[Bug 1746372] Re: [Asus K501UQ] Touchpad stops working after suspend

2018-02-03 Thread Sergey Zolotarev
Unfortunately I can't perform steps 4-10 in the suspend debugging guide
because the display is not working after waking up when doing pm_trace
(it's turned off), and I can't SSH into the system from another computer
because the network seems to be down as well (No route to host). When
the laptop is booted properly I can SSH into it without issues.

[Bug 1746372] Re: [Asus K501UQ] Touchpad stops working after suspend

2018-02-03 Thread Sergey Zolotarev
1. The issue occurs when resuming from suspend.
2. Suspend by closing the lid.
3. Resume by lifting the lid.
4-10. Can't provide this information because I can't get to the console after
waking up.
11. See suspend_stats.txt.
12. Can't SSH into the laptop after resume - ssh says "No route to host". But
under normal conditions I can SSH into it.

[Bug 1747228] Re: [18.04] You need at least 8.4 GB ... This computer has only 0.0 B.

2018-02-03 Thread TJ
** Description changed:

Testing the bionic daily desktop amd64 ISO for 2018-02-02 in a QEMU
guest allocated 8GB via an LV, started in EFI mode and using "Try
Ubuntu" mode, when Ubiquity was started it reported:

You need at least 8.4 GB disk space to install Ubuntu.

This computer has only 0.0 B.

I checked the LV was correctly connected:

  cat /sys/block/sda/size
  16777216

I then expanded the LV to 16GB and re-ran the exercise and got the same
  message.

  cat /sys/block/sda/size
  33554432
+
+ I did some hunting through the source code and discovered that when the
+ prepare step calls ...
+
+ /bin/parted_devices
+
+ ... nothing is returned.
+
+ I ran strace on that command.
+
+ It turns out if the device is *read-only* nothing is returned.
+
+ Ubiquity really should report something more appropriate. Currently the
+ 0.0 message is due to the variable 'free' being initialised to 0 and not
+ being changed because parted_devices doesn't return any data. No results
+ should provoke a helpful GUI message, and certainly something in the
+ debug log.

[Bug 1747233] [NEW] lubuntu-rc.xml does not bind volume control keys to pulse audio controls

2018-02-03 Thread Ryan
Public bug reported:

Keyboard volume controls do not unmute speaker or headphone volume
channels, but only the master channel.

To reproduce:

1. Mute volume by opening pulse audio controls or from the widget in the task
bar panel
2. Try to unmute with keyboard by pressing unmute, or by changing the volume.
3. Open alsamixer and note that the master volume is unmuted and the volume is
changed, but the speaker and/or headphone volume channel is not unmuted.

To fix, the volume management settings in lubuntu-rc.xml can be changed
to

amixer -q -D pulse sset Master 3%+ unmute

amixer -q -D pulse sset Master 3%- unmute

amixer -D pulse set Master Playback Switch toggle

[Bug 1733572] Re: php-mapi conflicts with other version

2018-02-03 Thread Steve Langasek
Hi Christian,

The php-mapi package name persists in Debian, and has reverse-
dependencies; z-push in -proposed can't migrate to the bionic release
because it depends on php-mapi which does not exist in Ubuntu.

Please restore the php-mapi binary name (and add the necessary
Conflicts/Replaces/Provides: php7.1-mapi).

[Bug 1747228] Re: [18.04] You need at least 8.4 GB ... This computer has only 0.0 B.

2018-02-03 Thread TJ
** Summary changed:

- [18.04] You need at least 8.4 GB ... This computer only has 0.0 B.
+ [18.04] You need at least 8.4 GB ... This computer has only 0.0 B.

- This computer only as 0.0 B.
+ This computer has only 0.0 B.

I checked the LV was correctly connected:

  cat /sys/block/sda/size
  16777216

I then expanded the LV to 16GB and re-ran the exercise and got the same
  message.

  cat /sys/block/sda/size

[Bug 1747158] Re: Translation template for Zenity is outdated

2018-02-03 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
The problem seems to be that POTFILES.in has been outdated, so all the
translatable strings up to zenity 3.26.0 have not made it to the
translation template. The latest template was created on November 13,
2017, and two weeks later several files were added to POTFILES.in
upstream:

https://github.com/GNOME/zenity/commit/abcc873c

So there seems to be an urgent need that GNOME releases a new version of
zenity.

@Jeremy: Can you push for that to happen in due time, so zenity can be
updated in Debian/Ubuntu in time for 18.04?

[Bug 1747226] [NEW] Installation crashes during "Creating user..."

2018-02-03 Thread Full Name
Public bug reported:

I have experienced this bug many many times. The laptop I am using is a
Lenovo ThinkPad P71.

I have removed the SSD from my laptop, shut down, connected an external
hard drive, and booted from a USB with Ubuntu 16.04. The installer
obviously recognizes the external hard drive as the main storage device.

I do this because I want Ubuntu with full disk encryption installed on
an external hard drive. When I get to the screen that asks for a
username and password for the computer, I input the information. Then I
proceed and it loads for about 10 minutes before doing anything. Then
the installer proceeds for a while, and in the bottom left it shows what
the installer is working on. When it gets to "Creating user..." it
crashes 99% of the time.

After attempting to install over 10-15 times, it occasionally does NOT
crash, and installs correctly at this step. I have no idea why...

This bug DOES NOT happen if I do not select encrypt the disk.

[Bug 1747201] Re: Some right click menu actions of GNOME Terminal are not translated

2018-02-03 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
I think the reason is that two of the strings have been changed:

"Copy" -> "_Copy"
"Paste" -> "_Paste"

"Copy as _HTML" is new.

The language packs were last created on January 18, and the latest
upload of the gnome-terminal package was built on January 21. This will
hopefully be fixed through next language pack update.

[Bug 1724250] Re: gnome-terminal graphic artifact

2018-02-03 Thread Egmont Koblinger
I can reproduce the problem with plenty of other names taken from the
Humanity theme, such as "clock" or "gnome-panel-force-quit" instead of
gnome-terminal's default "utilities-terminal".

The culprit really seems to be gnome-shell/mutter, or some library used
by them.

So far I could only reproduce the problem with the Humanity icon theme,
although I haven't really tried other themes (only Adwaita a bit). It
could even be that the icon theme ships something wrong.

The problem is present both with the "Ubuntu on Xorg" (Ubuntu flavor of
gnome-shell experience) as well as "GNOME on Xorg" (default GNOME
experience), provided that I switch the latter using gnome-tweak-tool to
use the Humanity icon theme.

Hi. I've been trying to install Windows 10 in order to try to update my
SSD firmware, but I'm getting an error:

https://imgur.com/a/BM0gG

could it be that my SSD has a real hardware problem? I tried many
different pen drives, in different USB ports, but I always get the same
error.

I'm trying to install Ubuntu to get the output of
nvme_core.default_ps_max_latency_us=0 but the installation always fails

[Bug 1512344] Re: [Master Bug] Package nginx-* failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1 (due to "Address in Use" issue)

2018-02-03 Thread Eglefino
Every time I come here it's a crime (time), something isn't working
well. My English (translating from Dutch) isn't not well enough to
correspond with you, but the problems I have too are difficult to see
over. I tried to set up QEMU/KVM, Virtelbox, e.s.o. and every-time there
were some problems and I had to delete it before to start a new one.
Every new program brings a new installation process (& read a lot
documentation) to understand how it's working. I started with Ubuntu
with the terminal (CLI) but in VM I like to work with some GUI,

But working with an OS what is talking and saying (in terminal) I'm not the
owner of parts of my own 'Home' is a little crazy. than it's especially
difficult to install software.
Launchpad said during my installation. and the errors, maybe I can help you
with the nginx-bugs. I tried to install
https://serenity-networks.com/how-to-install-kvm-the-kimchi-graphical-web-interface-on-ubuntu-15-04/
in my 16.04 after installing KVM/QEMO, but there came a lot of red text
words so I stopted the installation of WOK via Git-depencies. you can write to
me to eglef...@fsfe.org (if you have a reaction)

Public bug reported:

"Copy", "Copy as HTML" and "Paste" right click menu actions of GNOME
Terminal are not translated in Ubuntu Bionic although they are fully
translated in Launchpad. It looks like that the translation is not
applied for some reason. See the attached screenshot.

One way around this is to run `ssh localhost` in the terminal window
then it works.

[Bug 1747199] [NEW] Cannot monitor nor stop/resume automatic deja-dup backup: monitor window absent

2018-02-03 Thread Christopher Barrington-Leigh
Public bug reported:

In latest versions of deja dup, there is no window created to monitor
the progress of an automated backup. This means there's no way to tell
how much is left to go, and no way to stop it cleanly if it is taking
too long or if one wishes to resume it later.

It should, I think, still be the case that when an automatic backup is
started, a window appears which shows the status/progress, offers
details, and gives an option to abort or pause the backup process.

[Bug 1626248] Re: libunistring0 has not been updated since 2010

2018-02-03 Thread Mattia Rizzolo
I'm sorry it took so long to receive a reply about this bug report.

However I am going to close it because there is nothing actionable here.
That error you reported is incredibly unhelpful, and it' not caused by anything
from this package. We'd need to know what is asking dpkg to explicitly
configure libunistring0 whilst already being done.
If you are still affected by this issue please contact user support to figure
the best way forward; also most probably it's some kind of misconfiguration on
your part anyway.

[Bug 1707695] Re: radeon 0000:03:00.0: ring 0 stalled for more than 10000msec

2018-02-03 Thread vinibali
Hello guys!

I just got an update for you. So at the very first time I enabled the
experimental GPU accelerations in the Chromium. That time was really
problematic, a local email provider's website caused a lot of lockups.
Since we disabled the experimental flags in Chromium, the errors has
gone. You can have a try or even disable default enabled GPU features.

I hope it helps, cheers.

[Bug 42178] Re: synaptic: ‘Lock Version’ is broken; use dpkg hold

2018-02-03 Thread Norbert
It seems that bug is still actual for all LTS releases.

As I wrote on AskUbuntu question (https://askubuntu.com/q/1002703/66509)
nowadays only Muon uses system-wide pinning in
`/etc/apt/preferences.d/`.
