I have issues also when drag'n'droping files from a nautilus window to one of its subfolders (or any other place). AMOF sometimes it works after 1 minutes of silent-doing-nothing. [Bug 1714881] Re: no gdm3 greeter with nvidia quadro and modeset=1, discrete nvidia (not optimus)
Another user has report this on the nvidia linux board. This user reproducts the problem exactly, and reports a workaround which narrows down the problem. I haven't yet verified this workaround. While this user has both intel and nvidia, he/she does not appear to be using a laptop. Hey guys, I too have noticed something strange with GDM when trying to enable PRIME synchronization with modeset=1 for the nvidia_drm on Ubuntu 17.10. I have a desktop with an Intel i7 Coffee Lake 8700K and Titan Xp and one monitor is plugged into the iGPU while the other is to the dGPU. When turning on KMS for the nvidia_drm during modprobe phase, GDM only starts on the iGPU monitor and no monitor on the dGPU is detected and a blank screen occurs. This is fixed by kill GDM and initiating a sudo startx command from SSH which initiates a gnome-session with both monitors now detected and PRIME sync working on the iGPU monitor. Whats' interesting is that immediately after killing the startx command, and restarting GDM, both monitors are now detected and logging in results in the iGPU monitor now showing PRIME sync in xrandr -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1714881 Title: no gdm3 greeter with nvidia quadro and modeset=1, discrete nvidia (not optimus) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gdm/+bug/1714881/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Note that any time you actively need to use custom userdata is probably a time where Juju is failing to model something important. So while it is an outlet to getting something that works, it should still be a bug that we don't support the underlying use case correctly. [Bug 1737466] Re: Discover packaging uses packagekit backend by default; should instead default to Snap or Flatpak
In fact, I did start upstream: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=387719 After that bug was closed, I talked to Aleix Pol, the main Discover developer, and he said that this kind of decision is up to distros. So according to him, it would be up to the Kubuntu plasma-discover packagers to make plasma-discover-flatpak-backend a required dependency (and probably pre-populate it with the Flathub repo, until https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=387718 is implemented). ** Bug watch added: KDE Bug Tracking System #387719 https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=387719 ** Bug watch added: KDE Bug Tracking System #387718 https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=387718 ** Summary changed: - Discover packaging uses packagekit backend by default; should instead default to Snap or Flatpak + Kubuntu Discover packaging uses packagekit backend by default; should instead default to Flatpak -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1737466 Title: Kubuntu Discover packaging uses packagekit backend by default; should instead default to Flatpak To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/plasma-discover/+bug/1737466/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1737466] [NEW] Discover packaging uses packagekit backend by default; should instead default to Snap or Flatpak
Public bug reported: Kubuntu 17.10 + Kubuntu backports PPA Discover 5.11.4 I was very surprised to find that the Plasma Discover Snap backend is not even packaged in Kubuntu, given how it's an Ubuntu-based distro and Canonical is encouraging Snap adoption. We should either package the Snap backend and make it the default first choice, or else do the same for the Flatpak backend. But we should definitely do this for one of the two, to give Kubuntu Discover users all of the advantages of Snap or Flatpak apps. ** Affects: plasma-discover (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1737466 Title: Discover packaging uses packagekit backend by default; should instead default to Snap or Flatpak To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/plasma-discover/+bug/1737466/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1737429] Re: LyX crashes when undoing an advanced search-replace
Christopher, thank you very much for taking the time to report this issue and to give details on how to reproduce. I've tried several times and I cannot reproduce. Can you make a screencast? If not, please answer the following questions: After writing "ccc", do you put the cursor at the top? Or after you search you first click on "Yes" in the "wrap search" dialog? Do you do the search before you click in the replace box and type "\abc"? Do you do anything (e.g. click in the main text area?) after you make the substitution and before you execute the ctrl-z? If you do ctrl-z with the cursor in the advanced find, then it undoes the last edit to the advanced find window. If you do it in the main workarea, it undoes the substitution. Are you able to reproduce while running LyX from gdb? Can you post a backtrace? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1737429 Title: LyX crashes when undoing an advanced search-replace To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/lyx/+bug/1737429/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 405294] Re: A2DP Bluetooth audio skips terribly ["Skipping NNN us (= MMM bytes) in audio stream"]
i'm using ubuntu 17.10 (single boot) on a macbookpro early 2015 (12,1 model). i have the apple airpods. they work fantastic with my android phone. on linux though, it's another story. "it works" but the result is awful. useless. first, there's lot of time it is not able to connect. it fails. then i retry 5, 6 times and then it connects. when it works: audio is skipping, making long pauses, choppy sound most of the time. and i must stay close to the laptop or signal is lost. - using bluetooth headset on osx and android (both unixes) is a really good experience. they both perform really well. - using bluetooth headset on linux with pulseaudio is a terrible experience. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/405294 Title: A2DP Bluetooth audio skips terribly ["Skipping NNN us (= MMM bytes) in audio stream"] To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/pulseaudio/+bug/405294/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1725680] Re: DNS name resolution doesn't work on Artful
I'm PXE booting 17.10 live with Serva. I also found that the booting image DNS is broken. I traced the problem to Casper within the booting initrd.lz, the file /script/casper-bottom/23networking does not populate /etc/systemd/resolved.conf therefore the DNS daemon does not work. I've added to 23networking if [ -f /root/etc/systemd/resolved.conf ]; then resolv=/root/etc/systemd/resolved.conf cat > $resolv <> $resolv [ -n "$rc_server0" ] && [ "$rc_server0" != "0.0.0.0" ] && echo "DNS=$rc_server0" >> $resolv [ -n "$rc_server1" ] && [ "$rc_server1" != "0.0.0.0" ] && echo "FallbackDNS=$rc_server1" >> $resolv [ -n "$rc_server1" ] && [ "$rc_server1" = "0.0.0.0" ] && [ "$rc_server0" != "0.0.0.0" ] && echo "FallbackDNS=$rc_server0" >> $resolv [ -n "$rc_domain" ] && echo "Domains=${rc_domain}" >> $resolv echo "#LLMNR=yes" >> $resolv echo "#MulticastDNS=yes" >> $resolv echo "#DNSSEC=no" >> $resolv echo "#Cache=yes" >> $resolv echo "#DNSStubListener=udp" >> $resolv fi and now 17.10 live PXE boots correctly with a healthy DNS Best, Patrick ** Attachment added: "23networking" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1725680/+attachment/5021036/+files/23networking -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1725680 Title: DNS name resolution doesn't work on Artful To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1725680/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1737433] [NEW] Ubiquity automatically removes qt5-gtk-platformtheme, but this is needed to integrate KDE apps
Public bug reported: Ubiquity automatically removes qt5-gtk-platformtheme after installing the desktop, but this is needed to make KDE applications look native in Gnome. Ubiquity should not automatically remove this package. This bug affects the Ubuntu 17.10 live iso (ubuntu-17.10-desktop- amd64.iso) and the associated version of Ubiquity. [Bug 1737428] Re: VRF support to solve routing problems associated with multi-homing
** Description changed: Problem description: * a host is multi-homed if it has multiple network interfaces with L3 addresses configured (physical or virtual interfaces, natural to OpenStack regardless of IPv4/IPv6 and IPv6 in general); * if all hosts that need to participate in L3 communication are located on the same L2 network there is no need for a routing device to be present. ARP/NDP and auto-created directly connected routes are enough; * multi-homing with hosts located on different L2 networks requires more intelligent routing: - - "directly connected" routes are no longer enough to talk to all relevant hosts in the same network space; - - a default gateway in the main routing table may not be the correct routing device that knows where to forward traffic (management network traffic goes to a management switch and router, other traffic goes to L3 ToR switch but may go via different bonds); - - even if a default gateway knows where to forward traffic, it may not be the intended physical path (storage replication traffic must go through a specific outgoing interface, not the same interface as storage access traffic although both interfaces are connected to the same ToR); - - there is no longer a single "default gateway" as applications need either per-logical-direction routers or to become routers themselves (if destination == X, forward to next-hop Y). Leaf-spine architecture is a good example of how multiple L2 networks force you to use spaces that have VLANs in different switch fabrics => one or more hops between hosts with interfaces associated with the same network space; - - while network spaces implicitly require L3 reachability between each host that has a NIC associated with a network space, the current definition does not mention routing infrastructure required for that. For a single L2 this problem is hidden by directly connected routes, for multi-L2, no solution is provided or discussed; + - "directly connected" routes are no longer enough to talk to all relevant hosts in the same network space; + - a default gateway in the main routing table may not be the correct routing device that knows where to forward traffic (management network traffic goes to a management switch and router, other traffic goes to L3 ToR switch but may go via different bonds); + - even if a default gateway knows where to forward traffic, it may not be the intended physical path (storage replication traffic must go through a specific outgoing interface, not the same interface as storage access traffic although both interfaces are connected to the same ToR); + - there is no longer a single "default gateway" as applications need either per-logical-direction routers or to become routers themselves (if destination == X, forward to next-hop Y). For a single L2 this problem is hidden by directly connected routes, for multi-L2, no solution is provided or discussed; * existing solutions to multi-homing require routing table management on a given host: complex static routing rules, dynamic routing (e.g. running an OSPF or BGP daemon on a host); * using static routes is rigid and requires network planning (i.e. working with network engineers which may have varying degrees of experience, doing VLSM planning etc.); * using dynamic routing requires a broader integration into an organization's L3 network infrastructure. Routing can be implemented differently across different organizations and it is a security and operational burden to integrate with a company's routing infrastructure. Summary: a mechanism is needed to associate an interface with a forwarding table (FIB) which has its own default gateway and make an application with a listen(2)ing socket(2) return connected sockets associated with different FIBs. In other words, applications need to implicitly get source/destination-based routing capabilities without the need to use static routing schemes or dynamic routing and with minimum or no modifications to the applications themselves. Goals: * avoid turning individual hosts into routers; * avoid complex static rules; * better support multi-fabric deployments with minimum effort (Juju, charms, MAAS, applications, network infrastructure); * reduce operational complexity (custom L3 infrastructure integration for each deployment); * reduce delivery risks (L3 infrastructure, L3 department responsiveness varies); * avoid any form of L2 stretching at the infra
