Odd, even the poweron-vm that fails on boot works in this retest.
If there is only /etc/vmware-tools/scripts/vmware/network and no others

I've just checked and toggling "Natural Scrolling" does work on
touchpads for other people such as myself. You might want to check if
the "Natural Scrolling" option is listed under "Touchpad" or under
"Mouse". Make sure you set the one under "Touchpad".

FWIW, you can also disable systemd-resolve altogether since it's working
so poorly. The workaround for #8 works, but ping and ssh are still
broken with it which is far from ideal.

Well, I do not have 'Sticky keys' enabled now, and I doubt I ever did.
It really felt to me that the lock screen and "everything else" seemed to keep
independent state for shift (or caps lock possibly), and I happened to get them
out of sync.

Disconnecting the USB receiver in a port, and connecting it in the USB
port just besides it, has been working for some time now. Middle click
is now recognized in System Settings. Ubuntu 16.04, NVIDIA drivers.
