[Bug 1674057] Re: [FFe] upgrade libzip to version 1.5.0

2018-04-06 Thread Tim Lunn
Packaging should be good to go now, pending FFe approval. All remaining
debian/patches are upstream cherry-picks that will be included in next
upstream release.

[Bug 1761934] [NEW] Hashsum mismatches on bionic Packages.xz for net install

2018-04-06 Thread Rolf Leggewie
Public bug reported:

This might be a temporary issue but at least for the last few hours I
got hashsum mismatches for the bionic Packages.xz with mirror.pregi.net

archive.Ubuntu.com allowed me to proceed. Could be very frustrating
experience for somebody just trying out Ubuntu.

[Bug 1761911] Re: Have to manually "sudo ifconfig eth0 up" and "sudo dhclient eth0" after every reboot

2018-04-06 Thread Walter Dietrich
Before I submitted this, I had run the following command, per the web
page mentioned above.

sudo apt-get install libnl-3-200=3.2.21-1 libnl-route-3-200=3.2.21-1
libnl-genl-3-200=3.2.21-1

After submitting this, I ran the following commands:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install network-manager

network-manager was reinstalled, and my server gets connected to the LAN
again automatically after I reboot. network-manager-gnome was also
reinstalled. I'd like to know if I can safely do

sudo apt-mark unhold libnl-3-200 libnl-genl-3-200 libnl-route-3-200

For now, I'll just stick with the downgraded libnl packages as I don't
want to have more networking problems.

[Bug 1674057] Re: [FFe] upgrade libzip to version 1.5.0

2018-04-06 Thread Tim Lunn
** Description changed:

  Feature Freeze Justification

This release fixes to two CVE's and most notably has removed its custom AES
crypto implementation with using openssl libraries. It is for the security
reasons I am requesting this FFe this late in the cycle.

  Other Changes:
  - A bunch of bug fixes
  - A number of new features like bzip2 (this optional and could be disabled
for 18.04), improved AES encryption support, some of the new features are other
platforms only
  - Breaks API (only 1 symbol was removed though), soname bump, so will require
a mini transition, all the 24 reverse-depends that I count are in universe.
Some are seeded in flavours (see below)
  - Build system switched to Cmake in latest release
  - Ark will build with libzip support where it didnt before

  Testing:
It has a fairly comprehensive test suite, all tests are now passing.

I have run a test rebuild for all the rdepends in ppa:darkxst/libzip.
All built successfully, except for 2 packages, cbmc and plume-creater
- that had unrelated fallout due to gcc7 and other packaging changes.
+ that had unrelated fallout due to gcc7 and other packaging changes
+ (fixed on PPA).

  Other Notes:
- - There are a bunch of presumably private symbols leaked into the debian
symbols file. Not ideal, but probably not the only package in the archive like
that.
- - Have forwarded upstream a couple of patches and will follow symbols later
+ - Various fixes (rpath, man page syntax, leaky private symbols and pkg-config
fixes) have been committed upstream and will be released soon in a 1.5.1
release, cherry-picked patches for now
  - I will also push for the update into Debian

[Bug 1759956] Re: [dvr][fast-exit] incorrect policy rules get deleted when a distributed router has ports on multiple tenant networks

2018-04-06 Thread OpenStack Infra
Reviewed: https://review.openstack.org/559256
Committed:
https://git.openstack.org/cgit/openstack/neutron/commit/?id=fb9ec1afb6545def3130952008ee7f20dbaafd2c

commit fb9ec1afb6545def3130952008ee7f20dbaafd2c
Author: Dmitrii Shcherbakov
Date: Thu Mar 29 17:32:01 2018 -0400

Use cidr during tenant network rule deletion

If a distributed router has interfaces on multiple tenant networks, with
'fast exit' functionality policy based rules are created in qrouter
namespace for every tenant network subnet and 'from ' is included
into an 'ip rule' command invocation.

When a port on a tenant network is deleted 'from ' part is not
included and a first rule matching specified parameters gets deleted.

For example with the following layout

ip netns exec qrouter-4f9ca9ef-303b-4082-abbc-e50782d9b800 ip rule
0: from all lookup local
32766: from all lookup main
32767: from all lookup default
8: from 192.168.100.0/24 lookup 16
8: from 192.168.200.0/24 lookup 16

and neutron l3 agent will use this command

ip netns exec qrouter-4f9ca9ef-303b-4082-abbc-e50782d9b800 ip -4 rule\
del priority 8 table 16 type unicast

and 192.168.100.0/24 rule will get deleted even if you actually removed
a port on 192.168.200.0.

This results in an extra rule present and not cleaned up and the right
rule removed. It is only recreated if a router is disabled and enabled
again.

additional changes:

1) Floating IP rules are identified by priority only as implemented
currently - for this reason this change adds fixed_ip to the rule
removal code. Rule priorities are 32-bit values in iproute2 so,
in theory, those should be not be used to cover IPv6.

2) IP protocol information for 'from all' rules is currently
derived from link-local address IP version. The same approach
is preserved by using version-specific /0 addresses without
changing the API provided by ip_lib.

[Bug 1754871] Re: qemu-bridge-helper incorrectly installed

2018-04-06 Thread Toni Spets
Finally got time to test this. Adding those lines to the apparmor
profile indeed fixes it for me when the setuid bit is set.

Did you add the bridge device to /etc/qemu/bridge.conf? I'm using
qemu:///session with virt-manager.

[Bug 1711337] Re: Firefox crashes at start on armv7L after 55.0.1 update

2018-04-06 Thread James Donald
@herrtimson are you expecting revert-128661.patch to fix the strd r2,
r3, [r1] startup segfault on xenial/trusty, the Skia assembly illegal
instruction, or both?

The discussion in bug 1434526 indicates this patch is necessary on
Firefox 60 to resolve an armhf build failure on the latest trunk, but
that regression appears to be newer than both of the crash symptoms at
hand here.

[Bug 1760128] Re: package avahi-dnsconfd 0.6.32~rc+dfsg-1ubuntu2 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess new pre-removal script returned error exit status 1

2018-04-06 Thread Dipanjan Ray
There is a workaround for this bug, which I found at:
https://neklaf.wordpress.com/2015/04/02/workaround-to-debian-gnulinux-upgrade/
where you manually disable avahi-daemon before the dpkg operation and reenable
it afterwards:

1. sudo systemctl disable avahi-daemon
2. (upgrade/reinstall avahi-dnsconfd)
3. sudo systemctl enable avahi-daemon

This worked for me on 16.04.4.

[Bug 1761626] Re: [regression] bionic 4.15.0-13-generic panics on qemu ppc64el

I can test earlier mainlines, but keep in mind that ppc64el is very slow
on my home qemu setup (note "only" "very slow"; ppc64 is "amazingly
slow", presumably due to endian swapping). Does Kernel have a POWER8
playground machine, if it comes to bisect compiling?

[Bug 1761919] [NEW] Unable to install Ubuntu 18.04 LTS using Multisystem LiveUSB

2018-04-06 Thread Fahad
Public bug reported:

I am able to boot into Ubuntu 18.04 LTS from a Live USB, without issue,
having created it from Multisystem. When I try and install it, having
selected a partition to format and install to, it constantly complains
that it can't unmount isodevice and so can't continue.

If I format the partition in Gparted and try and continue the installer,
it pops up with that same dialog once and then continues. I fill in my
information and on the next page I can see that it's not actually
installing and stuck on "Detecting file systems".

close/mark this bug as appropriate. I'll file a new bug, should I

[Bug 1746340] Re: Samsung SSD corruption (fsck needed)

2018-04-06 Thread Lucas Zanella
Ok, the error just happened now in the main machine. Took much more days
to happen.

I picked my computer while it were sleeping but opened, and moved the
mouse and saw a black screen with nothing on it. Then pressed power and
soething appeared: /.../libvirt read only file system and then it
turned off. Libvirt was running at the time so I think it was just an
error saying that libvirt was trying to write to the disk. Don't know if
it's related.

You don't need to provide the actual .deb's but the debian/ directory.
You can attach that as a either a tarball or point to a version control
system (like a git repo).

Same as for many other problems so many things in Linux-world have. The
complete bug-system here and especially in launchpad is a complete joke.
Not understandable for normal humans and furthermore only bugs with many
affected users gets attention at all - a complete mad and crazy system
in general - the whole "affected-by" is complete nonsense.

[Bug 1563945] Re: package avahi-dnsconfd 0.6.32~rc+dfsg-1ubuntu2 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed pre-removal script returned error exit status 1

2018-04-06 Thread Trent Lloyd
This seems to be some kind of weird interaction with systemd
activation...

root@optane:/lib/systemd# systemctl stop avahi-daemon.socket
Job for avahi-daemon.socket canceled.

I think basically the issue is the service is immediately started again
due to activation.. i'm not sure why avahi-dnsconfd is stopping it
anyway though so I will check into that.

[Bug 1761911] [NEW] Have to manually "sudo ifconfig eth0 up" and "sudo dhclient eth0" after every reboot

2018-04-06 Thread Walter Dietrich
Public bug reported:

I did an upgrade with "sudo apt-get dist-upgrade", and it removed
network-manager and network-manager-gnome. I could not connect to my LAN afer
that. I was able to find instructions for downgrading the libnl packages at
https://askubuntu.com/questions/727127/last-upgrade-crashes-network-manager-no-internet-connection-no-applet

I am able to get online again by running the following commands
sudo ifconfig eth0 up
sudo dhclient eth0
(Fortunately, I have a Ethernet I can plug in to.) I have to do this every time
I reboot. This is inconvenient as a usually use Desktop Sharing with another
computer as the client. I use an SSH tunnel for security. This means that every
time I reboot, I have to physically access the computer's console to enter the
ifconfig and dhclient commands to get the computer back on the network. I tried
to reinstall network-manager and network-manager-gnome, but the command results
said there were dependencies that prevented the installation. The fixes in the
web page referenced above do not help, so I'm reporting this as a bug.

Thanks for your assistance.

[Bug 1603600] Re: NetworkManager ignores pushed openvpn routes

2018-04-06 Thread WalterNicholls
Confirmed, just setting up new Xubuntu virtual machine 17.10 - after all
updates.
Architecture: amd64
network-manager-openvpn and network-manager-openvpn-gnome both Version:
1.2.10-0ubuntu2

I originally started with a config downloaded from pfSense. As usual, openvpn
from command line is flawless.
After reboot was able to connect with NM getting

Seriously, while nearly 2 years old is nothing for an open-source bug,
this is one of a whole set of bugs in the Gnome openVPN plugin. I've
never had these troubles with KDE. The plugin could do with some love.

I think the real fix is easier... This still has two copies of the file:

sarnold@hunt:/tmp/bolt$ ar x thunderbolt-tools_0.9.3-2_amd64.deb

./usr/share/doc/thunderbolt-user-space/copyright
./usr/share/man/
./usr/share/man/man1/
./usr/share/man/man1/tbtadm.1.gz
sarnold@hunt:/tmp/bolt$ tar xf data.tar.xz
sarnold@hunt:/tmp/bolt$ cat lib/udev/rules.d/*tbtacl*
# Thunderbolt udev rules for ACL (device auto approval)
SUBSYSTEM=="thunderbolt" ENV{DEVTYPE}=="thunderbolt_device" ACTION=="add"
ATTR{authorized}=="0" RUN+="/lib/udev/tbtacl add$devpath"
SUBSYSTEM=="thunderbolt" ENV{DEVTYPE}=="thunderbolt_device" ACTION=="change"
ATTR{authorized}!="0" RUN+="/lib/udev/tbtacl change $devpath"
# Thunderbolt udev rules for ACL (device auto approval)
SUBSYSTEM=="thunderbolt" ENV{DEVTYPE}=="thunderbolt_device" ACTION=="add"
ATTR{authorized}=="0" RUN+="/lib/udev/tbtacl add$devpath"
SUBSYSTEM=="thunderbolt" ENV{DEVTYPE}=="thunderbolt_device" ACTION=="change"
ATTR{authorized}!="0" RUN+="/lib/udev/tbtacl change $devpath"

I think the better solution is to delete this line from debian/rules:

cp tbtacl/tbtacl.rules.in tbtacl/tbtacl.rules

Thanks

[Bug 1748157] Re: [MIR] thunderbolt-tools

2018-04-06 Thread Seth Arnold
I reviewed thunderbolt-tools version 0.9.3-1 as checked into bionic. This
shouldn't be considered a full security audit but rather a quick gauge of
maintainability.

- No CVEs in our database
- thunderbolt-tools provides a simple interface to authorize thunderbolt
devices that are being added to a computer, since thunderbolt devices
have immense control over the safety of the system
- Build-Depends: debhelper, libboost-dev, libboost-filesystem-dev,
  libboost-program-options-dev, cmake, pkg-config, udev, txt2tags
- Does not daemonize; udev hook scripts are used
- No pre/post inst/rm scripts
- No initscript / systemd unit files
- No DBus services
- No setuid files
- /usr/bin/tbtadm added to the PATH
- No sudo fragments
- udev rules -- appear to be configured for works-by-default behaviour,
some examples on how to configure for authorization-required would be
  nice
- No tests, a bit unfortunate
- No cronjobs
- Clean build logs

- No subprocesses spawned
- C++ RAII memory management
- File IO done via RAII-C++ classes, not exactly obvious when it happens
- Some C++ exceptions, some C++ iostream
- No environment variable use
- The only privileged operations are file writes
- No cryptography
- No network connections
- No privileged portions of code
- No temporary files
- No WebKit
- No JavaScript
- No PolicyKit
- Clean cppcheck

thunderbolt-tools is short and sweet authorization tool. It's written in
modern C++, looks careful, and shouldn't be an undue maintenance burden.

It uses std::random_device for security uses -- I believe this is safe but
direct use of getrandom(2) would not have questions about underlying C++
library implementation choices.

Security team ACK for promoting thunderbolt-tools to main once the extra
udev configuration file is sorted out.

Thanks

[Bug 1761901] [NEW] Unresolved dependencies during release upgrade

2018-04-06 Thread Richard Baka
Public bug reported:

Release: 18.04 beta
Package: update-manager-core / apt

After I had upgraded my ubuntu 17.10 to 18.04 beta using "sudo
do-release-upgrade -d" command I got an "unresolved dependecies" warning for
these packages:
These packages have unresolved dependencies:
 audacious-plugins : depends on: audacious-plugins-data (= 3.9-1build2) but
3.9-1 is installed
 libvtk6.3 : Függ ettől (depends on): gdal-abi-2-2-3
depends on libgl2ps1.4 but not installed
depends on: libnetcdf13 (>= 4.0.1) but not installed
 libwxgtk3.0-0v5 : depends on: libwxbase3.0-0v5 (>= 3.0.4+dfsg) but
3.0.3.1+dfsg2-1 is installed
 openjdk-8-jdk : depends on: openjdk-8-jdk-headless (= 8u162-b12-1) de
8u151-b12-0ubuntu0.17.10.2 van telepítve
 openjdk-8-jre : depends on: openjdk-8-jre-headless (= 8u162-b12-1) de
8u151-b12-0ubuntu0.17.10.2 van telepítve
 openjdk-9-jre : depends on: openjdk-9-jre-headless (= 9.0.4+12-4ubuntu2) but
9~b181-4 is installed
 xorg : depends on: xserver-xorg (>= 1:7.7+19ubuntu6) but 1:7.7+19ubuntu3 is
installed

"sudo apt --fix-broken install" seems to have fixed this issue. Why does it not
run by default?
Thanks.

[Bug 1756870] Re: [MIR] socat

BTW, the 'justification' in this bug (socat) is accidentally copied from
the pv bug. Could you update this to say why socat is desired at the
moment?

Thanks

[Bug 1756547] Re: LP refuses to import plural strings where e.g. msgstr[0] entries in PO file miss %d

2018-04-06 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
The build of gnome-shell 3.28.0-0ubuntu4 was not sufficient to fix this.
The POT file without javascript comments was imported, but LP still
complained about the PO files for the affected languages.

The upstream PO files have those javascript comments too. As a test I
took the upstream Czech file, removed the javascript comments, and
uploaded manually. Imported without errors.

Next thought: Was the first failure about timing, i.e. did LP use the
info in the old template to validate the PO files? To test that I took
the upstream Serbian file and uploaded it manually without removing the
javascript comments. Imported without errors.

Conclusion: A no-change rebuild ought to be sufficient to fix it in
gnome-shell for the other affected languages.
