[Bug 1733036] [NEW] xscreensaver package should require xfonts-100dpi or xfonts-75dpi to be installed
Public bug reported: By default, when the xscreensaver package is installed, the bitmapped fonts it is programmed to use may not be present. In this case, any missing fonts default to "fixed" and the result is a very small font size on modern screens. The fonts xscreensaver daemon uses are part of the "Helvetica" family. On a system lacking the correct fonts, "xlsfonts -fn '*-helvetica-*'" results in no matches. Adding the xfonts-100dpi or xfonts-75dpi packages fixes the problem with the missing fonts in both xscreensaver daemon and the hacks that depend on bitmapped fonts (e.g., memscroller), so adding these packages as dependencies should improve users' experience with the packaged xscreensaver. ** Affects: xscreensaver (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1733036 Title: xscreensaver package should require xfonts-100dpi or xfonts-75dpi to be installed To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xscreensaver/+bug/1733036/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1733033] [NEW] drag-and-drop suddenly stops working in app running under Wayland until I restart app
Public bug reported: Many times since I upgraded to 17.10 and started using GNOME on Wayland as my desktop, I've found in Thunderbird that I suddenly stopped being able to drag and drop messages into folders. I can click and hold the message and drag it, but when I hover my mouse over the destination folder nothing happens. This seems to be a problem related to gnome-shell + Wayland, because after like the nth time it happened I was sufficiently annoyed that I decided to find out if it would occur under Xorg, and in the week+ since I switched to from Wayland to Xorg it hasn't happened a single time. ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 17.10 Package: gnome-shell 3.26.1-0ubuntu5 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.13.0-16.19-generic 4.13.4 Uname: Linux 4.13.0-16-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.7-0ubuntu3.4 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: ubuntu:GNOME Date: Fri Nov 17 21:37:58 2017 DisplayManager: gdm3 InstallationDate: Installed on 2017-05-19 (182 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 17.04 "Zesty Zapus" - Release amd64 (20170412) SourcePackage: gnome-shell UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to artful on 2017-10-20 (28 days ago) ** Affects: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug artful third-party-packages -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1733033 Title: drag-and-drop suddenly stops working in app running under Wayland until I restart app To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1733033/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1733032] [NEW] touchpad disable while typing, disable tap-to-click don't work in 17.10
Public bug reported: Since upgrading to 17.10, my mouse pointer is repeatedly and frequently getting moved against my will when I am typing on my laptop keyboard (as opposed to external keyboard) because my hand brushes against the touchpad or even just near its surface. Furthermore, I don't want tap-to-click to be enabled. I want to actually have to push down on the mousepad hard enough to click it to generate a mouse button event. I can't figure out how to disable tap-to-click in 17.10 either. I did not have these problems _at all_ in 17.04. I have the touchpad click method set to "Areas" and "Disable While Typing" enabled in gnome-tweak-tool. This does not help. I have these lines in the touchpad section of /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/40-libinput.conf as well: Option "DisableWhileTyping" "true" Option "PalmDetection" "true" Option "Tapping" "false" They don't help either. This is a substantial regression in functionality from 17.04. It appears to be a problem using both Wayland and Xorg. [Bug 1731994] Re: Update linux-azure and linux-azure-edge kernels with 4.13 patches
Hi, Josh. Both the following patch: 4.13/hv_netvsc-Add-ethtool-handler-to-set-and-get-UDP-has.patch and its corresponding upstream commit: 4823eb2f3af4 hv_netvsc: Add ethtool handler to set and get UDP hash levels include UDP ports by default in the vRSS hashing, which causes a considerable amount of loss in the UDP tests I've run with iperf3. `ethtool -N eth0 rx-flow-hash udp4 sd` works as designed and forces the UDP ports to be excluded from the calculation, dropping the datagram loss to zero. Is that the intended behavior? Or should we force it to exclude UDP ports by default? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1731994 Title: Update linux-azure and linux-azure-edge kernels with 4.13 patches To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-azure/+bug/1731994/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1728449] Re: Indicator icons do not appear after upgrade to Ubuntu 17.10
Question is, why indicator-application-service is running in your GNOME session? Are you using some special systemd configuration? As this should not be running in GNOME but only in the Unity session. As for the other issues mentioned here, I think that it's not really an ubuntu bug, but it looks like a misconfiguration on the client part. Having two extensions trying to handle indicators isn't feasible (as they both want the same dbus name), so we can't do much. At least in future it won't be possible to install KSTatusNotificationIcon extension and the ubuntu indicators one together, so the issue will be less visible. ** Changed in: indicator-application (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Incomplete ** Also affects: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) Status: New => Won't Fix -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1728449 Title: Indicator icons do not appear after upgrade to Ubuntu 17.10 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1728449/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1732686] Re: Asus Fx553VD - Keyboard LED backlight controls are not working
Hi Joseph. I already did it actually but i don't know if it is in at the right place or not. https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=197889 On thing to note ; as i mentioned above this keyboard backlight issue also happened with Ubuntu provided kernels also , from 4.10 to 4.13. And because of that i decided to install a more recent one via Ukuu to see if it helps. So it is not only an upstream specific bug , it is also an Ubuntu kernel bug. Is there any information i can provide here or there to ease committers work? ** Bug watch added: Linux Kernel Bug Tracker #197889 https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=197889 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1732686 Title: Asus Fx553VD - Keyboard LED backlight controls are not working To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1732686/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1731939] Re: Indicator-datetime-service renders 25% CPU usage and 100% RAM
Last work-around didn't stick. Did some test and can reproduce the error now easily in 17.04. Ubuntu reports it is the Indicator-datetime-service that crashes when its the evolution calendar that is the problem. During the system overload the problem can be fixed by killing all evolution processes and sub-processes indirectly. Evolution is overloading the Indicator-datetime-service somehow with lots of (factory?) sub-processes. Attached screenshot of the processes active during the error. Resolved by killing the evolution processes in the screenshot. Also, this problem started after enabling Empathy on boot. However, after disabling Empathy completely at startup the problem persisted. Will update to 17.10 (KVM bug fixed) and see if the error is unresolved. ** Attachment added: "htop screenshot sorted by mem usage" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/indicator-datetime/+bug/1731939/+attachment/5010707/+files/Screenshot%20from%202017-11-17%2022-45-57.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1731939 Title: Indicator-datetime-service renders 25% CPU usage and 100% RAM To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/indicator-datetime/+bug/1731939/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1733002] [NEW] Google Online Account Two Factor with hardware key fails immediately
Public bug reported: The hardware key authentication two factor fails immediately with a web based retry dialogue when connecting a Google account to the online accounts in settings using a hardware key second factor. Steps to reproduce: 1. Set Google Account to default to a hardware security key like a Yubikey or other FIDO standard key after having two factor authentication enabled on your Google Account. 2. Open Online accounts 3. Add a Google Account 4. Enter google email address 5. Enter google password 6. (this is the login flow of two factor, if default is the hardware key the error should appear). [Bug 1714989] Re: gnome-shell crashed with SIGSEGV in g_type_check_instance_cast() from st_label_set_text() from ffi_call_unix64() [Global App Menu specific?]
Thanks for all these reports... Unfortunately all these issues are unrelated to the shell itself, but I please you guys to report these crashes to the extensions authors (as I already did in various cases, proposing fixes too). In fact, what I suspect might have changed is the way gjs (or new mozjs) handles the destruction of the actors (as js elements)... Or the shell itself might destroy the extension actors at its request. When this happens, the extensions should block all the async operations that are happening, so as a generic rule I guess they should connect to the extension actor "destroy" signal and stop all the async operations there. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1714989 Title: gnome-shell crashed with SIGSEGV in g_type_check_instance_cast() from st_label_set_text() from ffi_call_unix64() [Global App Menu specific?] To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-shell/+bug/1714989/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1730717] Re: Some VMs fail to reboot with "watchdog: BUG: soft lockup - CPU#0 stuck for 22s! [systemd:1]"
OK a few days ago apw pointed me at http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel- ppa/mainline/v4.13.8/ which is the mainline kernel that the artful- proposed one I identified as bad is based on. I ran 35 instances and rebooted them 30 times - all successful. So I think that says this kernel is good. Will try another one later on. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1730717 Title: Some VMs fail to reboot with "watchdog: BUG: soft lockup - CPU#0 stuck for 22s! [Bug 1732999] [NEW] xrandr relative positioning does not take into account the --scale parameter
Public bug reported: assuming I have 2 displays, eDP1(3840x2160) and DP1-1(1920x1200), and I want DP1-1 placed to the left of eDP1 while scaling it 2x2... xrandr --output eDP1 --auto --output DP1-1 --auto --scale 2x2 --left-of eDP1 after running the above command, eDP1 ends up having a pos of 1920x0 but DP1-1 ends up with a scaled resolution of 3840x2400, which causes half of it's screen area to be displayed on eDP1, overwriting half of eDP1's screen. I have also reproduced this behavior with --scale-from instead of --scale. I think that the pos of eDP1 in this case should end up at 3840x0, otherwise the utility of the ease of use operators like --right-of, --left-of, --above, etc is zero when used in conjunction with --scale or --scale-from. ** Affects: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: xrandr -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1732999 Title: xrandr relative positioning does not take into account the --scale parameter To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/1732999/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
