[Bug 1727168] Re: Only use a header bar in GNOME shell

2017-10-24 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Is there any flavor which uses nautilus and would like to have that
change? Otherwise it would probably make sense to lower our number of
Ubuntu specific changes and recommend users who want a traditional
menubar to use another file manager (they are some based on nautilus in
the archive which don't use headerbars)

I just updated my macbook air (2013) from Ubuntu 16.04 to 17.10, and the

be X-specific and involving editing X config files. `xinput list`

[Bug 1690485] Re: openssh-server SIGSYS with 'UsePrivilegeSeparation sandbox'

2017-10-24 Thread KEVIN KENNY
Upgraded to 17.10. Uninstalled and reinstalled openssh-client, openssh-
server (including loading a fresh /usr/etc/ssh directory).

Still fails.

I attach the output of:
sudo strace -f -e trace=socket /usr/sbin/sshd -d 2>&1 | tee sshd.result.txt

All the other configuration is as before.

What other information can I get for you so as not to just get this
issue closed again?

I've downloaded source, but of course it configures to run from
/usr/local. What are the correct flags for ./configure to get it to
build the way Ubuntu builds it and install to the Ubuntu paths?
Alternatively, where can I find out how to run the daemon from
/usr/local/sbin instead of /usr/sbin? (That would allow me to configure
the extra debugging information requested in the second comment.)

** Attachment added: "Output of strace - showing the 'socket' call in the child
process."

[Bug 1727164] [NEW] chrome freeze on console with novnc after restarting console

2017-10-24 Thread Seyeong Kim
Public bug reported:

[Impact]

after deploying openstack.

On, horizon, chrome freezes when restarting vm via console.

I analyzed something for this.

ubuntu's novnc version is 0.4.0 which is very old version.

test pkg 0.6.1 [1] is working fine ( need to remove cached data on
chrome )

and 0.5.1 + commit[2] is working fine.

I tried backport this commit[2] to 0.4.0.

but it's too far from 0.4.0 and quite many different commits between
them.

novnc may need to be upgraded to 0.6.1

Thanks.

[Bug 1727053] Re: Ubuntu cant be installed, Problem with CD drive or something else

2017-10-24 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. I noticed that you are installing an End of Life version
of Ubuntu, unless you have some specific requirements to run an older
insecure release I recommend trying to install the latest LTS version of
Ubuntu. We released version 16.04, in April of 2016, and it is a Long
Term Support release. You can find different ways to obtain it at
http://download.ubuntu.com.  Thanks!

[Bug 1727160] [NEW] alt-tabbing out of a fullscreen game and back in causes the game to not come back fullscreen

2017-10-24 Thread Steve Barcomb
Public bug reported:

Launch any game full screen on steam (Civ5 is a good example) and alt-
tab. When you alt-tab back to the game it will not be full screen, but
windowed and slightly down and right from where it should be. Some
applications have alt-enter to switch from windowed to fullscreen and
toggling that will work (0 AD) is a good example. Most do not.

[Bug 1720442] Re: Software (gnome-software) crashes after several seconds. Entirely unusable.

2017-10-24 Thread Robert Ancell
Thanks Dan! Looks like snapd can return broken snaps we're not handling. The
JSON for the broken snap is:
{
 "apps":[{"snap":"nominal-roll-generator","name":"node-service"}],
 "broken":"cannot read snap \"nominal-roll-generator\": cannot find installed
snap \"nominal-roll-generator\" at revision x20",
 "channel":"",
 "confinement":"",
 "contact":"",
 "description":"",
 "developer":"",
 "devmode":true,
 "icon":"",
 "id":"",
 "install-date":"0001-01-01T00:00:00Z",
 "installed-size":0,
 "jailmode":false,
 "name":"nominal-roll-generator",
 "private":false,
 "resource":"/v2/snaps/nominal-roll-generator",
 "revision":"x20",
 "status":"active",
 "summary":"",
 "tracking-channel":"",
 "trymode":true,
 "type":"",
 "version":""
}

It's the blank type and id fields that is causing GNOME Software to
crash. The "broken" field is a new one I haven't seen.

[Bug 1723874] Re: First installation of a snap reports an error "Connection reset by peer"

2017-10-24 Thread Robert Ancell
I have yet to test this in a real case but this change should fix this
issue:

commit 4014cc5f0c904ea154221fa95a4e12ae90bc811f (HEAD -> master, origin/master,
origin/HEAD)
Author: Robert Ancell
Date:   Wed Oct 25 16:52:36 2017 +1300

Connect to snapd on demand.

This is required since snapd can restart during an async request (e.g.
install).
We need to reconnect to check the install completed.
This means snapd_client_connect() now does nothing.

[Bug 1727158] [NEW] lscpu shows incorrect instantaneous CPU MHz value

2017-10-24 Thread David Oswald
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 17.10:

lscpu has the following fields of interest to this report:

Model name:  Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2700K CPU @ 3.50GHz

CPU MHz: 3499.996
CPU max MHz: 5900.
CPU min MHz: 1600.

The CPU MHz field is incorrect: At idle it never shows down-step, and
at full load, it never shows the CPU's boost frequency (which should be
up to about 4.6GHz on my system).

This was working correctly under Ubuntu 17.04, showing the full range
between 1600 and 4600. But with Ubuntu 17.10 it remains constantly at
the CPU's design spec of 3499.996.

Hi Daniel, thanks for your comments.

I noted this issue initially with proposed zesty (bluez 5.43-0ubuntu1.1
and 4.10.0-38-generic kernel), and filed this report on zesty with
ubuntu-bug.

And then I recalled when I was playing around with proposed xenail
(bluez 5.37-0ubuntu5.1 and 4.4.0-98.121 kernel) and it seems that I had
the same issue. I need to go back to confirm my memory.

[Bug 1725888] Re: Ubuntu 17.10: clipboard contents lost if app is closed (Wayland)

2017-10-24 Thread dennyg...@gmail.com
Sebastian Bacher, copying between any two programs currently doesn't
work unless both programs stay open. i.e., if I open a text editor and
copy the contents, then close the text editor and go to another program
(or the same text editor), the copied data will be gone. that's why you
need a clipboard manager.
