[Bug 1581160] Re: Switch to Noto Sans as default font for Japanese and/or Korean?

2017-11-22 Thread Jung-Kyu Park
It seems package fonts-nanum* have been removed correctly though, fonts-
unfonts* seems still exist on bionic, tested in daily cdimage of today.

[Bug 1181666] Re: gnome-shell randomly blocks mouse clicks from working in app windows

2017-11-22 Thread PJSingh5000
Same issue as LuisC on 17.10, but using xorg.

Also, my keyboard stops working, so I can't press super key.

However, the gnome-shell top bar and the Ubuntu Dock still accept
inputs.

As a result, I am able to launch programs.

I can also kill programs by clicking on the window's "X" (close) in
Activities (overview) mode, but the window controls (close, minimize,
and maximize) do not accept any form of input.

Restarting solves the problem. Loging-out and loging back in does not
correct the problem. Note that I am able to use the mouse and keyboard
on the GDM screen, just like I am able to interact with the topbar and
Ubuntu Dock.

[Bug 1710993] Re: PulseAudio requirement breaks Firefox on ALSA-only systems after 55.0.1 update

2017-11-22 Thread Raycho Raykov
Thanks, Simon Quigley. How I dare to think it's your problem at first
place. Shame on me.

The real question behind everything in my post you quoted is that you
avoid: Why pulseaudio requires cheese and evolution. Do I (or anyone
else) expect to hear a sound from the speakers of the computer without
these programs? What about unity-control-center and other unity-*? Where
are kde-control-center, cinnamon-control-center and whatever? Where are
my beloved apple-control-center or windows-control-center packages? How
may I hear anything without the Bill's smile on my screen?

One of reasons for me (and many others) to choose lubuntu instead of
Ubuntu is low system requirements.

I write my previos post not to tell anyone what is his problems but to
focus attention on something wrong in my point of view. So I don't
understand why you need to point here what is not your problem. If it is
God's (pulseaudio's) will, who am I to argue with?! Let it be!

the direct cause of the coredump, is that the function __mulvsi3 in gcc
checked the plus operation is overflow, then this gcc function abort().

the reason of the overflow is cause by the time-setting operation when
do ssh connect. in function ms_subtract_diff . the timeoutp get a very
big value because of the time-change.

So could we add a limitation for the differ of the 2 values get from
gettimeofday ? if it's too big, would lead to overflow, we set a default value
and report a warning log.
thanks for you attention and expect your reply.

I am not seeing the issue in an up-to-date i386 artful VM with -proposed
enabled.

Can you please try downgrading libreoffice and related packages to
version 1:5.4.1-0ubuntu1 and let us know if then the applications
launch.

Are there any related crash files under /var/crash/ ?

[Bug 1733991] Re: ctrl + super + w is too eager to destroy windows

2017-11-22 Thread Khurshid Alam
Don't use CTRL. Use only super + w. It has probably something to do with
key release rather than key press. So anything with ctrl or shift is not
working properly. Ubuntu recently removed that patch from latest xorg
which just landed in 16.04 through xenial. See LP: #1683383

nabi is a package that belongs to Ubuntu Desktop.
And the underlying platform is listed as x86_64.

But why is this ticket marked as affecting the ubuntu-power-systems project?
Ubuntu for Power is Ubuntu Server only.

2017-11-22 Thread Steve Beattie
opensaml2 has been fixed in all releases (see
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/opensaml2) except for the devel
release (bionic), which will be addresses when the debian autosync pulls

shibboleth-sp2 still needs to be fixed in trusty and xenial, if someone

which will again be addressed when the autosync process pulls

[Bug 1734034] [NEW] Cannot Use the Character U07AE on any Editor

2017-11-22 Thread Affan Juafar
Public bug reported:

When using 'Dhivehi' as a keyboard input source, unicode character U07AE
does not work when typing on LibreOffice or Gedit.

The character is o on the keyboard. When this key is pressed nothing
happens.

All the other keys (characters) work fine except for the one that should
be given by pressing o. Even Shift+o Works. I also tried exchanging the
mapping of the unicode to another key. Even with that, the unicode
character did not work.

I have tried changing xkbd/symbol mapping to a different key. But that
didn't help.

With xev tool, the Unicode symbol is detected in the Terminal. But it
does not work when tried elsewhere.

I can insert the character by typing the Unicode, like Ctrl+Shift+
U07AE. But to do this, I have to change language to English.

This issue came up on Ubuntu 17.10; in 16.04 it works as it should.

[Bug 1535048] Re: i915 driver seems to cause system crash at random

2017-11-22 Thread Tyson Tan
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1554613 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1554613

New test result today seems to be a intel P-state related problem.
I had reverted everything to their default state, with only the following
changes in TLP settings:

/etc/default/tlp

# Set Intel P-state performance: 0..100 (%)
# Limit the max/min P-state to control the power dissipation of the CPU.
# Values are stated as a percentage of the available performance.
# Requires an Intel Core i processor with intel_pstate driver.
CPU_MIN_PERF_ON_AC=100
CPU_MAX_PERF_ON_AC=100
CPU_MIN_PERF_ON_BAT=100
CPU_MAX_PERF_ON_BAT=100

Now the machine never crashed no matter what tricked I played against
it. This workaround seemed to work both under a normal Linux kernel and
a realtime kernel.

I guess the crash was triggered by flipping the P-state to save power.
In the previous report I was using WebGL Aquarium to do the test, which
has a rather linear stress. But later when I was using Krita, whose
stresses on the CPU comes in spikes, the old workaround failed to work.
When connecting to an external monitor, it also did not crash anyway but
I guess it was using full power all the way because of the dualview
requires that much power.

IIRC, you were using i386 and suspend worked fine.

Now you want to use amd64 instead, but suspend doesn’t work, correct?

[Bug 1734032] [NEW] X11 application cannot get nabi XIM server's state

2017-11-22 Thread bugproxy
Public bug reported:

---Problem Description---
X11 application cannot get nabi XIM server's state.

---uname output---
4.10.0-30-generic #34~16.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Wed Aug 2 02:13:56 UTC 2017 x86_64
x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Machine Type = x64 machine

---Steps to Reproduce---
This testing requires X11 desktop environment , nabi XIM server (nabi package)
and Korean locale.
1. Login to X11 environmnet
2. Download attached xim_root.zip file
3. Compile it with "-lX11" option, like
$ cc -o xim_root xim_root.c -lX11
4. Change current local ko_KR.utf8, like
$ export LANG=ko_KR.utf8
5. Start nabi, like
$ nabi &
(XIM's state may display somewhere...)
6. Start xim_root with XMODIFIERS environment variable, like
$ XMODIFIERS=@im=nabi ./xim_root
7. Press "A" key, then xim_root prints "XmbLookupString:a"
8. Press Ctrl+Muddle Mouse button on xim_root, then print "State: IM On", even
if IM is not turned ON <== ISSUE
9. Press Shift+Space key to turn on, then type "gks", Korean character is
displayed on xim_root, then press Return key, this Korean character is committed
10. Press Ctrl+Left Mouse button to turn off XIM server, then type "gks", but
still XIM is turned on <== ISSUE
11. Press Ctrl+Middle Mouse button, print "State: IM Off".

So X11 application cannot get XIM state properly.

$ ps -ef | grep nabi

Kernel 4.12 is working (I had inadvertently selected the wrong kernel on

Re: [Bug 1299604] Re: evolution keeps asking for password

2017-11-22 Thread Paul Judd
Upgraded to Debian stretch. New internet provider email account no longer
works, did before upgrade, tried all tricks but still popups for password.
Only Gmail now collects. Also no longer connects to Gmail address in
account.

[Bug 1734020] [NEW] QCA Rome bluetooth connection cannot be established after S3

2017-11-22 Thread Kai-Heng Feng
Public bug reported:

SRU justification:

[Impact]
QCA Rome Bluetooth hosts (btusb) failed to search/pair after S3.

[Fix]
The device may loses its power under S3, hence doing a USB reset upon resume
can solve the issue.

[Test Case]
With this patch, bluetooth connection always gets established after S3.

[Regression Potential]
Minimal, only QCA Rome needs this quirk. Also, reset-resume is kinda mandatory
for tons of USB devices.

[Bug 1727228] Re: ath9k can't connect to wifi AP

2017-11-22 Thread Anthony Wong
** Tags added: originate-from-1717179 somerville

** Description changed:

iwlist scan can search the available wifi APs, but can't get connected.

On new Intel platforms like ApolloLake, legacy interrupt mechanism

  interrupts are missing.

  Dell Inspiron 3472
  Dell Inspiron 3576
  Dell Vostro 3262
  Dell Vostro 15-3572
  Dell Vostro 3578
+
+ There should not be any regression potential. These are newly enabled

[Bug 1661741] Re: [Dell Inc. Latitude E5470] suspend/resume failure

2017-11-22 Thread Jonathan Ganc
Which version of Ubuntu are you using? Did you try the magical incantation I
listed in my initial post? I am currently using 16.04. There was a few days
(maybe 2 or 3 weeks ago) when the problem reappeared but it disappeared again.
I thought it might have been related to a new kernel version but I didn't get a
chance to try the newest mainline kernel before it went away.
If my instructions don't help, I'd suggest trying the newest kernel to see if
that helps.

[Bug 1734008] Re: rsyslog can't start after accident power off or rebooting (due /var/run/rsyslogd.pid existence) (17.10)

2017-11-22 Thread Seth Arnold
Hi Dima, this is an interesting find. On my system /var/run is a symlink
to /run which is a tmpfs, and thus created from scratch on every reboot.

Can you please report back if /var/run is a symlink to /run on your
system or not, and what type of filesystem is actually used to store the
pidfile?

Thanks

Hello Sushil, your root filesystem is full, or very nearly full:

/dev/sda1 76765216 72155180687452 100% /

You'll have to deal with this before anything will work right.

Thanks

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears
to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.
Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

[Bug 1299604] Re: evolution keeps asking for password

2017-11-22 Thread Bryan Crosby
I use Xubuntu 16.04 with evolution 3.18.5.2
This is the 2nd time, that it failed to send emails. It had previously worked
seamlessly( over 3 months). Then I had to change my Microsoft (live) password.
Evolution, asked for a new password when I started it up successfully. After
that it could successfully receive all my emails but could not send any.
I eventually followed the advice found on this site to run seahorse, I closed
Evo, and deleted all the relevant passwords associated with Evo. I restarted
Evo, it asked for my server password twice, then the receiving and sending
could happen again. It seems that it fails to recognise that either
1: The sending password is the same as receiving password ( there may be
exceptions, but i would think it would be a fair default) for any email server.
2: that if get action required new password, so does send action
This password change coincided , coincidentally, with a system update. I don't
know if that is part of the cause of this bug. Of course now that I have
reported it, I will probably always remember the solution if it happens again.
***
Interesting, seahorse did not have the title seahorse in Xubuntu start menu.
Rather when I entered "seahorse" in the search of startup menu, it resolved
only to "Passwords and keys". It makes sense in a functional way, but threw me
off track until that time.

[Bug 1699371] Re: nplan autopkgtests are failing in artful (NM 1.8?)

2017-11-22 Thread Steve Langasek
The autopkgtests are still failing, so marking v-failed.

(They are failing for both xenial and zesty, but Adam added a badtest
hint overriding the failures in xenial - which seems improper for an SRU
that is explicitly supposed to be fixing the autopkgtests.)

This is the dumbest thing I've heard in a while. The two ideas aren't
even remotely related.

Stealing credit is an asshole move. Imagine me taking a CD or a movie

annoyed.

If I pirated your CD or movie you wouldn't even know it.

[Bug 1729680] Re: Tyan S3992-E does not support nVidia GTX 1060

2017-11-22 Thread Tony Travis
I've updated the bug description because this appears to be a Tyan
S3992-E motherboard hardware issue. The product info for the S3992-E
motherboard says it doesn't support PCI-e graphics cards:

  http://www.tyan.com/Motherboards_S3992-E_S3992G3NR-E

However, I've been using nVidia C2050 GPGPU cards in these motherboards
without any problems...

The nVidia GTX 1060 graphic card that I tried does not work properly and
is not detected by either the "nouveau" or "nvidia" driver with the
S3992-E motherboard, but the same GTX 1060 graphics card works properly
in a Tyan S2927-E motherboard using the 4.10 HWE Linux kernel.

- I've just upgraded from Ubuntu-MATE 14.04 to 16.04 and my nVidia GTX
- 1060 stopped working!
-
- The Ubuntu 4.10 HWE kernel does not support the nVidia GTX 1060 display,
- either using "nouveau" or "nvidia-384" drivers. The 4.4 GA (General
- Availability) kernel does support the GTX 1060 using the "nouveau"
- driver, but neither the packaged nor manually installed nVidia driver
- work.
-
- My work-around is to remove the HWE stack from the instance or manually
- select the 4.4 GA kernel when booting using the 'advanced' options
- instead of booting the HWE kernel by default.
-
- The display on host "minke" works at 1280 x 1024, and seems to support
- 2D acceleration:

[Bug 1733993] [NEW] Ubuntu 17.10 Grub2 installer crashes with Samsung EVO 850 SSD

2017-11-22 Thread Frederick Harris
Public bug reported:

Tried again to install Ubuntu 17.10 onto a new Samsung EVO 850 500GB
SSD. The installer still crashes when it tries to load the Grub2 boot
loader. I have done some checking on the forums, and every time I get a
possible solution, Grub seems to come up with a new reason why it can't
be installed, but a lot of the forum entries are older, c. 2012 with
Ubuntu 12.10. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
