that GNOME Software can tell this is a Polkit failure and not a login credentials failure. James said this change was unlikely to be done in time for artful. 2. GNOME Software could stop attempting to login on an auth failure. This would mean that the Ubuntu One dialog is never shown for snaps, which is probably appropriate as Polkit covers this case. It means we can't see private snaps from GNOME Software (since we never prompt for login), but this was always going to be the case after we switched to Polkit. To handle private snaps we will have to rethink the UI to support optional login support. I think the most appropriate solution is 2 with a versioned dependency on snapd. We probably can't do this until snapd lands in the archive? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1721735 Title: UbuntuOne auth dialog is displayed when polkit auth dialog is dismissed To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-software/+bug/1721735/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1722434] [NEW] stack frame size detection is broken
Public bug reported: As reported in https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=878107 The patch, as Ondřej says, clearly shouldn't be able to make anything worse, appears likely to fix the current mariadb-10.1 dep8 failure on s390x and ppc64el, and likely may fix other latent bugs on those architectures, so I intend to upload it. I think it's possible that the fix will also fix the current FTBFS (bug 1718373). If it doesn't, then the FTBFS will remain, but I don't think the package state will be any worse with this patch in it. ** Affects: pcre3 (Ubuntu) Importance: High Status: Triaged ** Affects: pcre3 (Debian) Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown ** Changed in: pcre3 (Ubuntu) Status: New => Triaged ** Changed in: pcre3 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => High ** Bug watch added: Debian Bug tracker #878107 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=878107 ** Also affects: pcre3 (Debian) via https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=878107 Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1722434 Title: stack frame size detection is broken To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pcre3/+bug/1722434/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1721852] Re: JavaFX support is in upstream OpenJDK 9 but missing in Ubuntu OpenJDK 9
The OpenJFX source tree is separate from the OpenJDK sources, but its modules are included as input into the OpenJDK build process. For the OpenJFX source tree, see here: Getting the Sources https://wiki.openjdk.java.net/display/OpenJFX/Building+OpenJFX#BuildingOpenJFX-GettingtheSources Packaging it with the OpenJDK is described here: Integration with OpenJDK 9 https://wiki.openjdk.java.net/display/OpenJFX/Building+OpenJFX#BuildingOpenJFX-IntegrationwithOpenJDK9 which says: -- Build OpenJFX first. Configure the JDK with the following addition: --with-import-modules=_path_to_openjfx/9-dev/build/modular-sdk Then build the JDK as normal. -- I built OpenJFX many times, but I have not yet tried this new procedure for including it in OpenJDK 9. I'm willing to help and try it myself if you run into any problems. [Bug 1716047] Re: rustc control file contains unsupported restriction formulas in control file
Thank you for the report and the patch! > This is breaking our builds which run germinate which calls on APT to parse various APT files... Whose builds? Please can you explain what you're actually trying to do? As this doesn't affect newer releases, I'd normally ask you to go through https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates to get a fix into Trusty, which includes justification that the fix should land under SRU criteria. But rustc entered Trusty through the security update process. I'm guessing (but am not sure) that it was required for a Firefox security update. Given that it is quite special, I think we really need to understand your use case in order to know what process to use to fix it. I subscribed Chris in case he is able to just drop the build profile specifiers in a subsequent backport. ** Changed in: rustc (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1716047 Title: rustc control file contains unsupported restriction formulas in control file To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rustc/+bug/1716047/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1713621] Re: Return the ability (setting) to move the Show Applications icon to the left (or top) of the dock
Reopened because a third person has requested this today. Didier's reason for saying "Won't Fix" makes some sense when the dock is on the left. [Bug 1720149] Re: gnome-shell segv on wake from display or system sleep
Rachel, We are tracking hundreds of gnome-shell crashes right now and have had a few recent ones related to monitor configurations too. In order to make progress on this bug we either need a stack trace (look in /var/crash for crash files), or someone who experiences the problem to debug it remotely (use a second machine to attach a debugger to gnome-shell and get a trace of the crash that way). My concern is that the problem description without a stack trace is so vague it can easily be mistaken for some other bug. So please try to gather that additional information.
