[Bug 1674057] Re: [FFe] upgrade libzip to version 1.5.0
** Description changed: Feature Freeze Justification This release fixes to two CVE's and most notably has removed its custom AES crypto implementation with using openssl libraries. It is for the security reasons I am requesting this FFe this late in the cycle. Other Changes: - A bunch of bug fixes - A number of new features like bzip2 (this optional and could be disabled for 18.04), improved AES encryption support, some of the new features are other platforms only - Breaks API (only 1 symbol was removed though), soname bump, so will require a mini transition, all the 24 reverse-depends that I count are in universe. Some are seeded in flavours (see below) - Build system switched to Cmake in latest release - Ark will build with libzip support where it didnt before Testing: It has a fairly comprehensive test suite, all tests are now passing. I have run a test rebuild for all the rdepends in ppa:darkxst/libzip. All built successfully, except for 2 packages, cbmc and plume-creater - that had unrelated fallout due to gcc7 and other packaging changes. + that had unrelated fallout due to gcc7 and other packaging changes + (fixed on PPA). Other Notes: - - There are a bunch of presumably private symbols leaked into the debian symbols file. Not ideal, but probably not the only package in the archive like that. - - Have forwarded upstream a couple of patches and will follow symbols later + - Various fixes (rpath, man page syntax, leaky private symbols and pkg-config fixes) have been committed upstream and will be released soon in a 1.5.1 release, cherry-picked patches for now - I will also push for the update into Debian Build Logs: - https://launchpadlibrarian.net/363222435/buildlog_ubuntu-bionic-amd64.libzip_1.5.0-0ubuntu1~bionic3_BUILDING.txt.gz + https://launchpadlibrarian.net/363623662/buildlog_ubuntu-bionic-amd64.libzip_1.5.0-0ubuntu1~bionic6_BUILDING.txt.gz Reverse-depends of libzip4 that are seeded: ark (from ark) is seeded in: kubuntu: daily-live lubuntu-next: daily-live ideviceinstaller is seeded in: ubuntu-mate: daily-live libepub0 is seeded in: kubuntu: daily-live ubuntustudio: dvd libpstoedit0c2a is seeded in: kubuntu: supported okular-extra-backends is seeded in: kubuntu: daily-live Upstream Changelog == 1.5.0 [2018-03-11] == * Use standard cryptographic library instead of custom AES implementation. [Bug 1759956] Re: [dvr][fast-exit] incorrect policy rules get deleted when a distributed router has ports on multiple tenant networks
Reviewed: https://review.openstack.org/559256 Committed: https://git.openstack.org/cgit/openstack/neutron/commit/?id=fb9ec1afb6545def3130952008ee7f20dbaafd2c Submitter: Zuul Branch:stable/queens commit fb9ec1afb6545def3130952008ee7f20dbaafd2c Author: Dmitrii Shcherbakov Date: Thu Mar 29 17:32:01 2018 -0400 Use cidr during tenant network rule deletion If a distributed router has interfaces on multiple tenant networks, with 'fast exit' functionality policy based rules are created in qrouter namespace for every tenant network subnet and 'from ' is included into an 'ip rule' command invocation. When a port on a tenant network is deleted 'from ' part is not included and a first rule matching specified parameters gets deleted. For example with the following layout ip netns exec qrouter-4f9ca9ef-303b-4082-abbc-e50782d9b800 ip rule 0: from all lookup local 32766: from all lookup main 32767: from all lookup default 8: from 192.168.100.0/24 lookup 16 8: from 192.168.200.0/24 lookup 16 and neutron l3 agent will use this command ip netns exec qrouter-4f9ca9ef-303b-4082-abbc-e50782d9b800 ip -4 rule\ del priority 8 table 16 type unicast and 192.168.100.0/24 rule will get deleted even if you actually removed a port on 192.168.200.0. This results in an extra rule present and not cleaned up and the right rule removed. It is only recreated if a router is disabled and enabled again. additional changes: 1) Floating IP rules are identified by priority only as implemented currently - for this reason this change adds fixed_ip to the rule removal code. Rule priorities are 32-bit values in iproute2 so, in theory, those should be not be used to cover IPv6. 2) IP protocol information for 'from all' rules is currently derived from link-local address IP version. The same approach is preserved by using version-specific /0 addresses without changing the API provided by ip_lib. [Bug 1761919] [NEW] Unable to install Ubuntu 18.04 LTS using Multisystem LiveUSB
Public bug reported: I am able to boot into Ubuntu 18.04 LTS from a Live USB, without issue, having created it from Multisystem. When I try and install it, having selected a partition to format and install to, it constantly complains that it can't unmount isodevice and so can't continue. If I format the partition in Gparted and try and continue the installer, it pops up with that same dialog once and then continues. [Bug 1761911] [NEW] Have to manually "sudo ifconfig eth0 up" and "sudo dhclient eth0" after every reboot
Public bug reported: I did an upgrade with "sudo apt-get dist-upgrade", and it removed network-manager and network-manager-gnome. I could not connect to my LAN afer that. I was able to find instructions for downgrading the libnl packages at https://askubuntu.com/questions/727127/last-upgrade-crashes-network-manager-no-internet-connection-no-applet I am able to get online again by running the following commands sudo ifconfig eth0 up sudo dhclient eth0 (Fortunately, I have a Ethernet I can plug in to.) I have to do this every time I reboot. This is inconvenient as a usually use Desktop Sharing with another computer as the client. I use an SSH tunnel for security. This means that every time I reboot, I have to physically access the computer's console to enter the ifconfig and dhclient commands to get the computer back on the network. I tried to reinstall network-manager and network-manager-gnome, but the command results said there were dependencies that prevented the installation. The fixes in the web page referenced above do not help, so I'm reporting this as a bug. [Bug 1748157] Re: [MIR] thunderbolt-tools
I reviewed thunderbolt-tools version 0.9.3-1 as checked into bionic. This shouldn't be considered a full security audit but rather a quick gauge of maintainability. - No CVEs in our database - thunderbolt-tools provides a simple interface to authorize thunderbolt devices that are being added to a computer, since thunderbolt devices have immense control over the safety of the system - Build-Depends: debhelper, libboost-dev, libboost-filesystem-dev, libboost-program-options-dev, cmake, pkg-config, udev, txt2tags - Does not daemonize; udev hook scripts are used - No pre/post inst/rm scripts - No initscript / systemd unit files - No DBus services - No setuid files - /usr/bin/tbtadm added to the PATH - No sudo fragments - udev rules -- appear to be configured for works-by-default behaviour, some examples on how to configure for authorization-required would be nice - No tests, a bit unfortunate - No cronjobs - Clean build logs - No subprocesses spawned - C++ RAII memory management - File IO done via RAII-C++ classes, not exactly obvious when it happens - Some C++ exceptions, some C++ iostream - No environment variable use - The only privileged operations are file writes - No cryptography - No network connections - No privileged portions of code - No temporary files - No WebKit - No JavaScript - No PolicyKit - Clean cppcheck thunderbolt-tools is short and sweet authorization tool. It's written in modern C++, looks careful, and shouldn't be an undue maintenance burden. It uses std::random_device for security uses -- I believe this is safe but direct use of getrandom(2) would not have questions about underlying C++ library implementation choices. Security team ACK for promoting thunderbolt-tools to main once the extra udev configuration file is sorted out. [Bug 1756547] Re: LP refuses to import plural strings where e.g. msgstr[0] entries in PO file miss %d
The build of gnome-shell 3.28.0-0ubuntu4 was not sufficient to fix this. The POT file without javascript comments was imported, but LP still complained about the PO files for the affected languages. The upstream PO files have those javascript comments too. As a test I took the upstream Czech file, removed the javascript comments, and uploaded manually. Imported without errors. Next thought: Was the first failure about timing, i.e. did LP use the info in the old template to validate the PO files? To test that I took the upstream Serbian file and uploaded it manually without removing the javascript comments. Imported without errors. Conclusion: A no-change rebuild ought to be sufficient to fix it in gnome-shell for the other affected languages. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1756547 Title: LP refuses to import plural strings where e.g. msgstr[0] entries in PO file miss %d To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/launchpad/+bug/1756547/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
