[Bug 1735872] [NEW] Port system-config-kickstart away from pygtk2

2017-12-01 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Public bug reported:

system-config-kickstart is one of 3 packages in main keeping source
pygtk in main. (The other two are ibus-sunpinyin and python-pyperclip,
an OpenStack-related package.)

pygtk has been unmaintained upstream since around 2011. The way forward
is to port system-config-kickstart to use GObject Introspection
bindings. This also requires porting to GTK3.

For more information on GObject Introspection see:
https://wiki.gnome.org/Projects/GObjectIntrospection
https://wiki.gnome.org/Projects/PyGObject

Call update_all_ha_network_port_statuses on agent start

As explained in bug [1] when l3 agent fails to report state to the
server, its state is set to AGENT_REVIVED, triggering
fetch_and_sync_all_routers, which will set all its HA network ports
to DOWN, resulting in
1) ovs agent rewiring these ports and setting status to ACTIVE
2) when these ports are active, server sends router update to l3 agent
As server, ovs and l3 agents are busy with this processing, l3 agent
may fail again reporting state, repeating this process.

As l3 agent is repeatedly processing same routers, SIGHUPs are
frequently sent to keepalived, resulting in multiple masters.

To fix this, we call update_all_ha_network_port_statuses in l3 agent
start instead of calling from fetch_and_sync_all_routers.

2017-12-01 Thread Brian Murray
Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given us, this does
not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to
a question in the support tracker. We understand the difficulties you
are facing, but it is better to raise problems you are having in the
support tracker at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if you are
uncertain if they are bugs. You can also find help posting your problem
in the support forum of your local Ubuntu's community
http://loco.ubuntu.com/ or asking at http://askubuntu.com. For help on

[Bug 1733662] Re: System hang with Linux kernel 4.13, not with 4.10

2017-12-01 Thread Rod Smith
Here are some more test runs on boldore, using different kernels, mostly
from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/?C=N;O=D. The
attachment is a tarball containing dmesg output associated with runs of
the cpu_offlining script. An overview:

* 4.10.0-38-generic: No hang or misbehavior; verbose dmesg output.
* 4.11.0-041100-generic: No hang or misbehavior; verbose dmesg output.
* 4.12.0-041200-generic: No hang or misbehavior; dmesg output is even
more verbose and includes multiple "error -22" messages.
* 4.13.0-041300-generic: Similar to the above, but dmesg errors are
  now "error -19".
* 4.13.16-041316-generic: No system hang or misbehavior; dmesg
output has no errors and is much shorter.
* 4.14.0-041400-generic: Segfault and limited functionality
thereafter; dmesg has multiple "error -19" messages and multiple
  general protection fault dumps.

[Bug 1711203] Re: Deployments fail when Secure Boot enabled

2017-12-01 Thread Lee Trager
I've updated lp:maas-images to produce new images using the linux-signed
kernel on AMD64. New images are produced when http://cloud-
images.ubuntu.com/daily/ adds new images so it may take a few days for
signed kernels to appear in the stream. Unsupported releases are no
longer updated so we'll have to manually regenerate them if we want
signed kernels.

The stream also contains all bootloaders including the shim. Once a new
shim-signed package is released to Xenial the stream will automatically
ingest the the update. Let me know if we want to test an updated
bootloader, I can produce a new proposed stream.

[Bug 1729568] Re: [ SRU ]virtualbox-dkms 5.0.40-dfsg-0ubuntu1.16.04.1: virtualbox kernel module failed to build - error: implicit declaration of function ‘set_pages_x’

2017-12-01 Thread Stephan Springer
I could only install virtualbox-guest-dkms-hwe, virtualbox-guest-utils-
hwe and virtualbox-guest-source-hwe, not virtualbox-guest-x11-hwe due to
dependency conflicts. I hope that's not a problem …

I can't boot into 4.13 at the moment, so I'll report on that later.

[Bug 1728244] Re: Touchpad stops working after reboot on Apollo Lake

2017-12-01 Thread Brad
@mogio, I'm just reporting that the patches give an error (when I
applied them) if you use the two links you provided in your post #64
above. Did you try it? So that makes me wonder what @kaihengfeng used
for his latest build and maybe that's why it does not work for you?

[Bug 1735843] [NEW] Bionic update to v4.14.3 stable release

2017-12-01 Thread Seth Forshee
Public bug reported:

SRU Justification

Impact:
The upstream process for stable tree updates is quite similar
in scope to the Ubuntu SRU process, e.g., each patch has to
demonstrably fix a bug, and each patch is vetted by upstream
by originating either directly from a mainline/stable Linux tree or
a minimally backported form of that patch. The v4.14.3 upstream stable
patch set is now available. It should be included in the Ubuntu
   kernel as well.

[Bug 1735842] [NEW] nouveau fb: trapped write at X on channel Y; fifo CACHE_ERROR

2017-12-01 Thread TJ
Public bug reported:

Occurred whilst using Firefox Nightly 59.0a1 (2017-11-22) - session had
been active for several days. No crash report or other useful info in
other logs than shown here.

Firefox stopped responding then I realised the entire desktop had
likewise although touchpad/mouse movement was fine. Keyboard input was
also unavailable (including Ctrl+Alt+Fx).

SSHed in and after seeing the entries in kern.log did "pkill firefox"
upon which full control was regained.

[Bug 1734147] Re: Ubuntu 17.10 corrupting BIOS - many LENOVO laptops models

2017-12-01 Thread Alexis Rico
Workaround for reference to install Windows with the broken BIOS.

If you try to install through PXE Windows you'll see that it errors when
trying to bcdedit the entry to BIOS and the process fails.

A nasty workaround that works is:

- Create a raw Virtual Disk that points to the physical drive
- Install Windows until the first restart through VirtualBox (it extracts only
the wim files and creates the EFI BCD).
- Finish the installation on the Lenovo

Also I recommend you to leave rEFInd as default EFI entry (EFI/BOOT) so
that you can launch bootable USBs using the novo button when PXE fails
and defaults to rEFInd.

I hope either Lenovo or Ubuntu releases a proper fix but at least now
I've found a way to Install Linuxes, Windows and Boot USBs with the
corrupted BIOS.

[Bug 1702558] Re: [MIR] libsoxr

2017-12-01 Thread aquegg
Regarding the couple of bugs in Debian mentioned above, one is
resolved—only #751615 is outstanding.

Also, bug #751615 is in fact a false-positive from a code-checking tool;
i.e. there is no concrete problem at run-time.

Furthermore, #751615 applies only to the libsoxr-lsr0 portion of
libsoxr, which is not used by PulseAudio, so does not need to be a part
of this MIR.

[Bug 1733662] Re: System hang with Linux kernel 4.13, not with 4.10

2017-12-01 Thread Rod Smith
I've tried upgrading to the latest development kernel, from
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.15-rc1/, and re-
testing. The details of the problem have changed (but they were never
100% consistent), but the problem definitely still exists. I'm attaching
dmesg output from three runs:

* run1.txt -- In this run, the cpu_offlining script successfully shut
down all CPU nodes (except node 0, of course), but when bringing
them up again, the system segfaulted after bringing up several
nodes. Thereafter, any remotely substantive command (top or
shutdown, for instance) hung, although bash remained responsive
and I could take file listings with ls.
* run2.txt -- In this run, the cpu_offlining script segfaulted
when taking CPU nodes offline. The system then became unreliable
in the same way as with run 1.
* run3.txt -- In this run, the script seemed to complete successfully,
but the dmesg output includes errors associated with bringing up
several nodes. The system SEEMED TO operate normally thereafter,
  but my testing was limited.

[Bug 1735826] [NEW] SMART Board Pen not supported

2017-12-01 Thread civ4ever
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 17.10 | xserver-xorg-input-libinput 0.25.0-0ubuntu1

I'm using Ubuntu 17.10 with a SMART Board 6000 (an interactive whiteboard) in
school.
The touch-screen of the board works fine. Unfortunately there are a lot of
problems with the pen:
- The pen isn't recognized as a device on Wayland. You can't either use it as a
touch-device or write with it.
- The same problem occurs when xserver-xorg-input-libinput is used on X.Org.
After I replaced libinput with the old xserver-xorg-input-synaptics the pen was
recognized and I could use it. The output of xinput confirms this:

xinput [libinput installed]:
⎡ Virtual core pointer id=2[master pointer (3)]
