[Bug 1181666] Re: gnome-shell randomly blocks mouse clicks from working in app windows
Same issue as LuisC on 17.10, but using xorg. Also, my keyboard stops working, so I can't press super key. However, the gnome-shell top bar and the Ubuntu Dock still accept inputs. As a result, I am able to launch programs. I can also kill programs by clicking on the window's "X" (close) in Activities (overview) mode, but the window controls (close, minimize, and maximize) do not accept any form of input. Restarting solves the problem. Loging-out and loging back in does not correct the problem. Note that I am able to use the mouse and keyboard on the GDM screen, just like I am able to interact with the topbar and Ubuntu Dock. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1181666 Title: gnome-shell randomly blocks mouse clicks from working in app windows To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-shell/+bug/1181666/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1710993] Re: PulseAudio requirement breaks Firefox on ALSA-only systems after 55.0.1 update
Thanks, Simon Quigley. How I dare to think it's your problem at first place. Shame on me. The real question behind everything in my post you quoted is that you avoid: Why pulseaudio requires cheese and evolution. Do I (or anyone else) expect to hear a sound from the speakers of the computer without these programs? What about unity-control-center and other unity-*? Where are kde-control-center, cinnamon-control-center and whatever? Where are my beloved apple-control-center or windows-control-center packages? How may I hear anything without the Bill's smile on my screen? One of reasons for me (and many others) to choose lubuntu instead of Ubuntu is low system requirements. I write my previos post not to tell anyone what is his problems but to focus attention on something wrong in my point of view. So I don't understand why you need to point here what is not your problem. If it is God's (pulseaudio's) will, who am I to argue with?! [Bug 1734034] [NEW] Cannot Use the Character U07AE on any Editor
Public bug reported: When using 'Dhivehi' as a keyboard input source, unicode character U07AE does not work when typing on LibreOffice or Gedit. The character is o on the keyboard. When this key is pressed nothing happens. All the other keys (characters) work fine except for the one that should be given by pressing o. Even Shift+o Works. I also tried exchanging the mapping of the unicode to another key. Even with that, the unicode character did not work. I have tried changing xkbd/symbol mapping to a different key. But that didn't help. With xev tool, the Unicode symbol is detected in the Terminal. But it does not work when tried elsewhere. I can insert the character by typing the Unicode, like Ctrl+Shift+ U07AE. But to do this, I have to change language to English. This issue came up on Ubuntu 17.10; in 16.04 it works as it should. [Bug 1535048] Re: i915 driver seems to cause system crash at random
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1554613 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1554613 New test result today seems to be a intel P-state related problem. I had reverted everything to their default state, with only the following changes in TLP settings: /etc/default/tlp # Set Intel P-state performance: 0..100 (%) # Limit the max/min P-state to control the power dissipation of the CPU. # Values are stated as a percentage of the available performance. # Requires an Intel Core i processor with intel_pstate driver. CPU_MIN_PERF_ON_AC=100 CPU_MAX_PERF_ON_AC=100 CPU_MIN_PERF_ON_BAT=100 CPU_MAX_PERF_ON_BAT=100 Now the machine never crashed no matter what tricked I played against it. This workaround seemed to work both under a normal Linux kernel and a realtime kernel. I guess the crash was triggered by flipping the P-state to save power. In the previous report I was using WebGL Aquarium to do the test, which has a rather linear stress. But later when I was using Krita, whose stresses on the CPU comes in spikes, the old workaround failed to work. When connecting to an external monitor, it also did not crash anyway but I guess it was using full power all the way because of the dualview requires that much power. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1535048 Title: i915 driver seems to cause system crash at random To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libdrm/+bug/1535048/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Login to X11 environmnet 2. Download attached xim_root.zip file 3. Compile it with "-lX11" option, like $ cc -o xim_root xim_root.c -lX11 4. Change current local ko_KR.utf8, like $ export LANG=ko_KR.utf8 5. Start nabi, like $ nabi & (XIM's state may display somewhere...) 6. Start xim_root with XMODIFIERS environment variable, like $ XMODIFIERS=@im=nabi ./xim_root 7. Press "A" key, then xim_root prints "XmbLookupString:a" 8. Press Ctrl+Muddle Mouse button on xim_root, then print "State: IM On", even if IM is not turned ON <== ISSUE 9. Press Shift+Space key to turn on, then type "gks", Korean character is displayed on xim_root, then press Return key, this Korean character is committed 10. Press Ctrl+Left Mouse button to turn off XIM server, then type "gks", but still XIM is turned on <== ISSUE 11. Press Ctrl+Middle Mouse button, print "State: IM Off". Public bug reported: SRU justification: [Impact] QCA Rome Bluetooth hosts (btusb) failed to search/pair after S3. [Fix] The device may loses its power under S3, hence doing a USB reset upon resume can solve the issue. [Test Case] With this patch, bluetooth connection always gets established after S3. [Regression Potential] Minimal, only QCA Rome needs this quirk. Also, reset-resume is kinda mandatory for tons of USB devices. ** Affects: linux-oem (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Package changed: linux (Ubuntu) => linux-oem (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1734020 Title: QCA Rome bluetooth connection cannot be established after S3 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-oem/+bug/1734020/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Which version of Ubuntu are you using? Did you try the magical incantation I listed in my initial post? I am currently using 16.04. There was a few days (maybe 2 or 3 weeks ago) when the problem reappeared but it disappeared again. [Bug 1299604] Re: evolution keeps asking for password
I use Xubuntu 16.04 with evolution 3.18.5.2 This is the 2nd time, that it failed to send emails. It had previously worked seamlessly( over 3 months). Then I had to change my Microsoft (live) password. Evolution, asked for a new password when I started it up successfully. After that it could successfully receive all my emails but could not send any. I eventually followed the advice found on this site to run seahorse, I closed Evo, and deleted all the relevant passwords associated with Evo. I restarted Evo, it asked for my server password twice, then the receiving and sending could happen again. It seems that it fails to recognise that either 1: The sending password is the same as receiving password ( there may be exceptions, but i would think it would be a fair default) for any email server. 2: that if get action required new password, so does send action This password change coincided , coincidentally, with a system update. I don't know if that is part of the cause of this bug. Of course now that I have reported it, I will probably always remember the solution if it happens again. *** Interesting, seahorse did not have the title seahorse in Xubuntu start menu. Rather when I entered "seahorse" in the search of startup menu, it resolved only to "Passwords and keys". It makes sense in a functional way, but threw me off track until that time. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1299604 Title: evolution keeps asking for password To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evolution/+bug/1299604/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1729680] Re: Tyan S3992-E does not support nVidia GTX 1060
I've updated the bug description because this appears to be a Tyan S3992-E motherboard hardware issue. The product info for the S3992-E motherboard says it doesn't support PCI-e graphics cards: http://www.tyan.com/Motherboards_S3992-E_S3992G3NR-E However, I've been using nVidia C2050 GPGPU cards in these motherboards without any problems... The nVidia GTX 1060 graphic card that I tried does not work properly and is not detected by either the "nouveau" or "nvidia" driver with the S3992-E motherboard, but the same GTX 1060 graphics card works properly in a Tyan S2927-E motherboard using the 4.10 HWE Linux kernel. ** Summary changed: - 4.10 HWE kernel does not support nVidia GTX 1060 + Tyan S3992-E does not support nVidia GTX 1060 ** Summary changed: - Tyan S3992-E does not support nVidia GTX 1060 + 4.10 HWE kernel does not support nVidia GTX 1060 on Tyan S3992-E motherboard ** Summary changed: - 4.10 HWE kernel does not support nVidia GTX 1060 on Tyan S3992-E motherboard + 4.10 Linux HWE kernel does not support nVidia GTX 1060 on Tyan S3992-E motherboard -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1729680 Title: 4.10 Linux HWE kernel does not support nVidia GTX 1060 on Tyan S3992-E motherboard To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-hwe/+bug/1729680/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

** No longer affects: ubuntu-mate ** Description changed: - I've just upgraded from Ubuntu-MATE 14.04 to 16.04 and my nVidia GTX - 1060 stopped working! - - The Ubuntu 4.10 HWE kernel does not support the nVidia GTX 1060 display, - either using "nouveau" or "nvidia-384" drivers. [Bug 1733993] [NEW] Ubuntu 17.10 Grub2 installer crashes with Samsung EVO 850 SSD
